Review Little India Restaurant - Toronto

Chasing__Nirvana___
The name says it all 😍 🇮🇳. We went for dinner here, the ambiance is welcoming (typical traditional Indian restaurants) and charming. The food quality is good.. but it can be better though. I felt the spice level was a bit mild for an authentic Indian restaurant. Considering the quality the prices are reasonable !! This place has a good Indian liquor collection. We tried Sura beer.. it was worth the shot !! The staff is polite and attentive, the staff recommendations are must try !! The service is pretty fast.

Veg Spring roll was super great. Lamb Biryani was also nice but they used a little more salt. Because of too much waiting for food they offered us free Gulab Jamun. Overall ok experience.

This place served some really delicious Indian Food. The place was almost full despite another Indian resturant near by. The place was very clean. The staff was impressively quick to clean the table and readjust the cloths, glasses, chairs etc. Ordered Spring roll, Masala Dosa, Rasmalai in sweedish and finally the Spices (masla) Chai. All the ordered items were very good , fresh and tasty. Drinks are also served here. Food portions are good and the price is also reasonable. The service is quick and caring. Nice experience indeed.

We went here to have dinner and the food was really great. We ordered chicken pakora, vegetarian thali and kothu roti. Kothu Roti was amazing and they had with egg or chicken. Chicken pakora was tasty but the spicy level was less. They do have regular tea and coffee and it was okay.

We visited them few months ago. Service was really good. Cocktail kababs could have been better . Our server came during and after our meal.. keep it up guys. And yes sahi paneer is a must try..

We ordered spicy chicken curry(very spicy), lamb, and eggplant with naan and rice. The food was really good. I ordered red wine, taste like it has been opened long time. So I took one star off.
Charaka
The food was good, but missed the mark at every dish. The meat needed more marination to absorb more flavour. The chicken pakora was more like tandoori flavoured chicken strips. The naan was decent.

A Feast treat for those who come alone. Little India restaurant really nailed a lone foodie’s needs. They had the Meat Combo for one which I ordered which included a variety of curry and marinated BBQ along side Palau Rice and freshly baked naan(like, out of the oven type of fresh, with the crunch!). WOW was it perfect. You can try lots of their dishes in one go at the perfect serving size at a very reasonable price. The combo itself was 25 cad but hell it is the most worth it 25 I’ve spent alone in a restaurant.

Never disappoints

I have eaten here many times. I want back with a group of friends last week and Little India did not disappoint. The servers were excellent. We had many dishes and everyone was in agreement that the food was delicious. I highly recommend their Kashmiri Naan.

Being two weeks in Canada, me and my team craving Indian food like anything.

We found this place with an amazing rating and decided to give it a shot and ordered the following:

1. One plate samosa
2. one plate pakora
3. Garlic naan
4. Roti
5. Baigan bhartha
6. Kadhai paneer
7. Kadhai chicken

Even though the food was not as awesome as Indian food usually is, the flavours were not as bad. They were very mild as compared to what we get in India for both paneer and chicken curries but were really good for the craving.

Baigan bhartha was decent too. Would have been better if was mashed with hands instead of being completely mixed up

the things that were exceptionally amazing were the starters - samosa and pakora and garlic naan.

Starters at this place are so good - they are a must try for your cravings especially especially the pakoras.

The food at this price is awesome, probably one of the best Indian places around downtown and queens

One of my favourite Indian restaurants in Toronto. Easily get's busy in the afternoon for the lunch buffet, so you make sure you try to reach early unless you have reserved. The butter chicken was absolutely scrumptious and the other appetizers were good too. The desserts were okay but I was expecting a bit more. On the whole, this is a must-try for Indian food lovers in Toronto. Highly recommended!

Got a biryani from this place last night. It was about to close, they were stacking the chairs, but on asking they took my take away order. Nice biryani, had a good amount of spices. Given that price was a bit higher than the last Indian place I went to, I was expecting it to be very good so it didn't meet my expectation. Staff was polite. Good place, will try more dishes from here.

This restaurant was the last place that I went to in Toronto. As soon as I entered, their staff greeted me and helped me find a table.Their buffet menu is limited. But, I'd say that's sufficient to make your palate taste some good Indian food. I enjoyed my meal and the dessert here. Their staff were courteous and their service was really good. Pricing is moderate. I'd recommend this place if you're looking to try Indian food.

Authentic indian food specially for chicken lovers. I loved the butter chicken tikka . Also ,i liked the staff and service was good. Its an apt place if you are looking for some great indian food.

Visited on a busy Friday night but the service was still outstanding. Had the set menu for two and every single dish was delicious. Great value for money as you get a starter, 3 mains, rice and naan. Also comes with dessert which we did not like as it was cottage cheese in cream, very odd but may just be personal taste. Not enough to detract from the amazing quality of the rest of the meal!

Some of the worst butter chicken I have ever tried in my life. The curry was runny and so sweet that it was like eating dessert. It's like the chef has never tasted what they cook for their customers. Portion sizes are tiny, the bulk of it being curry sauce. Stingy on the meat. Naan is good, kotthu roti was half decent. Service is ok but nothing exceptional, they had trouble splitting the bill for a large group (we lost about 15 minutes correcting multiple mistakes). Prices are ridiculous for the portion sizes. I think there are better Indian restaurants in the area. That being said, I cannot comment on their buffet as we went during dinner time.

Probably the worse Indian food i've had ever. People in Toronto just don't know the actually flavour of Indian food. Due to dearth of good indian restaurants in the area, people just feed off of whatever they are served! So fans of Indian food would just go and get whatever they get in these restaurants.

I'm not kidding that this was one of the worst meals i've ever had. Don't want to be mean but I have to be honest to my readers.

Flavorless.

Stale.

Pricey.

Average service.

These adjectives pretty much define my experience at this restaurant.

Sad scene!!

Indian Lunch Buffet for 15 CAD steps from work. It was a godsend or so I thought when I ventured to try Little India.

Start was ordinary. I picked up Tandoori Chicken which was average if a bit cold ( I entered at 11:30 AM and was among the first guys to eat the lunch) but what pissed me off was the red chutney which was essentially red chilly paste.

Disappointed I tried Chicken curry which was average. But the biggest shock was Butter Chicken - which was actually sugary sweet ! That was the last straw as I promptly left the place.

Guys your food is average and might be nice for the spice averse westerners but for an Expat Indian its a letdown when the delicacies of his land are represented so badly !
SarahNOM
This place is very reasonably priced and the food was good but all the meat we had was overcooked. We ordered a meat platter (obviously) and it comes with lamb and chicken and whatever but everything was quite dry. We had to load up on the sauces.

By far the worst Indian restaurant in Toronto. The waiters are so arrogant and don't even bother to serve the dishes properly. The arrogance with which they serve the food makes you want to leave the restaurant immediately. The food tastes very ordinary and the overall service is extremely poor. Will never recommend this place to anyone.

My friend and I ate a meat combo for 2 persons. The prize is fair and portion is super large! Enough for 3 persons! The combo including baked dough, rice, chicken, curry, vegetable salad, lamb, sausage and shrimps

Went there for my first visit a few weeks ago for a late lunch..they have an amazing buffet spread !! Good indian food which is medium on the spice level.Great variety for the appetizers and main course.Decent choices for the dessert as well but i was pretty much full by the time i got to dessert.Their masala chai is a must have !!

Was desperately craving for Indian food when we luckily found Little India. Lovely place to be, good staff. We ordered chicken and lamb biryani and literally enjoyed every bit of it: quite an achievement! Too bad the dishes are a bit too spicy.
SA
Ordered Veg Thali and Meat Combo. Enough quantity but all dishes were average. Butter chicken was very sweet and we couldn't finish it. We asked for extra spicy but all the chef did was added chilli powder and I could taste the dry powder ( it wasn't prepared properly for enough time). As Indians, we found the dishes to be average. We won't be going back.

For anyone who likes chicken fingers, Little India’s chicken pakora ($7.75) is a fantastic take on the classic dish. Juicy pieces of white meat is lightly breaded in a colourful but rather tasteless batter and deep fried until it’s ever so slightly crunchy. On their own, the pakora are underwhelming; but, a dip into the sweet and spicy tangy tamarind sauce does loads to improve the starter.

The lamb vindaloo ($15.50) had the basic hit of fiery heat you’d expect from the dish, but lacked the vinegar and herbs in the background that makes it more than just a spicy curry. The lamb itself was fine – soft enough and not gamey – however, the portion rather meagre with large potato chunks filling a third of the bowl.

What I’ve come to realize is vegetarian dishes are often better choices at Indian restaurants. There were large pieces of paneer in the tikka masala ($14.95). The creamy tomato sauce just ever so slightly spicy but not overwhelming to detract from the cheesy firm tofu texture of

Looking at the good rating, went here for lunch buffet on a long weekend... Overall the food was below average. Variety is too less, only two options in starters(chicken only), nothing at all in Sea food or lamb... and naan was too chewy n cold. Just a couple of options in desserts which were also way below average....The only positive was the service...

Finally a good Indian restaurant in downtown serving an awesome buffet. So wife, kid and myself landed at LI yesterday to celebrate a special day.I had reserved a table for the lunch and glad I did.It was super crowded and there were atleast 4-5 groups waiting with an average wait time of 20-30m. Confirmed about my reservation to the manager and was assigned a table within 5 m.

I was initially confused on choosing between the buffet and menu. But later settled to the buffet which is priced 14.95 per person. The spread was good with a lot of varieties spanning from palak paneer, chole, eggplant mash, dhal to meat. The naan bread was soft and went well with the gravies. The star of the meal though was the pickles, chutneys with pakodas, veg rolls which we devoured. It was good to see lot of non-Indians flocking the place and a couple of them were actually getting tips on how to combine dishes and have a better flavour.

The desserts section had Kheer, badam sweet, gulab jamun and ice creams.Overall a hearty meal. And a A+ for the service. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Would be visiting them often!

I have dined at Little India over 5 years and have loved it up until the last few times. Ever since the new management has come and they redid the restaurant, the quality has gone down the drain. Worst of all, the staff are bottom of the barrel, extremely rude, one telling me to "F*** off, we don't need you as a customer" after having an issue with a dish.
Be prepared for lamb curries with 5 pieces of lamb (50% of which is bone), dry beef with tendons, and a nonchalant lackadaisical rude staff.
Unfortunately with new management comes change, and it was not for the better with Little India.

Good Indian food on Queen near university ave. always crowded with many folks which usually means the food, the service and atmosphere is good. I did find that to be the case.
Soma
Really it was a bad choice !! We booked a table but when we arrived we wait for more than 15 mints!! And again we wait long time !till they bring the food!!
When I asked if they have non spicy ( shrimps Bariani ) he said yes ! However, he bring V. Spicy!! I told him ( why it is so spicy he said that he gave them the order and told them to make it "mild spicy"!! Who will decided I am the one or him!!? What's the wrong with this guy!! Anyway he changed the rice to ( white rice)!!!
All the food tastes the same. Not sure why this place is so well rated. Quite a shame, will not be going back and would not recommend this to anyone!

Slipped into this little eatery for an early supper. They seated us quickly and despite being almost full, the service was prompt and friendly.

Favorite: vegetable thali plate - great value and delicious.

My time in Toronto was coming to a close. I had tried the many cuisines that this multicultural city had to offer, so thought tonight was as good as any for some Indian food. The night was cold and the wind was sharp, I wanted something within walking distance of my hotel. And apparently there isn’t much available after 7pm on Sunday. So I was in luck to be able to walk in and get a table right away, while a few others waited. Many were in the same position I was, out of options, and just happy that this was available. Especially after learning that this was one of the best voted Indian restaurants downtown Toronto. And given the amount of people they kept coming in well after 9pm, and all the take out orders that went through the exit, I guess it is safe to assume this to be true.
HungryHulk
Cons: didnt follow instructions and made all order super spicy when asked only for one dish, lightening sucks , didnt asked if needed ice or not n server water without ice, server argued for no reason over mis hearing and not confirming.

Pros : location , i loved food being most tolerant to spicy food. Paneer masala was yummy but paneer was hard n old , daal makhni was good plus naan was soft . Butter chicken was enjoyed by family too besides being super spicy.

You must try their lunch buffet!! Price is a bit higher than a few years ago, but definitely still worth going to.
My favourite Indian restaurant on King St, their dinners are also pretty nice as well, especially their Tandoori chicken and biryanis.
I recommend their butter chicken, and if you haven't tried Indian food yet, I suggest you try their lunch buffet first! :)
Izayoyi
Great buffet here. The butter chicken and chicken tandoori were so delicious! I also love the yellow daal with naan. Finally, the ice cream was awesome! I want even more!

Pretty descent Indian restaurant at the center of Entertainment District. I'd a Dal Soup, Veg Platter and a veg Thali. To start with Dal Soup and veg platter... Which was a mix of samosa, spring roll and pakoras - that tasted good. Veg Thali was average nothing worth bragging about. To end with a dessert opted for a Kulfi which was again very average. Homely Indian food joint that can be visited once in a while.

After playing board games for six hours across the street at A Game Cafe, we were starving. This was the second choice after the first spot that Zomato recommended closed early. For one of the coldest nights this winter, this place was still jammed with people. It helps that it was really warm inside. They have all the different curries, butter chicken, and veggies/beans dishes. We decided to go with the meat lovers combo ($36.95) that came with a basket of naan, bowl of rice, butter chicken, vegetable curry of the day, tandoori chicken, reshmi kabab, lamb tikka, and shrimp. Even though it was for two, honestly it could feed up to three adults. I thought the butter chicken was a little on the salty side but the rest of the items were excellent. They also have paneers, tikkas, and other tandoori dishes on their menu. The setting is quite intimidate with candles and roses on the table.

Delivery time was a touch long. 1 hr and 10 mins, even tho they said 45. Seems to be the standard operating policy set by the Indian food guild of metropolitan centers worldwide. The meat combo for two is $60 with tips, delivery, hst. Not the bestest deal. Naan is phenomenal and massive. Like a blankie. You could make a fort! That you can eat. The vegetable curry was out of this world. The butter chicken was mislabeled- it should be aylmer brand ketchup nicely emulsified on over cooked white chicken. It was absolutely not butter chicken, it was tomatoes and vinegar and just why bother?!?!?! Horrible. The mixed prawns, lamb and chicken Tandoori was fine. Peas paloa (sping?) Was fine. Overall the place was fine. Fine. K. It's fine.

Good location, but the food is nowhere close to the real Indian food that is consumed at homes or in restaurants (in India). The names of the dishes are Indian, but either it is mellowed down to suit the local palate or it uses canned ingredients and/or artificial flavoring. All the food simply put, lacks original spices and freshness.

A small but cozy place right in the heart of downtown Toronto with great Indian flavours and hospitable staff. We ordered the Thali which was a sumptuous dinner rich in authentic Indian flavours at a pocket friendly price!
Jamie Sarner
A long-time favourite of downtown locals and office dwellers, this Indian restaurant focuses on the best-loved dishes of Indian cuisine, and expects its regulars to show up in duos or groups of 10 or more, thanks to a spacious dining room with its daily buffet available with a wide range of menu items.
Diners know their favourites: Chicken pakora ($7.50), Onion bhajia ($5.50), Butter chicken ($13.95) and Paneer tikka masala ($12.95).
Vegetable biriyani ($10.95) and special naan ($3.95) are essential – and for dessert, the ever-popular gulab jamun, Indian dougnuts with cardamom in syrup ($3.75).
Little India is one of the best Indian places in Toronto!

After reading all the reviews we had high hopes for this place. Were were really disappointed with the food quality. Butter chicken was too sweet, the bbq meats tasted stale, everything had too much food colouring. On top of that we ended up getting sick from it. Not authentic. Stay away.

I've been here a few times so this review is based on the overall impression. This restaurant traditionally has the best curry in the area. I've tried a variety of the curries mostly of the meat variety. The meat is usually moist and not fatty or chewy like you get in some restaurants. If you order chicken it can be occasionally on the dry side. It depends on the night you go I guess. The vindaloo is always nice and spicy which I like and not toned down for the masses. Be warned. The madras is always yummy with a food ratio of sauce to meat. The chicken Korma has nice hints of lime and coconut. The sali boti is good hut not great. I wish the flavoi a had more layers here and was a bit less oily.
The appetizers for the most part can be missed. The samosas are just okay. The spring rolls need off the menu and don't fit. The chicken pakora is my favourite appetizer. Be sure to get the garlic naan as it is always delicious. I always end up coming back here when I crave Indian food. And this in itself says something in a city like Toronto.

Decent indian buffet downtown! Great price for lunch buffet for a friday work lunch! In and out quick! Nothing spectacular but definitely worth a try if your looking to have indian and find yourself downtown TO ;)

Been here many time, food is good and ask them to make spicy. Prices are little bit high as compare to other but food and service both are good.

One of those rare indian buffets what I enjoyed. The chicken pakodas were good. I also enjoyed the vegetarian fare. Would visit Little India for my fix of Indian food.
Matt
It's a nice Indian restaurant with a buffet. Small place with good food. Good service as well. I would recommend the chicken pakora.
Bibek
Its Indian restaurant targeted for both Indians and Non-Indians. Must try meat combo and Chicken biryani. Biryani (attached pic) is not the traditional Hyderabadi biryani and more like Pulao but got the taste. Chicken pakoda is poor in taste. I prefer if its with lesser batter and crispy.
Tandoori Chicken is again recommended.
Overall 3.5/5

Will revisit this review as and when I try more items.

Fantastic North indian food. We tried paneer curry with naan and that was awesome. Good vegetarian options and they do take car for veg food.

Horrible Customer Service! Rude Staff!. Called to order a catering service for 35 people on Oct 9. The staff on the phone was very rude and not being helpful. He was extremely impatient and at the end before the order was even finished, he hung up the phone! I personally won't ever go to this restaurant with such low quality of customer service. The management of the restaurant should really fire this person or at least sent him on probation. Unacceptable!

Really great. 11.95 lunch buffet has a tone of options. Cannot compare with other Toronto options but awesome on an absolute scale.
Sushi Is My Friend.
Fast service and delicious. Visited on a Friday night, party of 2. We only ordered 3 items and it was more than enough food. We had the vegetable pakoras, daal soup, and the meat combo. I'm not sure exactly what's in these dishes, but they all tasted good. The only thing I didn't like was that the meat combo come on several plates, and it took up the entire table. Luckily we had a table for 4 and we had the space to lay everything out. I typically don't like spicy food, but indian is one of the exceptions. It wasn't too busy on a Fri night, I would definitely come back again. Since there are other indian restaurants in the area, our friends recommended this one because he remembered the elephant on the sign. Service was really fast!
FoodieInTO
Great service and ok food. My friend and I went to Little India for lunch on a weekday and it was decent. The food for a small little place and for its price, was pretty darn good. It was a buffet for $15 with tax and tips included so you can't really complain about that! Since they are busy, the food is generally fresh, there's always something coming out from the kitchen. I have tried super authentic Indian food from Brampton/Mississauga and in comparison, this does not cut it for me. However, for its value, it was worthwhile. Would I come back? If I'm craving for Indian food and wanted something quick and cheap, yes otherwise, I will make my trip uptown for a nice authentic experience.

What a delight!. Food quality was exceptional. We are definitely going back. The four of us ordered the meat combo which consisted of tandoori chicken, lamb, chicken sausage and butter chicken. We all agreed that it was the best butter chicken and tandoori we'd ever tasted. Great atmosphere and great service. Our water glasses were never empty despite the place being full and were checked on several times by our very attentive waiter.

Can't wait to go back!. Best butter chicken in town. Fast service. Wonderful ambience. Great location.

Naan too bad!. I went here on a Saturday night with a large group of 9 people. We had made a reservation so that was set up for us upstairs. It was very crowed but it added to the atmosphere. We all ordered together so we could share. Initially I was going to order my own side of rice and naan but there would be no way that I could finish those huge servings without a little help from my friends! This was one of my first Indian food experiences and I loved the taste of the spices and meat! Vindaloo was my favorite because it was the spiciest! We also ordered a litre of wine which was yummy.

The service wasn't the best even though they were very nice people. They forgot additional orders of naan and one of my friend's dishes didn't arrive until we were almost done - this is understandable with a large group but still disappointing!
Beaskneas
Yum!. There's a whole bunch of Indian restaurant's vying for my attention in the vicinity of my work and this is now by far my favourite. Ate there on Friday for the first time and it's Monday and I want to go back. All the old favourites, plus a couple of new items (new to me). The meaty curries are not watered down, there's plenty of meat to be had. Delicious!
Ashley Maz
Great meal, service was a little slow
Doll
Pretty good. I pretty much liked everything. Just wished the butter chicken wasn't as sweet. For dessert I had the kheer and Gulab Jamun which I loved. Overall the service was great and of course the food was great. I highly recommend this little restaurant.

Will not be back. Had a decidely mediocre lamb rogan josh and the worst service ever! Got ignored for most of the 2 1/2 hours it took for the two of us to be served our meal...
Jenngemini
Good not Great...but they DELIVER!. I am here in Toronto on business and got stuck on conference calls with my west-coast team until 8 p.m. I found on their website there was delivery! This was one of those outfits that deliver from lots of restaurants, but for $7 it was totally worth it!! (Though the driver smelled like smoke so bad the plastic bag he delivered in did too!)

As for the food - the butter chicken was good - as everyone here said - but, I would argue it was so sweet that it reallly took away from the flavors. I tasted sweet more than the usual spiciness, richness, etc. It was really, really sweet. I also had the Palak Paneer (spinach) and it was a LOAD of spinach and not much paneer - not really a saucey spinach either, more like a spinach steamed with herbs and then paneer mixed in at the end. Usually it's got some sort of sauce. The naan does not travel well - I'd forgo it with delivery. The Raita was killer! Papadaams crispy and there was a little side of carrots in a tiny container. I forgot to order rice (shakes fist in air) but I had obviously had plenty to eat.

All in all, it was good not great - I'd eat there again, but with 417 other Indian places in the GTA, I'd probably try someplace else before I'd go back. That all said, I'd try it yourself to see if you agree, it was definitely not bad!
Angela
Probably the best Indian Restaurant in Toronto. Delicious, full of flavour, authentic, and fairly priced. DELISH!
Fenna
Best Indian food in Toronto. Delicious! Been here so many times. Any paneer dish is just so good that I can't even try anything new yet.

This restaurant is fantastic. Great guys who work there. They're so on top of the water refilling and this is easily the BEST butter chicken IN THE CITY!!!
Kenny
Dinner for one was awesome. They even let me substitute. Great meal ...great price.

My boyfriend and I went for dinner. There wAs a short 5 min wait as it was busy, then seated upstairs. We ordered the meat dinner for two and it was FAB! Naan was yummy and butter chicken divine but too much food so we happily packed remains for a late night snack. Food was 5 stars

Vegetarian options were unimpressive. I went to the Lunch buffet at this place. The selection of chutneys (Indian sauces) was very impressive, right from the tangy mango to the mint, dashed with green chillies. The range of pickles was interesting too.

I started off with the chickpea salad, which was nicely done, and some greens, moving on to the Veg Pakodas. These were crisp, and went along great with the chutneys.

However, the disappointing part was the main course, which was heavily tilted against vegetarians. Amongst the veggie dishes on offer, there was Aloo Broccoli and Zucchini Masala, both of which are traditionally not found in any Indian restaurant. The Dal was maybe the saving grace, which was a bit on the spicy side, but thats how I like my food, so no complaints there.

The dessert was nothing amazing. The Gulab Jamun was not as soft as it should be (it should melt in your mouth).

Overall, I would not recommend this to vegetarians, unless you are willing to eat something experimental in the name of Indian cuisine.

Service was warm and nice (plates removed when I got up, glass topped up with water). The server was explaining to me later that they do change their menu often, but the recent rise in prices of Indian ingredients has led them to choose in favour of certain local vegetables. Fair enough, I would say!

Really enjoyed it. Went because my girlfriend and I were in the area - we both really enjoyed it. Good service, great food, and very affordable.

LENTIL SOUP. LIKE: Buttered Chicken and Tandoori

SUPERLIKE: Lentil Soup. The soup is the best.. just enough spice..

DISLIKE: The place is small and hard to get food. I guess that's why it's Little India.. LOL

DISLIKE: POPPADOM is a bit lapsed and lost it's crispiness..

BEST Indian Food Ever!. My absolute favourite Indian food restaurant. I'll go completely out of my way just to end up at this specific place. The food is unbelievable and the service is great! Love the staff here. Chicken tikka, sooo good.
EatsWithStraws
Addictive Butter Chicken. Went there for the buffet and I couldn't get enough of their butter chicken w/ naan. I'd be okay if it were just butter chicken in the buffet but the the others were a good plus. The service was good and friendly. If I could go biweekly, I would.

Save yourself the hassle and order from Bombay Palace or Indian Hut. This was our fourth time ordering from Little India. Even though the vegetable pakora and the onion bahja are soaked in grease, and there is too little papadam and it always arrives broken up into little pieces - the entrees are so good that we overlook those shortcomings. We mainly choose to order from this restaurant however because the price is about $20 cheaper overall then the average Toronto restaurant. Unfortunately next time I'll be ordering from the pricier Bombay Palace or Indian Hut - these are places that are tried tested and true - plus you won't have to deal with the hassle of Little India's terrible customer service.
On a snowy night it took 2 hours for our food to arrive, which we understood. However, when it did we discovered that our chutney and pickles had been forgotten (but we had been charged). We called the restaurant right away, and I asked the man who answered if the driver could come back to deliver those items while he was still in the area. The man stuttered, said that the driver couldn't come back and that we had to call Justeat. I knew that the notion that it was Justeat's fault was ridiculous as the items were clearly on the bill. If I was in this man's shoes, I might have offered an unhappy repeat customer a credit. This man offered nothing. Since he didn't, I told him that we wanted what we paid for to be delivered, or we would be sharing our poor experience online. He said to go ahead if I wanted, because they were doing the best they could.
I'm assuming that this wasn't the restaurant owner I was speaking with, as this man didn't seem to know much about customer service or accountability. Too bad, as Little India will now be losing about 2 orders a month from this customer.
If this is Little India's "best" - well, perhaps some Customer Service training is in order... Or I suppose they'll lose the customers who don't appreciate their "best".
Spend the extra $20 and order from Bombay Palace or Indian Hut, and save yourself the hassle!!
Winnie
I LOVE this place. I just love it. period.
The food speaks for itself and the service is impeccable. you just have to try it for yourself!!
despite the low lunch buffet price, you won't feel neglected. The server remembers my boyfriend although he's from Vancouver and only visits Toronto 1-2 times per year! (he HAS to come here every time he visits Toronto tho)
I have since taken many friends of mine to the place and all of them loved it (including a girl who cannot eat spicy food at all) - even her, enjoyed their butter chicken and naan bread.
I hope they keep up with the good work!!

Good deal. I have had many a good lunch meal from the buffet at this place, it's reasonably priced for Toronto.
On the dinner menu I like the Prawns Masala, the Aloo Gobi and Sag Paneer served with Raita and Nan. It can get a little pricey but it's good.
The serving staff are friendly and quick.

Thumbs down. We just moved downtown from Scarborough where we are used to getting excellent Indian food for very reasonable prices. This is the first we have tried and were very disappointed. The butter chicken was way too sweet, a little sweetness is ok but it was so bad that I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The vindaloo was also sweet, and just not very good. The naan was tough and hard to chew.

What?. Butter chicken curry was WAY too sweet. By that I mean it tastes like they dumped an entire cup of sugar into my serving. It was sweeter than any curry I have ever tasted including intentionally sweet ones like thai pineapple curry.

Gross.

Good tasting food. Lots of spices so it is hard to evaluate whether it is healthy or not. Gave me serious diarrhea -- but my girlfriend and her family were unaffected so it was just me

One of the best in TO. Very decent indian food, and although I despise buffets normally, the lunch buffet at Little India is actually good. They have a good variety of food, fresh crispy naan - and they don't sabotage the food just for the reason that it's for a buffet.

The lunch buffet is available for take out too, and it's a nice option to have.

Very good indeed!. I ate here with some friends on my last visit to Toronto after a long day of walking through the city. We really wanted Indian food, and Urbanspoon's iPhone app landed us in this fantastic and very authentic restaurant. The food was great and plentiful. In fact, we had too much food and practically had to be rolled back to the hotel, all the while talking about how great our dinner was.

Best Indian food ever. Nice atmosphere, nice service, and awesome prices.

BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN T.O. I have been to five other Indian restaurants, and this one by far beats every one i have been to. The dishes are delicious (esp, butter chicken, tikka masala, paneer makani, saag chicken, naan bread, OMGoshH everything is just sOooo goood - just thinking of it makes my mouth water.

Every staff is very kind, and sweet.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in all of Toronto.
So warm and cozy atmosphere -

iIt is a MUST GO!!
Friends who were very hesitate (even picky eaters) about trying "Indian" for the first time, ended up loving it and kept asking when was the next time we would go.

I have never once experienced any trouble with food or service at this restaurant. :)

Buona Petite!

Best butter chicken!. We went one Sunday afternoon for the lunch buffet and I was very impressed by the quality and value of this little place.

Although the don't have a huge selection (about 4 meat curries, and 4 veggie curries + tandoori chicken + salad/dessert bar), everything was replenished regularly. The butter chicken is probably amongst one of the best I have ever had... silky and creamy without tasting greasy, the flavours just melt across your tongue.

$8.95 every day for lunch. Go!!!

Really like this place and will continue to point people here for lunch. Most of the food is very well-executed and you’d be hard-pressed to find better for the price. Read full review...

The butter chicken was served on a steel bowl. The sauce was pretty creamy with spicy and sweet taste to it which I adore. Some people found it too sweet but I like it. There was about 6 pieces of chicken in the bowl. I ate the entire thing including dipping all the sauce (can't let the yummy sauce go to waste!!). At the end, I was very satisfied and full. laughing

I liked how I can try variety of Indian dishes that I was too afraid to order off of a regular menu

Prior to going to Yuk Yuk's on a Wednesday evening, made a stop at Little India as I thought spice would help warm up the soul on a bitterly cold -29 degrees Celcius evening.

Little India was recommended by a friend, who believed they served the best Indian food in Toronto. We started with the vegetable pakoras, which were quite nice; but then couldn't decide what we wanted for our main. We finally decided on the meat platter for 2 which has a little bit of everything. First came the daily vegetables, then lamb (Rogan Josh), followed by butter chicken, and from the tandoori oven: chicken, shrimp, and sausage. I really enjoyed the lamb and the butter chicken, and disagree with the other reviewer that the butter chicken was too sweet. I found the sauce to be the right richness and very smooth; and the chicken pieces tender. Also ordered both the regular naan and garlic naan; but personal preference is the garlic version

The portions are huge! Don't be deceived by the little bowl of butter chicken or lamb with sauce. I would consider myself a big eater and came into Little India starving, yet still unable to finish.

Great service with great food to match. Would be coming back when I'm in the area.

I'm just reviewing the lunch buffet cause I've never tried the dinner menu or the normal one (which is available online). If you are looking for a moderately priced buffet (around 13$ taxes included), good quality food (creamy, not too spicy, authentic) and a great variety of food, then Little India is the place for you. The service is impeccable as well.
