Love The Rocket! Always have great baked goods. I always welcome. Doing their best to accommodate currently COVID restrictions C:
Great lattes and baking! Almond croissant was fabulous. All the staff were super friendly and happy. Place was busy but service was still fast. Great!
Definitely a local favourite, but I have to discount any place where the likelihood of getting a seat at lunch is slim and none. I really haven't tried the baked goods, but the regular fare is fresh and well made. I have yet to be excited by any of the lunch selections I've eaten there, but I can't say I was disappointed either. For me, meh, what's the fuss?
Food is home made and prepared and baked daily. Best bakery in town. Delicious meal every time. You must try their Ruffino latte. Staff are amazing and make you feel like family. Love it!
We were looking for a simple yet delectable breakfast location and were pretty satisfied with the rocket. Fresh breads and scones coupled with fresh coffee made for an enjoyable way to start the day. It is virtually self serve and the simple seating area is bordered by large windows overlooking the street and guaranteeing maximum morning light.. It didn't hurt that the rocket appeared on You Gotta Eat Here. Prices might be a bit high if you visited daily and ordered sandwiches but we're not an issue with we tourists. Maybe a bit more than Tim Hortons but less than Starbucks.
I have a love-hate relationship with Rocket based on several experiences with the popular cafe and bakery. What I love about it is the location, the baked goods and that they serve Calgary's Phil and Sebastian coffee. Unfortunately sometimes I feel the cons outweigh the pros. The cons being it often smells strongly of vehicle exhaust inside the bakery, which I have mentioned to staff but they tell me they can't smell it (good sign...). I also find Rocket quite expensive; a basic turkey sandwich on regular old bread costs $9 and I can't emphasize the word basic enough as I've created much better sandwiches at home. Thirdly staff often seem unorganized while working. There are two registers and counters, one for coffee and mains and the other for baked goods. Sometimes these are staffed and sometimes they are not. It also makes you feel like you have to wait in two lines to get a coffee and a croissant, which is of course inconvenient. Finally the baked goods can often be fantastic but I have found the quality to be variable. Regardless of my complaints Rocket is a extremely popular bakery in the core of St. John's, which I, even with my reservations still find myself in often. Give it a try and decide for yourself.
Only went here because it was on You Gotta Eat Here and expected very great things. Although it was not up to par with my expectations, it was still pretty good food. The cod cake was probably my favourite. They also have really good coffee!
My go to place for pastries and great coffee! The atmosphere makes it even better! It's fresh, open, and a great place to relax or get some work done! The macarons they serve on Wednesday's are to die for, and their traditional Newfoundland foods are spot on!
Great pastries. I love rocket!!!
the coffee is always good and the pastries are ways better!
the orange cranberry coffee cake is a must!!!
This is my top stop to grab a bite in St. John's. Its a bit confusing when you first walk in (I actually avoided this place for a long time at first). But go in, look around and fear no food - it's all REALLY good.
This is a long way to come for the BEST breakfast sandwich! It's well named: "The Best Kind Breakfast Sandwich". I had it on the aged cheddar green onion biscuit....utterly delicious. Tastes as good as it looks!

I really enjoyed everything from this bakery cafe!! Awesome service & amazing food and coffee!!! This is one of my favourite place in St.John's!!!
Forget any Scones you had tried before. Try theirs, probably English style, not so sweet, crispy enough to chew, and enough to have a light breakfast. Their coffee is amazingly special.
I had my first Cod fish cake and it was sooo tasty. Fresh, lots of fish and the homemade Tarter sauce was excellent. I should have bought more to go 🙁.
Had a nice lunch here before doing the St. John's Walking Tour. We had to have the famous fish cakes and they were very good.
Cute little shop with old architecture. Tables available inside only. Locally owned. Food is fresh and delicious. $12 for a small wrap. Small town feel and decor. Right on the water street strip. Was busy with customers ordering for take-out. Inside seating less busy. Could be a bit cleaner inside...floors, windows and tea ceremony table. Otherwise a nice place to get freshly made good food.
Popped in to grab a coffee and sweet with my partner today. The coffee was amazing, and so was the brownie that I got! I was extremely impressed with the price point of everything offered by Rocket Bakery. My partner got a London Fog and almond croissant which were both fantastic. The store front was clean and the staff were friendly. Definitely recommend!
Just go! Finally a great latte and Americano today in St Johns. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast croissant sandwich and my husband had a sausage roll . Both fresh, excellent and tasty. We shared a raspberry flake which was divine. Ignore the calories and give your taste buds a treat lol . I grabbed a packet of shortbread biscuits for later on with tea. Very impressed and will be back.
Chill retro space themed cafe with delicious food and excellent coffee. Definitely recommend.
I had the pleasure of booking the third floor of the Rocket for my wedding. I loved the old St. John's rustic vibe that the building portrays. Exposed brick walls and pretty Edison lights. Planning this wedding from Ontario was much easier than expected as Sophie made everything so smooth for us. She was kind and helpful. The food here was delicious, full of flavor and plentiful! My guests are still talking about the food! I am so thankful we had our reception here and the staff were excellent!
