Review The David Duncan House - Toronto

KL
We had a great experience at this location a few weeks ago when we came in with gift cards on a Saturday eve. The food was very delicious! The server was so kind and attentive. Just a kind spirited person, you could tell and so helpful. Service was fantastic and very fast. Was a great treat to spoil yourself! The garlic bread they provide as a free side is to die for!

The combination of food and ambiance was perfect. The food is reasonably priced and frankly I'm shocked they aren't more popular. I will definitely go back, the prices are within range of quality food. The service was good and the place is beautiful. Great date night or celebratory meal. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The only uncomfortable situation was one of the bussers made me feel super uncomfortable with the constant attention and compliments. Besides that, it was all good!

Back on May 1st, 2022, I treated my family out for my 39th birthday to David Duncan House. Overall, I was really impressed with the quality from appetizers to entrees to desserts. I ordered a 12 oz. New York strip, medium and it was one of the best steaks I've had in years. Absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. David Duncan House did not disappoint, it exceeded my expectations. My family has been eating here for years and we're always impressed. My only regret is I tipped our server $40. I should've tipped more.

Recently celebrated my birthday at the David Duncan House and I am so glad that I did. The restaurant is so beautiful inside, I personally really like restaurants with dim lighting. Our server was so attentive and polite. Even the other staff were very friendly. The food was great, wine was fantastic. We will definitely be going back!

Everything was so tasty. Servers where so polite and on top of everything. Great wine and drink selection. Lovely focaccia bread to start and fresh oysters. Steak was done exactly to my liking which is Chicago rare and I know that’s not an easy request. For Dessert I had a cheesecake baklava that was out of this world. Definitely will be back and can’t wait for that day :)

Love the ambience ! If you are planning a date night this place is it. I got a lobster pasta which was not great, but the quantity of lobster in the pasta was definitely more than any other place in Toronto. A bonus for all lobster lovers. We also got 4 desserts and every single one of them was made to perfection. If you get there hungry, the bread served at the start should satisfy you for a while.

This is definitely a good fine dining restaurant. The lighting wasn't too dark. The Caesar salad was wonderful. It has pork belly instead of bacon bits. The lobster pasta has a fair amount of lobster meat. The 12oz roast prime rib was big. Service was good. We enjoyed our evening.

We ordered their fillet mignon steak with some sides, the food quality was good and fresh but for the price we paid, I was expecting a better dish. The interior design was very beautiful, cozy and I really like the style which was close to ginger bread house styles. The service was in a good standard as well. Overall its 4 out 5 compare to other places in same level.

Loved the Ambiance. It is a very hystorical gorgeous restaurant built in 1852... wood trimmings are marvelous imagine it was a house back then. Food was superb service was excellent.

This is a warning to anyone who is thinking of booking an event “by Peter and Paul’s”. I booked my bridal shower back in November at The David Duncan House expecting the quality and service we all knew and loved. Growing up I celebrated many happy moments there with my dad and it felt suiting to also celebrate my bridal shower there. But since it was bought over by Peter and Paul’s it’s been nothing short of a nightmare. And today 2 WEEKS before my bridal shower they CANCELLED my event. They claim they only found out today about the closure to renovate When I know for a fact they knew about the renovations for over a month. In their slogan They claim “hospitality is in their DNA” but they have no idea how to run a business and have managed to ruined a major milestone event for me.

I said it last time , I’ll say it again, A MUST GO TOO!!

Our second time in as many months. Wonderful! The Cesar salad , the onion soup, the grilled dishes , the food in general , wonderful!

Mano and Nick, our servers, were amazing. So attentive to detail, told us some of the history of the place, took some nice pictures for us and even surprised my Mom with a slice of cake for her belated 65th birthday and Mother’s Day. So very thoughtful and kind.

I had read mixed reviews regarding change of ownership, quality of food, service, etc...I have to say, there was not one thing where we could find a complaint.

Oysters, outstandingly delicious and fresh.

Our steaks were cooked to perfection.

The sides, perfect portion for the 2 of us. I’ve never tasted more delicious, of all things, Brussels sprouts!!

Cocktails were great as well!

Came here for a meet and greet with some movie stars from the Philippines.

The house is pretty cool considering it was someone's house before but it also felt a little haunted. I felt the people from paintings were gonna come to life or something. lol

Didn't have steak but did eat their seafood and ice cream which was just okay. Actually the ice cream I wasn't too much of a fan.

Also not a fan of the lighting in the restaurant.

The David Duncan House
passed my expectations in regards to the service, the food, and the overall atmosphere. I would definitely recommend people to go check this place out - you will not regret it. The New York strip and creme brule were amazing, and the decor and how the place was set up was outstanding - I have never seen anything like it. Definitely one of the best restaurants I have been to.

I was very disappointed in the food and dining experience at The David Duncan House. It was, by far, the worst steakhouse meal that I have ever had. Taking into consideration that we were dining with a local celebrity whom our waiter immediately recognized and acknowledged, I can't even imagine how much worse the other customers had it. I had the rib eye steak and here is a list of my complaints:

The restaurant was not busy when we placed our order (it was before 10 pm), but we still had to wait 45 minutes between finishing our appetizers and being served our main courses.

Six of the eight steaks that we ordered were overcooked, one of which was extremely overcooked. We ordered rare or blue rare steaks and received then well done or medium, at best.

The meat didn't have much beef flavour and the texture of the meat was quite dry.

The steaks were overly charred and tasted burnt. Also, they were too heavily salted for my taste.

The mashed potatoes were lumpy.

Although the waiter had a good attitude, I didn't like the way that he handled our complaints about the overcooked steaks. He said that he would send the steaks back as many times as needed to have them cooked right. But, quite frankly, I expect a steakhouse to cook my steak perfectly the first time. Also, we were starving by this point and couldn't risk having to wait another 45 minutes to get our steaks back. We even told the waiter why we weren't sending the steaks back, but despite our complaints about the overcooked steak and long waiting time, he made no attempt to rectify the situation.

I will say, however, that their desserts were quite good. The cheese cake and chocolate mousse bomb, in particular, were very good.

My family and I went to The David Duncan restaurant on Saturday, April 23rd for lunch. This is my first time spending the time to write a negative review. The food was mediocre but my biggest complaint was the extremely poor and rude service. My dad ordered a bottle of wine and the waiters made us pay for it before we even finished our meal. None of the waiters smiled nor were they attentive. When we asked for more water they made us feel like we were a burden.

The food here costs a lot so you would expect at least decent service.
We will never come back and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Please tell your staff to smile and have some courtesy.

Next time I want a steak, I will go to The Keg or Ruth's Chris steakhouse. At least I get decent service and food at a much more affordable price.

When we got home from the restaurant, I spoke to Sophie (the bookkeeper) because the manager was busy and she did not apologize. She just defended the waiters. I hope that in the future your staff receive feedback as a way to improve your service. Most businesses actually appreciate feedback as a way to improve customer satisfaction and business practices.

EAs my plate of crispy skinned duck was placed before me, the aroma got me so hungry. The skin made that satisfying crunch and the sweet tartness hint of orange completed the whole package. I was savouring each bite, I forgot to steal a bite from my sister’s Junior New York Strip.

Good steak house. A bit more expensive than the keg but good for what you get. The restaurant it self is beautiful and top notch service.

For myself, the Duncan's cut bone-in prime rib ($49) was beckoning – a thick slab of tender succulent meat coated in a salty barque crust. A hot pool of gravy covered well over half the plate and left the otherwise medium done meat cooked through. Duncan should consider offering the gravy on the side to stop the sauce from cooking the beef before presented.

In true British fashion, a plump Yorkshire pudding adorned the plate, a buttery crust with a downright airy centre. The fries, although pale and limp looking, were hot and rich in potato flavours - they just needed a double fry to give it crunch and colour.

The bone-in rib steak ($63) had beautiful grill marks, which

I have been to the David Duncan House a few times over the past few years. Family and colleagues love it. I thought it was above average as of a few years ago and certainly worth revisiting. I go there invariably for special occasions and more often for professional functions due to location and parking availability. But I am sorry to have seen its deterioration over the past few years – while curiously accompanied by soaring prices. My most recent experience was in December 2015 and it was a decidedly disappointing one. While I would still return for a professional function if costs are covered, David Duncan House has now lost me as patron.

Our group had a shrimp and salmon platter. If individually ordered the Smoked Salmon would have been $16, served on a bed of romaine lettuce with cream cheese, capers, red onion, and rye bread. It was certainly not worth the price. The salmon was passable, the rye bread was tough, dry, and semi-stale. The platter included shrimps – and I certainly hope these were not $40 tiger shrimps "Colossal Shrimp Cocktail $40 -Four Tiger Shrimp served with our tangy house-made cocktail sauce" pictured on their Duncan House website

And in any case the shrimp served was at best on par with frozen shrimp rings I could easily get from Loblaws or Metro; the "housemade cocktail" was industrial, formulaic, and without character.

Then came the garden salad. There was more salad dressing than salad! I only ate the rim of the plate and left the rest intact. I thought it could be more appropriately named as a salt or briny soup or whatever with some greens thrown in.

Main course? I had what the waiter said was a "12 oz" NY striploin. The actual 8 oz slab of meat was lifeless and tough - which might as well be when the rest would have gone to waste. Yet in an amazing feat Duncan House overcooked a medium-rare to medium piece of meat. Maybe it was not the House's fault - it was just a piece of expired cheap frozen beef. Yet on the brighter side David Duncan House gave myself some cooking confidence. In fact, I was at a house gathering of my cousin ‘s for a party just a few days after – yet his first time following a cookbook doing a rib roast managed to put Duncan House to shame. Fine they’re not exactly comparable, but it was an independent confirmation and consolidation of my disappointment. To paraphrase Bill Murray in his famous one-liner in Lost in Translation - what sort of restaurant makes you want to cook your own food? I could easily have done a better job with my plug-in indoor electric grill – without temperature control. Yes I did try it before.

Sides: the fries were cold and stale and about ~ two or three notches below those from McDonalds' and I left more than half wasted. I had never tried fries there before (usually have mash potatoes or baked which was nothing great) - but this merely added insult to injury.

Any positives? As another couple of the group confirmed my above impression and did note this to the waiter we were offered a second chance. It was late by the time and so we decided to let it go. And as it was late I did take the cheesecake dessert home for family and did try a small piece of it at home which was reasonable to at best above average. It remains, however, only on par with frozen ones that can easily be had from frozen dessert aisles of any major supermarket chains. The waiter was polite but seemed prone to mixing up the sides with the various orders (our group was 10 people, and he did write them down) which necessitated some last minute fiddling on his part during main course presentation. And as mentioned, ample parking was a bonus. The decor remains elegant but seems increasingly dated - perhaps by 2050 it will revived as retro.

The overall verdict? Will still return when it’s sponsored and when expenses are paid for.

It was a rainy day when we arrived at the David Duncan House. Situated at the north west corner of York Mills and Don Mills, the restaurant is on a rather large plot of land, so finding a parking space will not be an issue here. The restaurant, true to its name, is more like a beautiful large house than a restaurant. Once you step inside, you are greeted by intricate decor and woodwork.

We were promptly seated on the ground floor on a large round table. We ordered the caesar salad as appetizers, which was prepared table side and was absolutely fresh and delicious. I didn't feel like having steak that day, so opted for the BBQ ribs instead. My parents ordered the Duncan Cut Prime Rib, which end up looking (and tasting) a lot better than the ribs. So next time, order steak at a steakhouse!

Dessert was tiramisu and baked alaska. The Baked Alaska, like the Caesar Salad, was prepared table side. The portion is meant for two and it's worth ordering. Oh, and the Tiramisu, oh the Tiramisu was heavenly, possibly the best that I've had anywhere - a definite must!

In my opinion, the best one in all of Toronto! We love the service, ambiance, and delicious food! My family and I keep coming back for more!

I have been coming to this place for years. Unfortunately, I have also seen it deteriorate through the years as well.
During my last visit, I ordered the Duck a l'orange. The duck was crusty and tough. It took a lot of chewing to swallow one piece. The vegetables that came with it were undercooked. So in short, the duck was overcooked and the vegetables were undercooked.
The only saving grace were the mashed potatoes. The scoop I had were buttery, garlicky and worth every bite.
The Duncan House however nailed the prime rib. It is tender and juicy and melts in your mouth. My mother orders it every time we go there and she has yet to complain about it.
To end off the meal I ordered the crème brûlée, which was decent. It was topped with a gooseberry which I thought was cool.

Disappointing. Went here with the girlfriend for valentines day on a suggestion from a friend. The service and atmosphere was excellent with a free coat check. They had a special valentines day menu but we really wanted oysters. The waitress was kind enough to hook us up. We had the prime rib steak and losbter tail main dishes. Both were disappointing. The steak was overcooked and chewy. And the lobster tail was tough and rubbery. We won't be going back.

Not returning. I usually have an open mind when I try something new, but this experience was downhill right from the beginning. I went with a group of friends for a Valentines day dinner. Age has nothing to do with where you eat and my friends and I definitely do not cheap out on food. We are all young professionals and even dressed up to suite the environment. But I guess because we were young we received different treatment.

3/6 of us were vegetarians, and upon booking over the phone several days in advance, the person on the phone told us that there were several vegetarian options that could be made on sight. We were disappointed to find that that was not the case. The waiter really didn’t do much to help the situation. Couldn’t even offer a simple veggie pasta. While the waiter had went to the kitchen to inquire, my friend went to speak to a manager who said that they could accommodate a vegetarian option. However, when the waiter came back he said the kitchen couldn’t do anything. The only thing that could be offered was a veggie platter, which was already on their main menu. The fact that there was NO other option, we really didn’t have any other option.

When the food came out, we were shocked. It was pretty much steamed vegetables. Nothing more. A plate full of steamed veggies. I think a monkey could have made better. We had to ask for sides such as rice and mashed potatoes. And they call that fine dining? I think a plate of sidekicks would have been 100 times better! We ate what we were given, the company that we had seemed to make us forget about the disappointing food.

Then we got the bill. Dun dun dun! The menu online says that the veggie platter is $22.95, yet for some reason our bill said “Open selection, $30”. WTF? Are you kidding me?! I understand it’s Valentines day, and you raise your prices, but seriously, $30 for some veggies that really only costs $5?!!...we weren’t having it! For some reason our waiter had now changed. We brought up the discrepancy in price to the waitress, and she came back saying that she had done her best to give us a discount to match the price. Pathetic, because now our bill said “Veggie Platter 22.95” which it should have said all along. Clearly top dollar does not mean top service around there. The waiters seemed rude and showed no class. We were willing to spend our money, but with service like that, there was no way we were spending more. I’m always a tipper but the service and food was so bad that it wasn’t hard to resist tipping.

Won’t EVER be visiting there again. People, take your money to a local bar and grill or some other sort. You’ll get way better service and better options!

Duncan House was to be a lovely Clebration lunch with a dear friend.
She ordered the suggested Lamb special.
It came with mashed potatoes, so so gravy, 5 bean pods, two roasted potato bits and parsley, no other vegetables and no mint sauce, that was on request only. The Lamb needed a lot of chewing, VERY disappointing.
My beef filet wrapped in bacon was delicious but again 5 bean pods, two roasted potato bits along with the ordered perfect fries, ketchup and no other vegetables. Horse radish was not offered.
Some vegetables would have added to the presentation and taste.
We had to ask for more butter for the buns, it was never offered.
We were never asked if we enjoyed our meal.
We have been here many times with other friends and this time may have been our last.

First time at The Duncan House, was recommended by my friend to meet there for lunch. We sat there for lunch. We sat in the lounge and ordered two burgers with the works, fries and a couple of cold beers. Never thought to order burgers at such a place but man were they delicious. The beef was hearty and the fresh and the portions just right. We ate at the bar, watched the ball game. All around a great afternoon. Will definitely go back.

The david duncan house. I was recently at this restaurant, I was greeted with a sour face at the door and lead by some very intimidating men on the way to my table. The wait staff was good but the food was terrible, reminded me of airplane food , for the masses, nothing special, go a little further south to lawrence for much better fare.

was really upset about my experience so I called the Duncan house and they didn't care, wow that made me feel event worse. Please avoid this restaurant.

Why bother. Old restaurant, old food, old decor, save your money.

Average At Best. As a purported fine steak house, we found the food to be less than average with bland vegetables, 2 or 3 day old Chocolate mousse and lousy capuccino. Unacceptable at these prices and very easy to improve on both criticisms. Wouldn't go back again.
KandD
Great Hospitality. We recently went to the Duncan house. We had not been there for many years. The classic elegance and wonderful food and service ensures that we will be returning more often in the future.

The stomshere is nice but the food for the money isn't worth it. It's best days are behind them too bad. I would not go back there as it's overpriced for the poor quality food. Too Bad

Tired and Lacking. I've been to this restaurant twice now for business lunches. Once in April/12 and again last Friday - Oct/12. Half a year apart, both times with fairly large parties of people (between 10 & 15). I expected this place to be an experience on par with such establishments as Auberge du Pommier or Canoe etc. Well, I've been disappointed both times. When I read other reviews I wonder if I've gone to a completely different place - twice!

First of all, the building is impressive. Victorian era mansion, with separate dining areas, multiple levels. Second time there we were seated in our own private room, containing a bay window, large fireplace, complete with a painting of Queen Victoria. Seated at a single long table, in stuffed chairs, it seemed to be quite elegant. My colleagues noted the dated carpeting - seemingly from the '90's - which prompted the quip - "the 1890's?". I found the wait staff to be VERY old school - older or elderly black suit clad waiter, and a younger - mumbling - busboy. The service was middling at best. The waiter never waited for conversation to abate (it was a larger group of people) before reciting (in a soft spoken, accented voice) the pertinent parts of the menu. This got to be aggravating towards the end of the meal as we had to constantly prompt him to repeat or speak up. The staff also tended to forget orders and mix up who received what. My dish was the lunch special sea bass. I should have read more closely, when it said pan-seared, I should have clued in that it wasn't really sea bass. Which it turned out it didn't seem to be at all. In fact, it looked suspiciously like my colleague's pan seared red snapper. And both looked fried, not seared nicely. Limp, soggy thin pieces of fish. The accompanying broccoli was too undercooked to cut. I love raw broccoli, even prefer it that way. But cold on a plate with fish, not much fun. Luckily I ordered fries, which actually turned out to be very tasty. crispy style, they could be eaten without condiments. I meant to ask for some mayo to have with them, but the waiter disappeared too quickly.

Comments about the steaks from other colleagues had very few high notes, with the main being that they were all over cooked. My thought is that the chef may have gotten it right, but the wait staff did just that - they waited too long to bring the food to the table.

The pricing was quite reasonable. My fish was $17.95, and the prime rib was around $18 - prices were generally less than at the Keg, but the ambiance and quality of food and service was definitely NOT up to par with the Keg. Which is a shame, because I would like an independent restaurant to show its stuff compared to a corporate formula.

For dessert I ordered the cake of the day - as did one of my colleagues. When they arrived, there were two different kinds. Also the bus boy announced it by calling it "cake of the month? who has the cake of the month?" - but sounding like "Agamemnon?" who as the Agamemnon?" Again without waiting for our attention, causing confusion. When put in front of me, my cake was missing an entire wedge off of the bottom and was fallen over on it's side (so what eh?) while my colleague's slice stood proud and intact on his plate, and was completely different. His was the actual cake of the day, a nice dark ganoche coated dark chocolate layered cake, while mine was a mocha mousse. Pointing this out to the wait staff only elicited a shrug and the statement that it was the same. We actually held the plates up beside each other, to show him and still it was - "meh, so what? They are the same." Which they clearly were not. Not wanting to make a scene I acquiesced and ate mine. The cake layers were definitely stale. This prompted another quip, in a quip filled luncheon,: they were both cakes of the month, it just happened that mine was from September!

Why, in a fine dining establishment, was i put in the position of questioning my dessert and then feeling like I had to defend myself? Again, at the Keg, I have witnessed customer interaction and service operate at a much higher level.

Also, all of the desserts looked like they were purchased at the local Sobey's or Loblaws grocery, and just sliced up here. I don't think any of them are made on the premises. Just not expected quality.

Finished up with a cappuccino. Tasted fine, but in a thimble sized cup. Could have used a little more. I forgot to mention that we ordered a couple of appetizers for the table - a smoked salmon platter & baby back ribs. Both tasted good. Well prepared, but the service was lacking in that they were plopped down without notice right on my space. I said that they were for the table to share and tried to clear a middle of the table spot, but he wasn't having any of it and walked away without adjusting it. Again - do I have to say it? It appears that this wait staff learned their trade in the era before customer service became prevalent (have you ever been advised to look for younger /recent grad dentists who know about painless treatments? well there seems to be a corollary in the food service industry).

Needless to say, after two kicks at this particular can, I will not be returning. I can see how the Duncan House may appeal to a certain (octogenarian) segment who yearn for Kipling-esque atmosphere, but at risk of sounding like a broken record, you can find all that, plus good food and service at the Keg Mansion downtown - albeit at a higher price.

IMHO, the David Duncan House needs a fresher menu, updated basics in its decor and training for its staff.

This staggeringly beautiful edifice with its magnificent interior, rich in rare old world charm, imparts a feeling that one will be pampered beyond one's wildest dreams. This feeling proves to be 100% accurate and the majority of staff members have been with Bill, Peter & George (Rest in peace, George) for decades. This is an absolutely unique, culinary experience not to be missed!!! Best Caesar salad on the planet!!! (prepared table side) Each meal begins with complementary, highest-quality Kalamata olives and full-sour dill pickles and cottage cheese, as well as a never ending basket of the best garlic bread in town! The David Duncan House is an institution, it's proprietors are geniuses and I hope this restaurant lasts for another quarter-century (I hope I last for another quarter-century because I intend to keep coming back, again and again!!!)

David Duncan House. I have gone to the David duncan House twice recently. Both times I was very happy with my meal, the setting and the service. I highly recommend this place, especially for their prime rib. I also found it to be priced reasonably. If given the choice between the Keg and the Duncan house, I would choose the Duncan house every time. The service is fantastic - far superior to the Keg, as is the food itself. Furthermore, it is not much more expensive than the Keg.

I've been there twice. The place is really charming at night, than more when it is Christmas. But very soon I was quite disappointed with not properly boiled shrimps. Than I liked very much those cranchy Russian style pickled cucumbers. And again I was so upset when I got my main order - Duck in Oranges..... It was sliced small piece of rubber, covered with table spoon of ....orange jam!!!!! I was shocked. One of the two: the cook has no idea what is the recipe of this heavenly tasty French dish, or it was some kind of discrimination to us.... I think about discrimination because I was observing the waiters behavior there and could see they don't care about guests much unless they can expect really good tips. With this kind of the attitude we didn't give there any single penny for the tips at the end. And in addition when got my coat the administrator dared to ask me "Is it Your coat?" It was too much! All charm of the time and the place was disappeared, we left the restaurant highly disappointed, without a wish to come back ever.

Wonderful experience. I was taken to the Duncan David House for lunch today. It was my first time going and didn't know what to expect other than I had heard it was expensiveand had read some bad reviews. . Well, the place was lovely, clean and very interesting. I ordered the prime rib dinner, medium rare and it was served perfectly. I planned on taking half home for another meal, but ate every bit of it, except the fat! Our waitress was great and we were there between 12:30 and 4:50 p.m. We had a great time!

Worst food experience ever!!!!. I took my roommate to eat here as it was her Birthday and she had fond memories of this place growing up and going there with her family. Worst eating experience of my life! Terrible food and even worse service. It was impossible to get the attention of wait staff despite a very empty restaurant. They were very arrogant and uninterested in giving good service. To make matters worse - food was terrible. I don't think I have ever had a worse french onion soup and what was supposed to be an aged tender piece of steak was un-chewable . She only had one bite and I asked for check and we left. Needless to say - I will never go back and will definitely tell others to stay away!!!!!!

Discriminated against a pregnant woman & a child!!!. We used to go to the David Duncan House regularly to celebrate special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays, etc). Normally when my husband and I would go there, we tended to get a lot of "stink eye" (very dirty and judgmental looks) from the wait staff because we look young (we're in our 30s) compared to their average customer, but we tended to ignore it because we enjoyed the food and the ambiance.

Since it was my birthday the other day, we decided to have dinner there and we brought our 2 year old son with us. Needless to say, the "stink eye" was even worse this time since we brought a toddler with us, but again, we chose to ignore it. Our son was quiet and ate happily until the main course arrived, when he started to fuss. While we were trying to calm him down, a waiter came to our table and said that someone had "complained" about the noise, so we resumed trying to get our son to quiet down, however, one minute later, the bill was placed on our table (I was barely halfway through my entree). We were appalled that the staff did absolutely nothing to try to rectify the situation and instead took the cowardly way out and felt it was appropriate to throw us out midway through our meal (they never asked if there way anything they could get for our son to keep him happy, nor did they offer us another location to sit at -- the restaurant was virtually deserted and there were many other places that we could have sat that would have been away from whomever complained). To top if off, as I was attempting to get our things together and get my son ready to leave, the wait staff just stood in the corner and glared at us the entire time until we left. I am 5 months pregnant and they didn't even offer to help us to leave!

We will NEVER be returning to the Duncan House, and if you are under the age of 65, don't bother going there either unless you want to be discriminated against!

This resturant has been one of my favorites for years since I was a young child....and my favorite appetizer has always been Oyster Rockafeller. This resturant makes the best one ive ever tried. The service is fantastic food is excellent 6* plus for me! All around pleasurable experience

Never again. We went to this place for a Christmas Lunch. It was our first and last time.
I cannot understand how this restaurant calls itself "Fine dining".
All waiters are incompetent, very rude and arrogant. The food - is another disappointment.
We ordered the aged beef, which supposed to be tender. However, we were not be able to chew it at all.
Now I understand, why the owner of this restaurant intentionally advertises on the restaurant's web side the lower prices than you can see on the menu (especially wine prices). This is the only way for him to attract the clientele. I do not think that any of the clients who visited this place once will want to come here a second time or recommend it to their friends and relatives.
The quality of food and services we received, reminded me a public eatery place in some Eastern European Country at the time of Socialism regime.

Amazing Ceaser salad, great ribs, and desserts.

This restaurant had the best food we've had in a long time anywhere around here. The wait staff were very personable and even went above and beyond and gave us a free dessert because they liked us so much! Will definitely go back again with friends

Very average. Food was so so ...the prime rib (all of our orders) was not that tender ....I expected a lot more from a place like this ...for sure the Keg has them beat hands down easily ..... service was extremely questionable .....most of our group felt that the waiter gave us attitude ..... there's better places you can spend your money on thats for sure

...probably one of the best Prime Ribs I've ever had! It literally melted in my mouth haha, and I'm not exaggerating..
My dad ordered the classic Duncan House Plate, that consisted of a Filet Mignon, scallops, shrimp, and the veggies & potatoes side as well. I didn't get to try any of his but I knew he absolutely loved it because he finished it all by himself hahaha.

An old school steakhouse with a beautiful property and building (an old Gothic farmhouse) to match. Inside you feel like you are in a fancy home and with old school waiters in tuxedos. The interior is decorated richly, but it still feels like someone's home. Enough about the place, let's get onto the food. This first pic is how the chateaubriand Bouquetiere is served. More on this dish later. The meal starts with delicious garlic bread. Starters of olives, pickles and cottage cheese placate hungry patrons when they arrive. The cottage cheese was extremely plain, the pickles only ok and I don't really like olives too much and these were really strong. Perhaps these starters match the palate of some people, but not mine. Maybe I need to be older? Someone else ordered this Duckling a l'Orange Grand Marnier ($27.95) with a crispy oven-roasted Duckling deboned and topped with their secret orange Grand Marnier sauce. To me the sauce tasted like a sweet and sour sauce, so perhaps
