Review Aomori Sushi - Surrey

I have been going to this place for many years, it was recommended by my friend and I have never regretted it. Staff are super polite and friendly, food is served in a timely order and the food is so delicious, and very reasonably priced, I love supporting local family owned restaurants.

I was taken here by a friend for my birthday and even though it is Korean owned the sushi is very well prepared and the food excellent. They seem to specialize in maki rolls but their sashimi and nigiri Sushi is excellent and very well prepared, the staff are very friendly and very focused on customer service and quality everything was excellent the only problem is that we ordered way too much (even though they did warn us!) regardless nothing like a next day Sushi snack! The place is small but comfortable and cozy a great place to bring you family or even a first date you won’t be disappointed!

Great local sushi. The food is delicious and fresh, especially at such price! The staff are friendly and welcoming. I will definitely come back again.

I just had this last night and woke up sick. The sushi was not good quaility at all. Looked like the fish was slapped on top of the sushi and sitting there for hours. Do NOT recommend.

Such wonderful people here with great prices on really yummy sushi. I normally get their assorted sushi and dynamite roll. They have a reward program so you can work towards free sushi! Will be back, thank you!

I had gone in on Sunday for lunch as I was craving sushi but my boyfriend had brought in food from outdoors. Since the place was deserted I assumed it would have been fine that he ate his own food and I could order and eat my lunch there. But the waitress came by and told us that there is no outdoor food even though there is no sign saying that, she said that she would let it go this time and we said thank you. It was clear they didn’t want us there, even though we were the only customers, so I just ordered one roll and planned to get out of there quickly and go somewhere else instead. But, then the chef came to our table and told us that we should have ordered more food and that it wasn’t worth his time for $6. He told us that next time we should order more food, the situation was very uncomfortable and I wanted to leave immediately. I would have understood if it was busy but this was very rude. On top of that the sushi was overpriced, $6 for an avocado and cream cheese roll.

Great place. Must visit. Been a few times and tried different sushi dishes. End up craving after a couple days. And very friendly staff. Even the chef went the extra mile for us.

The service is really friendly. I used to be here daily due to me being able to afford buying food. Not because of the restaurants prices but if I could afford to go to this place very often. I would. The sushi quality is above decent. Sometimes they do great and sometimes not as much to make up for the food. But they are a great restaurant and I love going here. The reason why I think the sushi is great here is because I've tasted the quality, the hardwork, the taste and texture. You're free to have an opinion on me but this is my opinion. I woild go to this restaurant often if I can.

The service is very friendly and accommodating but everything else was bad to awful. The chicken katsu was burned and inedible. The teriyakibeef was bland and chewy. The sushi felt old and dry. The tempura was actually decent but not enough to redeem everything else. They were very apologetic and nice about everything so hopefully the food is usually better.

I love sushi and this place is probably one of the best places to get it in the area! Very good quality and delicious, and about average prices.

My family and I get food from here at least once a month and we're never disappointed. The various combos are especially well worth the price!

Dinner was great at Aomori tonight! First time here after hearing so much about it. <br/>We had the unagi roll, salmon Maki roll, rainbow roll, seaweed salad, chicken Don and they gave us a couple cute little spring rolls on the house! Everything was delicious! Fresh raw fish, great portions! We were seated in a cute little booth! There are curtains if more privacy is needed. Beautiful cherry blossom paintings on the wall. Service was awesome! Hot tea was constantly refilled without asking which was perfect for today's cold weather! Pricing are super reasonable! Dinner came up to $32 for 2! Only one little complaint, the lighting was weird?.... Hence the pictures turned out the way they did. The whole restaurant had the dim red light going on and to be honest it gave us some sort of headache. I prefer proper lighting to see the menu and my food and of course to take good food pictures! But I think that's the look they were going for. However we will definitely be back again if we're around the area.

There are a couple sushi places in Newton but this one is the best one so far. The rice isn't mushy at all, unlike some places. The lady who works there is also very kind to my friends and I. Aomori is my go-to place whenever I want sushi afterschool 👌

This place is always delicious and has really great service. I've been coming here for a while now since they've opened and the food is always consistent. Definitely one of my go to places for sushi.

Love this place. Hidden gem in Surrey. Hands down best place for sushi in town. The interior might be a little shabby but if you don't care much for ambience then this the right place. I would recommend softening the pop music playing. Otherwise I do recommend.

AWESOME SUSHI. This little sushi place in Newton plaza is amazing. Husband and wife open not even a year yet and it's getting busier and popular. The portion size is huge. I'm always full when I leave there. I never feel ripped off. I work a block away and almost go there everyday for lunch. The food is really good and the bento box is inexpensive. My favorite sushi place and they have a reward program. Free food yay!

Aomori sushi. Cute little sushi place nearby newton wave pool. cute as in having little nemo stickers on their walls lol-which i normally wouldn't like. for example, the last thing i wanna see before stepping into a fried chicken place is a big picture of a rooster. but this was charming for some reason.<br/>food was overall pretty good. sushi was good and tempura was light and crispy. tornado potato appetizer was yummy as well. only thing i didn't like was the beef that came with the fried yakisoba noodles. the marinade for the beef didn't go well with the yakisoba sauce imo<br/>small, family run feel with attentive service and wallet friendly pricing to boot.

LOVE IT!. These guys and gals are amazing, their customer service has never disappointed me and they tend to go the extra mile by giving us something "on the house" while we wait for our order.

Excellent sushi and service! Their bento boxes are quite large, and a great price. Also had the 'Victoria' roll: black rice yam roll with avocado on top- to die for! So glad we found this place, we are definitely going back.

Wow! Very impressive! We had sashimi appetizer & "Dinner Newton Box" last night. Big portions & delicious! The service & ambiance were fantastic! Reserved parking for customers. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend Aomori Sushi! :)

Fantastic ... again!. New sushi restaurant. We've ordered three times now and picked up. Generous portions. Super quality. Super service. Very, very nice restaurant. Once you have the phone number though make sure you save it. They're new and not easy to find through Apple Siri or on-line yellow pages. We can't say enough about this place. I hope they make it and that they don't compromise their service or product in the future. <br/>4/5 Stars!

Deelish and friendly service!. This place just opened last week, amidst a sea of other sushi restos in Newton. However, they really stand out with amazing service, and even promoted different dishes by giving us a couple complimentary creations. There are nice semi-private tables/booths. Nice decor, great quality, competitively priced (lunch box specials start at 5.95 and dinner bento boxes are only 11.95-13.95!). YUM! Thank you for a very nice lunch today. Will definitely come back. Highly recommended.
