Bonjour Brioche on Queen just west of Jimmie Simpson Park is a lovely French café in a period house with a shaded patio serving great French brasserie fare, such as the pictured croques, tasty pastries especially noting the clafoutis and lemon tart, and of course fresh baguettes. Staff are friendly and efficient even when the brunchies flood it on the weekends.
A perfect point for food lovers, they
have different varieties of burger in their
store. Golden salads is my
favourite and a worth giving a shot. They
don't have much seating arrangement but you can
buy and take your popcorn for your walk
journey.
Came here on a Saturday morning and got a table right away (ya I know!). Service was great and the food was amazing. I had some egg special of the day and tried a few scones. Defiantly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch. FYI Cash only. Make sure you come early.
For lovers of good French patisserie and who will do anything for a properly made croissant, this is the best place to go. The croissants, pain au chocolat, and brioche are all made every morning and are so irresistable that I can never eat just one! Their house baked breads (especially the foccacia) are delicious, and if you go on a weekend, the spicy bacon sandwich has to be tried. They also have a chocolate cake that will satisfy any chocolate craving.
It gets very busy on weekends so I would consider ordering to go.
Absolutely delicious! So glad we drove down here to try this place. We came on a Saturday afternoon around 3:00pm so there wasn't much of a line up.
We ordered the quiche Lorraine with salad. It was SO good! Light, creamy & delicious! Will order that again for sure. The other item we ordered was the Croque Madame. This was also very nice but the quiche was better.
If I could I would have, I would have tried everything. Guess I'll have to make another trip down here again soon.
Went to this neighbourhood because it was close to a wedding dress shop my friend was trying a dress at. Arrived at around 10 am, to a lineup of around 8 people in front of us.
The wait was not too long, around 15 minutes. We sat outside in the heated patio. It was warm, not too bad.
Ordered the smoked salmon scrambled eggs, and the brioche. Scrambled eggs were alright, fluffy but nothing spectacular, my friends ordered the benedicts with salad which looked more impressive.
Service was very slow however...
Also ordered a few croissants to go because of the sign that said they were voted best croissants in Toronto, which may be true if only to say that Toronto croissants are really not that amazing... Similar to the good croissants at aroma express bar.
When my plate arrived, it was just what nice brunches are made of – savoury, filling and downright comforting. I even almost finished the side salad as the bitterness of the fresh greens contrasted with the richness of the egg. Finished off with such smooth coffee, it was one of those moments where you find yourself in that blissful headspace.
The spicy bacon sandwich served on the weekends is to die for. Yes, there's usually a line-up out the back door in this cramped, busy spot. And yes, they won't seat you unless your entire party is present. But the French bread is perfect, the fresh juices are delicious and their house salad dressing is awesome.
Came for Brunch today and of course there was a long line. The weather being quite mild, the patio was open with heaters, thus the line went by quickly. Had the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, chive, caviour and potato rosti. The only complaint was the potato rosti was dried and cold..that wasn't prepared freshly. I couldn't resist their croissants so I got some chocolate croissants to go! They are the best!
One of the indulgent pleasures of winter is slipping off for a mid-week lunch to catch up with a friend on a rare sunny and windless January afternoon in Toronto. Continuing my exploration of Riverside/Leslieville gastronomy, I suggested stopping at
Adorable little brunch place! Arrived at 2pm and there was a ~15 minute wait. Ordered a croque Madame and my friend ordered an Americano and a mixed green salad. Service was a little slow...The croque Madame was exactly how I expected it to be - crunchy bread, soft on the inside, perfectly sunny side up egg; a little salt from the ham. It came with a mixed green salad. The salad dressing was delish (it's no wonder they sell bottles of it near the bar). The some of the salad greens were a little wilted but the salad dressing made up for it. Overall, a decent brunch place with an adorable ambiance (and a patio) but I probably won't be back again!
Egg Benedict is the best I've ever tasted.. Pretty decent place to have a lazy weekend brunch. I go there often. Personally love this place.....

The best spot for brunch in Toronto! Everything they sell is amazing! I just wish they were bigger so we can sit comfortably and be able to go with a large group of friends. Also wish they would accept cards.
I really like the egg Benedict. Go early on weekend to avoid the crown and bad service.
Quite possibly the best croissant I have had in Toronto.
Bit higher than single $ posted. My Eggs Benedict was $14 + coffee + taxes + tip = $20 per person and we were four. Food excellent, well presented, eclectic surroundings. Really disappointed with the cheapest cutlery (not befitting price and atmosphere).
Love the food, the ambience! everything is execellent except the wait but it's worthy
Delicious food but the portions are tiny. The French Toast, while amazing, only came with 2 slides and the Chorizo omelette was tasty but small. More please!
Incredibly Delicious Brunch!. If you're looking for a great place to grab brunch, look no further: Bonjour Brioche is absolutely amazing. Ever since I passed by this little gem for the first time a few months ago, I've been dying to try it. The smell wafting from the place was amazing! This morning (around 11 or so) I came here for brunch with my boyfriend. We were lucky to beat the brunch/lunch rush at 12. (Yes. It's true. This is DEFINITELY one of the city's worst-kept secrets. arrive early if you want to get seated right away! Otherwise, be prepared to wait!) Once you walk in, you'll be greeted by some quaint, modest decor and a lovely display of fresh baked goods! There was also a huge cooling rack filled with croissants, baguettes and other goodies.
I ordered one of the quiche du jour (it was a quiche lorraine with ham, cheddar and onions for 9.50), and my bf ordered the croque madame (a hot, brioche sandwich with ham and cheese, topped with an egg! 9.50, I think). We also ordered a pain au chocolat (1.80) to share. The food came out quite quickly (within 10 minutes, I would say) and oh my goodness the food was to DIE for. The pain au chocolat was unbelievable buttery and the hint of dark chocolate in the middle was a really nice surprise. Please try the croissants if you come here. They are fantastic! The quiche was really fluffy, very light, with a lovely golden and flaky crust. The croque madame was quite delicious as well! Both dishes came with a beautiful green salad, topped with a fresh-tasting vinaigrette.
Prices were reasonable, the service was pretty good (except for a few kinks. They thought we didn't pay for our meal as we were leaving the restaurant...haha, really?!). The food was so amazing and I was so impressed with my visit that I can overlook service issues. Lovely place. Will definitely return! Even if I don't get to sit down, I will go back to have another taste of their croissants!
Bonjour brunch!. This is one of my favorite spots! With friends...with my partner or on my own! The tarts are lovely... And the bread tastes soooo fresh!! And the "catering" option is fabulous for business or social gatherings!
Destination Brunch. This is a must stop for brunch when I'm in TO, especially in the summer. I have always found the service friendly!
I tend to go for the quiche or special. The crocque madame is wonderful but so much food! The baguettes are perfect and the slab of butter served with it is much appreciated! Chocolate croissants to go on the way out.
Nice place - the baking and breakfasts are better than average, but be prepared to wait, and for a crowded space. Better once the outside tables open up.
French toast & Croque Madam. Try those 2 items on the menu - they are AMAZING!!! The baked French toast is like a cinnamon raisin buttery sweet cloud and the maple syrup is phenomenal. The Croque Madam is the perfect breakfast "sandwich" - brioche, cheese, ham, with a fried egg...awesome!
Tight but Tasty. That Bonjour Brioche has the best brunch in the city is one of the worst kept secrets. You will wait quite a while for a seat, you will be cramped once seated and you might be too hot but it will all be worth it at first bite. The croissants are just like I remember them in Paris, the coffee is richly brewed and I have yet to order something I didn't absolutely love. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best place in Toronto to go for brunch ... as long as you have a little patience.
Heavenly!. Walk in the door and you're greeted with the heavenly aroma of butter with a hint of coffee. If you are lucky enough to find a seat, try the croques monsieur...perfectly prepared and served with a side of brioche and unsalted butter. Delicious!
Don't be fooled, if it's good enough for Bill Cosby..... Based on the one-sheet menu and curt service you might think you'd made a mistake, but once things get going you're in for a brunch treat.
It seemed like the default answer was instantly "no", but don't be dissuaded, keep prodding about lactose-free options, or whether they can make poached eggs, etc. Also, the daily specials make up for the menu.
The service warmed up after the first pass and we found out that Bill Crosby had in fact eaten there and was down to earth, ordered his own food and was happy to sign a picture that now hangs on the wall.
The food rocks. The brioche with lemon custard and raspberry is delicious. The poached egg benedict with salmon was delicious. Their salad and namesake dressing is great and can be bought to go.
Would definitely go back. The french toast is supposed to be good. Will try that next time....
To die for. Amaaaaazing quiches and tarts. Melt in your mouth food (likely because it's not "light"!). Just be prepared for a wait, never go with more than a group of 3-4. We always get there earlier to not have to wait too long. Perfect coffee, cappuccinos etc to compliment the meal.
Fresh bread, long line ups. This is a popular brunch spot in the east end serving up freshly baked baguettes, croissants, quiches of various varieties. They have great almond croissants and roast beef and brie sandwich served on a generously sized baguette for under $10.
Best baguette in city?. Certainly one of them.
Not the best service, but that is well-known.
If you are not on a cholestrol-restricted diet, or lactose-intolerant, the quiches and tartes are really excellent. Classic options as well as inventive ones (fig, gorgonzola, pear).
Closes early, and not open on Mondays (when I most want a fresh baguette).
Tasty food, hard to get a seat. The brunch is excellent but it's very difficult to get a table on the weekend. Try visiting during the week.

TM and I finally made our way to BONJOUR BRIOCHE the quiant little riverside breakfast spot. We made sure to stop and get cash before we dined as this joint is cash only. Grabbing breakfast here during the week was a nice treat as on the weekends there can be line ups out the door to sit on their patio. When you look around at the tables you can tell that they specialize in fresh baked goods as every one seems to be enjoying fresh croissants, baked treats and breads, but don't be fooled they make some pretty tasty eggs as well. The SMOKED SALMON AND SCRAMBLED EGGS were delicious. The soft fluffy scramble was mixed with chives, and toped with creamed horseradish and caviar all on top of a crispy potato rosti. It certainly was a mouth full of flavour but it was also quite rich. The TOMATO BASIL AND GOAT CHEESE QUICHE was served with mixed greens and their fa
Our waiter had thick-framed glasses and tried hard to act French, when pronouncing the items on the menu - a bit overdone for my liking, but polite nonetheless. I decided to try their Croque Madam, as it was the only brioche consisting dish, while Cheri had their meatloaf sandwich. As we waited, we enjoyed the smallest wall, as it was completely filled with frames. It had a certain charm to it. Throughout our wait, Edith Pief songs were making my day.
Bonjour Brioche is hands down my favourite breakfast/brunch place in Toronto. They have amazing food with amazing prices, not only that they bake their own breads and everything is made in house, they also have a killer salad dressing that you can purchase.
After polishing off our food, our server brought over a platter of desserts to tempt us. Bonjour Brioche has a great selection of housemade tarts which I would’ve gladly eaten had I not been so stuffed.
I discovered the bakery cafe from watching the show Toronto Dining and also saw it was listed as number 3 on the Best French Toast in the city on blogTO.com . I had to go check this place out since I've been drooling over it ever since I saw the review. When we first arrived there was already a lineup with people standing outside of the cafe. This instantly got me excited since I thought there's a lineup at 11:30am on a Sunday morning. It had to be good since people are actually up this early and waiting in line for brunch. Yes I consider it early since I normally don'
You will however find there: the flakiest of pastries; the perfect mouth-feel baguette with a thin crispy crust, yet light and airy inside; perfectly tart lemon curd; and one hell-of-a croque madame.
Friends and strangers were constantly telling me lots of lovely things about Bonjour Brioche. They have a very loyal and avid brunch fanbase! I was excited to try them out and arrived to a very busy restaurant and a line out the door. Although to be fair, I’ve seen them with a longer line so I was happy to be seated within 15 minutes of arriving even if our table was pressed up against the pastry case. Mmmm… pastries…
We immediately ordered a chocolate croissant and a chai latte. It’s a sweet and perfect way to start your day. Taking advantage of Bonjour Brioche’s daily special we couldn’t resist selecting the Lobster and Shrimp Crepe- Baked and loaded with caramelized onions, lobster and shrimp. And if that isn’t enough they generously cover the whole affair in béchamel sauce.
To finish off our meal, we went back to sweet and picked up a delectable pecan tart with a dollop of whipped cream.
Thank you Bonjour Brioche for filling our bellies with wonderful food! Hope to brunch with you again soon
