Please note I'm southern so I know bbq I got the radonkadonk and a poutine to go quick notes crazy soft bread but hard to handle put poutine gravy on side or make sure you add enough to cover the fries
Looked like 3 tsp was applied. smokiness on the brisket on the bland side very little bark and a bit chewy thin the onions a bit I love onions but they were wide.
Third... Where's the sauce! Put it on the meat on the side somewhere!!!!!! Everything was a hint of smokiness sauce andspices it's a BBQ joint put it out there a bit more! It was good just was to taste it after 10 min.....:)
First time here. Server was friendly, attentive, and she recommended the poor mans steak. Delicious! Definitely would go back to try some of the other items.
With most menu items under $10, the casual joint makes for an inexpensive meal or take out, especially for the large portions.
What was amazing?
The Redonkadonk Sandwich (As featured on the Food Network Canada’s Show, You Got to Eat Here) with smoked brisket, pulled pork, bacon, grilled onions, fries and bull slaw on a bun ($11.45) was indeed “redonkulous” with moist meat and smokey flavours…and it was huge!
The house-made tortilla chips were amazing as they were crispy.
What they could improve on?
Crispier fries and the ribs. It was good but not a stand out, for a BBQ joint.
In the heart of downtown St. Catherines, The Bull BBQ Pit serves a variety of BBQ items including smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork and home-made burgers. As featured on the Food Network Canada’s Show, You Got to Eat Here, I tried the Redonkadonk Sandwich with smoked brisket, pulled pork, bacon, grilled onions, fries and bull slaw on a bun ($11.45). The sandwich was indeed “redonkulous” with moist meat and smokey flavours…and it was huge!
Amazing! A must try if you're in the area. Never had anything I didn't like of the menu. Servers are alway friendly and foods always fast. Redonkadonk is a must!!
Really enjoyed the Redonkadonk. My friends and I decided to give this place a try for lunch today and we really enjoyed our visit. I ordered a Redonkadonk sandwich with taco fries and it tasted really good. The brisket on the sandwich was a little fatty but once I cut some of the fat off it was great. The food is a pretty good value and is very tasty. We'll definitely be back :)
Good BBQ. Not great Service was good but took for ever to get out food 25-30 minutes. Not a fan of the spice/flavour on the fries.
Between the sheets sandwich. Two grilled cheese sandwiches with a burger in the middle. Served with fries ofcourse...need I say more here folks ?
Lunch Review. Found this place on here and decided to try it out. Absolutely amazing. It was pretty quiet for lunch which surprised me since their food is absolutely fantastic. Like, dance-in-your-seat fantastic. I went with a group: I ordered the ribs (I was in heaven.. falling off the bone). The radonkadonk burger, philly cheesesteak and a oink oink burger made it to our table. Oh - and some onion dip. My group ate everything. Their fries are killer too. Wonderful prices with nothing over $11. We also got the promo-d 2 pints in a boot. It was fun and the waitress was absolutely fantastic. You Gotta Eat Here is also visiting this week so you KNOW this place is great! Definitely going back.
Trying to get out of the cold and in need of lunch, my wife & I randomly chose this restaurant simply because it was he closest restaurant to the street intersection. Once inside, we were the third set of customers there but in all fairness it was around 1:30pm on a Tuesday afternoon during a cold snowy afternoon. Just to make the rest of this as short as possible, the service was exceptional and friendly, the food we had was excellent and worthy to be called proper BBQ house food and the price was reasonable. We would definitely recommend the Fidel Castro pulled pork sandwich and the chili. Usually I tend to be wary of even the better restaurants during slow periods of the day but while waiting for our food to arrive, I had a chance to see other reviews of the The Bull here and was impressed. When a restaurant cares to produce great food during ANY period of the day, you know it is a great place. Hoping to make the journey from Brampton to St. Catharines again, we would definitely eat here again.
Loved it. Unique items and huge portions, look my family back with me the second time.
Coffee is always fresh and delicious - free refills.
Great place!. It seems like lately all I have done is write good reviews. I guess I have just been very pleased recently with the selection of restaurants I have had. that being said... The Bull BBQ Pit is getting a rave review.
And first off I have to say it's one hell of a beautiful place. The floors, the booths... Everything is perfect. I really really enjoyed the atmosphere.
As for everything else.. No complaints. The prices were pretty amazing and the staff is very pleasant and flexible. No... They weren't doing cartwheels down the isles but I did manage to get 2 burgers made into one with no hassle. It was even the idea of the waitress. Awesome idea Danielle. Merci beaucoup.
Order up for a starter plate of nachos with the most amazing home made salsa and guacamole I have ever had. I had the "oink oink" burger mixed with the "Between The Sheets". If you are wondering... the between the sheets is a burger between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches which once tasted will unlock the full potential of your taste buds. Add some jalapenos to that S.O.B. and you are in heaven. A side of "taco fries" went amazingly well with it. And FRESH CUT FRIES folks; no frozen waste here. Fan-freakin-tastic. (I LOVE FROZEN FRIES said no one ever...)
the "bullslaw" is damn good. I managed to get some of that off my aunt's plate. And all of this went perfect with a Steam Whistle. I was full... packed... stuffed...overflowing...glutted... I needed a wheelbarrow to get me out the door.
I just don't know how to feel right now. It was great. The best part?
Under $40 with taxes.
Bam.
What the hell are you waiting for? Go get some barbeque.
My lady and I just went there for the first time for dinner on January 14, 2014 and we loved it. We had the Fidele Castro and Rudonkedonk sandwiches, loved them both! We'll be back as The Terminator says!
Awesome, Cheap, & Unique!. I just moved into the area a month ago for school. Somebody recommended that I check out The Bull. I went with a couple of friends for dinner and I can honestly say it is delicious! I had the mac and cheese and for something so basic, it was so flavourful!
Everything about the restaurant is appealing. The staff is nice, the music is laid back, the decor is pleasing, and the food is some of the best in St. Catharines.
Will definitely be back all the time!
Awesome awesome awesome! The server was so kind and fun. The food was all awesome and the menu was very interesting.
Definitely get the redonkadonk sandwhich!
Great Place!. Overall it is a really great place! The prices are amazing and the food is even better! The atmosphere is extremely comforting and the staff is very friendly! I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Amazing BBQ food. Pulled pork is to die for. And a great place if you like meat and want a cheap but tasty meal! We go here all the time.
Eat here, you won't be disappointed!
Awesome fresh food and service, everything on the menu is under $10. Have been several times and always look forward to going back.
A hidden gem in downtown St. Catharines!
We ordered lunch for work. Everyone loved the food! I loved the dead texan. Prices can not be beat.
Awesome food. Can't stop thinking about the next time we will be able to go there and have more wings. The Bull's wings are amazing and priced right.
Great BBQ!!!!. What a great place to eat! I like BBQ and this place was excellent. I started with the chicken wings (they were huge) then the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork. Everything was great and went down with a cold pint.
The restaurant is well laid out and the decor is cool. The staff is attentive and very energetic, always with a smile. A great place for a date or for a gathering with friends.
The food is absolutely amazing and I am never disappointed, although the service is getting a bit slow, only having one waitress for a full restaurant is not efficient, and I feel bad for her!
Having to wait almost an hour for food is not going to make for loyal customers!
Just had takeout chili fries and they were very good. Would try again! :)
Smoke onion dip is addictive..... Redonkadonk is redonkadonk.... Got the dead Mexican with roasted jalapeños it's fantastic....
The bull BBQ pit has good food.
First time and counting. I checked out Bull BBQ for the first time today. I was impressed the restaurant and the friendliness of the waitress.
The menu is a perfect size and the different options are great.
The Fidel Castro was awesome! The addition of the bbq sauce added extra flavour. I think the only thing that could be better is to toast the bun a little bit....
I will be back again - want to try the 'massive' wings.
Glad we found this place! Fantastic burgers and pulled pork! Prices are right. Will certainly visit again.
Fantastic!. My boyfriend and I have been looking for a new restaurant to go to on a fairly regular basis. We like eating out but I will admit I am kind of picky. Not only was I very happy that we decided to go there but we're planning on getting our friends together in hopes of a weekly visit. It really was that good.
Because we had never been there before we actually ordered 'The Munchies' appetizer, which was 3 pulled pork sliders and 3 brisket sliders. They were fantastic! My entree was called 'Fidel’s Cousin' (which was the pulled pork sandwich) and my boyfriend had 'The Dead Texan' (burger with cheese and roasted Jalapenos). He enjoyed his burger a lot and I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich. Both the the burger and the pulled pork were juicy and well flavored.
I would highly recommend trying out The Bull BBQ Pit if you're looking for a comfortable and enjoyable environment with great barbecued food.
Very good value and the food is really good. Hands down the best place for BBQ in the Niagara Region!

+4.5
The food here is amazing! You get what you pay for and more. Tons of good food for a good low price. Don't forget dessert! Home made apple pie!
First time visit. Brisket and pulled pork were as good as some of the best we've had in Texas and Louisiana. Attention to detail such as Thyme in the gravy and a pinch of cayenne in the slaw raised the bar. Steam Whistle on tap was an added bonus to the meal. Friendly staff, timely service, reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!
The Bull Best food around!!. THE BULL BBQ PIT in st cathrines on St Paul!
Ever thing is truly HOMEMADE from the BBQ sauce to the apple pie and everything in between.
There is a hamburger called Between the sheets: it consists of a grilled cheese,a burger patty, slice of cheese, garnish, and another grilled cheese
Radonkadonk: pulled pork, beef brisket, fries and an amazing coleslaw (i usually dont like slaw) IT'S TO DIE FOR! So tender
Fidel castro: pulled pork sandwich with the slaw on it. Very yummy
Fidel's cousin: beef brisket with slaw on it. Very yummy
They have a smoked onion dip that is servers with a sliced up pita. It is EPIC!!! I have never had such a
good dip before! They should seriously jar and sell it!
The wings are enormous, and so so tasty!
There are lot more delectable dish's to choose from on the menu.
Every meal is 10$ or less!!! Even their steak n mashed dinner!
Don't let the price fool u the food is very very high quality! You can taste the passion that the owner Omar puts behind his restaurant!
Also I find it such a delight that he is always there, either cooking the food, or greeting customers with a big smile and handshake!
CHECK IT OUT I PROMISE YOU, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!! ;) ;)
Quality food, great atmosphere a great BBQ restaurant in st catharines. Defiantly a must.
Amazing i had the between the sheets burger with bacon and chilli cheese fries......the way the cheese meltes from between those beatifuly toasted bread was like an orgy inside my mouth it will be ashame when my body expells this meal
My friend and I go to The Bull bi-weekly and haven't been let down yet. The food is always stellar. The price is excellent, and quite refreshing for a sit down restaurant (everything on the menu is under $10). The menu itself is one page...FINALLY a restaurant understands that a 10 page menu is too long, they follow a golden rule "keep it simple stupid". The wings are amazing for an appetizer, give them a try. I've tried close to half the menu and can't say I don't recommend anything on it, it's all a hit! If they continue to use the same formula, they're destined for success in Niagara.
Had the steak and mashed potatoes, steak was good though the mash was not great at all. Would like to explore the menu a bit more.
Great food and great prices too. We are from Mississauga and we had been told about The Bull in St Catherines. We recently just went and I must say that the next time I'm going to Niagara Falls or States I will definitely be going there again. The restaurant was nice and friendly looking. We were attended to immediately and we meet the owners. Great guys The menu had enough choices and the prices are under $10. We tried the wings and they were nice and big. They had a smoky taste and they were juicy. We went with the kids and one of the boys had Mac Daddy Mac and Cheese the other had a basic burger. They kids were nice and full. Myself I had Fidel's Castro the brisket meat was juicy and had a hint of spice and it came with the special bullslaw. My hubby had the Dead Texan and thoroughly enjoyed the moist and juicy burger the jalapeño and garlic toast makes this burger unique. The fries are tasty just to eat with ketchup even after you are full. The owners convinced us to have a slice of dessert and we're glad we did as we truly enjoyed the chocolate banana cake. We wish The Bull BBQ Pit much success as we plan to visit many more times.
Terrific!. This is my second time going to The Bull BBQ Pit and both times have just been great! The first time I ordered the Basic burger which is just delicious and you can tell that its handmade. Its very moist and they put on all the toppings you like. The second time, I had the pulled chicken sandwich. Wow! It was so smokey and moist! You can have the coleslaw on the sandwich or on the side and it is also delicious! The service was wonderful both times. Even the manager was serving people. My boyfriend spoke to the manger about how great the restaurant is and he was very entusiastic as was all the rest of the staff. I would say 10 out of 10! The only thing I would say that there is no vegetarian option so if you're veg or vegan this is not the place for you.
The food was great! I had the Fidel Castro. The brisket tasted great and the bull slaw was delicious. The French fries were okay but the best part was the price. Dinner for my girlfriend and myself was less than 30 bucks with tip and dessert. I would return for sure.
Great food, great atmosphere. A burger craving took 2 of us here.
The 'Basic burger' was great. It was flavourful, moist, the bun was toasted perfect. I would definitely order another burger.
The pulled pork sliders were also a great choice. There was adequate pork on each bun, the meat was so tender and flavourful. Their fries are also unique, and although I'm not typically a fry guy, these were very tasty.
My beer was served cold and fresh.
Service was prompt, with a smile, and genuine. The restaurant was very clean, and the atmosphere was upbeat.
A great overall dinner experience without breaking the bank. Would I go back? Definitely!!
Excellent meal at a great price. Loved the smokey flavour of the philly cheese steak and the burgers were better than I've had in a while. I will definitely be returning.
Absolutely amazing food and great people, Fidel's cousin (the pulled pork) was juicy and tender, the homemade bull slaw is so different but very delicious and the between the sheets (hamburger with 2 grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun) is fit for a king. Will definitely be coming back!! AMAZING!!
Two times a charm.... The other night after learning there was a new Barbque joint in town I had to try it!
I grew up touring the States and have had some really really decent bar b que. This place isn't set up like a Mom and Pop place, it has a modern casual sophistication. Almost like a wing joint (Wild Wing).
I grabbed the Dry Rub Chicken w/ Garlic Mashed Potato;
(for the wife)..I kinda ate it and didn't take it home.
I wasn't SHOCKED by the flavor here, mind you I'm not a huge 'blackened chicken guy'.. it wasn't a letdown but it wasn't a slamdunk. The chicken wasn't super moist, though the rub seemed nice. I would've wanted more garlic in the potato and more salt as well.
I knew there was far more potential to this place so the first chance I could I went back to try either the "Between the Sheets" hamburger (w 2 grilled cheese instead of a bun) or the Fidel Castro: the brisket sandwich (w/slaw) w/ fries.
The owner Omar (who seems really genuine about what he is trying to accomplish there) told me that the Castro would be a better choice seeing as how the BTS would weigh me down. I liked his honest approach.
The Fidel Castro was amazing.
The rub had very intense flavors and the coleslaw added some moisture to the already very tender meat.
The fries were par w any great 'park fry' or 'chip wagon'; they are slimmer and a bit more tender than most.
I got some extra budwieser barb sauce for fry dipping.
Mmmm
I will be back many times to come..
Love the place. Great new spot in st Catharine's. Highly recommended great food, better people.
Food was Fab !!. Went with the family for dinner and had a great meal. My son had the steak which he raved about, and the rest of us tried everything. The dip was fab, the burgers were delicious, mac & cheese was great, fries were fresh, and oh that apple pie........tastes like home.
It's about time!. It's about time downtown St. Catharines got a good BBQ place. Three of us went for dinner - we all ordered sandwiches - Philly cheesesteak, Fidel's Cousin (pulled pork with coleslaw), and Between the Sheets (a cheeseburger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches). All plates came with shoestring french fries, and all our dinners were priced at $7.95 each. Service was friendly, food was delicious, can't wait to return to try some other menu items.
Great food. Had the between the sheets and a creemore beer. Excellent food and great prices. literally the best.
Pretty good. Tried The Bull the other night. The place looks great and the service is really friendly. We ordered the smoked onion dip, wings, Fidel Castro and Fidel's Cousin. The dip? AWESOME. Really smokey and flavourful. The wings were good, with a nice sauce. I tried the Castro (brisket) and it was okay. A lot like stringy pot roast (but a bit more gristly). Good smoke flavour. The Cousin (pulled pork) had a nice zing to it. And the fries are fresh, hot and crispy. Really well done. Can't wait to go back and try the burgers and the smoked chicken dinner.
*Edited to add - We've since been back a couple of times. I've tried the burger and it's okay. Dry though. My husband had the pulled pork sliders (I preferred them to the full sandwich) and mac & "cheese," which was very watery, with overcooked, mushy macaroni and not a lot of cheese (flavour or texture). My husband has also since had the steak, which was thin and gristly, which wasn't a surprise for the price. He said that the garlic mashed potatoes were great, though.
I thought I heard the server tell another table that the sauce is just Budwiser BBQ sauce from a bottle. If that's the case, it's a huge disappointment. I don't think it's too much to expect a BBQ joint to make their own sauce.
As a southerner,I found it interesting that a BBQ place did not serve ribs. Although the meat from my Fidel castro was very tasty. The cheesesteak was lacking any cheese, and so was the macaroni...good atmosphere, great location.
Amazing food, great prices, cheap beer...what more can you ask for? Owners are really friendly as well.
