Great little place for take out pies. The crust on they pies is awesome, love the beef n beer pie the most, but all are good. Can also get uncooked frozen pies here and cook at home later. These pies are made on site.

Take it from an Australian - these are tasty pies! The classic Beef 'n Beer is exactly what a pie should be. The Braised Beef Rib is delicious, and reminds me of the home-made pies available back home, with delicious gravy and big chunks of beef. Their dessert pies are also quite genius, with some classics (Banana Cream, Apple Crumble) as well as some inventive and interesting flavours such as the peanutbutter cup which is filled with tasty peanutbutter cream and topped with chocolate.
The pastry is flaky and delicious, well cooked, and holds its form beautifully (though the little pie pans are a welcome addition for those not accustomed to eating them by hand).
Eating in at the Dundas St W store is always a delight, and the take-home frozen option is perfect for when you just want to sit at home and do some good old fashioned pie binge-eating.

These pies are small and on the pricey side, but they taste amazing! I haven't had a pie from them which i haven't liked.  Definitely my personal favourite place for meat pies in the city

Why are there not more places like the Pie Commission around Toronto!!

The Pie Commission is a small hole in the wall that is making flaky meat pies out the side door like it's illegal. The pies they are baking are individual sized pies that are the perfect lunch. If you don't know what it's like, imagine various flavors of chicken pot pie. Though the place is tiny inside, they have lounge chairs and picnic tables outside. Most of their pies are roughly around $7-8 and you can make it a meal by adding a side of slaw or fries for $9.98 total.

They have several staple pies like Beef N Beer, Curry Chicken, and Braised Beef, but they also have specialty pies based on the season. I was actually hoping for shrimp and lobster pie, but they didn't have any, so I opted for another special, the Steak N Cheese.

The Steak and Cheese pie wasn't steak, but was still good. It is actually beef brisket with mozzarella cheese, gravy, and onions. The brisket meat was tender and juicy, while cheese and onions help to complement the flavor. But honestly guys, the best part of the meal was surprisingly that flaky f***in crust. That crust was so done so damn well with the flakiness and buttery flavor holding everything in. You could pretty much argue that the crust was better than the fillings. Hard to say that for most of these meals.

The place is literally a hole in the wall. You'll find a door attached to the side wall of a salon by the Queensway. The service was real friendly and the people whip up their pies rather quickly and have them heated and ready for us folks. Definitely a must try for anyone who loves flaky savory goodness.

Probably the best steak & cheese pie I've ever had. I ordered it as a combo and had the fries. Fries were fresh cut style and pretty good. I tried the coleslaw - I wouldn't order that again. The pie I selected was from the seasonal menu. The establishment is a to-go style restaurant with outdoor seating. Even though my pie had a small piece of tin foil on the inside, I will definitely be back.

I had the braised beef rib with a side of coleslaw and my wife had the smokey steak and cheese with a side of fries. The pies were savoury and delicious. Warm and fulfilling. The cole slaw was a little lacklustre but the fries made up for it. In general, I'd say blood good pies!

I WILL be back. I bought a few pies today -Braised Beef Rib (my favourite), butter chicken, banana chocolate with marshmallow whip and coconut. The flakiness, buttery-est crust. So very good. This just might be Etobicoke'a finest secret.

Who doesn't love pies. I decide to grab lunch and run back to the office to eat. I ordered the Beer & Beef with fries and a Blueberry Cheesecake. The fries were ok and the Beer & Beef pies was good. The pie crust was so crispy. The beef was seasoned very well. I really enjoyed it. As for Blueberry Cheesecake it was delicious. I'm looking forward to going back an trying the other items on the menu. My only complaint which is not a real complaint. The place is a bit tricky to find.

Love the pies..They are delicious and the quality of ingredients shows, fresh cut fries are great too....I would give it a "5" if they had seating for lunch and maybe a few more sides to offer.

Tucked behind a factory outlet just west of the city on The Queensway in Etobicoke is a trendy little take-out spot dishing out a variety of homemade gourmet and savoury meat pies. If you’re a pie lover or are waiting to try the right one, you’re going to want to make your way to The Pie Commission right now (only after reading this post, of course!). Inspired by traditional meat pies from England and Australia, The Pie Commission offers options with some really unique flavours. Open for almost two years now, their pies are quickly becoming popular in a city where diners crave something unique and delicious.

After following the signs when you arrive and making your way to the back of the building, you’ll be greeted by a large, mustachioed, top hat wearing sign. The bold black and white, vintage inspired signs definitely make this place stand out and the front is decked out with bright, red patio furniture and the smell of freshly baked pies. But don’t let the location intimidate you, these pies are definitely worth the trip; and with the option of ordering hot and fresh pies for now or taking a frozen pack home for later, you’re covered when it comes to pie cravings any time, any day.

The pies are baked fresh daily, with all-natural, local ingredients like premium cuts of meat, market fresh produce and homemade just about anything. The genius behind The Pie Commission is chef and pie magician Owen Sokoloski, who talks to us while he mixes a batch of some test recipes he’s currently working on. Making the pies is a labor-intensive process; a lot of work goes into them and most importantly, a lot of love – which you can definitely taste in the finished product. The all-butter crust is flaky and tender and melts in your mouth without giving you an unappetizing after taste that store bought freezer dough does.

We tried a few pies at our last visit and were seriously blown away by each one. The Braised Beef Rib ($7.95) is one of their original recipes and also happens to be one of their best sellers. With big chunks of slow braised beef, cooked with sweet potato and mushrooms in a homemade veal stock and red wine reduction, this meaty pie is full of rich flavours and the pie crust gives this gourmet pie a little bit of extra texture and goodness.

We also tried one of their more exotic flavours, The Butter Chicken ($7.45). This spiced pie is packed with tender pieces of chicken, complimented with a coconut milk base and chickpeas, leeks and cauliflowers to help add some depth. The Veg-licious ($7.45) is just as the name suggests, packed with veggies like kale, broccoli, millet and cauliflower to make up the body of this super-food packed pie. A hint of tomato sauce and goat’s cheese adds a little bit of flavour and tang that really makes the vegetables pop. The pie shell adds a delicious flaky texture and compliments each of the fillings perfectly.

The baked goodness doesn’t stop at savoury pies; they also offer a variety of sweet pies to satisfy your sweet tooth. From classic fruit crumble pies that change depending on what’s in season to some really unique flavours and even some you wouldn’t expect in a pie. The S’mores pie ($5.95) featured the same buttery crust as the savoury pies but filled with a decadent chocolate filling, topped with toasted, gooey marshmallows and topped with a graham cracker cookie that is amazing just on its own.

With such a variety of flavours, The Pie Commission aims to reinvent what you know the traditional savoury meat pie to be. The menu is constantly rotating, as they bring in seasonal and themed pies all the time. With future plans to possibly expand, for now you’ll want to make to make your way to Etobicoke for some bloody good pies.
