Seen some of the negative reviews on service and price and did not have that experience. The price might be a touch high locally but pretty reasonable for us tourists booked in the high priced hotel across the street. It is cheaper than the hotel and the convenience was worth more than a few dollars. The breakfast croissants were fresh and delicious particularly when complimented with yogurt and fresh fruit. Service was good, restaurant was bright, clean and airy, and the coffee was hot and tasty. Hard not to like.

Very good service, excellent coffee and good food as well. I particularly enjoy their lunch menu as it is light and still filling. Probably my favourite cafe in NL.

El Guapo

I'm a fan of Coffee Matters but mainly to a degree of quick menu items. Their coffee is great and so are grab and go items such as desserts and baked goods. Lunch is pretty decent as well with your basic cafe soup and sandwich combos. As for a cooked breakfast I think you may find better value elsewhere. But personally I love grabbing a morning glory muffin and an americano on my way to the office when I am staying in the neighbouring Sheraton. So for a quick breakfast, coffee, lunch and dessert Coffee Matters is great. Also this is one of the few cafes in town open late and is a popular place for evening coffee. Give it a try.

OMG! THE best lunch ever. I have never written a review about anywhere but this place is so good I had to share! The environment was relaxing, the food was amazing and the desserts were to die for. The service was friendly and fast. And of course the coffee was delish as well. My new fav spot!

Pleased. This place is super clean, and very friendly service. While walking around you get tired sometimes so you need to stop in and get something to drink, or have a bite to eat. Something light and nice. If you want to stop by and get a cup of coffee this is the place to relax and take a time out. It wasn't at all busy and pretty quiet.

I ordered a caramel latte while my family got some hot tea and coffee. The espresso was pretty good and I was able to try two different flavour shots in the small cup and was satisfied with how patient they were with me.. LoL Yea I sound like a hog right now but you got to make sure that you find out your favorite flavor!! Coffee really does matter! :-)

Love this place! My first and favourite spot to hit whenever I'm in town. Espresso beverages are great, desserts are incredible, & service has always been terrific. Great atmosphere too - winter or summer!

It's OK. Nice atmosphere. Some servers are quite nice, some not so much. Don't care too much to have a cup of tea there. I can mix tea myself at home for much cheaper.

We went here twice and enjoyed the recovery lunch special. Small plate with a delicious sandwich and soup, a cookie and coffee. Very nice atmosphere and music, good food and service. A pleasant place to enjoy good food and some internet.

The food is quite tasty. There's healthy options as well as treats for if you're in the mood. The customer service is more or less great - nothing to complain about - and there's an atmosphere perfect for both casual interaction as well as studying/work. All in all, great place!

Reasonable prices, pleasant staff. Latte ready in no time and quite good, recommend the date square. Close to a lot of hotels in the area. Would be nice to have outdoor seating in the summer.
