Review Ajisen Ramen - Toronto

Rap Rap
5 stars for the tasty foods. Had pork katsu and spicy chicken ramen. Both excellent. Tidiness and washrooms could've been improved. We didn't feel rushed as I've read from other reviews, and it was a Sunday. Overall satisfied with service and food.

Went there around a week ago, on Thursday May 19th. Ramen was good, nothing very special though. Service was good, very easy to get attention of the server. They also checked on us if everything was alright. Would recommend to go once in a while.

Come here, you won't regret it! Great ramen and great service! I would like to note the attentive waitress with glasses, she was excellent! It was my first time here and I am very glad that I got here, now I’ll be a regular guest

Great place for getting ramen fast! Tom yum broth is spicy and delicious. Steak could be a bit more tender though. Server forgot to give us a knife with for our steak too.

Fast service but was not rushed out the door when done. Ramen was perfect, can highly recommend grilled sizzling shrimp and the black garlic broth is full of flavour without the piercing sharpness one expects from the notorious herb.

Good experience. Service was really fast. They offer free wifi and really good covid safety with plexi screen and hand sanitizer on each table. Pricing is also very good. If you love a lot of spice you will enjoy the tom yum broth it's delicious! One of the best tom yum broths i have tried. I was very close to giving a 5 star review but my friend who ordered the vegetable broth mentioned it had an over powering spice/seasoning in there that didn't taste all that great compared to the tom yum that was absolutely amazing. Also I ordered the steak with my ramen and it was too salty. Other than these minor notes the over all experience at Ajisen was great and I will definitely come back for the tom yum again.

I got the Japanese Fried Rice (w/ chicken) here, and it was great. The portions were big, and it was delicious!

Chinese run/owned ramen shop. Noodles were firm, broth was seasoned well, and everything came out in under 10 minutes. Would recommend for a quick lunchtime or dinner time meal.

DEAD COCKROACH floating on the soup!!!

Yes, you saw that right. last time I went there for dinner and when I nearly finished my noodle soup, I saw a dead cockroach floating on the soup. It was absolutely disgusting, ridiculous and gross me out.And I have taken a picture of that.

I ordered a spicy fried rice which I liked. I also tasted their pork ramen the spicy one, best ramen I tasted in Toronto. Its also affordable and worh it. Staff were nice and the resto is easy to find.

Ambaince/Decor
They have decided to put as many seats as possible in one locations. The seating felt a little cramped. There is art all over the walls of sumo wrestlers. There bowls glued on the side of the wall from different time Era. There was a lot to see around the place. It was loud even with limited people in the restaurant.. Interesting choice of music too. I found my self enjoying my food listening to Beyonce from 2005.

Food:

Seaweed salad: tasted good. Can't go wrong with it
Warm snow peas: I tried this for the first time and it wasn't bad.

Spicy Ramen Noodles: I got the shrimp.. The shrimp was the best part. They came out sizzling and were charred perfectly. They were a little salty but i disnt mind. Unfortunately they only give 3 shrimp opened & twisted around on a stick. Since this was the best part I wish they had give me more. The Ramen noodles it self wasn't bad. I like the broth better.

My friend got the chicken Ramen noodles. She was very disappointed. The broth it self had some flavor but the chicken was just dry boiled chicken

My other friends got the Spicy Steak Ramen: Theirs also came out sizzling. The Steak is recommended, and most popular at this place. They enjoyed it very much.

I would definitely return for some late night Ramen noodles. The prices were decent too.

You won't be disappointed in the Ramen but you also won't be impressed. The pork that I had in the soup was relatively thin and not as succulent as other places I've tried. I bought the 'choose your degree' of hotness Ramen and went with 100. It was pretty damn hot, was tearing up, but it wasnt a burn that stayed in the mouth. Worth a try if you want a quick and cheap bite.

My first ramen experience was awesome. Large portions, great price, tasted awesome. I got the spicy chicken ramen and it was tasty. Also had seaweed salad and gyoza. Yum!

This is the perfect meal on a super cold day. Ramen is definitely one of my winter comfort foods...and what better place than Ajisen to asassiate my craving.
The variety of menu items is astonishing but delightful. I honestly wanted to order one of every type of ramen they offer, and rice dish.
The service is super friendly and polite. The prices are extremely reasonable and most of all, the ramen is superb. The broth is delicious - full of flavour and light (clean). Most ramen places serve broth that is way too salty and heavy which doesn't leave you with a pleasant aftertaste.
If this cold spell holds up, I'll definitely be back soon!

Spicy pork Ramen on a cold day. Ultimate comfort! Service is fast. Broth is hot. My only complaint is too little pork in the soup. Love this place.

I came to Ajisen Ramen on Nuit Blanche with five other people. We walked into the tiny restaurant and it was packed.
However, within 5 minutes they were able to clear a table for us.
I ordered the Ajisen Spicy Pork Ramen ($8.99) and some gyoza.
My whole table ordered Ramen and drinks and within five to seven minutes we all had our food. The ramen here, like the North York location, was decent. I made the mistake of ordering the ramen a bit too spicy for my tolerance. From what I was able to taste, I really enjoyed the flavour of the ramen.
The gyoza were tasty, and everyone else enjoyed their meal.

Good, Fast, and Simple. I went here with my mom and sister for a quick meal and we decided to try out this place. The service was...mediocre(and very casual). They saw us, told us to sit where ever, brought some hot tea (which was perfect on a cold day), took our orders and within 5mins we were already eating our ramen. It being my first time there, I chose something simple: Japanese Beef Shank Ramen, which was actually quite good and filling, although the beef didn't taste very fresh (as if it was out a while), a little disappointing since I wanted beef and not...soggy meat (does that make sense?). Overall I was quite satisfied and would definitely go back if I was looking for a quick bite.

You can never go wrong with a hot soup on a cold, fall evening. Had myself the Koji Salt Pork Ramen which was great, my wife had the Scallop Ramen and our guest had the Seafood Ramen. All great choices in my book. Service is fast and friendly. The food is always great even though I haven't tried the whole menu yet I do love my favourites. Come have some Great soup in a great little place on Spadina. :)

Food in the Flood. Even with pouring rain and no power we were able to get a delicious meal complete with hot tea and great service. The noodles are delicious and the portions are huge.

Yes to Ramen!. Ramen ramen, good broth, and good pork char sui. The problem.. the noodles? What is going on with their spaghetti heavy dense noodles? like really? WHY??? It has the potential to be the best Ramen in the city, but just make your noodles thinner. Prices are good, just stick to order the Ramen, in general the flavours are good and portions are great.

Absolutely unhappy with this place. I stood at the front waiting for a seat for about 5 minutes. They didn't give me one so I took one. I ordered something small because I was waiting for a friend. Their retort to my sushi and bubble tea was "That's IT?! Just two things??" My jaw just dropped. Wow. Ok. That was rude.
Then she dropped my plate down, didn't even look at me, I said I needed the menu for later because I'm waiting for a friend. She said "Uh huh" and took the menu anyway. After I finished my sushi she took my chopsticks. As I had mentioned earlier, I needed them for soup later and I didn't want to eat a big meal before my friend arrives.
Then when I asked for a menu to order soup she took off and never came back. So I went to the next table and took a menu. I ordered my soup from a different waitress. They took 5 other orders and delivered it before delivering mine, this took 30 minutes before delivering my food. When they did, I had no utensils to eat with. I didn't even want to ask for water. I figured I wouldn't get a glass of water anyway. So I asked the manager for chopsticks.
He gave me some.
I ate a bit but promptly left with the rest of the noodles in a to go container. This was an experience I don't want to have again. No paying customer deserves to be mistreated like this. This was just plain rude.
They weren't even busy. I walked in and three tables were taken out of 25.

Neat Place. Huge menu selection, from curry dishes to soups, lots of appetizers and bubble tea drinks. I go there regularly and it never disappoints.

Eh..... I have been here once and in that one visit , Idid not walk away thinking i have go back again. The broth isgood and kinda hearty but the hype precedes them. It was not spectacular - it is good. The different items in your soup does not really have a distinct taste so you are eating the same spoon each time. The space is a bit crowded with no high chairs avail - just booster seats and not so clean if I may add. If you are looking for that ramen fix, i suggest you just order a nice bowl of noodle soup from the other chinese restos near by. We also ordered fried rice but it was again the same taste across the ingredients. I would rather go to Rol San or Swatow and have the option to order dimsum besides a noodle soup that will prally give me my ramen fix.

Noodles are spaghetti; if u r into that. The broth was Ok. I had BBQ pork ramen w corn & soft shell crab and deep fried oysters. All were ok. Nothing special. Glad I tried but don't think I'll be going back.

Superb. While visiting Toronto, I had the pleasure of stopping in at Ajisen Ramen. A good ramen joint is hard to find and Ajisen is terrific. I had the pork ramen and it was a bowl of soul pleasing goodness. I spent a few years in Japan and Ajisen could easily hold its own in the land of the rising sun.

Magical. I'm a fan of this food shop..since my Singapore days. plus The softshell crab comes as a side dish.

I like the soup so much.. there's something different compared to other ramen.. i drove all the way from etobicoke to makrham last time . And thank goodness for the branch in dtown..

Great taste! Must be the noodles and white based soup.
I particularly order Nan Pork and Pork Ramen..

Beat ramen ever! besides japan, but pretty awesome. the fried rice is good too!

Tom yum ramen a winner. I've been here three times now, so I'll review by dish:

1) BBQ Pork Ramen w/ Corn -- classic soup, good pork, yummy egg -- B+

2) Ramen w/ Pork Cutlet -- great cutlet, but pretty much only broth to go with it (no egg or other veggies) -- C

3) Tom Yum w/ BBQ Pork -- awesome, couldn't have enjoyed this more -- A+

The location is nice and clean, with awesome hot pink chairs. We'll continue going here regularly.

Very pleased I tried this place. I love noodles. I also love spicy. Neither of which was a disappointment here.

I'm usually very skeptical of all Chinese run Japanese places but I am glad to have tried this - especially after experiencing several Ajisen in Hong Kong which was sub par.

Service is typical of China Town style but fair.

There are about 20 Ramen dishes to choose from as well as 30+ apps. I have tried the Tom Yum Style Chicken Ramen and The Volcano thus far - both of which are so good. I can't wait to try the others!

Since my last review, I have returned to the Chinatown's location a couple of times. They have updated their menu again a couple of months back. The extensive menu offers bright and clear images of the food items. Additionally, in my opinion, their food and service seem to be quite consistent these days. Our severs are often friendly, quick and efficient.

Ajisen Ramen has a great selection of ramen and other non-noodles dishes, so there's something for everyone. Ajisen Ramen is a decent place to go to for a quick lunch or dinner, but there are other better places for ramen.

This Japanese Ramen Restaurant originated in Kumamoto Japan and has over 120 stores outside of Japan (however there are over 150 stores in Japan alone and 360 stores in China)!

The potato cakes were okay, but, really, if you’re coming to Ajisen to eat, you’re coming for the ramen. Both times, I was enjoying my food too much to really notice what Mark and Stacey had ordered.

...Bright lights, lots of vibrant colours, pink chairs, canteen-style sitting with mostly community tables • Ideal for: Casual, family, casual date, quick eat •

As I mentioned in a previous post , Lucy and I took a trip down to Toronto. I was heading down to cover the marathon . (Looking for your official photos? Go to Marathon Foto .) We took the morning bus, so Lucy and I arrived early in the afternoon - just i

They are very quick with preparing your food but don't expect to make small talk. They get you what you need with a smile and then go back to chatting behind the counter. They have good ramen though so go check them out!

I have been to this outpost of Ajisen two or three times now and have also eaten at the Yonge St restaurant a number of times and I prefer the Yonge St.
It's a chain and it's not run by Japanese people so it's got a very Chinese flavour, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's not a hardcore, traditional ramen house if that is what you are looking for.
It's nice to be able to have a tom yum ramen for a change when I can't decide between ramen and thai and it's fast. They also have a decent amount of alternative menu items for friends who aren't in the mood for noodles.

Sometimes the noodles are overcooked and the broth could be hotter but it's cheap, it's convenient and sometimes I will take that over better ramen but long lineups.

Ajisen Ramen 味千拉麵 is a worldwide chain, so do not expect they have really good ramen especially there are so many competition in Toronto now. Since they had the scandal using concentrated liquid not pork bones to make its noodle soup in China and Hong Kong, I already don’t have any confident in this place. This Ajisen in Chinatown has a cute girl figure standing outside and people like taking picture with her. Their ramen is okay but it is just not the right place to have real ramen.

Ajisen Ramen is a chain based out of Kyushu, Japan, and there are three locations in Ontario. One of my favorite items (and usual order) is their Aijisen shoyu BBQ chicken udon ($9.75). Despite their namesake, I rarely order ramen from Ajisen Ramen as I don't eat ramen all that often. I would eat it occasionally, but my favorite noodles would have to be udon. The udon at Ajisen Ramen is one of my favorites in Toronto. I was sad when I couldn't find it on their updated menu. However, I was informed that the ramen could be substituted for udon (for no additional cost) and I can get it with chicken broth. The chicken broth is a lot lighter than the pork broth used for the ramen soup. The udon came out hot, and the broth had a good flavor (enhanced by the spices on the table). They actually don't mix the chicken into the broth anymore. Rather, the shoyu BBQ chicken udon would arrive to the table on a sizzling hot plate. The Japanese deep fried tofu ($5.50) was crispy on the outside, and soft/warm on the insides. Delicious!
