Review Jin Soo Sung Chan Korean - Surrey

Nice cozy restaurant but the meat wasn’t as good as expected. The soup was great though, it was flavourful and spicy. We had the spicy pork backbone hot pot set for two. The quantity was definitely a lot for two. The side dishes were good.

The pork hot pot (serving size for 2 people) was large enough to fully feed 3 people. We also ordered 1 order of the BBQ SObulgogi, since it was only 1 order they said they will cook it in the kitchen instead of us cooking it at our table- this kind of took away from the Korean BBQ experience. For the price of 1 order of the BBQ, I expected a larger serving of the meat- they added a lot of mixed veggies to the meat to make it look like a larger portion. The BBQ taste was yummy enough though. Not sure if I would come back.

Awesome place to get your Korean bbq craving satisfied! Ordered a couple pork set. High Quality of the meat given! With delicious green salad! Definitely will return for more items on the menu.

Came on a weekend for a Korean BBQ combo for two. Spacious restaurant with friendly and efficient staff, they were quick to attend to all my requests. Place was very busy! They must be doing something right. Food was delicious, although meat portions on the smaller side.

This restaurant is one of the best Korean BBQ that we go to. Ordered the LOVE Combo, portion was enough and filling. Great customer service!

I loveeeee this place! The food is amazing. Customer service is superb and the price is very reasonable also! We had the chicken and beef meats for our bbq, both spicy and regular bbq flavour - it was delicious! Their japchae is my all time favourite. The bunchun's and soup they serve with the bbq are all really tasty also. No complaints on my end. Would highly recommend to come try them!

We ordered a large portion of their fried chicken (extra spicy). Since we taking out, we also got a 10% discount. I expected it to a tear jerking level of spicy since the cashier asked us multiple times if we’re absolutely sure we could handle that level of spice. 😁 Though the chilli level was disappointing, the chicken itself was crispy and tasted great (slightly on the sweet side though). I will certainly return.

The food here is excellent, and the staff were amazing and friendly. They even had a robot to help assist serve the food which was pretty neat. Very authentic, I have been to Korea and I can testify that this is what you would get in Busan.

Been here a hand full of times and never had any problems with foodnor service. Great family run place and always accommodating with requests.

I seriously love this place. I think the people complaining are just complainers because the food here has always been excellent, love that the menu shows exactly what you're getting and that they have a service bell at every table so you aren't bothered until you want to be. My favorite part is the service is incredible. Every single time they are smiling so big and they are the kindest, friendliest wait staff I've experienced.

The service was good but the food wasn't great at all.

Yummy foodies! Great Service! Highly recommended.

Service was bad. No one was saying the buzzer was not working. Had to call the servers personally to attend.

This is the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. I asked for a seat in the front when the restaurant was empty and waiter asked me several times why. I told him my 5 year old son is afraid of the back section and the waiter appeared to keep challenging me asking me why. I finally informed him he didn't need to know why my son was afraid of the back section and kept getting challenged on it, so I asked for the manager. The manager was even more useless and just stood there allowing his employee to verbally harass me and scare my 5 year old son while we literally went back and forth like this. "Is this how you treat you customers? "Oh you think b/c you're a customer you're better than me? "Excuse me? Look at your attitude and how you're treating your customer. "Look at your attitude." We went back and forth like this for 10 minutes. But as soon as my elderly parents walked in, the fake humble attitude began. They treated me horribly as a human b/c I'm a woman and they scared my 5 year old son. He's never seen anyone yell at me before and now he's even more terrified to go there (which we never will). The manager there didn't do anything, he allowed his staff to verbally abuse me and didn't do his job and admitted he didn't know how to do his job. Is this an establishment you want to support? I already have a lot of people vowing to never to go this establishment again. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER AND MANAGEMENT EVER!!!!!!!!!!! If i could post a zero for their rating I would, please note it's a big fat ZERO!!!

The food service was amazingly fast. The servers were polite and happy. <br/><br/>Price was reasonable. <br/><br/>We had the B combo and it fed two adults. It was like the combo A but had an extra plate seafood. <br/><br/><br/><br/>

UPDATE: They no longer sell Korean-Chinese type noodle soups, so no more spicy seafood noodle or black bean noodles ;(<br/><br/> Really  liked this place especially that they have lunch specials (choose a soup dish and a BBQ meat). However their noodles have been somewhat hit or miss as of late. They use hand-pulled noodles which is pretty rare, but nowadays they're a bit to firm instead of al-dente. The soup of the Jjampong (spicy seafood noodle) tastes great on good days, a lot of seafood flavour compared to some other places, but the last time I went it was somewhat bland as if the noodle flour's flavour ended up in the soup.

Good service and set up. We did bbq. I especially liked the soup served with the ban chan. The portions do feel bit smaller compared to my last KBBQ experience.

The food tasted great and had really good service, but I've gotten food poisoning I don't know if it's because The Meat wasn't really cooked properly or what. but other than that not bad.

Everything was good: food, services, price is reasonable. My friend and I had the traditional Korean course set B, the portion was big for 2 people, $28/ person.

We tried the octopus and beef hotpot and we liked it. Large servings. Delicious meals, great ambiance. Black bean noodle is also good. Wide range of menu. A bit pricey but it's worth it. Best to eat in groups

As a Korean BBQ virgin, this spot was definitely the right place to start. The meats were well marinated and the rice rich in flavour. The host and waitress were very nice in helping us with the grill and replacing it every 5 minutes or so to make sure our meats can be cooked evenly. While the meats were very good, their seafood selection is minimal and average at best. I would give this place a 4.5 but the price for the BBQ platters are quite steep. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and would most definitely return again.

We used to go to Insadong a lot but this place is our favourite Korean restaurant now. The food is delicious and the place is very clean and the service is good.

Really enjoyed everything about this place! The decor of little Korean people with big mouths were awesome, and the variety of different meats was great. Good place to come with a big group of people and getting the combos since they have a variety of meat but is quite expensive. Meat tasted really good and was just so tasty. Cooking the meat is always a fun experience as well. I also really enjoyed the Iron pot steamed rice with vegetables. Only downside was that I got a bit of stomach ache from eating so much meat and sauce that had a lot of sodium in it, but it went away after 10-20 minutes. Definitely want to come back here for another feast.

Tucked behind Guildford beside ICBC. Place is clean and spacious. Staff are friendly. Prices are reasonable. Food is good.

Best Korean I've had in a long time. Once upon a time there was a nameless restuarant along North Road that served the traditional 7-10 course Korean feast in a private Tatami booth. I mut admit, I've been chasing that experience for a long time now. When I came accross this place (literally by accident), I had to give it a try. While it certainly doesn't provide the same experience that I once had, it does a good job of the multiple course meal. You could tell that all the dishes (including pickles) were made in-house and there are some real complexities of flavour here.<br/><br/>If anyone knows of other restaurants serving the traditional multi-course Korean Meal, plaese let me know.<br/><br/>Thanks!

Enjoyed the BBQ combo A. Plenty of food for 2 people. 6 side dishes were good as well. Service was fast. Reasonably priced as well. Also, the restaurant was looked clean and tidy.

Bad service, average foods overall. I used to come here regularly with my family and friends. good lunch menu. The owner, old man, is rude, servers learn from him. people don't want to see no expression face with cold attitude from the server at the restaurant. foods healing people and often servers ruin it. people like that should not work in the food industry.

Good food, good service, good price. Went there 3 times in the last week. I like it quite a bit.<br/><br/>Food was tasty. I loved the bibimbap (sizzling stone pot). Also tried a few other dishes. Quantity is decent.<br/><br/>Service was prompt. They don't bother you when you are eating and talking, but they will be there right away when you ring the bell for service.<br/><br/>The first time I ate there, I ran into one of my Korean friends and she told me this one was one of the most authentic in Surrey.<br/><br/>I am a little surprised for the three dollar signs. I think it should be a two dollar sign place. The price of this place is pretty good compared to the many other Korean places I visited. <br/><br/>I will keep going.

The first thing you notice when you walk in to this rather hard to find spot is that there are no Westerners in here! Perfect, means the Korean food is good! The ingredients are top quality, the taste fragrant and spicy, the beer a good price and cold! Oh and for those of you who don't know about this you simply summon them for service with the buzzer and they respond promptly! Try thy Spicy Pork with Red Rice and the Spicy Seafood Tofu soup if you really wanna light those taste buds on fire! A little gem in Surrey!

Food was good, not enough for the price, but good. <br/>Service and server attitude has gone sour after 2-3 visits.<br/>There were 2 & 3 people combos, but no 4? Even though most table seats 4?<br/><br/>First visit 9/10, last visit 6/10.
Leeandrew0123
To people complaining about slow service. There is a bell on the table (not sure if it's on every single table). When you need a server, just press the bell. Lots of Korean restaurants have these bells.<br/><br/>Had Gopchang Jeongol. It was OK (6.5/10). But the broth (soup) tasted like instant noodle (ramen) soup.

My favorite place in surrey! I think its the best korean place I have been so far. Food here is excellent, service is also awesome. If you like korean food, should give a try!

Bad. Very Bad.. I don't know about foreigners but more and more Koreans seem to be avoiding this place.<br/>Sometimes, it's decent but others times the food was disgusting.<br/>We had a course (?) menu that cost about $20 I think..and the Sweet Spicy Fried Chicken was almost dark brown. The meat smelled. The fish was tiny and the food tasted bad overall.<br/>I don't like K-Town either but that place is better than this.<br/>Maybe I'll give it a try next time. It was decent the first time I went but the second try was disgusting.

Great joint in Surrey. Service was extremely attentive. Didn't have to ask for more banchan. The server came and replaced them. Food tasted great! Ordered Gam Ja Tang. Soup had depth but wasn't dripping in pork grease. Served mini soft ice cream as complementary dessert. Nice touch.

Extremely long service to the extent it's ridiculous. Waited well over 30 mins for a table when 3 were empty of people but still covered in food. Not a single person working paid attention to the front desk. Two groups came and left because no one was there to take care of them. We watched tables open up and still no one came to clean it up or check up on us.

First time eating Korean. My very first foray into Korean cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter has been enjoying Korean food for years, but I've always been leery, since all I knew about it was kimchee, which I've had, and disliked very much.<br/><br/>We ordered the Course "A" for 16.95/person so that I could get a well-rounded taste of several items. I loved the bulgogi, fluffy onion/seafood pancake, house salad, and I even very much enjoyed the beef sashimi!<br/><br/>The little side dishes were nice, and I enjoyed most of them (except the kimchee, of course).<br/><br/>I enjoyed the food and would probably return, but I know there's a lot of other Korean restaurants in the area, and we might shop around. My kiddo, the Korean expert, said it was good, but not "the best". For me, it was a great first experience!

Service is HORRIBLE!!!. I had lunch with my family and this was my second time coming here - first time was pretty good. So i came back again but this time..food was pretty good overall BUT service was horrible..horrible..there were THREE servers but<br/>not even one server comes to table or takes empty plates away. They werent paying attention to our table. THEY NEVER SMILED BACK ON US which shows they dont care about the customers lol I will never go back to this place! EVER!!
