Review Sushi Moto - Toronto

Masa K
I am big on sushi and sushi Moto is a nice place to dine in or get takeout. The staff are amazing, helpful and patient. It was my friend first time trying sushi and the waitress patiently explained each of her questions and gave us a complimentary extra salad which was really sweet. The quality of food was good, tasty and fresh! Definitely a place to go next time if you want to try some sushi with beautiful designs! We got sushi pizza and few spicy salmon, tuna, dynamite and chicken noodle! All were tasty and good!

I went with 3 other adults and 2 kids, with the party of 6, we had lot of fun. Our server was awesome. He helped us with our questions and was very friendly. He had his mask on at all time. Before heading there, we did the reservations and was seated without any wait. There was no line up as well. Food was very delicious and we had lots of left over too. Our server didn't hesitate at all to pack it for us. I Used ladies washroom which was downstairs. It was very clean, not smelly, TP stocked up and garbage bin was easily accessible as well. I am definitely coming back and recommending my friends.

If you’re looking for a great delicious a la carte sushi, don’t miss Sushi Moto. It was not busy the time we were there, but we enjoyed every minute there. Waitress was very friendly, Avocado salad was as nice as always I tried it, This time I tried their Avocado tempura, so creamy, crunchy and delicious 😋😋 And the combination of Sashimi, Sushi and Macki was very fresh, The best part was its desert, Ice cream banana tempura, I ordered it two times 😝

Was a good experience. Clean spot. Our server Stephanie was great. The timing for appetizers to entre is nice. One thing I would recommend is a better description of the food on the menu. We though we were ordering ribeye steak but it was cut. Nonetheless was good tasting.

Went on a week night. Not too busy which was nice since I'm still unsure about eating out due to Covid. They've added flexiglass above the booths and people respect safety protocols so you feel safe. The staff are always super friendly and the food is great. I like the fact that there's many booths, also the casual environment where you can watch sports even if there's no sound (not too many to be distracting). It's not Japanese buffet but portions are a good size and I couldn't eat much more anyways. It wasn't my first visit and I'll definitely be back again. Terrikayi chicken bento box was $29 for dinner but I think it's $10 less during lunch (maybe you get a bit less at lunch)
Shopping Hi
Awesome bento! I’m pregnant and was afraid the pandemic might have had an effect on quality, Sushi Moto is always as delicious as before! We love their lunch bento there, really fresh and awesome service!

Worst service that I’ve ever got, the server was in rush and at the end we asked her to split the bill in three and she did it in half and when we asked her we are 3 she was shouting that you’ve asked for half. Then, we left the place and she came after us to say she made a mistake in the bill and we need to pay more. The food was ok but if you are looking to get a service I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.

A great place for sushi, where I'd recommend trying as many rolls as you can. [Food] We ordered the small sushi, which was a good amount for 3 guys. The sushi was very good and I enjoyed every roll we had. I'd definitely come back. [Service] The waitress led us to believe the small sushi wasn't enough but luckily it was enough food.

Very nice atmosphere. I don't know if it's the best sushi place in Toronto but is the best sushi place I've been. Fantastic food fresh and tasty!!! The tempura is the best ! For sure we will back!!

I don't know if it is the best Sushi restaurant in the city, but I can assure you it is definitely one the best. Service and food is excellent. Would highly recommend

We wanted the Otoro Blue Fin and they didn't have any. They had a premium Sashimi platter of 18pcs for $50 advertised which she offered. We ordered that. Then she came and said it was sold out. So we ordered a small boat and Red Fin Toro. The boat was good. However the $30 for the 5 slices of Toro Red Fin was awful. It had cartilage was irregular and tasted fishy. Our bill was $168 ($144 w/o HST) which wasn't a very good value. It was a b-day dinner to boot!

Amazing staff, manager is above and beyond excellent in creating a truly leading class environment. Food quality is top notch. Highly recommend to check out.

This was hands down the best sushi experience outside of the Asia's. Fresh, hand rolled with care, and fantastic service. Highly recommended. For 2 well-travelled foodies, this place ranks amongst the top 10. It hit all the senses with great emotion, and left us perfectly satisfied begging for more.

Went to celebrate my wife's birthday 🎉 and usually the restaurant staff are ok but this time on Sunday lunch the staff was not understanding my order and also they would not change my complimentary soup to salad as they would not normally as I am vegetarian I agree with what you pay you get and hence I go to this place and this time I paid more than usual and not happy

Awesome service awesome food delicious food reasonably priced. I highly recommend it. Plus they have a lot of vegan selections too.

The worst experience. Ate here with friends when we found a hair in a bento box and brought it to our servers attention Jennifer. She took the food back to prepare a new one. She came back holding the piece of hair in her hand showing us that no one in the kitchen has hair like that! I couldn't eat my food afterwards it was so gross to see that! Who the heck does that!!!!???

Excellent food, drinks, cute servers, fun ambiance!

It was very good. But we had to remind to the waiter about complimentary soup. All the rest was excellent.

BEST SUSHI EVER! Yelp Reviews do not lie! Go and visit for sure!

Great quality

The sushi was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. I hate sushi that's main ingredient is tempura or when most of the menu is deep fried. This is not that at all. The bento box lunch was high quality and quite a lot of food. I ordered two fabulous rolls and that was too much. Glad we found this place, I'd definitely return if I'm in town again.

Dropped by a few days ago, decided now is a good time as any to do a review, seeing as I've been here a few times before.

The decor is very contemporary, dark hues to the walls and seating arrangements alike. Gives you a relaxed vibe and allows you to wind down and relax during your night out. Lighting also compliments the feeling they're going for. They also did a small renovation, as the bar area where the Chefs once stood is not as pronounced and its' seating is now replaced with more tables for guests.

Varied visits have had me the pleasure of sampling a good size of their menu, ranging from their kalbi dinners, bento boxes and sushi boats. The boats always have that "wow" factor, and here isn't any different. Colourful palette, with the flowers and vines really draw your attention in. Safe to say that most of their food here is worth the price.

Service is pretty much the standard fare. Not bad but nothing to make it really stand out either.

All in all a nice place to wine and dine for all occasions. Everything they're doing must be right, because this strip of Yonge St. is notorious for failing restaurant establishments.

It is not value for the money. Very expensive. Food is okay. Very busy in lunch hour.
Sapan
Everyone here puts off a positive vibe that’s hard to describe; it makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. You’ve got the chef, just rocking out art with a smile and his whole staff hurriedly attending to everyone with a smile. Made my day.

Oh, and the food is gorgeous and modestly priced.

My partner has been raving about Sushi Moto for some time now and last week I finally got to try it. The Green Dragon Roll here was to die for! The Karaage was also great, although it had too thick of a breading for my liking. All the stuff in the bento were amazing and I really liked the tempura. The prices were a bit high but I guess the quality of the food make up for it.

Went for a quick lunch. They have a great staff who are really friendly. As a vegetarian I was disappointed when I didn't find any veg sushi combo for lunch..I ended up ordering seperately. The quality of the food is top notch and tasted super yummyy!!

So, the only recommendation to the restaurant would be to include veg sushi combos for vegetarian sushi lovers like me.

Beautiful interior, very attentive staff and good presentation of food. Our lunch combo portion was generous and came with miso, salad and noodles. Sushi quality was good though it tasted a bit bland.

The food is decent, but I prefer the ambience over here. The service is decent while the staff is friendly and knowledgable. I'd say you'll get many sushi bar in this price range that will offer more choice and better taste.

Been coming to Moto for years and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it. Delicious sushi, always fresh. Amazing service! The BEST saki sangria!!! Amazing avocado salad
Nilay Dönmez Kavukcu
The sushi is really good and the atmosphere is really cozy. The only downside is they are extremely busy so you cannot relax and spend more than couple of hours here.. because there is always someone waiting in the line for your table 😊

Came here last night. It's one of the more expensive sushi spots. I spent 30.00 for 10 pieces of salmon sushi nigiri when I normally spend around 18.00 in Mississauga. However, it was good and fresh only thing is I really disliked the soy sauce. I guess it's homemade but it was EXTREMELY salty omg. Good service though.

The restaurant was very spacious and service was very quick. I was given tea right after I was seated.

I had the chirashi dinner and it was bigger than I expected. It also came with a small noodle soup appetizer, salad and miso soup. The chirashi itself had a good amount of sashimi. The sashimi was also fresh and tasty. The rice was seasoned well and had hints of nuttiness from the sesame seeds.

Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and would come back again.
Korean Food Monster
I've been coming here since they first opened and up until now. It's kind of overplayed? It is not as good as it used to be, maybe they need a makeover. Also, dining in the back of the restaurant really blows, they definitely need to make it look nicer. Service is a hit or miss which really makes a huge difference on your entire dining experience.

This is a nice place with wonderful Japanese Food. I loved their sushi and they were extremely delicious. I've regret only about their serving capabilities. They are very slow at doing everything. Slow at preparing dishes, slow at serving, slow at noting down the order etc etc... Long list! A simple request like Water refill took 15min with very average public in the restaurant. Our waiter even forgot about one of our main courses that we had to pack it later. I would've rated thi space 3.5 but naahhh.... I need better attention.

The place is very trendy and spacious. Service was really good - servers always made sure our tea cups weren't empty.

Anago, Aji, Ankimo Sashimi and Toro Sushi:

You get what you pay for. Not a wow quality but good for the price. The Toro Sushi was delicious.

Tataki Attack Roll:

$9.95 | 8pcs of Crab, scallop, avocado, mayo + albacore tuna tataki on top

This was such a great roll, and, as you know, I'm a sucker for aburi rolls. The tuna tataki was so fatty and tasty especially after the sear. What I didn't like was the crunchy flakes they put weren't crunchy at all!
Becky
Pro
- large restaurant with plenty of seating.
- service is excellent.
- I recommend the Chirashi lunch - it's fresh.
- Meal came with miso soup, salad, and cold noodles.

Con
- Price is slightly on the high side - but it's not bad considering the quality of food.

Really really good sushi!

This place was recommended by a colleague. The atmosphere is really nice; it reminds me of a high class restaurant without all the flare.

The service was excellent. The wait staff was attentive and courteous. We ordered a medium sushi boat and six specialty maki rolls. The food came out fast and looking spectacular

The sushi was very tasty but the rolls were the star of the show. We loved them so much we ordered another six specialty rolls.

The only downside was paying for all of the lovely sushi afterwards. Definitely not for budget conscience; but would highly recommend the restaurant.
@
We picked this place last minute but it was the best choice I ever made! This place is amazing. The food was great, by far the best sushi I've tasted and the servers were so kind! Definitely would go again.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the GTA, comparable to the Vancouver area. They have a large menu with good lunch specials and combos. The atmosphere is very modern and clean with lots of counter bar seating, booths, tables and private rooms. All the sashimi was very fresh and good quality. The rolls are also very well made and delicious. Our favourite roll was the Tataki Attack with seared ahi tuna and chopped scallop. My only negative feedback is some of the more expensive sashimi slices were very small and only half the size of the salmon and tuna pieces.

This is the first place that I’ve heard offers avocado tempura. I was a bit skeptical about it, but for no reason – the avocado tempura is incredible. The creaminess of the avocado inside, alongside the crispy exterior made a memorable first experience. The presentation of the rolls and sushi that we ordered was very visually pleasing and pretty, and extremely delicious. I didn’t feel heavy or weighed down after, but I was satisfied.

Great food and a nice environment. It has a bar and some comfy chairs to wind down and relax. The quality of sushi is great but a bit expensive. I do recommend it though.

Elegant, uncluttered bar atmosphere and delicacies that will satisfy everyone's taste buds whether it's lunchtime or night. Many people actually like it for its nightlife. This place is great for any occasion. With the impressively long menu (the online menu is divided into 19 pages) you really won't have a problem to chose your favorite meal. And they offer delicious meatless meals as well, so vegetarians won't leave hungry either.

I've been to Sushi Moto very often. The food has never disappointed me or the guests I've brought. We love their Kamikaze, Spider and Spicy Salmon rolls. Their signature Moto Salad is excellent. The sashimi is always fresh. The restaurant is very well run and the warm from their staff is incomparable to any restaurant I frequent. This place is definitely a gem in the city.

Really like the place. They have great interior and service. One of the best quality sushi and totally worth the price. Tataki Attack roll is to die for.

Amazing experience!. Incredible food and service. Great vibe and music. Overall - an excellent experience and definitely recommend if you are looking for excellent sushi. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, professional, and fun :). The manager was also excellent and friendly. Will be back for sure!
Good Food Hunter
Average food, service?. The hamachi neck is good value, but the rest are just average - from rolls to sashimi. But, seriously. Do the female servers have to visually prostitute their bodies to be effective? That is a huge turn off.

NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. This place...is EXPENSIVE, total rip off, ordered a bento, chicken looked and tasted like plastic, salad was just lettuce, and the rice portion was small, ordered salmon rolls and there was wasabi in it , i get it some restaurants do that, told waiter i didn't want the wasabi, they just wipe it off and gave me back my rolls... plus the waiters service was terrible, no where to be found, you can find better places for half the price and get more food
Mike
Best sushi I've ever had! Premium quality!! :) fast delivery of good, polite staff...will definitely go back here again.

Terrible Service!. Came here to celebrate my birthday... the food was amazing but service was terrible! The waiter kept forgetting about our table and disappearing. We ended up waiting for 50 minutes for our food and when we ordered more rolls by the time it got there was another 50 minute wait. The waiter also forgot about the 2 birthdays we were celebrating after being reminded 3 times. Overall absolutely terrible service! We spent 2 and a half hours at this restaurant, mainly waiting for our food. I will never go back to Sushi Moto.

The BEST rolls in the GTA!! Had the beautiful, spicy tuna, erotica, dynamite, fire, spider. All amazing!! Well worth the money, well Defiantly return again

Great place to go with friends, coworkers or even for a first date. Reasonably priced. Atmosphere is modern, inviting & cozy. Service is great, and the fish is fresh. The sashimi just melts in your mouth. Huge selection on sake. The place was packed when I went on a Friday night. I highly recommend this place! I will be going back again soon!

Good service, Blah food. The server was very attentive, the free touches were nice such as the noodle soup but even then some were just gross (cold tofu in soy sauce and the dumpling). The killer though was the quality of sushi and sashimi, it was cold, rubbery, and some were just off tasting. I imagine the rolls might be good and keep people coming, but if you are looking for real sushi-- don't come here, the quality of fish is no better than an AYCE place.
Bits And Bites
Enjoyed the service and attention. Had my birthday lunch some time back; my daughter has been back several times recently with relatives and keeps asking to go back. She gets spoiled there with all the desserts and attention at the end of her meal.

I received great hospitable service, lots of attention to detail, and the food was presented and tasted beautifully. One of the owners were onsite and came by to check on how we were enjoying the meal. Turned out we shared a city of residence in common at some point outside the country.

My daughter can't get back fast enough.

Me and my friend decided to give this place a try.reading the reviews made me nervous but I went anyways. We ordered martins....except they didn't have the ingredients to make mine. So I ordered something else. We went with a 40p combo calamari and a coconut ice cream for desert. The calamari I wasn't so crazy about...I find with calamari I like it more crunchy then rubbery. I was getting nervous at this point because the reviews said something about bad fish. When we got our combo it looked very deliciouse and pretty. It was a good variety of assorted fish. It all had good color and tastes fresh. I wasnt full at the end like I usually am with All you can eat sushi bars but I was very comfortable. Everything in that assortment tasted great. My friend really enjoyed the coconut ice cream it looked like something I have never seen before...very good presentation. The restaurant is very clean, and the bathrooms were nice except the locks didn't work on 2 of the stalls which kind of annoyed me. I would still deffinitly return. It was a nice vibe and good eat.
Vincedb
The sushi was some of the best I have had in a while. Presentation is nice and simple. The quality is very good. The food tastes greatem huge selection of sushi. Only issue I had was the long wait time. But that is typical for a Sunday dinner in a busy area. 4/5

Terrible restaurant!! Terrible service!!! Would not recommend to anyone

Be prepared to be RUDELY asked to increase your tip by the waitress. I loved this place when it first opened up, they were eager to make a good image and the customer service was great. We quickly became regulars and tonight I decided to take another couple there. The waitress spilled the soup all over our table because she was in a rush as the place was busy and they were trying to turn over tables as fast as they could. Then the bill came and I didn't leave as a big of a tip due to the poor service. When I entered in the tip amount and my credit card was approved. the waitress looked at it and said "you need to leave a minimum of 20% tip so you need to give me 3 more dollars" I couldn't believe it!!! My guests looked at me in shock, I am still in shock and I will definitely will not be going back! Be prepared to be asked to leave a larger tip if they do not think it is enough, it was really embarassing and ruined our night....you should not be FORCED to leave a large tip if you think the service is CRAP which it definitely was tonight....STAY AWAY

Sushi Moto= my favourite sushi restaurant!. I love this place! My husband and I have gone twice and have been blown away both times! Yes, you have to be willing to pay a bit more, however, it's definitely worth it! The California salad is amazing (huge portions!). We also love the crunchy soup (and it's nice that we get complimentary small bowls to start off the meal). The decor is nice, the restaurant is clean, and the service is great! Can't wait to go back!!!

Nice environment and all, a lounge type a bar, but too bad they don't sell pitchers of beers. If they do I'd def go drinking there

This place is fantastic.

My Oh My. Sushi is Japanese food with Rice & Fish and some people are into it but it is not so hot anymore. These sushi restaurants might still attract the sad people but it is over. I just wish girls would notice this and stop demanding sushi sushi sushi. Anyway Moto is boring. I dont if its good or if its bad but its defiantly small. I was willing to take her to keg but she wanted Sushi OK. but still hungry and not enough.

Food is good but service is hit or miss

A new favorite. The service, food and atmosphere are all outstanding. Already one of my favorite places to eat in Toronto.

Ms. Allie. I like the eniviroment, food and service there.

Both Hip and Hype. The Sheppard to Finch corridor needed a trendy suishi resto and Sushi Moto delivers. Atmosphere is great for hanging for food or drinks.

The Skinny: suishi and sashimi is decent and fresh, some of the other dishes (noodle soups) are hit or miss

Overall Rating: Stop by and have a bite..the jury's still out on if Suishi Moto can continue to deliver..stick to the fish and this place has the makings of a fan favorite

...a few weeks back we went for a great sushi eve. our little foursome had our own private room at sushi moto: delicious saki, sumptuous sushi and a whole lot of laughs...

Being a little adventurous we ordered the spicy killer maki ($9.95). Sure the name sounds deadly and makes you sweat in anticipation of the spice but it ended up being bearable. Essentially a spicy tuna roll with red chillies (although the menu notes jalapeño) and avocado which is then deep fried so there's a crispy crust and the tuna cooks.

The crunch is nice and the heat augments the spiciness. Luckily, the avocado helps to neutralize it a bit so you can still enjoy the flavours.

The spicy killer is filled with flavour but is meant to be shared as quite heavy. We also had our normal purchases the spicy salmon ($6.95) and dynamite ($9.95) maki. The spicy salmon is av

Located near Yonge and Sheppard, Sushi Moto is one of my go-to sushi restaurants in the North York area. Bottom line – good food, but only if you’re willing to spend a few more bucks.

Nelson @ Yonge & Sheppard: Neat sign outside, but once you enter it's obvious it used to be an Irish pub. Still, the tables were really spaced out so the interior was not bad. When we sat, an app of noodles in a nice soup came out unprompted. Unique to see this and it was quite good. We ordered a maki combination 3 (california, dragon, rainbow, salmon maki and spider rolls (36 pieces for $44.95). We also shared a medium Sashimi with 40 pieces for $39.95. The sashimi was nicely presented and had fairly large pieces. The seared white fish was new to me and pretty good as it turns out (top left). For the rolls, the salmon maki had a really large piece inside which was welcome. The spider roll had the crab really breaded and then fried which is different from most where it is either fried directly or just slightly breaded in corn starch instead of the bread crumbs they used here. Overall, not too much rice in each roll so it was good. Kitty ordered a Yum Yum saketini ($8.95) which had

I have been to Sushi Moto a few times. Generally the food is really good. I really like1HE TUNA HANDROLL. I find the music a bit loud at night. I prefer the quieter daytime. It took a while to get one of my items and had to wait for the bill but otherwise its a good Sushi place
