Loved the Ambiance. It is a very hystorical gorgeous restaurant built in 1852... wood trimmings are marvelous imagine it was a house back then. Food was superb service was excellent.

Mano and Nick, our servers, were amazing. So attentive to detail, told us some of the history of the place, took some nice pictures for us and even surprised my Mom with a slice of cake for her belated 65th birthday and Mother’s Day. So very thoughtful and kind.
I had read mixed reviews regarding change of ownership, quality of food, service, etc...I have to say, there was not one thing where we could find a complaint.

Our steaks were cooked to perfection.
The sides, perfect portion for the 2 of us. I’ve never tasted more delicious, of all things, Brussels sprouts!!

The David Duncan House
passed my expectations in regards to the service, the food, and the overall atmosphere. I would definitely recommend people to go check this place out - you will not regret it. The New York strip and creme brule were amazing, and the decor and how the place was set up was outstanding - I have never seen anything like it. Definitely one of the best restaurants I have been to.
EAs my plate of crispy skinned duck was placed before me, the aroma got me so hungry. The skin made that satisfying crunch and the sweet tartness hint of orange completed the whole package. I was savouring each bite, I forgot to steal a bite from my sister’s Junior New York Strip.
Good steak house. A bit more expensive than the keg but good for what you get. The restaurant it self is beautiful and top notch service.
For myself, the Duncan's cut bone-in prime rib ($49) was beckoning – a thick slab of tender succulent meat coated in a salty barque crust. A hot pool of gravy covered well over half the plate and left the otherwise medium done meat cooked through. Duncan should consider offering the gravy on the side to stop the sauce from cooking the beef before presented.
In true British fashion, a plump Yorkshire pudding adorned the plate, a buttery crust with a downright airy centre. The fries, although pale and limp looking, were hot and rich in potato flavours - they just needed a double fry to give it crunch and colour.

It was a rainy day when we arrived at the David Duncan House. Situated at the north west corner of York Mills and Don Mills, the restaurant is on a rather large plot of land, so finding a parking space will not be an issue here. The restaurant, true to its name, is more like a beautiful large house than a restaurant. Once you step inside, you are greeted by intricate decor and woodwork.
We were promptly seated on the ground floor on a large round table. We ordered the caesar salad as appetizers, which was prepared table side and was absolutely fresh and delicious. I didn't feel like having steak that day, so opted for the BBQ ribs instead. My parents ordered the Duncan Cut Prime Rib, which end up looking (and tasting) a lot better than the ribs. So next time, order steak at a steakhouse!
Dessert was tiramisu and baked alaska. The Baked Alaska, like the Caesar Salad, was prepared table side. The portion is meant for two and it's worth ordering. Oh, and the Tiramisu, oh the Tiramisu was heavenly, possibly the best that I've had anywhere - a definite must!
In my opinion, the best one in all of Toronto! We love the service, ambiance, and delicious food! My family and I keep coming back for more!
I have been coming to this place for years. Unfortunately, I have also seen it deteriorate through the years as well.
During my last visit, I ordered the Duck a l'orange. The duck was crusty and tough. It took a lot of chewing to swallow one piece. The vegetables that came with it were undercooked. So in short, the duck was overcooked and the vegetables were undercooked.
The only saving grace were the mashed potatoes. The scoop I had were buttery, garlicky and worth every bite.
The Duncan House however nailed the prime rib. It is tender and juicy and melts in your mouth. My mother orders it every time we go there and she has yet to complain about it.
To end off the meal I ordered the crème brûlée, which was decent. It was topped with a gooseberry which I thought was cool.
First time at The Duncan House, was recommended by my friend to meet there for lunch. We sat there for lunch. We sat in the lounge and ordered two burgers with the works, fries and a couple of cold beers. Never thought to order burgers at such a place but man were they delicious. The beef was hearty and the fresh and the portions just right. We ate at the bar, watched the ball game. All around a great afternoon. Will definitely go back.
We had a great experience at this location a few weeks ago when we came in with gift cards on a Saturday eve. The food was very delicious! The server was so kind and attentive. Just a kind spirited person, you could tell and so helpful. Service was fantastic and very fast. Was a great treat to spoil yourself! The garlic bread they provide as a free side is to die for!
The combination of food and ambiance was perfect. The food is reasonably priced and frankly I'm shocked they aren't more popular. I will definitely go back, the prices are within range of quality food. The service was good and the place is beautiful. Great date night or celebratory meal. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The only uncomfortable situation was one of the bussers made me feel super uncomfortable with the constant attention and compliments. Besides that, it was all good!
Back on May 1st, 2022, I treated my family out for my 39th birthday to David Duncan House. Overall, I was really impressed with the quality from appetizers to entrees to desserts. I ordered a 12 oz. New York strip, medium and it was one of the best steaks I've had in years. Absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. David Duncan House did not disappoint, it exceeded my expectations. My family has been eating here for years and we're always impressed. My only regret is I tipped our server $40. I should've tipped more.
Recently celebrated my birthday at the David Duncan House and I am so glad that I did. The restaurant is so beautiful inside, I personally really like restaurants with dim lighting. Our server was so attentive and polite. Even the other staff were very friendly. The food was great, wine was fantastic. We will definitely be going back!
Everything was so tasty. Servers where so polite and on top of everything. Great wine and drink selection. Lovely focaccia bread to start and fresh oysters. Steak was done exactly to my liking which is Chicago rare and I know that’s not an easy request. For Dessert I had a cheesecake baklava that was out of this world. Definitely will be back and can’t wait for that day :)
Love the ambience ! If you are planning a date night this place is it.
I got a lobster pasta which was not great, but the quantity of lobster in the pasta was definitely more than any other place in Toronto. A bonus for all lobster lovers.
We also got 4 desserts and every single one of them was made to perfection.
If you get there hungry, the bread served at the start should satisfy you for a while.
This is definitely a good fine dining restaurant. The lighting wasn't too dark. The Caesar salad was wonderful. It has pork belly instead of bacon bits. The lobster pasta has a fair amount of lobster meat. The 12oz roast prime rib was big. Service was good. We enjoyed our evening.
We ordered their fillet mignon steak with some sides, the food quality was good and fresh but for the price we paid, I was expecting a better dish. The interior design was very beautiful, cozy and I really like the style which was close to ginger bread house styles. The service was in a good standard as well. Overall its 4 out 5 compare to other places in same level.
