“Bare bones pick serves hearty plates”: Google hits the nail on the head with its description of Khmer Thai. We head in for some delicious (but cut price) Cambodian-Thai cuisine. The portions are crazy and the food is crazy good. You need to Khmer. Khmer Thai Restaurant at Oakwood and St. Clair has been around a while – and you can tell from the minute you walk in and see the decor. It’s so basic, but in a charming way. Whilst it might feel like travelling back in time, you’re gonna have a good experience. There is service even at this stripped back place. Plenty of choices means variety and appeal as you inspect their plastic menus with occasional pictures.
Another jewel found along St. Clair West. My first time having Tom Yum 😋 Soup. It was awesome. Our regular joint was closed so we thought let’s try a new place and we found the Khmer Thai, Cambodian & Thai Cuisine. Don’t mind the no decor, simple tables and chairs. It’s all about the FOOD. This family run restaurant is just like home cooking Cambodian & Thai style. I’m not much for spicy food but I changed my mind after trying out my first Tom Yum Soup. Great flavour in the broth, different types of mushrooms and shrimps. I could have used a few more shrimps. My wife had Chicken Green Curry. It was delicious, lots of sauce and served with rice on the side. Our friendly server was very nice with the recommendations. The price of the food is just right to the amount of food that they serve. Definitely coming back.
This is one of my favourites. It may be because I live so close to them, but also, everything on their menu is flavorful and well done. The restaurant itself is a no frills kind of place, with simple tables and chairs and counter service, but they really don't have to put much effort into their decor because of their amazing food speaks for itself. The staff and owners are so friendly and I'm happy to eat there whenever I can.
