Wonderful surprise. Hidden treasure just off Yonge St. Superb service and excellent cuisine. Loved the heritage building and stained glass windows. Loved hearing a little bit about the history of the building from staff that obviously go the extra step. Bravo!
Great dining experience with friends on New Year's Eve. The food was awesome, wine was great and the service was awesome. Can't wait to go back again, especially for the mushroom risotto!
This place is really nice, they doo actually have nice steaks and their selections of wines is actually not bad as well. Just be mindful that this will not be a cheap meal
Carman’s Club was a popular steakhouse opened in the 60’s, often frequented by visiting celebrities and a neighbourhood gem. The restaurant changed hands in 2010 after the original Mr. Carman passed away and reopened at the end of 2014 with a slight change in spelling as Carmen’s Steakhouse. What piqued my interest in the restaurant was the new young , Asian chef heading the kitchen. I was lucky enough to win a $60 gift card from Goatroti, who posted a great interview with Chef Forrest Liu, which propelled Carmen’s to the top of my restaurant queue.
I haven't heard about Carmen's, but I've seen many pictures and reviews from others so I was very excited to give this place a visit. We were seated in one of the rooms on the side, which was quite nice as it looks like we booked out the entire place!

Overall, we both had a great time here! The service was impeccable, and we both had a very enjoyable experience here. I would highly recommend visiting Carmen's if you're in the area and craving some amazing steak and bomb black cod!!
Spent a rainy Monday night here, and was very thankful for the warm fireplace. Really enjoyed the Cod entre and suggest it to those looking to try something new. Dimly lit but added to the ambiance.
I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant! My husband and I came for a Tuesday date night and we definitely picked a neighbourhood gem. The restaurant has a very historic feel with lots of charm and character but the food was amazing. We ordered a beef carpaccio to start, the miso black cod on risotto and rack of lamb for dinner. I wish we weren't so stuffed as I would have liked to try dessert. There is a tasting menu that we will definitely be back to try. It's a bit pricey but worth it because everything was absolutely perfect. The staff were also very kind and attentive.
I don't often eat at restaurants of this stature but my boyfriend treated me and boy what a treat! I ordered the cod and my date had the more classic NY striploin. He eats his steak blue and often complains how over-cooked it always turns out but in this case he was thrilled! The fish was very well done and beautifully presented on a spinach risotto.
There weren't many other guests which I understand is common at this type of establishment and it made us feel very important! I would definitely choose this place for another special occasion!!
Oh my god. Why is everything so perfect here. Even the couscous. Who cooks couscous like that...! Our waiter wasn't lying when he said the steak and the braised beef were the best dishes there. I will probably make it my mission to eat here for dinner every night. The dishes are pricey but I'm willing to eat my way into poverty.

The hostess greeted us with a very warm welcome and we always had someone to talk to when we needed something. The service was very professional.
The server explained the NEW Carmen's Steak House is under new management and the things they are doing to honour the house's history. Carman passed away in 2009 but the new management still kept the decor and serve a steak house menu. The owner actually worked for Carman for three months in 1999 and because the house held so much importance in heart, he purchased it to protect it and everything inside. The new owner has faced many obstacles including a flood, a fire and countless walls to overcome to get the restaurant up and running again. It took almost five years before the house could be reopened.
I came across this beautiful historical building restaurant through a Travel Zoo deal, $99 for Dinner for Two with Wine Pairing. This is an EVEN BETTER DEAL than Summerlicious!
This is the menu we had: Signature Caesar or Spicy Steak Tartare- Signature Caesar dressing made in house, intense garlic falvour- Spicy Steak Tartare is the freshest I have ever had: the pickles, capers and brandy flavours were very well balanced and not overpowering
Seared Scallops or Miso Black Cod- Scallops were cooked perfect! The flavours were very balanced. I have never had jasmine with seafood and it is such a nice compliment. - Miso Black Cod just melts in your mouth, I am definitely coming back for this dish

- Honestly the BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD!
- Every steak is seared with a beautiful crust and juicy inside
- The server told us that there are 13 grades of meat in Canada. Canadian Prime is the top 2% of all beef produced in Canada
-The beef jus flavour is so intense but not too sweet and not too salty like other steak houses I have been to
Coconut Creme Brulee
- I hate Coconut but I love this! The coconut is not pungent or overpowering
- The cookie, almonds and frozen blueberry add so much texture and complexity to this dish. Unforgettable! I have never had anything like it
My wife and I really enjoyed every single course and want to let everyone know what a WONDERFUL PLACE this is. If you have not eaten here, you are really missing out. I travel often for work and some of the Michelin star restaurants I have had in Chicago and New York cannot even compare to this restaurant!
Carmen's, under new management, has really impressed me. Chef Forest and his lovely wife are accommodating, warm and friendly and made my lunch experience amazing:) When the calamari arrived at the table, I had to stop and stare at it for a while because it was a work of art. It came with a lovely garlic aioli and was light and crispy. The caesar salad had great crunch and an abundance of parmesan cheese. The burger was juicy, thick and full of flavour and as silly as it may sound, the fries that came alongside the burger were so delicious that we indulged in a second round.
Great spot with such classic decor. Great staff, great owners and even better food.
The food was truly mind blowing. The Miso Black Cod and the Peach Salad were truly the best highlights of the evening and we're the most amazing things ever! The decor is very dated, but brings a lovely sense of history.
Lastly Chef Forrest and his wife Karan are truly the most lovely couple with if dreams.
