Review Chef Express - Saskatoon

Satay Chicken and Vegetables: Good flavour, nice white chicken meat and good variety of hearty vegetables that were not over cooked. Ginger Beef: Good sized chunks of beef. A lot of other places either have no beef or over cook them. Sweet and sour pork: Good meat and flavour Shanghai Noodles: Fresh noodles, love the flavour, yummy chicken beef and shrimp and big hearty vegetables cooked well again.

The food here is the absolute best. The staff are always friendly and kind. Just a heads up though that they are more geared towards delivery!

Ordered fairly late in the night and everything arrived perfect, almost too hot to eat right away. Absolutely fantastic flavour! We ordered crab Rangoon, chicken chow mein, spicy ginger beef, honey garlic chicken and spring rolls. Fair prices and quick delivery. Was ordered thru Skip but it is their own drivers.

My boyfriend and I usually ordered from China inn as they had the best spicy ginger beef and Shanghai noodle. Disappointed to hear they closed so we had to try a new place tonight. Ordered from here and it was OUTSTANDING. Huge portions, food came so hot and it was all so delicious. Loved the spring rolls and Crab rangoon as well. Highly recommend and will order again !

This was hands down the best take away food I have eaten. It arrived hot. The egg roll was crunchy on the outside and not overcooked as the veggies inside were crisp. Every mouthful was bliss. Noodles, rice and chicken. Highly recommend. My new goto food shop.

Haven't ever really had a bad experience here. The food is always hot and fresh. Tastes amazing too. Just wish they offered substitutes for their combo dishes

Everything was sooooo good. The Sweet and Sour chicken was so crispy and Juicy. Every bite of the chicken was crispy. Ordered the Chicken Fried rice and the Rice was crispy and somewhat spicy which was a nice/beautiful surprise. Im allergic to seafoods and asked for shrimp to be taken off and they took off the shrimp like i asked. Everything was just 10. Im going to order again soon

Ordered the lemon chicken and sweet & sour ribs with chicken fried rice and lo mein. This place was amazing. Food came hot and fresh. Driver was kind and helpful. I can't rave about this place enough. Everything was delicious. Will order again. Thanks bunches chef express.😋😋😋

My boyfriend and I ordered from here a few nights ago, and it was the best Chinese food I've had in a very long time. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The lemon shrimp is delicious! 😋

I don't know what these other people are complaining about on these google reviews. I've never had a problem with this place. There's no "maggots" in my food and I feel like these people are trolls. Sure the service is slow, but that's to be expected on Friday/Saturday nights. The food is also lava hot and you have to wait for it to cool down before even eating it. I wouldn't recommend the spring rolls as I opened my box and it looked like it was literally rolled in salt, and yes, it was very salty... I like the hours that this place is open because some nights I really do crave Chinese fast food.

Best food experience ever. Free parking, great prices that’s hard to find anywhere else, great taste, great packaging, big wide menu and the best part: they are open longer than any other take out restaurant in the whole city! The place doesn’t seem like much but come on : the secret is in the food and the price of it and it’s way worth the wait.

Best Chinese in town! Shrimps are fabulous. Curry was fresh and tasty. Food was quick and hot! And the crab rangoon actually had crab in it not just cream cheese. Will only order there. :)

Ordered food from here a few days ago and... how can I say it, it was the best food in the city anytime 4 pm or 4 am and the delivery driver very calm very cool and extremely helpful and nice. quick delivery even when busy. the restaurants name should be five stars.

Amazing Chinese food! Spring rolls are to die for �

We have ordered from them lots. We have tried appetizers,pizza,Chinese. We like everything we have tried so far. It's also awesome that they are open late 7 days a week!

Order crab rangoon and received the wrong order call the lady at the restaurant told her we had the wrong order she said we were wrong and insisted that nothing would be done about it and now and now they have lost two customers was extremely rude. And hung up on us. Long time customers gone.

After a bad experience two weeks ago I decided to go hunting for good Chinese food again. I came across an add for Chef Express and was surprised to see that they were open until 6:00 am. It was Friday, 11:30 at night and choices are limited for any kind of food in Saskatoon so I placed an order for pickup. I arrived at their shop about 20 minutes later. <br/><br/>I ordered Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls, Deep Fried Shrimp, Special Shanghai Noodle and my favorite dish (if its done right) Spicy Ginger Beef. I knew my wife would be shocked at the near total absence of vegetables but I was looking for hard-core, satisfying yummy after a really tough week. <br/><br/>I was really surprised…everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The Special Shanghai Noodle had the perfect amount of cooking and a wonderful black bean sauce. The shrimp were light and had some nice snap when you bit into them. The Ginger Beef was really, really good. Lots of beef and ginger flavor, plenty of heat (I asked for really spicy and got it). The key to Ginger Beef in my opinion is getting that crispy beef texture and then just enough sweet to make the heat worthwhile. I loved it. <br/><br/>The chicken balls were pretty standard fare and I think I only ordered them to make sure I had some extra sauce on hand.<br/><br/>The Spring Rolls were hot, crispy and tasty. Some places go crazy with the Chinese 5-spice powder, Chef Express kept it pretty tight. <br/><br/>Great experience and will definitely be back again to see if this was first-timers luck. Keep it up Chef Express!<br/> <br/><br/>Follow up experience - 2 months later.Decided to try the pizza. <br/><br/>I would describe it as 'OK' at best. The crust was the real problem for me as it tasted like one of those precooked crusts you can get at most food stores. Really not great. The toppings were reasonably good though I had one pie with extra cheese and I think both got the same treatment. I'll come back again for the Chinese food but not the pizza. These guys need to stick with their strengths.

Great food.. Will be going back..,,The shrimp was done perfectly.. I see a lot of bad reviews but I always get mine delivered hot and fresh..

Shrimp were not de-veined this occurred in both the special wonton soup and deep fried shrimp.. deep fried shrimp arrived in open container when we received out delivery. The only saving grace is the crab ragoon were good. We won't be back.

I should have listened to all of the other negative reviews. They were right. Horrible Chinese food! The sweet and sour pork with pineapple was so tough and they put so much sauce on it, it was like eating a container of sugar. And, I ordered the mushroom mixed vegetable because I love mushrooms, but their was hardly any mushrooms and so much broccoli and onions, that I should have just ordered the regular mixed vegetable for cheaper. My husband said that we should have just eaten dog food, and it would have been better. And, my husband thought that a bum was delivering the food, he was so dirty. We ordered from here before and was hoping that it was just an off night, we were wrong! I would have to be comatose to eat this food.  Only eat here if you love horrible Chinese food.

Was having a lazy Saturday so decided on takeout. Spouse flipping through the phone book came across this place. <br/>I had been talking about wonton soup for quite some time. So decided to give it a whirl. We also ordered ginger beef and chicken chow mein. <br/>The soup was loaded with wontons. Which isn't a bad thing for some but I enjoy the broth too. <br/>The ginger beef (hot) the sauce was tasty but the beef was overly dry/crispy. Not sure the exact texture.. <br/>The chow mein was made with thick noodles. It was ok. <br/>The lady who answered the phone and took my order was very friendly and accommodating. <br/>Spouse said this is their new favourite. Myself I would eat it again but can't say it's my favourite. <br/>

It depends on what you order but this place definitely has some hidden gems. The Chinese food is pretty standard, good but not great and I've never tried the pizza but this one time I had an intense craving for crab rangoon so I ordered it and it was SO DAMN GOOD. I didn't think I would ever say this and don't tell my grandma that I did but it might even be better than Genesis. Get drunk, stumble downtown and order the crab rangoon people, it will blow your mind.

Best called when drunk. You ever hear that saying, "things taste better, seasoned with hunger" before? Kind of the reason you don't go grocery shopping on an empty stomach, you'll buy junk you don't need. Similarly, with a generous sprinkling of prohibition era cheer, you may, at some point in your life, full of excitement and a wavering quality of judgment, decide to order from Chef Express.<br/><br/>Its not that it's really bad, as much as it is just...not so good. Pizza is often burnt, ever so slightly. Ordered some fettucini alfredo once, and it was incredibly bland. Surprising, since Asia is supposed to be a land of spices. If they got an italian dish wrong, you'd think it's 'cause the cook added too much spice, not no spice! Even the kitchie dishes like mixed vegetables are a little watery and lacking in flavour.<br/><br/>Chicken is always overcooked and dry.<br/><br/>Pork is always overcooked and dry.<br/><br/>If you've got nowhere else to order from, McDonalds is too far away for you to both walk, AND drunkenly remember where you're going half way, and your cupboards don't have something in them that could at least be mistaken for food, then order from Chef Express. Otherwise...well, you can cut mold off of those older things you've got kickin' around, right?

Pretty damn good.. This is not a restaurant that you would go to sit down and enjoy a meal. It is a restaurant that you would get takeout from. And I must say that it greatly surpassed my expectations and I am rather impressed. You get a lot of food for a cheap price. That food is also very good. It is definitely not the best Chinese food in town but the restaurants long hours, cheap price, large portions, good food and very quick cooking time (15 min) make it a worthy opponent for any other Chinese food restaurant in the city.

My roommate and I were looking for somewhere to sit down and eat a little later in the evening. We were craving an Asian dish and we just couldn't find anywhere that wasn't take out; we were very happy that Chef Express was open late. We went in and had a dinner for two; chicken fried rice, chow mein and sweet and sour pork, we also ordered delicious spring rolls, and a big bowl of deluxe won ton soup. The food was delicious and well presented, and the service was great! We are so full!!

Late night delivery :). So I'm definitely a night owl and I love Asian food but I always seem to miss out because I work night shifts and usually want dinner around 11pm. So when I found this place was open and delivered late I was excited, but hesitant because I've had some seriously nasty Asian food delivered late at night. I order dinner for 1a (sweet and sour pork, fried rice, chicken chow mien, and an egg roll), ginger chicken, and almond gai ding. First off the dinner for one surprised me it was 10$ so I expected it to be just a taste of everything but it is a big portion! I was really impressed everything was delicious and the vegetables were fresh and crisp, which I love. My only little negative was the ginger chicken was a little overcooked, next time I think I would get ginger beef instead. But it was still tasty! I'm ordering from there tonight on my lunch break! Yum yum.

Very delicious. This was our first time ordering from Chef Express and it won't be the last. The Chinese food was hot, fresh and tasty. I ordered online via skip the dishes before they opened and asked for a delivery time of 5:00pm. The food arrived at 4:45 by a courteous driver. Will have to try the pizza next time.

Awful....confusing....long wait time and just bad food....overall experience has left a bad taste in my mouth.<br/>Had a groupon for 40.00 and they still charge delivery even though usually ordering 15.00 of food gets you free delivery. FINE. Called in my order and they tried to charge me almost 8.00 extra for an XL pizza, that according to there website, was 13.95. FINE they said they would honour the website price but would be charging me an extra 10% for the other items because their online prices are different than their website prices which are even different still if you phone in. WHATEVER. Waited an hour and 15 for the food and my husband answered the door not really knowing what I had ordered. Well inszead of an XL vegetarian they brought us a lg all meat and a large hawaiian. We also ordered the pad thai which way completely bland, and exceptionally dry. Also ordered chicken chow mein......ewwww, mistake! A huge mass of wet tangled noodles. Also,not the noodles you would expect. At this place you should expect overcooked Shanghai noodles in your chow mein dishes. Finally, had a caesar salad. Even this was sad as it was mixed witj a large amount of simulated/ artificial bacon bits. Honestly, full price, half price, groupon or free DON'T ORDER or EAT HERE. It does not taste like a CHEF made anything. And the express? Be prepared to wait over an hour. So very disappointing.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS. Ever look in the fridge and say, hmm, then look at the menus and still say, hmm? Picked up the menu from Chef Express and saw they had a Seafood Pizza on their list and well it was Friday and it was NOT in the fridge so order it I had to do. No green peppers of course and it was truly amazing, it arrived in about 40 minutes and the driver was pleasant as was the lady I spoke with on the phone. I was expecting a greasy pizza, however I was wrong, although there was quite a bit of cheese and ranch so it was far from dry. I am now looking forward to trying some of some of the other items on their menu and judging by the other reviews, it seems this place is destined to be a hit for a long time. Thanks go to the staff for making this Friday very pleasant and Tasty to boot.

Only went to this place because I bought a groupon and thought I'd try something new. Ordered pad Thai and Thai red curry. The pad Thai was not tasty at all, I couldn't eat it. The red curry was just okay. I don't think I will order from here again though.

Good was good, cheap, and fast, but I don't think they are really prepared for dine in yet.

Awesome late night pizza!. We ordered this pizza when all the other pizza places we knew were closed. I was a little leery about it, but the delivery was prompt (even at 2 am), the delivery driver and restaurant order person were friendly, and the pizza was delicious! Seriously. So good.

What a great found!!we were staving at 3am in the morning after work and found this restaurant is still opening,so we gave it a try,i also found they got pizza and chinese on the menu,so i ordered a little bit of everything.and man,the food were delicious,and the delively was faster than i thought it would be,that was awesome that having all these in the middle of the night,will definitely order here again!!!

Ok I know this is my 3rd review but my husband and I ordered pizza from them the other night. Ridiculously amazing! The crust is so good and quality of toppings and cheese... Wow! This time we tried the bacon mushroom melt and the Thai coconut curry pizza honestly I've tried 4 different kinds of gourmet pizza from there and everytime I'm so impressed!! My husband also really likes that thing they put in to keep the crust crisp and prevents it from getting soggy. Fantastic!. I am amazed at the reviews here. We purchase the Groupon deal for $29 worth a food. A ton of food! More than enough for four people. Fresh, hot, very tasty! The curried chicken is fantastic, very gingery. We're eating it as I write this review and everyone is blown away by the knock out flavor. Really sweet people running this place. Wouldn't hesitate to order again. Unless the cooking is incredibly inconsistent, then I'm shocked at the negative reviews. I wish the family who runs this much success as we enter the Chinese New Year. Keep up the great cooking! (and no, I'm not a relative!)

Decent food. Ordered a meal for 2 on a Groupon. Lots of food. Crab Rangoon was great, if you don't mind it cold. I really liked the yellow curry chicken.

Easily the most disgusting food I have ever eaten. The yellow curry was three small potatoes with a couple chunks of boiled chicken sitting in a bowl of oil with a mild hint of curry flavour. Absolutely inedible. The pad Thai was marginally better but tasted like it had been made the week before. I will NEVER eat their food again.

Best Thai pizza ever. Ordered a Thai coconut curried chicken pizza, it's the best pizza ever, love it! I ate it all by myself and still want more :) Thanks for the great food!!

Good food, bad pizza. My company had this place cater our lunch and the chinese food was pretty good. Then they catered again only pizza and it was terrible! Actually, probably wouldn't have been too bad if they didn't over cook it by an hour. Even on the photo you can see how burned the cheese is... look at it !! It's dark dark dark brown, haha. I guess you know it's cooked.. so dry and nasty. My son couldn't even eat it, we ended up going to chillies after a free pizza meal that we couldn't eat. They should stick to Chinese food.

Not good at all. First thing, our order took one hour and 45 minutes to arrive. The delivery person was a smoker, so the bag STANK of cigarette smoke. Whatever, if the food is great who cares.<br/><br/>The food was not great. Not even good.<br/><br/>The crab rangoon were tasty, but of course cold. The rest of the food was still warm, amazingly. The ginger beef was TOUGH. The mixed veggies and special shanghai noodle were OK, not much meat in the noodle and it was all very overcooked. <br/><br/>The most amazingly bad thing was the chicken balls. Each chicken ball was HUGE and had a TINY piece of chicken in the middle. I posted a photo of one. <br/><br/>We won't be ordering again.

I was very happy with their Chinese dishes and will order again. Good quality. Fried rice was somewhat bland though. I absolutely loved the Thai red curry with chicken, it's the best I've ever tasted. I was very impressed with their delivery time as I live at the edge of the city and they were here within 45 minutes of me ordering. This is the best place for late night food in town and I will be recommending it.

Disappointing. I ordered some takeout for guests and myself last night and was rather disappointed. The ginger beef was dried out little strings of something not recognizable as beef. The sweet and sour lemon chicken was breaded/deepfried and tough to chew. The chicken fried rice was steamed rice that had a bit of soya sauce mixed into it, but was very clumpy and bland - I doubt that it had been through a "frying" process. In the entire container, there were perhaps 5 bits of chicken, 2 peas and 3 cubes of carrots. It may have been an off night for the restaurant, but I won't be ordering again. <br/><br/>To their credit - the delivery was within the time range they gave and the food was hot.

Unreal chinese for a place open so late, really nice people they just need a call bell or something.

Very Good. For a late night restaurant one would think that the quality of the food would be sub par. However I was amazed at what I received from here in the early evening. I bought the groupon for the Chinese dinner and was very happy with the food. Their crispy ginger beef is excellent and likely a dish that I would order again and again. If you are craving a delicious experience then I would recommend you give it a try.

Pizza is so fine, it's breathtaking... Tried the Thai Pizza, fell in love.. But order before you go there, because it will be like a 30 minute wait. Holla back..

Good food with room to improve. Ate at this newly opened place last night with my wife. I should say the food was generally good and tasty but with room to improve, environment was fabulous. I was actually impressed with their service, fast, polite, sometimes this count the most to us. For a newly opened restaurant, I'd say, they are not doing too bad. I will definitely go back!

Good food, good atmisphere, fantastic location, I wasent that hungry so i orderd some spring rolls i must say there where mouth watering, after i had some spring rolls my stomach began to growl I became interested in trying some more of there food selection so I ordered sate chicken rice noodle soup and i got to say it was really good. I will be comming back for sure
