Review Ariake Japanese Restaurant - Thornhill

Never judge a book by its cover! Food was fresh, and very nice staff. I only removed a star its because in total, the food was overpriced. But was worth the try! I can guarantee Ariake is the best sushi restaurant in this neighborhood.

I love this place! I find myself coming back with people very often. Never even knew it was in this plaza and I’m super grateful to have been introduced to it by a friend. The quality of sushi is fresh and never disappoints.

Unpretentious family-run business with better quality sushi than most in the neighbourhood. Their forte is a consistently great, basic sushi menu which is well prepared and delicious tasting. If your preference is for great variety in the types of sushi or perhaps all-you-can-eat, you might prefer to look elsewhere. I enjoy Ariake Sushi and will keep coming back.

One of the best sushis in my life I got Salmon Mountain Roll and it was second to none. I definitely recommend this place as the staff are really kind and considerate. The sushi was absolutely fresh and the portions were more than enough.

Went here and it’s a small and cute place! The service was quick and the lady was really kind. I had no issues with my meal. I came for lunch and thought the prices were pretty good and fair. Tofu teriyaki: loved the tofu! The onions and cabbage underneath were the perfect texture not too salty. The yam sushi was still crunchy from the tempura and the texture of the rice was great! Chicken teriyaki: I didn’t eat this one but I had some of the sashimi. They were thick pieces and really nice!

One roll per person is enough to get full, even at dinnertime. The rolls are huge with a great rice to filling ratio. And such variety! Big lunch specials. Great miso soup. My go-to a la carte sushi spot!

I have been going to this place for years and can’t believe I’ve never left a review… to start they have THE. BEST. TEMPURA. The batter is super light and crispy! My favourite roll is the salmon tempura roll and if you dine in you can expect the freshly prepared salmon to still be warm. Same people have O/O since the beginning and they have perfected every aspect of their menu. Whenever I’m in town I stop in for the best sushi around!

I usually do not write reviews but this sushi was horrible. The sushi presentation is not even close to the description. Expensive for the low quality. It was a lot of veggies and no fish at all. I guess all the reviews below are fake. Do not waste your time and save your money.

We eat there all the time. Great sushi. Always fresh. Their bento box is good too. Their special rolls are fantastic and the quality is always consistent. <br/>

Horrible. I've ordered a large party tray over the phone. It was the most horrible and overpriced sushi I ever had. The fish was not fresh, especially tuna - at lest I guess it was tuna - it really looked like dry-cured ham to me. The ginger was inedible, the inside-out vegetarian rolls fell apart, I could not find even one piece that tasted ok. Stay away.

Always empty, terrible food. Probably because they tried to rip other people off like they did me. They gave me an alternate menu with higher prices, and didn't offer to change the price when I found out. Don't bother going.

Delicious! & Well Priced. Had the Sushi "love boat" - fantastic fish and great value. ($30 for 12 sushi, 18 sashimi, & 1 roll) - very plentiful (fed two). owner operated, Great place.
