This was my first time trying Okonomiyaki. We ordered a chicken Okonomiyaki, a shrimp Okonomiyaki and a mixed vegetable appetizer. The Okonomiyaki here is amazing which is probably why this restaurant is always frequented by U Toronto students. 10/10 recommend. The okonomiyaki sauce is tangy and all the flavors work perfectly together. Would definitely recommend the shrimp Okonomiyaki!
This forever-been-there lovely bright Japanese restaurant specializes in the Japanese Okonomi pancake with assorted fillings, the pictured one being the veg option. Other Japanese dishes - especially Teriyaki are delicious as well. Follow up with their delicious crème caramel dessert. The staff are delightful.
I've been a returning customer to Okonomi House for over 20 years! My kids grew on this food! This is the best Japanese dining in Toronto by far! Place is small, but almost always packed, if there is no space you can wait or just have a seat at the dinning bar and wait for a table. This is friendly family business, courteous, professional and with a smile! Menu offers most delicious Japanese style omelet OKONOMI with chicken or beef, my preferable is Yakiniku dinner, amazingly sautéed beef with sprouts. I hope they stay open for years to come!
I think it's been a year since I first bookmarked Okonomi House on Zomato. I think it's rare to find traditional okonomiyaki in Tdot. This popular savoury pancake from Japan is a popular food item primarily found in Hiroshima and Kansai but can be found throughout Japan with variations of the dish. Okonomiyaki is derived from the word okonomi -meaning: How you like or What you like and Yaki- meaning: Grill. There we have it: How you like it- Grilled!?🤗🍳
Okonomi House sits close to all shopping amenities nesting in the core downtown area. The seating is very limited as it's a small and cozy. The menu is primarily taken over by the okonomiyaki varieties but also enclosed are some classic Japanese comfort favorites. Such as: yakisoba, teriyaki and some rice dishes. I love how simple the menu is. I truly believe if an eatery offers solid good food staples is by far more successful than offering an abundance with poorly executed dishes.
I selected the most extravagant okonomiyaki! 😄I went with the seafood deluxe. It was simply scrumptious! There were tiger shrimp, scallops, squid and crab sticks. There was a lot of seafood enclosed in the okonomiyaki that allowed me to have spoonfuls after spoonfuls of delectable soft egg and seafood. It was very delicious. The sweet sauce and kewpie mayo acts as the essence of this dish and upon spreading it thoroughly over the pancake, instantly adds magic to my already irristable okonomiyaki! Yums!🤗 The yakisoba was also done very well. With lots of fresh meat and shrimp accompanied with saucy delicious noodles!
I definitely recommend Okonomi House. Quick tip: Come during the day as it can get very busy during dinner time. Tip 2: Come hungry! 😄 Okonomi House is good place to go if you love traditional okonomiyaki and Japanese comfort food!😊😋🍳🍴🍥🍚
super nice place to grab genuine Okonomi before watching movies in Bloor Cineplex VIP theatre. However, you probably need waiting in a long line in dinner times
Tried the squid okonomiyaki and the yaki udon. The food came very quickly and everything tasted authentic and yummy! The okonomiyaki wasn't as filling as I'd hoped but it was slathered in sauce and the inside is soft and fluffy.
Great price and tasty food and best friend! I like the chicken okonomiyaki here! I took quite a long time to decide whether I should take the chicken or seafood one. Finally chicken wins!
This restaurant is about a block away from my place and it’s such a great place to have nearby. The okonomiyaki is great and cheap (except the seafood deluxe – but they don’t hold back on the seafood, so it’s all good). I’ve also had the chicken teriyaki here, and it’s also great - it’s not dry unlike many other places. I like the ambiance at night with the red lights – but it makes it hard to take any decent pics.
Very good okonomiyaki for the price. Unlike many other restaurants, okonomiyaki is filled with enough seafood to make you satisfied. The waiters are friendly too. I always recommend this place to my friends and have been a regular customer since my first visit two years ago.
