Absolutely amazing food, amazing portions and amazing servers. The hospitality was extremely warm and welcoming. Each dish was loaded with meat. Everything tasted delicious. It was worth every penny. Will be visiting the place a lot more often.
Chicken chilli is the best and no place better than yueh tung to try that.
With a good hot plate of shirmp fried rice, some beef crispy, roasted pork, the sake shots. Well i had to skip the desert. This place was amazing. One of the best food i have had in toronto. Really fresh, tasty, relishing! Yueh tung is a must try!
This place is amazing!! Yesterday, March 20, 2018, I and my boyfriend were traveling through Toronto and made a stop for some quick lunch.
They offered tea as soon as you are seated, the meals were prepared quickly and tasted delicious! Very friendly service and our hostess was so polite and friendly :)
Definitely recommend to all who come to this area and definitely will be stopping by again! 🤗
Loved the food here. Chilly chicken , chicken Manchurian, chicken egg foo Yong were amazing. Lot of rush , may take time for order to get delivered but worth the wait. Great place for Hakka chinese.expansive menu
A spacious restaurant with a nice interior and friendly quick service will make Hakka Chinese food lovers want to come back to YT.
The food is tasty and the complimentary green tea is well matched.
The Cantonese fried rice had a wonderful aroma and the perfect Hakka Chinese flavour which could have been eaten plain. We also ordered the sweet and sour pork which was cooked perfectly and the pork was perfectly deep fried yet juicy and tender. However the sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking but tasty.
Would I go back? Definitely
I've been here a couple times after hearing they had great lunch special deals.
And indeed, for $8 you get a massive plate of food.
You walk up a flight of stairs (or take an elevator?) and you'll find yourself facing a huge room.
Someone will greet you eventually.
The place can get busy during lunch rush, and if you're coming in a small group (say, 2 or 3) you might be seated at a large round table with other small groups. But this isn't unusual; lots of chinese places do it. Of course, they will ask you whether you are willing to sit with strangers or continue to wait. Choice is good right?
Lunch menu comes with plenty of options that should satisfy most tastes or needs: lots of chicken, beef, pork, seafood, and vegetable dishes to choose from. There are spicy options and non-spicy options. You don't necessarily have to order off the lunch menu either; if you need some wonton soup or whatever just let them know and they'll make it for you.
Lunch specials come in a huge plate with rice covering half the plate and meat covering the other half. It's quite a generous portion of meat.
One thing to note is they tend to drench your dish in sauce, but you can ask for less or no sauce if you want more crunch on your meat.
The food is pretty average to me, but it tastes good and there's plenty of it so what's there to complain about? Perhaps lack of vegetables in a lot of the meat dishes, but if you're getting more meat in exchange for vegetables, not a problem, I can just bring my own bok choy.
Eveything tastes fine and hot...just a lil expensive for me........otherwise its all good. Gives a good amount of meat so no skimpy..otherwise if a lil cheaper wud give 5
One of the best Chinese restaurants in downtown. I simply fell in love with the flavours of the Vegetable Mapo Tofu. Extremely busy during lunch hours but good service. The place to visit for a sumptuous Chinese meal.
My department had an impromptu lunch at this Hakka restaurant close to city hall. Â We had to make a 11:30am reservation for a party of 14. Â They had done some renovations to the inside to make it a more desirable dining destination. Their lunch menu ($7.50-$8.99) consists of mostly Chinese rice dishes with some Hakka items thrown in. Â My table mostly ordered the Manchurian Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, Vegetable Fried Rice, and Chicken Cashews. Â I ordered their Shrimp with Lobster sauce. Â The shrimps were very tasty and lobster (black bean sauce with egg) sauce was outstanding. Â The waiter did rush us to place our order and ask for the bill. Â He was a bit of a nuisance but there were a lot of people waiting outside for a table. Â We just enjoyed his service on a humorous level.
Homely and Delicious. One of my favourite places to eat. I always get their Chilli Chicken, either on rice or fried noodle. I've been there countless times, and the waiters/waitresses are very accommodating.
Revisited the restaurant this summer, looks like there has been some changes. Food is still good, especially the crispy beef. Price is reasonable. Washrooms are much better.
My family has been coming here since the 70's. the old location was across the street. The food is absolutely the best around. Everybody I bring here says I was right and it is the best Chinese food they have ever had. Always fresh and hot. I hope this place stays around for a lot longer because we have 3rd generations eating here and we hope to continue the tradition.
If you are looking for an upscale restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, look somewhere else; if you are looking for some authentic chinese/hakka dishes, at a reasonable price, this is it. Yes its a bit run down, and yes the staff are not the friendliest, but the food is amazing! I have been coming here for many years, many years, and the food has always been great. (and its the SAME staff for the most part..) Thats why the line-up at lunch time is out the door. If you go there, get the chili chicken; thats the best dish they have.
Have been going there for years. Curry shrimp or curry beef on rice are our favorites!
The best Hakka food in Toronto!!. The absolute best. Atmosphere is definitely NOT upscale but, the minute you taste the food, from the Manchurian or Chili Chickens to the Sweet Hakka noodles...or pretty much anything on the menu, you don't even notice the surroundings anymore. You're hooked!
Fast service, wonderful food. We often drive the almost 60 miles to eat here!!
Good food, BBQ plate was fatty. The wait for it was to be desired.
We first tried their Manchurian chicken about 6 years ago and have been visiting twice month since. We have tried other dishes but this is our favorite foe sure. We have brought members of our family from the suburbs who normally won't eat anything but meat and potatoes and thy have always found something that they like too.
Delicious Chinese at a cheap price!. They're famous for their chili chicken & chili fish. Also their manchurian chicken although we've yet to try it. It's not as spicy as the chili version so if you prefer spicy, go for the chili version. You can ask for extra sauce too (free). We prefer the chili fish dry though - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! Perfect! Fried rice is tasty too! Yum! We go almost every week!
Definitely a fave. It doesn't have the authentic Hakka you might find out in Scarborough, but the chili beef and fish are two of my fave dishes. (I found the chili chicken a bit too greasy, personally. Good dish if you wanna try it, but I've had better.) The actual restaurant is very busy during the lunch hour; if you order, order ahead by phone and pick it up.
The restaurant is surprisingly bright for being a Chinese restaurant...you walk up the stairs (FYI it is a long staircase and i don't think there's elevator access) and the room is fully windows on two sides, and the decor is pretty simple.
This place was completely off my radar. I never knew it existed even though its probably a century year old. It's mixed in with a dozen of mom and pop restaurants, in which the types of cuisine are dizzying and difficult to keep up with. It's also off a side street, on the second floor of a building, sealed by thick giant doors. Nevertheless, I'm glad I know about it now and I'm glad I ordered the chili chicken.Picture a clean, spacious and slightly modern. Chinese restaurant, with a combination of booth and table seating. Hard isn't it? To my surprise, I sat there, patiently, looking across such a place, as I described above, while reading a traditional Chinese menu. It was a great feeling. I hear its packed at lunch, which I can and can't believe. Can because the food is both delicious and fair priced, can't because the space is large and seating is ample. The thing to get is chili chicken on sizzling plate and make it dry so its crispy instead of the wet version which is saucier and less crispy. Order a bowl of plain white rice to tone down the spiciness and to also mute some of that robust flavour it packs. The combo will make you the happiest camper on the block. Not a fan of any sort of heat (I'd rate this a 6 out of 10 for heat)? maybe stick with any of the classics like the Cantonese chow mein. I had that too, noodles were crispy as they should be and topping was normal too. Nothing to write home about though, keep that pen in your pocket. But chili chicken and I bet, other items on the special menu are definite winners. After 12 bucks you go home super full and satisfied.Overall, its a clean, spacious restaurant with good prices and decent service.I am craving chili chicken right now. Rumours have it, Carlos Delgado (baseball all-star) used to come here and order three plates of chili chicken all to himself. I can understand why, but I hope he had rice too. Its a bit salty otherwise.
