If you love Italian eats and sweets then this is another place to check out. I love how they have mini versions of their pastries if you want portion control and save some money. Plus the staff at this place is super friendly and attentive! They also have hot food like lasagna and empanadas.

Your one stop shop! Has everything from a deli counter to cheeses, hot table, mini bakery and general Italian groceries. The ice-cream in the summer is to die for (I recommend the raspberry. ) the rice ball are a favourite as well as the iris. the interior is spectacular. Highly recommended.

Francesca's is one of those local italian establishments that is a bakery, mini grocery (for cheese and cured meats), and an eatery.
An italian friend recommended the place to satisfy my love of Sicilian cannoli.  It certainly passed the test....but I ate them on a previous visit before taking pictures ;)
On this occasion, we picked up lovely pastries to go yet also had a quick lunch.  Lunchtime can be busy mainly for people working in the area where they will have all kinds of hot dishes available to eat on the premises or to go.
I enjoyed the much publicized arancini, the giant rice ball with a bit of mince and peas filling in the core with a sauce (optional).  The calabrese sandwich was delightful with classic crusty bread filled with calabrese hot salami, proscuitto, cheese and lettuce.  You should have it warmed up there to really enjoy.   That with coffee and you're good to go.
The folks behind the scenes are also artists on the pastry side and specialty foods.  For example, they had a lovely display of fruit made out of marzipan but the level of detail and authenticity make these specialty items a real work of art.

The people were all helpful and friendly and is a good place too keep in mind if you are near the 401/McCowan area.  Get the cannoli at least and try other things.  Parking is very very limited but you might be lucky with the people coming in and out.  If you can't wait, check out the nearby side street.
