The restaurant was amazing. It was recommended by the concierge at the hotel. We chose off the Winterlicious menu and were not disappointed. The French onion soup was incredible. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth. The dessert was to die for. We were served by Andres and he was so attentive and outgoing and so on and so on....
For summerlicious this year I only made it out to one restaurant, partly due to scheduling and partly due to budgeting (we bought a house! Future dedicated post to come!). Looking through the list of restaurants priced at $28 or $38 for dinner, the one menu that jumped out was Biff’s, which also met the criteria of being located downtown and a new spot for me. I have friends who visit weekly for their $1 after 5pm oyster deal and generally all had positive thoughts about the French Bistro.
My Summerlicious at Biff's was a success! We sat on the patio and started our meal with some of the featured drinks. I recommend the Strawberry Basil Cosmo. For my appetizer, I had the chicken pastries with harissa yogurt dip and sumac. I would have liked one more pastry, but nice flavours...so far so good!
My main dish was the Northern Woods Mushroom Dauphinoise garnished with arugula, caramelized onions and goat cheese cream. This was delicious! Dessert was another hit - Camembert En Croute with thyme honey butter and raspberries. As I enjoy savoury flavours instead of sweet, it was the perfect finish. I had a bite of Chocolate Cake and it was too rich, as agreed by my dining partners who actually have a sweet tooth (they couldn't finish their slices). I also tasted the Roasted Parsnip Sabayon...VERY interesting flavour and not unpleasant either! If you usually shy away from sweets, this is another good option. Overall, everyone at my table enjoyed their dishes. Summerlicious success!
