Had dinner with a friend at Sushi Well last week. Used to be called 'Okonomi'. It's located right across Gateway station tower on 108th Avenue by 135th Street (Whalley area). Tried the 'monster bite roll', one of their special rolls that consists of 2 piece prawn tempura, avocado, crispy salad in a roll with smoked salmon, and tiger prawn on top. Very yummy. I forgot to take pics, was enjoying each bite! Their salmon stick appetizer was good too. It's my 1st time checking out this hole in the wall sushi place, but will definitely come back again. Their staff were very friendly, and kept checking how things were and refilling our tea and water too.
I always get a take out of their 'crispy & crunch roll' and I have to say, I haven't been disappointed once. The food and service is great! I just realized that I've been getting takeout even before they technically open at 11:30. I guess I've always assumed they were because their doors are open but they've never said anything and have made my food, I feel terrible now that I think about it haha. TL;DR - they're awesome!
I started going here with my friends, after my favorite sushi restaurant Yokohama got new owners that sunk it into bankruptcy and closed. The menu is a reasonable size, the prices are really good for the quality of food. I absolutely love the pink rice. It has its own pleasant taste, a tad sweet. They make it really fresh, nothing tastes old or frozen. Customer service is warm and welcoming. And for the location, right next to the Gateway Station, I'd say one of the best priced, great sushi places in the area.It is now one of my most favorite sushi places to eat in or out of. I would highly recommend this for any surrey sushi lovers.
