Interesting fresh take on southern french food. Great service and cocktails. Have visited 5+ times. Beautiful ambiance, delicious small meals and perfect for a date or out for a casual lunch. Lively but moody. A must visit. Oyster bar is a must see.
Liked it!. I really liked this place. Interesting dishes and overall good service. Jambalaya was not the traditional
Type, but very good .
Great for lunch. This is a great new lunch option. A small array of items, made really well!
We were there early (11:30) and it was pretty empty - but - it was filling up as we were leaving. Seems like maybe it hasn't yet caught on as a lunch option.
Excellent jambalaya and collard greens. Both were spot on. Ambience was cool and neighborhood appropriate.
Very original and flavourful. Don't go here expecting to dine and run in 30 minutes! Bring friends and enjoy your evening. The pace is relaxed, but the wait oh so worthwhile. Very original flavours and imagination put into the menu items.
We cant wait to go back and sample more items from the menu.
Great place to eat brunch, service is a little slow but been very happy with my food every time. Nice Reno, and love the pulled pork eggs Benedict!
Excellent neighbourhood option. We walk by this place all the time, but it never seems to be open for dinner (now I know its only Thurs-Saturday). I know it is a hopping place for weekend brunch, but wanted to try out their dinner menu.
We ordered the trout & slow cooked short ribs. Everything tasted delicious and the price was very reasonable for top quality food (at $16 per entree). The trout was cooked to perfection with a side of horseradish potatoes (not overpowering at all, just a hint of fresh horseradish). The short rib was braised beautifully, falling off the bone, and paired with Israeli couscous. For desert we had a carrot cake that was dense and wonderfully spiced.
The owner and chef stopped by the table to chat with us, he was friendly and definitely passionate about his cuisine. His business really relies on neighbourhood support, and I hope he succeeds because our meal was great!
If you are looking for a place for dinner, venture east of Keele, you will be pleasantly surprised and delighted you came.
The food is delicious! They are very welcoming when you walk in...
Southern breakfast, beef hash are amazing, as is the smoked salmon popover. Will definitely be back to sample more!
The chef seems friendly and knows his stuff! Love the open kitchen!
New spot for brunch!. Found this little place through my Urbanspoon Shake App! Had the Southern Breakfast - neat to have catfish for brunch. My sunny-side up eggs were perfectly cooked, bacon crispy, very good home fries and fresh, salad. My boyfriend had the burger; it was very flavorful with a distinct grill flavour!
Watching the chef cook for a bit and over hearing him talk to the server about mixing fruit juice flavours, it's no wonder the food is so good; he seemed really passionate about food! I wish I could see more chefs working in the kitchen, it really shows how much they care.
Hole in the wall.. I've admittedly only ever shown up to eat here during the weekend brunches. I've been maybe a half dozen times, and have yet to experience anything short of spectacular food. French toast might not be hard to make, but the numerous extra touches, plating, etc. are all superb.
I keep meaning to try dinner service, but always seem to miss the hours to do so (same with lunch).
Friends have tried dinner, and said the ribs were delicious, maybe next week.
Excellent food, beautiful plating, cheap, and a hole in the wall. If I had to nail a flaw, it would be that the restaurant *is* the chef. That means odds of expansion are minimal, and thats a shame.
Wow!. Yep, Amanda has it write below. I've eaten breakfast here twice. The food could be served in a 5 star hotel and it's very very cheap for what you get. Want decor and fancy service - go somewhere else. One thing they need to do is wash out the stains in their coffee cups. However, back to the food - I'd hire this chef to cater for my boss in my house. The man knows his flavors - nuff said.
Fantastic!. Every time we eat here, I'm amazed at how good the food is. The decor is a little bland - sort of diner meets coffee shop. Some of the decor is left over from the cafe that was there before Junction Eatery opened. But who cares about the decor when everything else is soooo good? Every dish we've ever had looks great, and tastes even better. We stopped in this weekend and had the special - stuffed French toast with peaches. Unbelievably yummy.
The service is friendly but not overbearing. They were even able to accommodate a large group of us for mothers day when everything else was booked.
Relaxed, low key atmosphere, good prices, and very good food. I highly recommend this place!
Great New Place in the Junction!. We went for dinner and shared the Goat Cheese Pop Up as an appetizer, and had the pickerel special and the dinner salad as mains. The Junction Eatery now has a liquor license, so we also had beer and wine.
The food was very tasty and very nicely plated. Not what you would expect at prices well below $15. Portion sizes are a bit on the small size, but at these prices, it's still very affordable if you add an appetizer or two, and well worth it.
We'll be back, often, we expect. Five out of Five!
Love It. WunderKar is located next door to The Junction Eatery so I'm there quite a bit. I highly recommend it for breakfast, lunch or tea.
Derrick is a great chef who makes everything fresh and he always uses some great spicing in his food that elevates it from the ordinary.
Two thumbs up from WunderKar!
Great Brunch. Had brunch at The Junction Eatery last weekend and really enjoyed it. Until recently there hasn't been a good place to have a really good brunch in the Junction. The food is fresh and the menu has a great variety. Good addition to the Junction.
Excellent Eatery. We ate at the Juntion Eatery on the weekend and had a marvelous brunch. The food was excellent and the menu was small but varied. We could tell the food was made from fresh ingredients.
Our new brunch spot in the Junction for sure.
Superb and (too) Reasonable. We came by for brunch excited to try something new.
We had the beef brisket hash brown and were thoroughly impressed! The food was beautiful and the price was incredible! We will definitely return in the very near future.
Great experience overall!

Worth the walk!. What a pleasant surprise to have 'Derek choose the Junction to debut his original creatively delicious works. good on yuh brother! Now all we need is a liquor license send out positive vibrations for only great things to come to Derek...cause your being here is certainly a good thing come to us...
New favourite. Had brunch here last week. Decor is great improvement from previous owner, and the food was very good.
I can highly recommend the smoked brisket hash.
Waitress and chef were both friendly.
Very happy to see imaginative food, cooked by a chef who really cares, in the junction.
Superb. Don't eat here with anyone you'd be embarassed to lick your plate in front of. The decor needs work, but the menu is very creative and the food is beyond delicious. I have found my default brunch spot, hands down.
Regular. I live across the street and am in here at least once a week. The Eatery is everything it should be and more. The menu is creative, well executed, and offers enough variety to please all. You will not be disappointed.
Jewel in the Junction. The service was prompt, the place clean, and the food selection provided ample selection (even though there aren't many items, there is variety).
I went with a few co-workers and we were pleasantly surprised to find such a nice place in the area.
Would go again.
Prices are reasonable as well.
Who knew such a pleasant place was in the Junction?!
Went for brunch and was extremely impressed. It was great to go to a place with different, imaginative brunch options for a very reasonable price. I had the poached eggs in jalapeño cornbread and my friend had the buttermilk waffles- we were both blown away by the freshness. Will be back! Try it out!
Amazing. Had the Catfish Po Boy sandwich for lunch today and it was amazing. It was exactly what i wanted, pan fried, not deep fried and the salad it came with had a great dressing. For 8.50, it was amazing! Definitely need to go back here!
Delicious!. I have never reviewed a restaurant before out of pure laziness, but I had to write something for this place. I've been there for lunch a few times and the food is perfect everytime. For the price it is amazing and my new favourite place in the Junction.
Not only is the food delicious, but the kitchen is spotless. I can't remember the last time I had a burger where I actually witnessed the chef use fresh meat to make the patty in front of me.
If you are in the neighbourhood you must try this place!
Very tasty and reasonably priced.. Had a fantastic brunch with a little one in tow. Quiche special with blistered tomatoes was almost too good to share, as was homemade jam on a fluffy lemon scone. I like seeing into kitchens, and got great unrushed service from all. Great addition to the Junction, and I look forward to checking them out for dinner as the menu certainly appeals.
The Junction Triangle continues to pop with worthwhile new restaurants. Roux (love the name) is one of the standouts. Its lunchtime and I’m here with my
