Review Ken's Cafe & Restaurant - Surrey

They gave us a take out box whit a huge hole, they could not not have seen that. The rice is a day old, yes I can tell. We ordered spicy rice, it’s not spicy AT ALL. The price is really high. The only reason I tried this place is because I’m determined to find good Chinese food in the hood, and the reviews are positive, so I think I need to tell the truth here. I understand supporting local business all that, but com’on!

These days where food is getting more expensive, Ken’s kitchen is one of the best food I’ve ever eaten for a long time with reasonable pricing. Staff are friendly and their style of food is interesting. I strongly recommend to try it out if you are nearby, I definitely will be coming back again soon

They have changed owners and unfortunately it is not the same flavours, prices and menu has drastically changed. Definitely not the same place or food at all. I miss the old menu, food, prices and owners. Maybe the new generation will like it but I am not a fan unfortunately. I wish the old owners could come back ! However I understand you can’t work forever. Our family hopes they are doing well and miss there awesome Chinese food! They have been there for as long as I can remember. More than 20 years of good food. I have not ever had a bad meal previously. They were very nice people who cook amazing food. Thank you for all your great food and I wish I still lived in Cloverdale, and the old owners could still be cooking amazing food.

great little local Western Chinese Food. this cafe has been in Cloverdale since the 70's I think. The owner is a youngish person that is hoping to bring in a few new dishes of hi own creation soon. I know that the site looks aged, when we went in the tables and chairs brought back memories of bringing my children and gave me an opportunity to discuss local history and to show to my grandchildren what the past really looked like. the food was plentyful and delish. Please support Small local cafe's in Cloverdale

We moved here from Ontario in 1989, and have been coming to Ken's Cafe since then. 33 years and counting, and still the best Chinese Food around.

Friendly owners! They rearranged the tables to accommodate our group. Food was quick to arrive, and the portion sizes were great.

A favorite for Chinese food. Spicy, dry house ginger beef is really good. Vegetables and beef chow mein with black bean sauce is so satisfying. The husband and wife team are lovely.
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
I had not been to Ken's in a long time and had built it up in my mind as being worthy of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. My actual return was a little less of an event than that but still decent. Ken' Cafe is a small older place in the middle of Cloverdale. There are a few tables and some cool old school counter stools. Nothing is waiting on steam tables so Ken actually prepares your food after you order it. There is emphasis on spicy on the menu but while everything I ordered was labelled spicy, nothing blew my head off. I started with Wonton in Spicy Garlic and Pepper and this was amazing. A good sized bowl of meaty wontons with a very garlicky sauce. This was my favorite dish! I ordered 3 dishes to go; Curried Chicken and Veg Chow Mein, Dry Garlic and Spicy Pork and Spicy Ken's Beef and Tomato and Vegetables. One thing for sure is that all the vegetables were generously and perfectly cooked. These dishes were fine but none were heart stopping. I liked the pork the best (serious garlic), the curry could have been a little more impactful (although I understand it is not Indian curry) while the Ken's Special was a little disappointing. Too much sweet and sour and not enough spicy. Still, I was content. Nice folks that have been running this place for a long time. I think that it is a bit of a Cloverdale institution.

Great, quick take-out. Popped in to order take-out for lunch, love the no-frills diner atmosphere. Food was ready in 15 minutes and still hot when I got it home! Cashew chicken was delicious. Will be back!

First time here. Nice staff. Great food. Not fancy at all. However the service and food was great so I will be back. I had the Chinese food.

Nice folks. I moved from Vancouver and had a hard time finding basic bacon and eggs 'trucker' breakfast places in the Clayton/Cloverdale area. Ken's does a great job! Very friendly, good potato/hash browns with the breakfast special. Ambiance is nil but it's all about the nice staff and the good food.
Vancouver's Best Burger
The burger at Ken's Cafe is built with, what looks like, a 6 oz hand-made all beef patty, seasoned with simple salt and pepper, and cooked to a well done. The bun is your run of the mill hamburger bun, slightly buttered and toasted, adding a hint of butter flavour and a slight amount of crunch to the overall texture of the burg. Just your basic, no frills pairing to start off a greasy burg. The Extras What are the required toppings for a greasy spoon burger? Lettuce, tomato, mayo, cheese and bacon. Straight up. Don’t bother looking for anything more. All of the produce was fresh, and the toppings were all flavourful. The only thing I would say needed a little work was the bacon. However, we can’t always be served thick cut house smoked bacon on every burger we eat. This is burger-grease, not burger-chic. The Experience Kens cafe embodies everything that small town Cloverdale once was and still fights to be. Across the street from one locati
