Review Piatto - St. John's

Ok best food spot in St.Johns. I’ve tried a lot spots in this city but by far this is the best food, pasta, pizza spot hands down! I’m from Toronto and trust me I know good food especially when it comes to pizza and pasta, we got a lot back in Toronto. That being said this is up there. We had a margarita pizza with half pepperoni. The Pizza’s crust is so thin and soft, the pepperoni curls up and the sauce tastes amazing. We also had their rigatoni bolognese pasta, the pasta tasted home made and fresh, the sauce was just delicious. We also had the tiramisu for dessert, it was the perfect balance of coffee and cream. It was not over powering and tasted great. The environment is cute and romantic. If you are coming here on a date it’s a solid spot. Price is pretty fair and the service is quite amazing.

Lovely night out for our anniversary. Lovely staff and food. Cozy warm atmosphere and the temperature was just so. Really gave the Christmas/winter vibe. My bfs first time there and he love it! Won’t be our last!:) also loved our server! (Can’t remember her name!)

Their pizzas are truly DELICIOUS! The best one I've ever had. We've had the one with honey/prosciutto and one with blue cheese & mushrooms. Both were very tasty. You can really feel the authenticity from Italia. The pizzas are cooked in a wood oven which is great. The incredients on the pizzas are sparse which makes every bite taste different. The cooks seemed to be having fun and if you're seating at the bar, you can watch the preparation. We didn't try their pasta but they looked freshly made. You should definitely go Edit. I went again to try their pastas and wow. It was DELICIOUS. I had the rigatoni with the lemon ricotta (chef's kiss). LOVE this place.

I absolutely loved the pizza! It is my favourite that I’ve ever had. Highly recommended for sure! My boyfriend had pasta there and he loved it as well. I got the Margarita with added Pepperoni and I absolutely fell in love with it. It’s so delicious, juicy and full of flavour. The best pizza I’ve ever had in my life and nice atmosphere too. Highly recommended!

What a great experience! I think maybe the best Italian thin crust pizza I've had. It was fun watching them make it and cook it in the wood fired oven. The atmosphere was fun, great decor with Italian theme, high ceilings, Vespa scooters, etc. Service was friendly and professional. Can't go wrong with any of the choices. There's no thick greasy meat lovers here, all light, crispy, with authentic Italian ingredients. Had Italian wine and sodas, and desserts like Nutella pizza, chocolate mousse, Lemoncello torte, and of course gellato. Recommended, would definitely go back.

A place truly deserving of 5 Stars. I had the pleasure of eating at Piatto Pizzeria. When we first took our seats the staff kindly asked for our drinks right away and got us some waters immediately. We looked over the menu and placed our order. Shortly after our arancini arrived (see photo) which were absolutely delicious. After having the arancini I finished my water expecting to then later call over the wait staff for a refill. To my pleasant surprise they filled my glass back up shortly after. A few minutes later and we had our entree. I ordered the Siciliana (see photo) pizza, my significant other ordered the Carbonara di Spinaci (see photo). Both dishes were phenomenal. The pizza, cooked to perfection in the wood fire oven. The sauce had a beautiful balance of natural sweetness and tang. Cheese and toppings tasted fresh. Finally to tie it all together was the dough. The pasta was even more impressive with its great combination of flavors. Now the food was amazing, but the most impressive thing about Piatto was the wait staff. They filled our waters right away, got new cutlery when they took away our fork from the appetizer (typically staff forgets), and to top it all off the table across from us was trying to take a group photo at the table and the waitress asked if they would like her to take the photo of the group so everyone could be in it. Truly an amazing place, I look forward to eating here again

The pizza was delicious, the staff is kind, and the atmosphere is very nice with the open kitchen area and the dim lighting & candles. Would recommend booking though as it can get very busy especially on the weekends. The bathroom is very clean too.

Wow. Absolutely amazing pizza. The vegetables were fresh and juicy, the crust was just the right combination of crispy and chewy, and the cheese-to-sauce ratio was smack dab in the Goldilocks zone. If I could ask for one thing, it would be the option for a bigger pizza, but I suspect that would compromise the near-perfection on offer. Our waitress was thoughtful and attentive: we told her my dad has a dairy allergy and when my mom got soup with feta on the side, the waitress let us know that it was mixed into the soup base as well, in case she wanted to share. The atmosphere was posh, with a great wine, beer, and cocktail selection to complement their stand-out menu. Perfect place for a date!

This place was great. The atmosphere was funky without being pretentious. The guys making the pizza would throw the dough up the in the air as they were making it, which was fun to watch and everything was made in a real wood burning stove. We had the meatballs and the Siciliana pizza and both were amazing! The marinara sauce on the meatballs was clear made from scratch and was full of flavour. The pizza was so good I caught myself making yummy noises out loud! Friendly service and reasonably prices. Would go again. Definitely recommend!

Best pizza ever! Waiter was very efficient. We ate outside and traffic was busy so the exhaust from cars was not great, but the food made up for it.

Fantastic pizza! Without a doubt would love to come back. HIGHLY reccomend. We shared the margherita pizza and the Greek. Would order both again but I think the Greek was my favourite. Great friendly service as well.

Authentic and amazing! I love The Vibes but this place gives me. The staff was clearly enjoying what they were doing. The music they were playing was very entertaining. Being able to see the kitchen and the chefs cook away the meal you order is a pretty rare setup & has you anticipating food. I had the gnocchi that came with a fantastic creamy basil sauce! This is a must try! Their pizza was perfect and authentic! Well done!

My friend Tiffany and I visited Piatto Pizzeria recently, and we both were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is beautiful! We had a reservation, and upon arrival we were immediately greeted. We were taken to our table, and a few minutes later we were greeted by our server Jon E. He was amazing! Tiffany and I were extremely impressed with how knowledgeable he was. We have never been, and had a lot of questions. He recommended multiple items, and even a few off menu items. Hands down made the entire experience for us both. He would tell us how long each item would take to prepare, and checked back the appropriate amount of times. Topping up water, bringing our drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts! Once the food was ready it was on our table in seconds. I've eaten at a variety of places, and Jon E. hands down made the entire experience. His suggestions were excellent, and everything paired perfectly. The food was delicious, but Jon E. made the experience memorable. We can't wait to return. I recommend Piatto Pizzeria, but I also highly recommend Jon E. We will be requesting him next time we visit, and I suggest you do to. The food was great however, the experience was exceptional!

Bomb espresso I come here for espresso every time. I also grabbed the Marinara pizza. Pizza was so awesome I put oil on it before I took the picture. The place has nice artwork and atmosphere. Friendly staff. The beet salad is basically the best salad on the planet. Barbietiola salad oh man it ROCKS.

We haven't made reservations so needed to settle for takeouts. I'm sure the food will be marvelous if we dine-in with pizza freshly delivered from oven to table.

Would I come back: Yes! Value: Good fresh ingredients and dishes with great flavours. The Good: Everything was delicious and came quickly. The server was really friendly and approachable. The Bad: Strangely, the salad had more toppings than greens (balance was a bit off we felt). Either way it still tasted great. Bath/Rest/Wash-rooms: Clean!

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming when you walk in the doors� the food is amazing no matter what you choose, ( I've never tried something I didn't love and have again) and it's great for a quick and taisty lunch, ( they have really great dine in lunch specials ) OR a start to a fun date night downtown � I also recommend trying the wine samples they do... I think its called wine flights maybe? I feel its obvious the staff enjoys working there and it adds to experiance when you can look around and see people actually like where they are� PS. The Stephanie is extra good if you are down with adding olives! True story�

Amazing staff, excellent food, best service! You guys never disappoint in the above categories (or in any category, really). Paradise could really use a location *hint hint* ���

We went to Duckworth location...my niece recommended....well told me...I have to go there other than another establishment...this place is more your style!! She wasn't wrong!! We were seated almost immediately by the server with red curly hair ( I have forgotten her name) but she was lovely...not having been there before I asked what she would recommend and she suggested the Stephanie..OMG it was amazing...Prosciutto, pears, goat cheese and balsamic reduction...I went to heaven last night!!! Crust was thin like I like it...it was beautiful...salt and sweet all in the one bite, who could ask for anything more...we thoroughly enjoyed our evening except for the small hiccup at the take away (no biggie we just enjoyed the ambiance) thanks and I will recommend it to others and will be back next time in St. J!!!!

We absolutely loved our dinner. I enjoyed ‘the Stephanie’. The atmosphere was lovely and we enjoyed the upstairs room to ourselves. Our server, Nicole was very pleasant and gave us great recommendations for food and other restaurants/ bars to visit while in St John’s. I would highly recommend this restaurant. �

We went to Piatto on Sunday past for a birthday dinner. We don't go out to eat often and had been looking forward to trying Piatto after hearing so many good things about it. What a disappointment. We arrived around six and the restaurant was busy but not full. It is a beautiful space with a lively atmosphere and all seemed to be going great. We were seated and eventually our server came over. Our drink order was taken and menus were left all seemed fine. After awhile he finally came back and took our order. This is where it started to take a turn for the worst. Having never been there we asked a few questions about the appetizers and we were left with the impression we were wasting his time. We ordered and waited and waited. The appetizer came (mozzarella balls, only two as the server told us and made sure we knew we would only get one each... weird right.). The mozzarella balls were lukewarm and the centre was room temperature. Totally disgusting. Around the same time a seemingly well to do couple arrived and were seated at the table next to us. Same server gave them awesome service and practically sat in their laps for the rest of our time there. Then a couple (late teens) came in and the same server was uninterested and aloof with them as well. My question is why treat customers differently based on how they are perceived by what they wear and/or order. I own my own business and I felt like I shouldn't have even been there. At this point we had finished our drinks and waited and waited for water. It seems if you order wine you get better service, at least in our section. Main course came and it was pretty good but the experience was ruined for the both of us at this point due to the service. I asked for the cheque and when I paid the bill the server ripped the receipt off and threw it on the table. Never again. It really is a beautiful space and I'm sure, as with any new location, they will probably work out the kinks but neither of us will return to find out.

We had pizza which was excellent, panna cotta was very tasty but the portion was small. The Caprese was the worst I ever had in my life. The tomatoes were not ripe and tasted like plastic which is what happens when tomatoes are not ripe. There is no reason for this. And there was not enough olive oil, very disappointing. I had this same dish in Charlottetown and it was phenomenal!

Beautifully charred brick oven pizzas, and probably the single best 15 dollar eat-in lunch special I've found in the city.

Feel free to try the "Dolce e Fumoso" which if my Italian is correct, is English for - The best damn thing you can ever put in your mouth. Best pizza I have ever eaten to date, so great. *begins slow clap*

Absolutely my favourite pizza anywhere. Love this place. Why 4 stars? My favourite pizza, the Piero, is no longer offered. We used to eat here almost weekly. Without the Piero, we've been able to cut back to monthly. Please bring it back!

Very underwhelming. Looking for something new, we decided to give your Elizabeth Ave location a shot tonight. Looks fantastic in there. We werent long waiting for a table considering it was busy. We sat down and decided on our order, waitress was helpful, told us it was going to be a little bit of a wait on our app and pizza but that our salads would be out shortly. Our app was out first, and seeing the size of the bowl it came in, i was left wondering what in the hell i just paid $12 for. After one bite and tasting how salty it was was, I was quick to the conclusion that i wouldn't have been able to eat another one even if i wanted to. About a min after our app came, our salads arrived... Again, i was wondering why I was paying such a high price for such a small portion, but at least i didn't need a gallon of water after eating it. We had just finished our app and started on the salads when all of a sudden the pizza came out, maybe 3 mins from the time the app arrived to the time the pizza came. By the time we got around to that after the salads, the pizza was cold, and again, for the price, nothing fantastic. Sadly we won't be back.

We had dinner at Piatto last night and it was amazing as always! Friendly service, fun atmosphere and amazing food. We had an appetiser, cocktails, entrees, coffee, and a bottle of nice wine for a little over $100.00 and it was worth every penny. My only regret is that we were a little tipsy by the time we were finished and forgot to bring our leftovers home!

Child friendly!! Simply amazing pizza!! Staff were very friendly, went out of there way to go through the menu and recommend a pizza for my 4 year old daughter. While we were there 3 other tables had small children as well. Desert may have been one of the best I have had in a while, which was a pleasant surprise. When we ordered 1 desert and 3 forks the young lady serving us had a big smile, after we finished she was friendly and took a minute to check how things were and if we enjoyed our meal, talked to us and our daughter. Staff was friendly, polite, and we never once felt rushed or that they were simply trying to get you in and out like many restaurants do to free up space. A very positive experience.

Just had the bbq chicken pizza it was amazing! Service was top self, will definitely be back again!

ITA: Un po di tempo fa sono andato a Piatto Pizzeria and Enoteca e gia dal nome capivo che era un ristorante italiano e ho avuto una bella esperienza e mi è piaciuto molto il modo in cui fate la pizza e personalmente la pizza che fate è uguale a quella italiana. Era stata una serata fantastica. ENG: A while ago I went to Piatto Pizzeria and Enoteca and by the name I knew it was an Italian restaurant and I had a great experience and I really loved the way you do the pizza and personally the pizza you do is the same as that in Italy. It was a fantastic evening.

Shared an excellent meal at the new Elizabeth Avenue location today. The food, value and service were exceptional. Our server Shane went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and fully enjoyed our experience. Looking forward to many more visits!
