Our family has been going to Jawny Baker's for several years and for a little while they were off of there game. The food quality went down and the service was suffering. About a year ago we decided to try again and we were very pleased that they had improved the menu and got the service back up to snuff. We have been there a few times over the past year and have had consistently good food and excellent service.
Tonight we went out for a family birthday dinner. My wife and I were both excited that the Sunday special was the rack of ribs (something we both enjoyed before). We placed our order and within a couple of minutes our server returned to tell us that all of the current batch of ribs were sold to a party that was being hosted there but that there was another in the cooker, however they wouldn't be ready for 15 minutes. Our kids have a limited shelf life at restaurants so 15 minutes is a long time. We were seriously disappointed but knew there were other things we enjoyed on the menu. Plus the server said they would comp us an appetizer for our disappointment. We asked if they could make it deserts rather than an appetizer the reply was, yep, no problem. Shortly after that the manager came to the table and apologized for not having the ribs ready.
After our meal, while waiting for our complimentary desserts, the manager came by to apologize again and drop off a small token as well. At most restaurants it would have stopped at telling us that didn't have the ribs ready and that would be the end of it. Jawny Baker's went above and beyond what we expected.
Additionally, our second choices for our meals were delicious. Jawny Baker's staff and food are some of the best we have experienced in Toronto.
Had my sister's 5oth surprise birthday party on July 15. The staff and management were amazing from minute 1. We were given a separate party room that was spacious. Our wait staff was great and one young lady took out orders from the beginning and everything was perfect. I wish I remembered her (so sorry) We stayed past closing and we did not even know. This is how comfortable they made us feel. They did not rush us out. We had been there on a couple of occasions for family dinner and every time the food and the staff was amazing. Thank you staff for accommodating us on Saturday. This is my family restaurant from now on!! I would recommend this place one hundred times over.
We are at JB (as we call it) at least once a week. This is our trusted place for a good food.
Excellent brunch and daily specials. They have the best salads in the city. Staff knowledgeable, curtious and friendly. Great patio to enjoy at summer time.
Another great family dinner at Jawny Bakers. Tonight four of us, in a party of nine, had the awesome ribs. Great menu, great food. Awesome staff. Try this place, if you haven't already!
We loved this place! The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. It’s family friendly, with a good kids’ menu. We’ll be back - maybe tomorrow!!
A hidden gem. I love this place. The food is delicious and service is very good. I like the fact that they aren't hovering or rushing to give you the bill.

Love the beer selections, the bourbon selections, and the perfect food options, snacks or substantial satisfying meals, to accompany the delightful beverages.Great friendly and professional service, and.... a very nice private dining room, for special celebrations or getting your group's work done over a decent meal. My local for 15 years..... Never disappointed.
Had another awesome meal here tonight. Such great service, so good with kids! The food was amazing and we had the patio to ourselves! Thanks again.

We had my baby shower here with over 60 people causing chaos but Jawny Bakers took care of all of us and made the day extra special. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed their meals. We couldn’t have done it without them!

We had an amazing experience this past weekend. The staff out did themselves with the party we hosted for my sons first communion. The food was delicious and hot! We look forward to having more functions and nights on the patio!!
Old time East York restaurant located at O’Connor and St.Clair. Friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price. Seating area is well lit with TVs around for sports games and drinks.
Great place to eat, and a great atmosphere. Went there tonight for the first time, the waitress was very welcoming and had a great sense of humor, and very polite staff. The food was great, and portion are amazing for the price. Definitely a place would comeback to. The Hot Spinach and Cheese Dip is so good!! Yesterday, we visited this restaurant for the first time and we loved it! We ordered different type of food (butter chicken, ribs, pasta, steak) and every single dish was fresh and delicious. Even the coffee tasted super good. The restaurant is beautiful, well-designed and super neat. And the waitress (Anna) was amazing 👏, the service was perfect and she was really nice with us... she offered 2 desserts for free because it was our fist time there. What else can you ask for??? Really impressed with this restaurant. Definitely, we will visit them soon! THANKS!!!!
We ordered the penne athena and veggie burger. They were both fantastic. Loved the sauce they used for the pasta. Their patio is pretty nice as well, and it's covered so it shielded us from the rain. Overall, great experience.
The AC unit was not working correctly so the longer we were there the hotter it got. We were seated right away and the waiter, Andrew, was attentive at first. I ordered the Sierra salmon and it was delicious. My husband ordered the jambalaya and although tasty it was not authentic. We had to wait several minutes for drink refills and a dessert menu but they were not packed. The pecan cheesecake was delicious.
