Excellent kekbob place !!
Usually get kebob here a couple of times a week. Ample tables and clean restaurant! employees are also courteous and friendly!
Busy location. Always full. Food is good. I love bamiyan half chicken always taste the same at all locations. Oh and don't forget to try the sher yakh here that's why I give it 4 stars. This ice cream is amazing! All the kebabs here are good. Just wish the rice had some more flavour that's why I get qabili with toppings. Oh and there bolani isn't that bad either!
The food is delicious as is expected of this franchise. The price is good and the value is good. The atmosphere is quite welcoming. I recommend this place for Afghani food.
Chicken kabob is fantastic. The marinade is very flavourful and chicken cooked just perfectly. Meal is huge with lots of rice. Too big for me to finish.
If you are looking to try afghan cuisine this place is the best call. You'll be absolutely satisfied. Make sure you don't come very very hungry cuz the wait might be too long sometimes. But it all worth it. Love this place, people and of course the food itself. Superb seasoning of salads, chatni, kebabs, oh and the yummiest bread. The best place in Toronto. A must visit restaurant!
Great afghan food. Have to say one of the best I've had. Place is always busy and you have to wait for the food. But you know it's fresh and delicious.
Loved it! We have eatan here a handful of times, it has been busy every single time, and there is a reason why. There is about a 20m wait for the food but so well worth it. We had the tandoor chicken and chicken and lamb kofta. Always moist, always perfectly seasoned. The rice is equally as good and love the Afgan naan.
I seriously love the food here. I always buy extra chutney, as I love dipping my naan bread in it. I wish there were more locations. I need one out in Durham!
Best Afghan in Toronto. Meat is cooked over charcoal, gives it that great bbq taste. Place isn't the biggest but always busy. If you never had afghan food this is the place to try.
There are a number of halal fast food restaurants along Overlea Boulevard in the Thorncliffe Park community in East York. Afghan food and Halal restaurants are everywhere but Bamiyan Kabob, which has become a small local chain with locations throughout the GTA, is our favourite. For lunch recently we enjoyed: Chaplee Kabob - two round pieces of ground beef marinated in fresh grated spices $10.49; All meals include rice, salad & naan; Boulagnee - pan fried, stuffed with potato, green onion and herbs.$ 5.99; Choppan Kabob - lamb chops mildly marinated in different spices $10.99; Sultani Kabob - Combination of Barg Kabob (chunks of filet mignon marinated in our seasoning) and Kofta Kabob (lean ground beef marinated in fresh grated spices and seasoning) $13.49; Bamiyan Chicken Breast Kabob Wrap – chicken marinated, served on a soft tortia with lettuce, tomatoes and onions, with Bamiyan’s Famous Sauces $5.79; and red sauce (spicy) and white sauce.
Yummy and consistent place for kebabs and similar middle eastern fare. The Afghan patties and very good too. Popular place and large portions. Every time I end up busting my belly here - and that's with the fresh baked bread in a doggy bag.
I am at work and it’s lunchtime. Someone suggests this Afghani restaurant which is named in honour for the ancient statues carved into the high cliffs overlooking the Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan. This tiny spot is warm and inviting. I think mostly because of the genuine smiles of the welcoming staff. However the worn room does require a little love.
I've been a regular for a few years now. The food is to die for and the service is quick, however the employees look miserable and annoyed whenever asked for an extra spoon, salad dressing, etc. Only reason I keep coming back is for the tandoori kabob dinners.
Excellent food at an excellent price! They have an ideal concept at this Afghanistan hotspot. Freshly grilled meat, flavorful rice, salad & fresh naan. Delicious combination + fast service = a place to frequent as much as possible!
The service was fast and friendly. The chicken and rice was tasty. Not too fond of the salad the lettuce was in really big chunks and had some bitter parts. I think it's because they kept the stem in it. Overall it was good though.
So delicious!. I have been visiting this location since 2002 when it first opened, and it is consistently delicious and affordable. I actually crave it at random. It's hands-down my favourite restaurant in the city.
I recommend the chicken breast kabob dinner - tender, juicy, and flavourful. A close second is the Tandoori chicken kabob. Portions are massive, and everything is made to perfection .
Don't be put off by people's reviews of the service. There is no service - you basically order, pick it up when they call your number, and enjoy. Also, they cook in an open kitchen so leave your jacket in the car (if you came in one) - the delicious aroma sticks to your clothes for a long time.
If you are in doubt, go! You won't regret it.
Impressed. My girlfriend and I went to Bamiyan Kabob this past Sunday, it was my first experience. There wasn't too much for descriptions on the menu, but everything looked delicious. I ordered tandoori chicken, and my gf ordered TIkka kabob, even thought it was busy the wait was no more then 10 min from the time we exchanged money. the food was hot and fresh! very tasty. Portions were almost too much. but great value for your dollar. I will def be going back and trying more!
Just checked out this place with my cousin and niece last night. We ordered two half chicken kabob dinners and the chicken breast kabob dinner. It was busy when we go there at around 9:45 pm, but it only took us 8 min to get our take-out order. The price of food was reasonable considering the large portion sizes. The texture and flavor of the chicken was incredible and the chicken breast was very moist. As this was my first time at this type of restaurant I was unsure how to incorporate the nan into the meal, but it was delicious just the same. All in all this was a great place and I would not only reccommend it to others but will most definitely make several return visits!
Rustic yumminess. :). So any place that cooks their meet on an open flame is good in my books. They give ample portions but its the flavor that counts. Too much rice so its more cost effective for someone to order 1 dinner and then just the kabobs. Special note the tandoori chicken is exceptional (and spicy).
The food is great, but I can't say the same for the service.
One of the best middle eastern places in town. Don't forget to try sultani kabab
Something different. Tasty, big portions, well priced. Just need better translation in the menus.
Bamiyan Kabob is a clean neighbourhood Afghan resto. I suggested to my wife that we get out of the house to someplace different, and remembered a writeup in The Star on Thorncliffe Park in East York. It's not exactly a destination for us, but I've bicycled around the neighbourhood in the summer.
After shopping in the mall (practically across the street), we pulled into the parking lot in the middle of a snowstorm. The restaurant was quite full. The room could best be described as upscale fast food: it's clean, with warm colours, and my wife comment on the steel-backed chairs being cold with the winter.
We ordered two dishes: the lamb (with nan and salad), and tikka kebab (rice, nan and salad). The portions are large, so this turned out to be the right amount for us. splitting the rice. The nan was a thick crusty flatbread -- we wouldn't normally have described it as nan -- and we think we might have preferred the bread that some other diners were getting -- possible the Afghan nan shown at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghan_bread .
The meal was well-prepared with aromatic spices, and a spicy tomato-based dipping sauce (good for me, too spicy for my wife).
Did we think the food was well-prepared? Yes. Did we think the food was reasonably priced? Yes. Would we go back? Maybe, but only if we were already in the neighbourhood.
I'm not a big fan of grilled kebabs to start with, so the question essentially is one of preferences. The style at Bamiyan Kebob seems to be lower fat than we would get at a Greek resto on the Danforth -- where olive oil is more omnipresent. The meat wasn't dry or overcooked, just lean and different in style. I think that I would have preferred an extra brush of olive oil on the kebabs.
The clientele is multi-ethnic, and seemed to be having a good time on a Saturday night. There was a mix of university students -- good luck trying to seat 8 people at one table! -- families, one well-dressed couple with impeccable knife-and-fork technique, and another couple where the husband had kebabs with his wife who had bought Popeye's chicken next door.
I recommend this as an inexpensive change of pace for anyone who needs a change of scenery.

The restaurant has been listed in the neighbourhood view of the Toronto Star at http://www.thestar.com/comment/columnists/article/307071 .
My boss and I were taking a cab across town recently, and we began chatting with the driver about food. Insisting that the best Afghani food in the city was Bamiyan Kabob, he gave us a menu and suggested we see for ourselves. The place was buzzing for a Thursday afternoon; a good, good sign. From reading the menu all week, I had the Sultani Kebob on my radar. Huge pieces of Filet Mignon (Barg) and a skewer of BBQ Ground Beef (Kofta) were served with Rice, Green Salad, Mista Salad (Diced Tomato & Red Onion) and Afghan-style Naan (which is more like bread than it is like Indian-style Naan).Other dinners include Tandoori Chicken, Chaplee (Ground Beef), Tikka (Beef Tenderloin) and Choppan (Lamb); all of which can be wrapped-up in Naan and served as a sandwich… a truly Afghani dining experience with obvious hints of the Mediterranean (both in taste and presentation). With five locations across the GTA, Bamiyan Kabob is waiting for you; waiting to exceed expectations. There’s a reason why all the cabbies eat there.
Before covid it used to be my go to lunch place. Now they have increased the prices, charging extra for additional sauce, reduced the size of naan, half chicken came with one less piece, less salad & using smaller plate size.
The quality of food is still great but disappointing to see all the negative changes.
Their wrap is better option than platters. I like chicken tandoori wrap spicy. It is tasty and juicy.
Why only charge debit or cash. Start accepting CREDIT cards.
Fresh naans and delicious bbq dishes cooked to order, Bamiyan gets the job done! The food was good although they need to work on their decor, washrooms and facilities.
First time trying Afganistan food. Tried Chicken Kofta with salads, food was fine. Large portion and fair price.
Staff there was not that easy to communicate with in terms of customizing the order. 4 star rate is a balanced review for the food quality and price.
we ordered chaplee kabob and kofta chicken and beef kabob. it was delicious.
nice environment. good customer service.
Variety of mazing food with reasonable price range.
Good kebabs at a very decent price
Liked Chicken chapli and tandoori kebab
You can have it with rice salad and bread
They give it with sauce very tasty I could taste the spices int it must try
Great kebabs. I often pick up. I always ask for the salad to be on the side but they don't always get it and the salad comes mixed in with the hot rice. The combo with one skewer of chicken and one of beef is great as it's enough for two of us.

Bamiyan kabob provide authentic Afgani cousin. The taste of food is very good all the dishes are not spicy. I order kabuli pulao with lamb shank which is really nice 👌.
My other friends which was with me also like and recommend this place who like lamb related dishes or who like beef.
