Review Little Anthony's - Toronto

Joanna Sable
Little Anthony's has the highest quality ingredients all wrapped up with Italian love. The service is beyond impeccable and the food classic with surprising little twists. House make ricotta to slather on warm crusty bread is sure to please as are any of the really cool pasta dishes. Fish is treated with respect and that always makes me happy. Save room for dessert. The list is short and perfect.

Thank you for making our dinner so special for our anniversary! One of the guys who worked there (not sure if owner) seemed like a very happy fella. It's always nice to see someone singing/dancing and serving you with a positive attitude! Both the food and atmosphere was great, but the waiter made the experience stand out from all the other restaurants around! <3

Higher end Italian restaurant, we were here for a Christmas lunch, enjoyed the Burrata, the main Veal Marsala and finished with the chocolate mousse. All done to perfection. Great spot, good service and atmosphere. It you don't mind spending a little more, we reccomend. Enjoy, bon appetito.

Great for a lunch, a dinner or a business meeting! Great service - always friendly. Good food. The menu doesn’t have a lot of options, but they are good. What I love the most about this place that it is quite. It is so rare in Toronto that you can find a place where you talk, not scream to each other.

First... We were sat in a window seat, so it was a great start to the night. :) The lighting and decor, were beautiful, warm and inviting. I love the burnt orange upholstery! The service was so great! Lindsay, was attentive and helpful. They have a great selection, both by the glass and bottle. Make sure to try the Bacon Wrapped Dates, Garganelli, and Ricotta Fritters. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!!!

Exceptional service. Very professional waiters. Very nice selection of food at reasonable prices that was prepared quickly

Bacon wrapped dates! Best Chicken Parm I've ever had. Chocolate gelato made it the perfect meal.

We arrived at the restaurant, a few minutes late for our reservation, and were seated at a private table. Our exceptional server Michael, anticipated our every wish, and was very kind to our Aunt, who needed some assistance, and had her walker with her. The food was absolutely incredible, so good that we ordered additional food to go! The wine list and desert choices exceeded our expectations. Perfectly located across from the Ballet and Opera, with a prix fixe theatre menu. We will be back with more friends. Thank you for making our special occasion extra fabulous!

Had the most wonderful visit on Saturday evening. Our waiter was incredible and the food was delicious! Was an awesome treat! I had the chef's special which was a delicious veal dish and my partner had an amazing steak!! The atmosphere was very cozy and in a great location. We came in around 9 pm and the service was wonderful. You must try the tiramisu!!

We had our intimate wedding reception there and we couldn't of been more happy. The staff, the food, everything was just amazing and they went above and beyond making our day special. Thank you to all the staff at Little Anthony's for allowing us to have such a memorable dinner with our closest family and friends!

Great welcome and Linzee looked after us exceptionally with two small kids. Wine was reasonably priced, however mofifying al la cartel menu cost for additional meatballs cost us more than another meal. Probably our naivety Definitely recommend

Fantastic lunch! Spaghetti carbonara was delicious and service was impeccable as always. Highly recommend this place.

The service at Little Anthony's is top notch and extremely welcoming. From the moment you walk in the doors it feels like they've been eagerly awaiting you. The rest of the experience doesn't fall short either. The food is flavourful and generously portioned. I had the Bacon wrapped dates as a starter snack, and omg. I'd return just for those. The pasta options are perfect comfort food for the winter months, I had the carbonara and my friend had the chicken parm. We ended up sharing because they were both so good. Even the cocktails are prepared to perfection. To finish, I had to go with the classic tiramisu, and they knock it out of the park. Honestly, can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu!

I ate at Little Anthony's for Winterlicious lunch today. Although the main course and dessert were really delicious, I was very disappointed by HOW LONG it took for our food to arrive at our table. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are on a lunch break. There won't be enough time for you to really enjoy your meal.

Awesome restaurant !! Great food and exceptional service .... highly recommend this place. Right across the street from Toronto Sheraton.

The service was great! We had limited time & that was no pressure here. Fantastic food & great service. I have been searching for a great Italian restaurant to replace my old fave that closed. I will be coming back again and again!

(Explanation in case anyone is unfamiliar - Winterlicious is a prix fixe dining event that happens in Toronto every Jan/Feb. Three courses for a set price and a chance to dine at restaurants that might typically be out of range, unavailable, etc.)

Since I booked for Winterlicious I wasn't expecting the most dedicated of service but was looking forward to the meal... I know how busy it can get but I certainly wasn't expecting the worst lunch experience I've ever had.

- wait times for each course was long, usually long... an hour after our arrival we'd only had the appetizer and the waitress had apologized for the wait twice

- when the entree (risotto) finally arrived, it was soupy looking, flavourless and under-cooked (the rice was hard/raw) - obviously rushed and not ready for serving

- the manager came over to apologize for the delay as well and we explained the issue with the food - he was extremely apologetic which was appreciated; he also offered to bring replacement entrees but at that point we'd been away from work for almost an hour and a half and explained that we really needed to go so we requested that the desserts be wrapped and we get the bill as soon as possible; he still took a number of minutes to repeat his offer of alternate entrees a couple more times which was honestly more annoying than helpful as we stated how urgently we needed to leave and just didn't feel they could get anything on the table quickly enought to make up for the time we'd already wasted

- they had an issue with packing one of the desserts so a further delay while they came out to offer alternatives (and the only "packable" option they had meant my colleague had to take a dessert she doesn't even eat)

- the manager delivered the desserts packed to go, told us again how sorry he was, said our "food items would be comped", invited us to come back again and then presented a bill for the desserts and drinks

My problems with this:

1. I think the entire meal should have been comped, maybe even the entire bill. And had we known we'd been paying for the desserts as separate items we probably would have skipped them too.

2. When I agreed to try them again, the manager made no offer to book our return visit, or offer his name/card to call later to re-book, or presented any kind of voucher, etc. to use for our return visit which means we would just be making a reservation like anyone else (hard to do during Winterlicious). How is that going to guarantee a good visit the next time? Because of his lack of follow-through, it made the whole offer seem insincere.

Sorry Little Anthony's but you were a big disappointment.

PS: the tiramisu was excessively wet

I been here for numerous meetings. Service is good but atmosphere and food boring. Go for lunch if you have to that way you can people watch since it has a lot of windows.

I was really looking forward to this lunch. Had walked passed the place the other day and it looked very nice. Then did some research on the internet to see what people were saying about the food. The staff are very friendly and tentative. I started with the Antipasto board. A nice selection of meat and horderves. Especially enjoyed the prosciutto which had a nice aged flavour but not the strong smell you get with some types. The wine selection was good. Moving on to the main event I ordered the Linguine Vongole. I've made this myself many times and wanted to see how they constructed theirs. The first bite of pasta was a warming lovely feeling in my mouth. Then next is were it went down hill. They give you one little neck clam in the shell and the rest are already deshelled. They seem to taste like they came from a tub of preshelled clams. Worst part is they were over cooked. I'm not sure if the chef realized that the deshelled ones would cook faster then the shelled one or if that's just how bucked clams turn out but they were very chewy and not pleasent at all to eat. If that wasn't bad enough then came the part that turned me off the whole dish. A large mouth full of small shell peices and dirt is what it seemed. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back but it seems troubling that they would cut corners on such a lovely true Italian dish where else do they cut corners to save money...
The Big Eat Ontario
At the corner of Richmond St., and York St., directly across from the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, is Little Anthony’s, a small Italian kitchen and bar which has cemented themselves as a staple within the Toronto theater scene. The bright, clean, and simple orange décor helps solidify the notion that Little Anthony’s is the place to be before a show, and with an outstanding feast for $35 through a partnership with the National Ballet, it won’t be easy to eat anywhere else.

Starting as Anthony’s 19 years ago, and moving to a smaller space two years later (where “Little” stems from), this sleek Italian eatery has been bringing a modern take on Italian food to the city, which is difficult to come by in the downtown core.

The idea here is simple, they make fresh food using local ingredients and change in accordance with the seasons. Yet such a simple idea has brought forth exceptional eats.

During our visit we met with executive chef Garth, who has been whipping up inspired dishes for Little Anthony’s for the past two years. He even brought with him three delicious recipes all unique to the standard Italian you may find at Nonna’s. Our early dinner started with a simple caprese salad. Heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and seasoning brought this beyond anything we have made at home, and the green tomato provided a great crunch, adding the perfect texture to this dish.

The shrimp scampi ($16.50) was sampled next. This luxurious dish was created with a buttery white wine sauce different than you may find in the south. It was served with a fresh arugula salad that helped to cut through the richness of the butter, offering a great balance of flavours. What truly set this dish apart from the rest was the gremolata crumb topping the shrimp; the perfect texture.

Tagliatelle alla Bolognese ($19.75) is what followed next. Masterfully created with veal, pork, beef, veal stock, tomato, and a Northern Italian spice blend of cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon really brought this dish to a new level. The spices really brought forth one of those “I-can’t-put-my-finger-on-what-is-in-here-but-I-love-it” moments. We truly have not had a Bolognese which has ever matched this one for sheer vivid flavour.

Mony, the night bartender, treated us to an unnamed cocktail which was created using muddled strawberry, cucumber, basil, lemon juice, and orange syrup, finished off with limoncello, and vodko over ice. We suggest you stop by to check out this summertime drink while admiring the paintings, also created by Mony, which are displayed at Little Anthony’s.

If delicious eats, mouthwatering cocktails and modern decor is what you’re in the mood for, look no further and reserve your table at Little Anthony’s tonight.

Antoniou’s belief is that Italian food is meant to be simple and tasty. Each dish was served to each table family style, as Italian food should be. Each table got just enough food to feed all its occupants.

I haven't been to eat at this place. I have a very picky eater in my party. I tried to view their menu on Urbanspoon AND on their website. It gives me a traveling blog. I'll have to find somewhere else to eat.

Pre theater dinner. We had a lovely early dinner here on a week night before catching a ballet at the Four Season's Centre. My calamari appetizer was delicious and my salmon entree was well prepared. My husband had a nice caesar salad and the special fish of the day, sea bass prepared simply with olive oil and garlic.
The renovations that have been done to the place are also very nice, lots of natural light and spacious seating.

I would go back. Excellent food and attentive service. We ordered salted cod on crostini, eggplant and caponata on crostini - all excellent. As a main we ordered sea scallops and veal chop - also top rate. All in all a 5-star night

A delicious and pleasant surprise. Last night we decided to try this restaurante and we were very pleases with everything. The service was excellent. The night special was beef tenderloin or veal chops. We started with an amazing plate of antipasto (the ricotta cheese with honey was fantastic). We ordered the veal chops. It was huge, perfectly seared and cooked to perfection, no need for extra salt or pepper. So tasty! The chops were served on top of a simple tomato and cucumber salad tossed with pesto and it was a nice refreshing flavor. We also ordered the roasted pumpkin risotto to share. The risotto was delicious, toped with a cream made with brown butter and parmesan cheese. We ordered a bottle of a Pinot Noir (California), a perfect choice. No great choices for desert, so we skipped it. The espresso coffee was perfect. The restaurant is very comfortable and it looks great! They did a nice renovation. We will definitely return. It was a delightful experience on June 1st, 2012.

Great restaurant in Toronto!. I've only been to this restaurant once (as I am from Montreal) and have only great things to say about the place. Classic Italian food at a very modest price!

Best Pasta. The food here is one of a kind and very very good. I had the ceaser salad and the squash stuffed ravioli. both were amazing and fresh and the service here is wonderful. A little pricey but perfect for a fancy night out.

Skip it!. My wife & I ate here on 8/13/11 on the recomendation of the Hilton Hotel concierge. Simply put, beautiful restaurant, good service but terrible food. Our calamari appetizer was rubberized and tough. Our entrees, a seafood pasta in an ariabiata sauce was bland and the salmon, shrimp, and scallops were all tough, dry and over cooked. The veal saltimboca tasted like burnt charcoal. It was so overdone, the mozzarella had completely melted and ran out of the dish leaving a charred piece of veal. We sent back the veal and received a new serving that was equally as bad as the 1st. They comped the veal and offered a free tiramisu, which was by far the best part of the entire meal.

Totonto has many other wonderful restaurants to choose from....i would choose most any other place over Little Anthony's.

What a disaster. My husband and I had dinner at Little Anthony's this past Saturday night Nov. 27/10. Thank god the food was tasty because the portions were miniscule at best. It was WAY over priced for what you got and the waiter rushed us. We could not sit and enjoy our wine or any of the meal as he wanted to get us out to get the next diners in. If I want fast food and that kind of treatment I'll go to McDonald's. I will not be back.

Very pricey! very tastey!. I thought it would be 10-15 per person but it was more than 25 per person. The nights specials were 33 and 35 dollars. The waiters were snooty and a little rude and our drinks were never refilled. The food however was amazing. The tortellini was great and the smoked chicken was tender and unbelievable.

The prices are a little expensive but it's worth it. The food was perfect and tasted more authentic than any other italian restaurant. Unfortunately I didn't eat at the restaurant, but it is conveniently located across the street from The Sheraton.

Expensive. Good service, great salad, risotto was small portion. Wine was overpriced OK, but not good VFM

This was a wonderful dining experience. Authentic Italian food with an elegant atmosphere. The food was delicious served hot to the table, great selection of wines, pleasant staff, amazing Tiramisu! we were pleasantly suprised by an opera singing staff member wishing a patron happy birthday.

While his food is Italian at heart it was nice to see a few creative combinations inspired by his tenure in Thailand. We all had a delightful meal, chit chatting about our summers and hopes and dreams for the fall and winter. The cheese centric menu offerings made me smile as I furiously peddled all the way home.

Little Anthony’s ( @little_anthonys ) is a neighbourhood Italian restaurant overhauled by owner, Andreas Antoniou. Conveniently located in the heart of the financial district, Little Anthony serves classic and simple dishes with a menu set up ideally for power-lunching, with a selection of their dinner favourites available in lunch-friendly portions. The original Little Anthony’s, founded by Bob Antoniou, was a downtown landmark for more than 17 years. After 3 months of renovation, this venue re-opened in April 2012 with a fresh new flavour and atmosphere. This restaurant seats 150 people in their main dining while offering 2 private rooms that seats 42. I was fortunate enough to attend their media dinner previewing a few days ago. The evening featured a menu created by new executive chef Garth Legree and included selections from Matt Roulston’s well-curated wine list. Signature Cocktail: “Milano Sunrise” Chee s e Tortellini Scarmoza, Saffron Bechamel, Watercress, Breadcrumb Bacon W

A Cabernet was paired with the ravioli to gently contrast its sweet nutty flavour. Due to its sweet nature, this dish is definitely one to shar

I met friends for supper tonight at Little Anthony's. I'd never been there before. We were given some bread and oil to start ... it was good. I ordered Rigatoni Arrabiata (spicy tomato sauce, smoked bacon, garlic, basil). It was okay. It wasn't spicy at all and I didn't notice the bacon. Some of the noodles weren't quite cooked. I thought $17.50 was a lot to pay for it.
