My wife and I went here for the first time on a Friday night before a concert at the Arden Theater. From the minute we walked in the door until we left after our meal, it was obvious all of the staff were dedicated to making our experience amazing. We were looked after by Cindy who is one of the (new) owners and she provided some of the best service we have ever had, anywhere. Everything is done with class, and pride.
The food was excellent (we shared a beet salad, both had the Carbonara and shared a Tiramisu). Everything was delicious with large portions at very reasonable prices. They have a great wine list and again, the prices are very fair. The ambience is cozy and welcoming. Overall, it was a fantastic dinner and we will be back soon. I really hope people support this wonderful, locally owned, non-chain restaurant run by people that are incredibly passionate about what they are doing. Outstanding!
I think much of the content on Zomato is from before 2019 and the new owners... New owners are great and the food is all such good quality and so yummy as a result! Great plates for sharing and a super cute, modern environment!
What a fantastic Mother's Day dinner at Luisa's. We were frequent patrons before but will be even more now. Our meals were so great. I cannot wait until we go back. As the Italian restaurant world has changed a bit, what a joy for this new experience with the new owners. Thank you and thank you for the roses! Truly, a must!
This restaurant is a hidden treasure on Perron Street. Fabulous food, authentic sauces, bison special was to die for!! Veal Polpette was perfect. The tiramisu is a creamy, coffee-laden delight. I have to mention the daily homemade bread, so good!! Aaaaand the pan warmed olives with homemade sausage were a wonderful pairing. We will be back with friends.
I went here on a Friday night. Apparently they are busy every night so get in early or call in advance!
I went with a friend and shared a few dishes. We started with the bruschetta and shrimp scampi. The bruschetta had a strong taste of garlic and basil and the bread was toasty and warm. The shrimp scampi was spicy at first taste, but; the sambuca gave off a nice sweet after taste. Lastly we shared their pork medallion entree. It came with brandy mushroom cream sauce with roasted potatoes and asparagus. So flavourful.
The food and service was great. The menu definitely reminded me of my holiday in Italy, I will definitely be back to try more!
Absolutely amazing! I was with a group of 5, and the entire meal we could not stop raving about how good our food was.
I was a little worried as I tend to be a picky eater, and usually like my comfort burger and fries type meal. I had a lamb shanks. AMAZING! I didn't want my plate to end! The meat portion was definitely generous, and so flavorful. Loved the potatoes, and the asparagus with it was done to perfection.
There were a few item on the menu for kids, a plus for some families that had brought their kids there.
Highly Highly recommend.
Oh ya. The service was good too. Nothing exceptional, but friendly and got the job done timely and professionally. The owner did come out to talk to us and ask how things were going which I thought was nice.
WOW, all I can say…. I have never had a meal that makes me describe it with so many adjectives: exquisite, delectable, delicious, extraordinary... I could go on! This is THE place to take anyone you want to impress. I will definitely return. This time I enjoyed the chicken parmigiana and shrimp scampi and I can't say I have ever had such a tasty meal! I don't want to spoil it for you, just go and try it!
Went there for the first time after many co-workers recommended the place and will definitely will not be the last! Had a great experience! The staff are friendly and very helpful in choosing the right wine and which dish I would enjoy. Had the bruschetta to start, was very garlicy, but; the herbs and cheese had a nice compliment to it. I’ve been to many restaurants for lamb, but; never had it the way they made it. Was delicious and very tender, I had try to their tortellini, so the waiter recommended that I could subsite it.
That being said, I do have a recommendation, I feel that their appetizer portions are too big (reduce it down ;) ).
Would definitely give this a try!
I was out venturing in St. Albert for a show at the Arden Theater and I came across this little place situated right across from the venue. What a find I must say indeed. The atmosphere of the place was warm and inviting and felt like I was right at home. We began with one of their specialities of the evening, being the Cozze (steamed mussels) done in a white wine garlic sauce, very flavourful I must say, followed by the next course, being as I'm assuming their famed bruschetta since practically every table in dining room, seemed to have that dish. I had the lamb shank done in red wine sauce as my main meal, very tender and my other party had the Pescatore (mussels, what I believe is salmon, topped with a lobster tail), she seemed enjoy it as well.
We both were full for dessert, however; to our luck, they were still opened after the show and we were able to sneak in just before closing to have a little night cap, tiramisu and cappuccinos.
I live far out in south Edmonton, however; I'll definitely make sure to venture out there again!!
Go there all the time when I need my
Italian fix. They've got the best bruschetta with lots of garlic and basil. The shrimp scampi is also really and very spicy.
Tortellini with their meatballs is a must to have! Only downside is that they are not open for lunches :(
Been to this restaurant this past week and I have to say that their Cesare salad and veal parm is probably one of the best I've had to date in a Italian restaurant. The business is quite cozy and the staff are friendly.
One downside is that they don't have draft beer, but their drink specials makes up for it.
Went to this restaurant last week for a get together with a group of friends and had a great time. The place is small and cozy and the staff are professional and friendly. It was a bit cold due to the AC cranked, but had no complaints since it was 37 degrees outside haha. I started off with a cold Italian beer, Peroni I believe and tried one of their drink specials, that had Jack Daniels and Spiced Rum in it. One of my friends had the cesare which also looked pretty tasty as well. I started of with the shrimp scampi, nice and spicy, followed by lambs shanks with a side of tortellini. The lamb was excellent and so juicy it fell off the bone! The tortellini was great as well, with a yummy alfredo sauce. Unfortunately I was too full for dessert to try the tiramisu. Will make a rain check on that and have it next I come :)
Overall, 10/10
Great Food, Great Drinks!. Just went to my usualy hangout spot at Luisa's and another excellent meal I had. I like how they changed up their drink menu and started having drink specials, nice job guys! Had my usually bruschetta and shrimp scampi to start and changed it up from this time, from my usual tortellini and chicken to the lamb shank and veggies, no regrets there. I like how they changed up their drink menu and started advertising drink specials, nice job guys! Great cesare drink with the lemon sliced rim and the decorated celery to top it off. Once again, ill be back for more!
Enjoyable dining experience. We had our first dining experience at Luisa's Sat. evening and found it to be a good dining experience. We were warmly welcomed by Rosa and twice through our dinner Rocco came by to make sure everything was to our liking. Not many places give you that personal care by the owners.
We had Caesar Salad for 2 which was enough for the 3 of us and tasty. Our entrees were the Pescatore which was loaded with mussels, shrimp, and a lobster tail and generous portion of pasta. And tasted delicious. And the Chicken Lasagna which also was hot and delicious and a generous portion which I enjoyed. We all had the Canoli for dessert and was excellent. 2 large Canoli with pistachio filling and topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. So delish and one dessert was complimentary because of our anniversary. Nice touch.
We are glad we finally tried Luisa's and would go back. Our server was attentive and the place was busy. Our only negative was that it was a special occasion and the place looks more casual than we expected. Fairly plain decor and atmosphere. We were hoping for a more authentic Italian decor and feeling. But that said the food and warm personal attention to customer satisfaction made up for that.
Wonderful food. Went there for my first time the other night to Luisa's with my family after several friends had recommended the place. Nice little cozy place it is. We started off with the bruschetta, very tasty with lots of garlic. I ordered the lamb shank with a side of gnocchi, best lamb shank I've had in a long time and the gnocchi was just how I've had it in Italy. One of my kids had lasagna which they seemed to enjoy seeing how they almost licked all of the tomato sauce off the plate lol. We barely had room for dessert but daunted the task of trying the taramisu, with no regrets. Definatly coming back. :)
Great Experience. Went to this restaurant for the first time last night with a friend and had a pleasant time. The tomato sauce was good and brushetta was fantastic. Had the tiramisu as a night cap. Will be back!
Excellent!! First time to u.... Excellent!!
First time to urbanspoon and saw the reviews for Luisa's. Just had to try it out. Went out for dinner Saturday night with the family and was greet by friendly staff and a comfy venue. We started off with bruschetta and gambari start, and it was wonderful. I had the veal parmesan and it was tender I almost didn't need a fork. We shared a tiramisu and the taste reminded me of what I had in Italy. Overall I recommend this place to everyone I meet. Will be back!
Another fabulous meal! Had the bruschetta to start and the tortellini with chicken. Yum :)
Delicious. We went there for my daughters birthday on a recommendation and it defiantly exceeded our expectations. Service was prompt and courteous. Food was absolutely beautifully prepared. I can still taste the bolognese sauce I had and pricing was extremely affordable for the quality you recieve. We will be back many times in the future.
Absolutely wonderful food! Been going there for over 6 years. Every special occasion my family's choice is Luisa's. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Order the bruschetta and shrimp scampi. Highly recommended!!
Perfect 10. As a single gal with a busy job, I tend to dine out a lot. A good friend of mine brought me here with her husband and its nothing short of exceptional. Seriously, I have to say this is one of the best dining experiences I have had anywhere in the world. The family run restaurant is so intimately refreshing with not just fine food and drink but literally hands on dining exeperience from the family itself. The husband and wife who own and run it do an exceptional job to create an intimate dining experience. The few times I have dined there, the owner always stops by the table to check on satisfaction and has often toasted the table with free Sambuca. The food is delicious, made from scratch and its exceptional service. What more could one want?
Our favorite. Can't say enough. Great service from all of the servers. Food is magnificent.
Always try the specials. My hubby thinks they serve the best lamb shanks in town! Pasta is wonderful sauces are home made and so savoury you will want to lick the plate. Do not pass up the Sambuca Prawn appetizer!
VERY highly recommended.
Honestly damn good pasta!. Usually go for chinese, but heard rave reviews about this place. I could tell already when I walked to the door that it was going to be good cause the smell of my grandmas cooking brought back all these memories as a child. Nice to go to places like these that are small enough where you can interact with the owners and eat a damn good plate of pasta! Definitely going back
Italian the way it should be!
Truly a hidden gem of St. Albert. Heard great reviews from friends so decided to try the place out. Went on a Wednsday night thinking to have their pasta night and could not get in..... It was completely packed!!!!! I asked a server and they recommend reservations as a must. To make long story short, went on a Friday night and had their bruschetta (best ever tasted :)!) to start and followed by a veal parm SO tender I used only my fork to cut it and finished off with tiramisu. I travel frequently and ate at a lot of Italian Restaurants but there is no comparison to this one absolutely wonderful. Worth the money and definately will be back!
Loved this place! Great service, owners are incredibly personable and kind. Great experience! Bruschetta is fabulous as is all dishes!
One of our favorite restaurants!. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for 5+ years.. We love it. Great food, cozy atmosphere, and local artwork displayed! The owners are lovely people (Rocco and Rosa) and we always leave happy.
Our favorite dishes are the Chicken Parm and the sambuca shrimp..... DELISH!
My wife and I have been going here for 6 years, at least once a month. Food is excellent, service is great . We like the window seat.
We really enjoyed it. The food was simple but very good. Service was fast and prices were reasonable.
Great food, great service. Went to this small, family run restaurant on a Wednesday night and found it bustling with happy, regular customers. My wife and I had a lovely meal and by the end of the night we felt we knew the owners.
The pasta dishes were perfect, and I'm looking forward to trying out other menu items.
Follow your server's suggestions and don't pass up the dessert!
