Review The Upstairs Fondue & Wine Restaurant - Saskatoon

We stopped by at this place for lunch recently and our experience was great! Our server was very attentive and served us very well during the visit. I had one of their pizza and the soup and it was tasty and filling! Price was generous and their location is conveniently located across Midtown.

Absolutely amazing gluten free eatery! Having everything be gluten free is such a nice change for a celiac to find. The service was awesome, thanks Jonah! The chicken fig pizza was perfect and the chicken bowl was awesome, for sure will be coming back, especially for the cool cocktails! Thanks guys :)

On our impromptu roadtrip to Saskatoon, this was our first stop and we were impressed! Beautiful ambience, wonderful food and lovely host! The best organic, locally sourced ingredients served with so much love! The awesome part is the overall experience. Its rare to find balance between fine dining, right ambiance, taste and health, somehow these guys have it perfectly nailed! Must try!

Food is great. But service is awful. Lunch took 45 minutes to come out. Restaurant at best 40% full.

Best brunch I've had in YEARS. Fresh ingredients, great presentation, ridiculously delicious. Organic eggs, gluten free bread, super boary boar bacon. Perfect meal!

Absolutely loved Leyda's cafe! Had brunch there on Sunday morning and the menu was amazing, plenty of plant based and organic options, mimosas(which seems a little challenging to find apparently), the presentation is impressive, the staff is very friendly and the vibe of the place is very relaxing and enjoyable. Good prices too. Definitely going back soon!!

I was by myself and wanted good quality real food, meat and vegetables and low carb. I'm rarely on Saskatoon and after wandering around a bit and dismissing several options, I found myself on the other side of Midtown, parked and walked. Within 10 feet I got asked for spare change (who carries change anymore?) but no worries, I never feel threatened or insecure with that. Across the street I spotted a restaurant announcing "gluten free / whole food" and something else which I don't remember. I'm in! I was not disappointed. The place had a beautiful open environment and includes a large patio. I chose to sit inside. I ordered coffee, which, to my surprise, was French press. For my light and late lunch I chose calamari which... well I should let the photo tell you, came beautifully presented with a pile of steamed kale, lemon wedge, sesame seeds and a peach? jam with julienned carrots and onions all served on top a plate of black slate. I ate every morsel! Lovely! What a treat!

I really wanted to like this place -- the food is locally sourced for the most part (what they say anyway), and it offers a variety of options for those with dietary constraints. The food though... It was just bland. There was little to no condiment on it, and the components for the sandwich weren't marinated enough. I may try and give this place another go at another point in time, but for now I'll have to skip it. Nosh, if it was still around, blew Leyda's out of the water on flavour. Edit to Respond to Owner: I'm not entirely sure why google won't allow me to respond to the owner comment, unless I'm just blind and can't see it. These images are older images I had lying around and wanted to post, however, I have been to the restaurant within the past month. Thank you anyway.

Service wasn't the greatest, neither was the food. Our glasses were empty most of the night and got refilled maybe twice over the course of 2.5 hours; it wasn't a busy evening in the establishment. Both of the soups tasted the same when they shouldn't have (one was mushroom and the other was tomato chickpea). They give you very little cheese for the cheese fondu. Meat portions were good for the main though. The only reason I would ever come back here would be for dessert. We had the smores chocolate fondu and it was really, really good. Overall, over priced and mediocre service.

I don't like to give such low ratings but for the quality of the services and price it is warranted.

First the service, when we first arrived it was not that busy, maybe four tables. We made the mistake of telling the server we were not in a rush, we didn't expect that to mean being forgot about . It should be noted the server was not rude but no quality to the service. We were regularly waiting for drinks or having to ask and the topper was when the wine came having to open the bottle ourselves.

When we said we were not in a rush we didn't expect to wait 30-45 mins between courses and be at the restaurant for three plus hours. When we asked for a little faster service the server said she was waiting on the kitchen. What is there to wait on, everything should be prepared before hand and we are cooking the food, what is there to wait on?

The food itself was average, we could do it at home for under half the cost, for the price there are a lot better options in Saskatoon.

I'm just not very enthused by this place. I really like the idea but the way it is done just isn't working for me. The service is really slow without reason. The fondues are very uneven in terms of both quality and temperature. The dippers are ok but again uneven quality.

I really didn't care for Ufondue. The traditional Swiss cheese fondue was terrible. It had too much of a wine taste. It took quite a while to even receive our fondue. I thought that was strange since it is not a difficult process and there were only 2 couples in the restaurant. The bread did not taste very fresh either. For the high price, it's not worth it. Even for a low price it isn't worth it! I may give this place another try for a chocolate fondue, but for everything else I am not coming back.

Well my lady chose to NOT let me know where we were going to celebrate?? me getting another year older last Thursday although she had been here previously and we had spoken about it a few times. There is no way I can truthfully describe just how delightful the experience was dining here. Yes, having her with me was superb as was the fact she knew what a fondue was all about. I had heard of them but not a clue as to how to enjoy them. Anyhow, I wish I could have written the name of the server down as he was almost the highlight of the evening with his humor, and his making sure each and everything was just to our liking. In my opinion, this is a Special Occasion place rather than a " Oh Gee it's Thursday, or Monday, let's go". No make this a Special Place and know like I do that we will be back and I am quite sure You will return as well. Maybe he will flambe the chocolate for You as well. WELL worth the time to relax and enjoy. Don't think You must wait for Your next getting older special day, Treat Yourself and Your Somebody Special.

Great. Excellent service, good portions, and very individual and unique dining room. I really love fondue now and will, be trying it at home.

Alright but expensive and worst service we have had in a long time. Had a 9:15 Rez last night for four, we got there and were told it was going to be a little wait...A manager? directed us to wait in the lounge and asked the waitress to get us a drink, we waited in the lounge for over 30 minutes, the waitress then took our drink order but shortly after we were taken to our table where we waited another 20 minutes for our drinks to even get to our table, the soup we ordered was colder then room temp, we sent it back and it came back exactly the same, we were almost ignored the entire night and overall had really bad service, seeing that everything took so long to happen during the meal we were there late, like 12:30ish and they actually seemed annoyed that we took so long, the bill for the four of us came to almost $400, and for the service that we received that is really just a disappointment. We won't be returning to this restaurant.

U fondue. Eh! Certainly not a high lite in Saskatoon. Very average food unless you count the Salad!
Jlu
Just WOW....terrible meal. .... Just WOW....terrible meal.

Greek salad option was all cucumbers and green peppers with the exception of two slices of onion and two wrinkled halves of cherry tomato. Approx 5 little cubes of feta and little to no dressing. Not the color or flavour I would expect out of a Greek salad.

We had the bacon cheese fondue. It was meh....lacked flavour and temperature controls were out of whack. We had to keep turning the heat up after they walked away cause they kept turning it down. Bread was ok. Vegetables were more green peppers and cauliflower stocks. No broccoli even...

Mail course....just weird. I don't get that they serve pirogies and sausage. In our opinion we found that kind of cheap and tacky. The chicken, beef, pork, shrimp were all sliced either incredibly thin or were quite small. This caused the meat to stick to the oil pot. The waiter I believe sensed that we were not too impressed with the temperature controls, so they brought a hot stone in addition to the oil pot. Stone did not stay hot enough to cook anything. Had to cook further in oil to ensure we wouldn't get sick from undercooked meat.

The oil itself in the pot and on the rock lacked flavour.

We were also surprised that no local/wild game was offered. For the price I would have expected to see elk, deer, moose, ostrich, bison etc etc

94$ for two people before beverages is way too high of a price for the quality of this meal.

The turtle chocolate was delicious but lacked options to dip...not even any pineapple. Considering "Blossoms" is downstairs (like an "Edible Arrangements") I would expect more variety and something kind of funky for presentation.

We will not recommend this place to anyone and will not be going back.

Save your money and take a trip out to Grizzly House in Banff. They know how to do it right.

Food was good. Dips need better selection ..service not good. Waitress never gave us plates. We had to use saucer plates for all the courses .. no fork ..had to use the same fondue fork ..which was very hot in dipping in the chocolate

Ufondue. Great place to relax and have a great supper with friends. Nothing like it in the city. Amazing selection and great food.
Wwolitski
Probably won't go back. Had an evening here with friends it is a very poor set up. You should have option to cook with both stone and oil at each table. We had a stone on one table and oil on the other and we couldnt share without actually swapping these hot items. The stone also didn't stay hot long. Found it to be over priced for what you got , thank goodness for the chocolate fondue helped to satisfy your appetite which the entree does not. Also they were out of white chocolate ..... Is this not a fondue place ..... Go figure

Awesome!!!. The server was Wonderful, the food was Delicious, the atmosphere was very cozy, it was a perfect couples night out. It was pricey, although I haven't been to any other fondue places to compare, but pricey compared to other restaurants in the city. The amount and types of food you got was worth it though! Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Highly recommended!. We went to Ufondue for our Xmas party. The service was humorous and attentive , the food was plentiful and the atmosphere and music were great. Highly recommended for Xmas parties as they are very accommodating.

Great food, nice evening. The service was fantastic, great food. I love to fondue and this was great. Very reasonably priced compared to other fondue restaurants we have gone to. Highly recommended.

Great food, drink and ambiance.. Repeat visit to this gem for great fondue, drinks and service.
This place is great for get together with friends or a cozy date night.
Never rushed and attentive staff makes for a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Will be back for more.

Chocolate Fondu^e Rocks. I was in Saskatoon for a meeting. 4 of us from work went here for supper. It was fantastic. I have been to the melting pot in Edmonton and a few places in the US. This was better. They had a smaller selection of wine and cheeses but more chocolate and meats. It was also a lot cheaper than fondue I have had before. The ceiling was really different and the service was great.

Great place for a first date. Went their on a first date. We sat for 4 hours and we thoroughly entertained the whole time. The server was great , the atmosphere and food made for a great evening.

Great Dining Experience. Had a fabulous night out! The food and service was excellent - the variety was exceptional. Tom the owner, went out of his way to make the perfect evening.

Simply amazing evening. This restaurant is clearly my new favorite!! Amazing service, delicious and visually pleasing food, I felt so welcome and taken care of. The evening was shared be a friend and I, with us partaking in the Swiss cheese fondue and milk chocolate coconut fondue for dessert. My tastebuds loved every minute!!! Such a pleasant evening of visiting and enjoying such a tasteful treat. I will quickly come back, and invite others to join me!!! Tom is such a gracious and generous host - Thank you again for such an amazing evening!!

Nice night out. We go to UFONDUE for all our special occasions and when friends come in from out of town. The service is the best in the city and we have always had a great time and experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone to anyone that wants a nice unique e ending out.
Zoey.grennel
Really Neat. Really excellent service, lots of food, Cheese fondue is awesome. They always get it right, we always leave full and they have 2 of the best servers in the city. You won't be disappointed. Allow for a few hours and you have to go hungry or you will never have room for the Chocolate Fondue.
Brinnaolsen123
Best in Saskatoon!. The Upstairs and Carver's were the highlight of our trip. Our service was great, we laughed the whole time. The food was great value (incredible cheese fondue). The wine was the cheapest I have ever seen at a high end restaurant. Our kids just loved the ceiling and the server. We will be back next time we are in Saskatoon.

Great place to celebrate anything!!. We go to U fondue for several of our special occasions. The choices are great! From cheeses, meats, veggies and chocolate. It is all there. Previously we found it was a little smokey but they have since looked at after that. Add a bottle of wine and the experience is memorable and unique. Speaking of Unique, we had the opportunity to try crocodile...Mmmmm tasty!!

A wonderful experience. It's a great place for a date night, celebrating a friend's birthday, or just to go out and treat yourself. The atmosphere and decor are so unique and inviting. The moment you step inside, you instantly feel relaxed. The ceiling is one like no other and the choice of music really helps set the mood. Everything is very clean and tidy; your server takes great care to make sure that your table is always clean for each course. The food is presented in such an appetizing and tasteful manner that you almost feel bad eating it. You get to cook your food however you prefer it, which really adds to the experience and makes your night unforgettable. The servers are ever so friendly and constantly running up and down a flight of stairs with trays full of food. They're upbeat and entertaining as they do all they can to ensure your evening is a pleasant one. On top of what UFondue already offers, they sell Blossoms! A Blossom is an arrangement of fruit that can be ordered for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and get-wells.

Really neat. This was a great experience. The servers were friendly and ran everywhere. We went with 4 people and it took about 2.5 hours. The time just flew by as we were always doing something. The ceiling , music and atmosphere was truly unique and comfortable. We saw a few reviews mentioning not enough food, which was not the case in our situation, as we had lots of unbeaten food at each stage of the fondue. Our server explained that the way it works everyone gets the exact same and they bring up extra portions of certain meats and unlimited potatoes, vegetables and fruit for the chocolate. Some people are just never happy and feel the need to whine about things. This place is highly recommended and we will be returning.

Overpriced, Yet Cheaps Out on Ingredients. When this place first opened, it was fantastic. You got good breads with the cheese fondue, and lots of great things to dip. The last two times I went, however, the quality and quantity of dipping ingredients was down, and the price was up. For the cheese fondue, there were no promised veggies. The bread claimed to be a baguette, but it looked and tasted like a cheap chopped up hot dog bun. And that was the only option. The main, hot stone course was good, but we didn't get as much meat as we used to. The chocolate fondue tasted like it was made with cheap chocolate, and was overly sweet, even for a chocolate fondue. To top it off, all we got to dip in the fondue was a piece of hard, mouth-scratching rice-crispy cake (because I wanted mouth-scraping sugar to dip in my sugar?), one strawberry, and a heap of banana slices. For the price, it would have been nice to get, say, a second strawberry. Or maybe a grape. Or something that isn't the cheapest fruit in the store.

When paying SO much for a meal, I expect a lot better, and I will never be back.

In addition, I used a Groupon, and was told that people with groupons had to get the full 4 course meal. This was not a term of the deal, but we were forced to spend the extra money and get food we didn't want, instead of being allowed to pick and choose from the menu as we expected.

This is my second review of this restaurant which I felt was necessary given the experience we had the other night we were there. We had a reservation for our party of 11 for 7:00. The restaurant seemed busy and maybe there was a lack of servers which would explain the lack of good service we received. Our server kept forgetting our drink orders. We had to order our drinks at least twice every single time. Our pitcher of water was dry pretty much the entire night. Our group was spread across 3 tables. Each table opted for the hot stone as a cooking method for our food. We were informed minutes before our entrees were to arrive that they were out of hot stones and we had to choose a different cooking method. This was completely unacceptable considering we had reservations and therefore they should've been more prepared. To top this off, only one of our tables received the side of potatoes that are promised with every meal and one of the side dishes that were purchased separately did not even make it to our table. In addition, they ran out of one of their wines. Quite the let down when you spend $100 for a meal for 2 and only get a portion of it. Again, I am extremely disappointed with our experience here this last time. I have a $25 groupon which I purchased for here and forgot to use. Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever get a chance to use it given the fact that I don't think we will ever come back here again. There's so many good restaurants here in Saskatoon now that I wouldn't waste your time going here when you can go somewhere else. So UFondue. I really want to like you but you've made it pretty hard.

Seriously the best thing I've ever eaten. Was a great experience despite being told to expect to wait for your food & leave hungry it was to quite the contrary! We left so full and the bill for 2 people was very reasonable compared to any other dining establishments! I'll definitely be returning & telling everyone about how great it was. The bacon cheddar fondue was the best cheese concoction I've ever tasted, meats on the hot rock was a new experience and the flaming turtle chocolate really was everything it was lived up to! Yum, quick & so full! Very happy with my experience!
Lee Laughren
Cooked with stone, some substations compared to their web site. Didn't like the sausage, rest was just ok. Bacon cheddar tasted off to begin with more we ate was fine but were starving at the beginning. Flaming turtle was the best part, desert items kind of cheap. Overall was ok, kind if pricey for what you get so likely not going back. Also the steam from one of the pots burned my wrist as they had way at too hot and steam boiling out from the bowl. Was a bit upset, all she did was say I should of turned it down earlier.
Mandy B
We have been here 3 times over the past 4 years, my husband even proposed here! We love it!! Only thing is that the menu has not changed from 5 years ago!
Jayjay
I went with a groupon. The service was a little on the slow side. It is a slightly leisurely place. So if you don't have time, don't go here. I was slightly upset as the groupon led me to believe it would be enough for a meal for two. However, be quite aware that the cost will be extra if you have a Groupon. Average meal for two will be over $100 for more than one course. I enjoyed the novelty, but I could probably do the same thing at home for under $50.

Great Service. Our Server Daniel was fantastic, food was good with a great atmosphere. Really enjoyable evening

Best night we had. The Service was exceptional, the atmosphere and decor were unique. Not really one to fondue but the group we were with enjoyed this very much. This was the cheapest and best value meal we had in Saskatoon as we were there 4 hours and they brought up a lot of extra food when we asked.

I found this place way to expensive and not enough food for what u paid for this place has a bad smell is not a clean place the owner was rude my friend dont recomend this place
Miss_S
Loved it!. I had a great time, great waiter. It was a fun experience but if you want it to last I would suggest going with the hot oil to cook the main, the hot rock ends pretty quickly and you have to cook everything at once. Will definitely be returning. Just lots of fun!
Matthew Argent
Terrible service, mediocre food and everything including the menus had a sticky film covering it. The floors were sticky with oil residue. Way overpriced. Will not go back.

Always Awesome!. I recently hit Ufondue again with a good friend. I think my favourite part of my experience here is the ambiance. I always feel relaxed and welcome when i come. I enjoy the pace - no one rushing me in our out. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to help out, answer questions, and play around with the menu a bit to perfectly suit my impulses of the evening. You get the sense that the staff enjoy working there - which tells a lot!
As for the food - delish! We had the swiss cheese fondue which i LOVE, then a chocolate fondue - all so good! I only wish i had a bigger appetite as we couldn't manage to finish what we were served! The wine this evening was really really good too! We had the German Riesling and loved it! Will be back (sooner than later i hope!)

-----13 Apr, 2013-----

Always awesome. Went with a friend this evening for a cheese and chocolate fondue. The service here is always exceptional! The owner, Tom, went out of his way to make us comfortable. Our servers Catherine and Daniel were exceptional. I love this restaurant and LOVE bringing friends here for the great food, wine, and great experience.
Brad
Cost way too much for what u get. 108$ for my wife and myself and she is vegan so all she got was veggies. I think I would pay 50$ for the meal we got. It was neat to cook your own food and all but when I over cook all my meats because I'm not a great chef, it kind of defeats the purpose. That's my two cents.
Elena Quiroz Trejo
Never going back!!! My girl.... Never going back!!!
My girlfriend and I planned to go for a special date, we booked online that was not a problem and our reservation was at 7 because we know Fonfue takes its time. I have to say we are such fondue fans, this was our first experience in Canada.
When we arrived there was no one at the hostess to receive us, it seemed it was a slow day since they had just one table in the restaurant. We got sit, our server had cero knowledge about the menu, any question we had she had to go back to the kitchen to ask and many of them she didn't have an answer for it and she just acted like if we didn't ask nothing. The first course was a Brocoli Bacon Salad and a Creamy Mushroom Soup that they were amazing, we loved them and it was a good start. Then we waited for 15 min to have the Bacon Cheddar Cheese Fondue that was good, nothing great on it, just good.
We also had a Red Wine Sangria, they don't have it in the menu, but the bar tender was so nice and she agreed to make it after our recipe.
For the entree we had what is in the Featured Evening Out Four Course Fondue that, by the way, had different options in the restaurant menu than the one online, but they agreed to make it like the one online that we wanted. The only thing is that we had to wait for 20 minutes to get it, we were not in a hurry at all, but by this time we were the only table in the restaurant, the bartender left before that time and our server was not in the dining room, so we didn't get our waters refilled, we just waited by ourselves for 20 minutes. The entree was good, we had the lemon garlic cooking style and the homemade sauces were good in flavour. 10 minutes after we received the entree the server arrived with the dessert stuff, of course we were not ready and she set it in the table beside, turned it on and abandoned us there in the dining room again. 20 minutes later she came back to give us our dessert that was already burn because it spent so long in the other burner and she was all dressed to go out, we asked for a coffee, she never brought it, she turn off the music and turn the lights off, it was 9:30 and they are supposed to close at 10:00. By 9:50 she asked for the second time if we were ready and we didn't have other option than ask for the check and leave. For me it was a little overpriced, we paid 140 dollars and it didn't worth the service experience, even when the food was not bad.
Sebastian
Nothing but the price is special.

Add this to your "Must Eat Here" list. Another couple, my wife and I, had the great pleasure to dine here this past Friday evening and all four of us put it on our "we have to come back" list. The food was great, the service terrific, the ambiance outstanding and the price acceptable.
Those who complain about the price should stick to Burger King.

TWO THUMBS WAY UP!!!. Saskatoon, this is the real deal.... a wonderful way to spend an evening dining with great food and conversation. This is "dining", it is "ambiance", it is sitting for 2.5- hours (and guess what, that's going to cost a bit more than fast food for the luxury of having lots of "time"). The 4-course meal came with soup so fabulous that it was better than home-made; a cheese fondue with lovely moist bread and various vegetables to dip; a hot oil fondue with numerous meats, seafood, bacon-wrapped scallops, and half a dozen dipping sauces; and finally a chocolate fondue with an assortment of fruits to dip. The service was great, the decor very nice, and I can't think of a single thing I'd change. This is a very special restaurant that you'd go to for a special date, an anniversary, birthday, or a special event. I've read a few slightly cranky reviews below, and cannot fathom what they're talking about. Some people are just never happy, but I sure was!!! This restaurant is gets TWO THUMBS UP from me!!!!
Tastyproductions
Surprised. After reading all of the reviews, I was really skeptical about this place. But I decided to go and use my DealFind coupon. I took my husband and made it a "date night". I was very impressed. The cheese course came with a good selection of veggies and apples and bread. The cheese was a good quality cheese. We chose to do the hot rock/slab. The waiter warned us to cook our thicker meats first and we didn't have an issue with getting everything cooked before it cooled. The meats were served with a large variety of sauces (like 8). Whether the sauces were homemade or not, didn't really bother me. The chocolate fondue was really good. They will bring you unlimited dippers such as bananas too. Overall, it's a great date night experience. If you cannot handle more than 1 hour with your significant other, then you shouldn't go here. It's a place to go for great atmosphere and great company. Also, they significantly improved their visual appeal of plating. As for the smell that reviewers were complaining about: you are cooking your own food with 10 other tables. What do you expect? It smells like food getting cooked.

I was wary when going here because of the reviews but my boyfriend and I loved it! The bacon broccoli salad was crisp and flavorful. The bacon cheddar fondue was creamy, flavorful and delicious. I am not a mushroom fan, so I was pleased that the mushrooms were in very small pieces and just added a bit of saltiness without being overwhelming. It was served with peppers, zucchini and cauliflower which were all crisp and complimented the cheese. The bread was soft but definitely fresh. For the main course, we chose the "featured night out" with the hot rocks method. We cooked all of our meat first and then the seafood and did not have any problems with the rocks cooling too much. You just have to cook a large amount at one time. The waiter brought us garlic butter to smear on the rock to keep the meat from sticking. This added great flavor. I don't usually like scallops, but the bacon wrapped scallops were tender and not overly fishy. Best scallops I've ever had. The Dijon butter sauce was our favorite. It is fantastic with the beef and pork. For dessert we had the flaming turtle chocolate. It was delicious. It was served with strawberries, pretzels, bananas, pineapple, grapes and melon. My only complaint was that the chocolate was not flambéed as advertised. It was still delicious. To address other reviews: the service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive. We never had a problem with lacking water, as he provided us with a pitcher and filled it periodically. To the reviewers complaining about having to cook their own food: what did you expect at a fondue restaurant? The cooking is part of the fun. If the staff cooked the food, it wouldn't really be fondue style. My boyfriend and I both left full and happy. The food was pricy, but not any more so than a four course meal at any other nice place. The ventilation system had been recently renovated so we had no problems with smokiness. The decor was unique and my boyfriend loved the cool ceiling. This is a restaurant I would gladly go to again for a special occasion. This place was fantastic for our anniversary dinner. It is also worth noting that the menu has changed slightly from what is posted on here. The cheese menu was slightly different. There is a truffle cheese that is not posted on here and the raw milk smoked cheddar was missing.

The Upstairs Fondue Restaurant - 8th Street, Saskatoon, SK. We had heard and read mixed reviews on this restaurant, especially about the lack of service, so we really didn't know what to expect. It was my birthday and the 4 of us had a wonderful time. Our server, Genevieve, was a fantastic young gal. She was very friendly and attentive to us all night, and we even got into a great conversation with her later about Breaking Bad, Dexter and other racy TV series (she was amazed and pleased that "our generation" (Boomers) were so into these shows--ha-ha). We decided on the four-course meal. 1) We started by being offered either the Broccoli-Bacon salad; Greek salad; or soup. Three of us had the Broccoli-Bacon salad which was delicious and one had the Greek salad, which was fine. 2) For our Cheese Fondue, we decided to take the vegan tomato fondue (because one in our group doesn't like cheese much) and it tasted very much like a lightly spiced tomato soup--it came with fresh cut French bread and fresh veggies. It was good. 3) Next came the fun part--the meat and seafood. We chose the pot of vegetable broth for the fondue pot (a friend warned not to get the pot of oil because it splashes--and, well, it is oil, so may upset the tummy a bit). We were also provided with a 2-foot hot rock tray. We were each given 2 long forks and could either place the meat in the broth pot to cook or place them on the hot rocks to cook. The men entirely placed their meat on the hot rocks to cook (likely simulating a man's innate BBQ skills--arr, arr, arr) and we women cooked our meat in the broth pot and on the hot rock tray. There was chicken, pork, beef, bacon-wrapped scallops, and shrimp and 8 dipping sauces. Very good. They also brought out lemon potatoes, which were hot and tasty. Genevieve (our server) brought us more chicken, beef, pork when we asked for a bit more and she also changed the hot rocks a couple of times when they cooled down. 4) The Chocolate Fondue--well anyone with a sweet tooth would love this. We chose the Chocolate-Peanut Butter dip for our fondue pot. There was lots of fresh fruit (and refills too) and it was delicious. All in all we had a fun time and a good visit. We were warned that the 4 course meal was pricy, but we had the $50 Groupon that helped a bit. All told, for booze and food it was about $55 each (Groupon included). We were all really full and satisfied. Remember you don't have to go for the 4-course meal every time. Next time we may just go in for dessert! All in all a good experience for us "old Boomers". Our only complaint was the man who appeared to be the Manager (or maybe the Owner). He seemed rather grumpy and unfriendly—possibly needs a visit from Gordon Ramsay for an upgrade on his PR skills!

Fast and Delicious. We went on a Thursday night at 6pm. I booked online and it worked perfectly. They are very technologically integrated, nice to see!

Although it was hot inside it was nice and cool inside. The service was fast and the Reggae music in the background was a nice change from the typical Top 40 at most restaurants in Saskatoon.

We chose the featured fondue that came with salad or soup, cheese fondue, main course, and dessert fondue. The salads were made of veggie pieces that, although delicious in the salad, also worked for the cheese fondue... good integration there! The smoky cheese fondue had a slight spice to it that we enjoyed. We chose the hot rocks for the main meat fondue. The pros were that we could cook a lot of meat at once and it was neat to watch. The cons were that there was some smoke and afterward we realized we were spattered a bit from all the cooking.

The dessert fondue was AMAZING. We had the flaming turtle chocolate. The server added rum and lit it on fire right in front of us, then mixed it until it was smooth. The caramel, chocolate and pecans were OMG good, and there was a nice selection of fruit, pretzels, and even Rice Crispie squares to dip in it! After we were out of things to dip the server offered to bring more but we just scooped the bit of sauce that was left out on our spoons. NOM!

I would highly recommend this place, summer or winter. They keep it cool enough inside that even in the summer you don't mind cooking right in front of you. The tables are at a nice height for cooking as well.

We'll definitely be back!

Way Overpriced. My daughter and I did the Fondue place for a date night. First there was just the two of us and they weren't going to take us without a reservation, but decided to let us. There were two other tables in there besides us! It goes in four courses: The soup or salad, the cheese fondue , the main and the chocolate fondue. The soup or salad is $6 and $8 dollars and nothing to right home about. The cheese fondue offers very little variety in veggies and old bread and $14! The main is a plate full of meat or seafood of your choice and a side of lemon roast potatoes that are overcooked and cold, for a whopping $86-$139!! per couple. Really!! And you have to cook it yourself, and it has no flavor! They do give you 8 sauces for the meat, which none of which are home made!! Would it really kill them to whip up some good home made sauces, they are horrible. I would never go back to this place, when you think of the meal you could get anywhere else for $50 each! And a real chef would cook it for you!! I do not recommend.

It's all good and u will never go away hungry

Fun fun and fun. I booked a reservation for my husband and myself. The atmosphere was fun, The server was awsome! We ordered the seafood fondue, there was alot of food for two, the champaine with the flower in it was awsome, so fun. Good food, awsome waitor, and overall fun experience! You pay for fun and the experience which was completly worth it! I would defenetly go again.
Food-Mart
Overpriced. Kind of a cool idea, but to cook my own food I felt I paid way too much. When we left we both stunk like the restaurant...not quite as bad as the stink from Subway, but it stunk.

Sizzeling Experience. The Upstairs is a fantastic social dining experience.

Our service from our waiter as exceptional. He was attentive and ensured details like filling glasses and cleaning oil drops was appreciated.

The food was adequate seasoning ok and decent portion sizes (more cheese for the appetizer may have been nice).

I would go to the upstairs again, but likely not for a few years as there are other restaurants that offer more for less.

As a note to the ownership; cracked seats is kind of tacky and needs to be attended to as it takes away from the aesthetic.

Relaxing and enjoyable. Recieved a gift certificate for the Upstairs, so decided to take advantage. Opted for the 4 course meal and certainly can't complain.
Broccoli salad was VERY good, greek salad was fine, glad to see that it was the horiatiki version with a bit of spinach, but thought the dressing was a bit too bland.
Cheese and bacon fondue was very tasty, veggies were fresh and although my personal preference would have been a crustier bread, can't complain about the bread they serve.
Main course was delicious, we opted for the stone cooking. Portions, although not huge were sufficient (neither my husband nor I had lunch, and while not stuffed, we were both safisfied at the end of the meal without asking for any more portions). Ingredients were very good quality. My husband found it a bit smoky for a while (the restaurant was mostly full and I suspect most had made a reservation for 7, so we were all cooking our mains at the same time), but it didn't bother my allergies or asthma at all. Sauces were tasty, and while the stone did not maintain its original heat, it was certainly sufficient to cook our meals with a little patience...after all it is fondue, not fast food.
The chocolate fondue (we opted for dark chocolate) was decadent and quite obviously a high quality of chocolate.
We enjoyed a decent wine with our meal and our server was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and efficient.
Our dining experience took a bit longer than 2 hours and cost $125 (pre gift cerificate)....not something we we do frequently, but a very nice evening and we felt the cost was reasonable for what we recieved.
My only suggestion would be to allow 2 cooking methods for the main...would have liked to try one of the other options (oil or broth), but not necessary for the whole course ...guess there is always next time.
All in all an enjoyable and satisfying

Went with a group of 6. The server explained the menu well and was friendly. It was a unique dining experience but not something I would do often. I found the smell of oil overwhelming and it lingered in my clothes and hair after. Everything tasted good but the chocolate dessert was the best. Price seems to be a bit much but makes sense when you consider the time and maintence it takes.
Some Guy
Some Guy. I really, REALLY wanted to like the Upstairs. I went as part of a group and overall I thought it was a nice place. The prepared dishes were all quite well prepared, the drinks were well made. My problem is with the entire 'fondue' gimick. Maybe I'm just not a good enough afficionado of the art of Fondue, but I found this the least enjoyable part of the experience. The oil wasn't hot enough to actually do more than make the food products more than oily, and the granite slab cooled off way faster than I was expecting. If it wasn't for that, I would have had a much better time.
HiPowered
We visited with a party of 8. Making a reservation was easy, and they were very accommodating of our larger group. When we arrived, the hostess and waitress were helpful and friendly. Our waitress for the night was excellent. She balanced our wants and needs and was always there when needed, but was never stifling. She explained the menu well, and made the necessary accommodations and recommendations for our group. The food was great too. The meats and other morsels were nicely prepared And plated well for fondue cooking. Everything was fresh, and the marinades complimented the fondue perfectly. We cooked with oil at one table, and the hot rock at the other. Everyone at both tables agreed the food and flavor was excellent. The soups were also tasty and interesting. The price seems expensive at first glance, but remember that it's a prix fixe menu. For $40-60/person, the value is excellent in my opinion. You'd pay just as much at the Keg for an app, entree and dessert, but the flavor and fun of fondue makes it absolutely worth it. This is a great restaurant for a special occasion or just a long and leisurely dinner with someone special. I would happily come back.

Dissappointing. After hearing a number of mixed reviews we decided to give The Upstairs a try. While the food was good, everything else was very dissappointing. Service was mediocre, atmosphere is so/so. As I mentioned the food was good, but EXTEMELY overpriced for what you get. We had the 4 course meal ($84/couple) and I estimate the cost of food was well under $15. Never offered another glass of wine, coffee or even asked how the meal was. As we were leaving the Manager was yelling at the kitchen staff asking "What's with the &%$#ing attitude in here tonight" Will not go back or recommend!

A perfect night out. My best friend and I needed a girls night out so we decided to have dinner at the Upstairs . WOW what an experience! The food was very fresh and tasty and the service was excellent.
The entire meal was so delicious right from the salads to the dessert. We had more than enough food with each course.
We chose the hot rock method to cook our main course. Eventhough it was the healthier cooking method, the meat and veggies were very tasty. The dessert was my favourite part. We had the turtle chocolate fondue which came with fruit, rice krispie squares and pretzels for dipping..... this was very sinful.
I highly recommend the Usptairs. My friend and i will definitley be returnng for another night out.

Shocking - 4 course meals aren't cheap!. After reading many complaints, I was hesitant to try this restaurant but decided to go when there was a Groupon.

Yes, it's expensive. What do you expect for a 4 course meal of all you can eat? And yes, this means it takes more time as well. But if a unique dining experience is what you are looking for, it is at least worth a try!

If going, make sure you are hungry! The cheese fondue comes with unlimited veges and bread, the main course comes with unlimited veges, potatoes, and chicken and the chocolate comes with unlimited fruit. And the bread isn't as bad as everyone seems to think. Could be better though.

There are a lot of complaints about the stones and oil burning people, so why not try the ginger wine vege broth? No complaints on this one! It also comes with 6 different dipping sauces to mix flavours.

Overall food was great, service was great and it is nice to have some variety in dining options here in Saskatoon.

Excellent service, great meal. A fun night out. Will definitely return

Once was enough thanks. While we liked the atmosphere at the restaurant once upstairs, it is weird to come in out of an alley, into the backend of a kitchen to go up a dimly lit stairwell (kudos to the servers who live with this situation daily) to your table. The restaurant was not busy although it was a Friday night, and while our service was very good and our serving staff very helpful, the food was simply mediocre until we got to the dessert. When spending $100 for 2 people to eat, (we only drank water, so beverages didn't push up the price of the bill) a meal that is memorable for all the wrong reasons is not what you are looking for. With $100 I could have prepared a weeks worth of memorable meals in my own kitchen for an entire family. The small broccoli salad was limp and certainly could have been enhanced by blanching the vegetable. The sundried tomato and chickpea soup lacked any unique flavour and tasted as though it may have been slightly scorched. The bacon cheese fondue was served with celery, caulifower, zucchini and green peppers and a very disappointing white bread. We had our meat brought ready to cook on the hot bricks, unique, but not enough heat or cooking space for the food that came out. And we are not talking huge quantities of food here... The meat was accompanied by the same bland colour and taste selection of vegetables which had arrived with our cheese fondue, a few tortellini and some lukewarm potatoes. The stones didn't retain enough heat to cook or even warm some of the food.
Sadly the only part of the meal which we could say lived up to any expectations we may have had upon arriving was the dessert. The plate of fresh fruit and pretzels with the chocolate turtle fondue was excellent, the rice krispie cake accompanying it kind of odd...
Thanks, but once truly was enough!

Never again. Where to start? My dinner there was a series of missteps from the beginning. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived at the time of our reservation. They also wanted to split up our party of seven into two separate tables - we refused.

Once seated, we all opted for the hot stone fondue, since one of our tables had no choice. To accommodate our large party, one table had to be moved away from a wall, which meant the electric tabletop burner used for oil or broth fondues couldn't be plugged in.

To start I had the bacon and broccoli salad. While tasty, the broccoli was cold and obviously raw. A slightly tenderized broccoli would have been better. After the salad, we waited what seemed like a good 20-30 minutes before our cheese fondue arrived. We got plates half-filled with bread and were promised that vegetables were on their way. By this time we were so hungry, we scarfed down the bread and cheese in record time. While the smoked cheddar was quite tasty, the promised vegetables never came.

Next was another overlong 20+ minute wait for our main course. We got two types of hot stone grill: one had thick stones that were heated beforehand, and supposedly retained heat for about 20 minutes. The other was one thin slab with burners underneath. The thick stones lost their heat and cooking ability within 5 minutes. We had to wait another 10 minutes before flagging down our server and getting him to bring us the other kind. In the meantime, our dinner companions had been cooking their food, but one of their burners went out. When we got our new stone, we frantically cooked all of our meat before the burners ran out of fuel. So much for a relaxing dinner.

Our dessert course, a chocolate fondue, was fine - although the trainee server forgot to light our fondue candle, forcing us to flag down another server to do it. By the time it was finished, I looked at my watch. We'd been ther for three hours. I never thought it would take so long to eat dinner in a restaurant where there is very little cooking involved in the kitchen! Also, not once did any of the servers ask us if we wanted more wine, nor did they refill our water carafe. I was very thirsty by this time.

The table and my eyeglasses were coated in spattered butter, and my eyes were burning. The cooking smoke just hung in the air - I'm not sure if there is any ventilation in the dining room. My body and clothing stunk like smoke, so when I got home I immediately threw all my clothes (coat included) into the laundry and had a shower.

I was very unimpressed by The Upstairs (the original name of Ufondue at the time of writing). The food was decent but shouldn't have taken so long to arrive, especially since it's mostly prep work. The service was the real downfall, though. The servers were friendly, but disorganized and uncoordinated. Their long absences and inattention to details made it frustrating when problems arose. Therefore, my first visit was also my last.

Good quality food, fantastic service...but you pay for it.. I just have to say that the food quality was excellent here and everything tasted great. For me, this is not an affordable weekly event but I would return on occasion. The service was excellent. I wish there was an option for a less expensive meal for two. Regardless our meal was excellent, service was great, price was a little high.

Once for the experience. Ya ya the price the price... either way you ppl know u have to PAY for fondue. Fondue restaurants are notorius for being expensive because of the expereince and the time you and they spend on your meal service and all.

Im gunna go backwards here.

Dessert fondue: AMAZING... i think we got the turtle choclate one. Deffinatly a good choclate.... the items to dip in were... good... a little confusing and as a self professed food network junkie... plating could really use some work. Make it look like itll be uber yummy or fun to dip and it would take this part a long way. Placeing everything on a side plate dusted with cinnamon not appetizeing looking... remember we ear with our eyes first!

Dinner fondue: We opted for oil. LOL... it was fun i will admit.... we had sirloin scallops chciken and meatballs....next time we are gunna just get 2 full orders of sirloin. the seafood had so much water in it that once thrown in the hot oil the oil would spit at us....dangerously... either way still fun.

Cheese fondue: I was stoked for this one... but let down :( Im a huge fondue fan and we got the garlic and swiss one..somthing along those lines... needless to say... i wasnt impressed and the cheese, sorry to say, wasnt up to par. it jsut wasnt. Not creamy enough, not warm enough, just boring. What further wrecked it for me was the sad display of what we were to dip. The bun looked like a hot dog bun... tasted like a hot dog bun.....sorry manager if you say these are baked fresh get a new baker... terrrrrrible bread... par cooked veggies sure understandable... give more selection than just a mix of boring califlower and brocoli.... some snap peas wouldve been nice some apple slices maybe. And plateing so not appetizeing!!

Server was very nice and good at her job. Atmosphere is deffinatly different and trendy.
Kinda smoky once everyone gets goin with the fondue cooking tho.

So all in all....i have two probelms: PLATING

make it more interesting!!! or i dont want to eat it or pay u $40 to do so cuz i can make it more interesting at home with less work than ur kitchen puts in.

and

OPTIONS

Kick up the options please! I want to dip a couple things not just califlower and pretzels in my fondues

And really change those dam buns... they are so so not good.

Interesting concept and great for any intimate dining requirements, but don't expect to leave full- this may be better suited as an appetizer before the main course restaurant. That said, it is fondue- what could you expect?

I will happily return, but only for the right occasion.
John Smith
The Best!. My favorite restaurant in Saskatoon. Great food, great service, and a very intimate dining experience. Great place to impress a date. Menu is pricey, but you can expect to get what you pay for. Will be back time and time again.
Worra
This is a fun restaurant with very polite and helpful staff. The food was good but very pricy for what you got, still a good place to visit. The only thing our group did not like was the smoke from all of the hot rocks . They need more ventilation. I would go again.
Fondue
Responce by the owner. As the Owner of The Upstairs Fondue & Wine Restaurant I appreciate people reviewing our restaurant for the invaluable information I receive.

Because of the layout of our restaurant and the nature of fondue our servers work harder than any server in Saskatoon. If different service was received I can assure you it had nothing to do with how much you were spending.(we have very few variables on our menu and only a few price differentials). It is most likeley to do with our recent expansion and my inability as the owner to have adequate staff , for which I apologize. We are trying very hard to keep enough quality , friendly servers.

Our servers do not bring fresh pepper to the table as we leave on every table in our restaurant fresh peppercorns and sea salt grinders so customers can help themselves, our servers would gladly grind it for you as well if they are asked.

As to not sharing fondues; we are a relativeley small restaurants that turn away many customers on fridays and saturdays, so the server will have some discretion in splitting fondues on these 2 days , but we will absoluteley allow it on other days. we bring out extra food at every course because we want people to be satisfied, this is why we really want to serve individual fondues on weekends and this is the main reason that fondue restaurants all over North America do not allow odd numbers of fondues to be ordered , they require fondues to be ordered in 2's. This is something we try to accomodate as much as possible but unfortunateley we fail sometimes.

In response to The redneck Gourmet; I am very sorry you did not enjoy your meal. I do feel that you are not being totally accurate in your observations or you may be mistaken. I understand when you spend $40 for a meal and things start to go wrong it can lead someone to be dismissive of the whole evening.

It is not possible to microwave our cheese sauces as we use freash cheeses from The Bulk Cheese Warehouse and a microwave would not be able to consistently melt the cheese in our homemeade sauce.

All our sauces are made on site as well as soups, our vegetables never come from frozen. We get our french loaves from a local baker who has tried many recipes for us and bakes without milk solids to allow vegans to enjoy our fondue as well. We are currently training new staff and sometimes mistakes can happen, we do correct them as soon as we are aware of them. I appreciate the tip on the garbonzo beans and it is a change we will be implementing immediateley as we currently do use canned beans.
We do not cook our vegetables as that is the nature of the fondue to cook your food on our cooking methods. We slightly blanch them to help you cook right through as some people are a little more impatient than others.

We really do want to please our customers , so we try to charge enough so that we can let customers sit for hours, they leave full and they can have exceptional service. The uniqueness of fondue combined with the company you are dining with should be a favourable experience and it is a failure if it is not. If there are any problems I welcome direct contact either by phone 955-6118, or from our website at: http://www.theupstairsfondue.ca
Redneck Gourmet
Consider it a one and out. The Upstairs Fondue & Wine Restaurant, to me, is a paradox.
When I walked in, I saw the cook microwaving cheese sauce. At that sight, I should have walked out and taken a trip down the road to Yip Hong's for some Eggplant Hot Pot (one of my favourite dishes in the world, BTW), but I decided to proceed with the plan.

The first thing I noticed was that the price range was around 40 dollars, which means that my socks better get knocked off. I have consistently been disappointed by the high price range restaurants in Saskatoon. This would prove to be no exception.

I must give it credit. The atmosphere was great. I loved the wavy ceiling, though when my friend nearly banged his head, I found that my hobbit-like shortness was a benefit for such an atmosphere. However, as will be elaborated on later, this quality aesthetic lacked some of the practical basics which are necessary to ensure a fine dining experience.

To the food. As a first course, I tried the sundried-tomato and garbanzo bean soup and my wife had the Greek salad. The Greek Salad was not impressive, it's texture seemed as if it sat in a premade bus bin waiting to be garnished with feta cheese.
The soup was marginally better, with robust tomato flavour. However, the garbanzo's were slightly overcooked and lacked the nuttiness I associate with garbanzo beans, which leads me to the conclusion that they were the blander canned beans. Trust me here, if you soak your chickpeas and boil them, the level of flavour is in another world when compared to the canned varieties.
The second course was, in a word, terrible. The cheese sauces were flavourful but cold (chunks of cold melted cheese in my mouth). Between poorly prepared sauces, overcooked broccoli and cauliflower (again, seemed like it came out of a bus bin prepped days before), and the bread which seemed to be day-old Extra Foods hot dog buns, it was terrible.
Considering that Christie's now has a location two blocks away, perhaps using some of Tracey Muzzolini's superb baguette's is the least I could ask.
Or serving a cheese sauce that was at least warm?
Or serving freshly cooked vegetables?

The third course was better, but not by much. The meat (teriyaki beef tendeerloin) was bland, using garlic margarine was lame (a clarified butter garlic confit, a staple in my fridge, would be highly advisable). The ventilation was weak, only the cold draft from the windows (my wife wore a sweater throughout dinner) prevented us brom being smoked out by the hot stones. The roast potatoes were very good, a nicely balanced act of acidity and saltiness which I enjoyed.

The dessert course was the highlight of the night. I would go so far as to say it salvaged the experience. The chocolate sauces were delicious and the fruit was fresh and aesthetically pleasing in it's presentation, nothing pretentious, just simple foods whose colors themselves do the talking.
I would return for a late dessert and coffee, nothing else.

Interesting Experience, Price is to be Desired. I could rave on and on about the food, but to be honest the food is something that you would go eat because of it's unique experience. Coming here two times, once with my friend and once with my boyfriend, I could certainly tell the difference in waitressing: get the food that's worth more, get served better. Get the food that's not worth that much, don't expect them to frequent your table.

Speaking about the second time that I came here, I will notify everyone of something now: sharing is not allowed. Not a big deal to a lot of people yes, but that's just how it goes. I tried eating the four course dinner with my friend when I went here the first time, but it was much too much food for my little stomach. They WILL let you share singular plates, but not the four course itself. My boyfriend and I were not impressed by this revelation, as it essentially felt like a way of ripping people off.

Four Course Meal:
1) The first course you get is a soup or salad of your choice. I decided to take a chance with the Chickpea and Tomato soup, which had a nice creamy texture to it. A little bit too much Chickpea (kind of overpowered the taste of the tomato), and needed some fresh ground pepper (I'm a fresh ground pepper fan, and I expect "higher" end restaurants to automatically come with a fresh pepper grinder, which they did not). A bit plain for my taste, could have used some fresh herbs such as mint.

2) Second course was a cheese dip, which was lovely. The only thing I appreciated about the price is that they let you have as much food as you need to finish the dip (which in retrospect wasn't as much as I had anticipated, but I digress). The bread had a nice crunch on the outside, and soft chewy inside, which is definitely my favorite when it comes to bread (I'm a bread fanatic)

3) The main course was definitely exciting. We chose the cooking method "on the rocks", which is essentially too extremely hot squares of rock that you cook your food on. They don't give you more of this (you need to pay for more if you do), and on the whole the only thing I found interesting about the main course was the fact that the cooking method was pretty awesome.

4) The dessert of course -- Chocolate fondue! My boyfriend got the milk chocolate fondue, and I the milk chocolate -- And I must say, if I come back to the Upstairs Fondue, THIS is what I would come back for. But then again, you can just buy a fondue pot, fondue sticks and fondue mix and eat at home.

On the whole, I'd say that this is a nice place to eat with friends if you're willing to spend money to sit in an interesting atmosphere (the decor was pretty rad with the lava lamps), but not somewhere you want to go if you want real food.

The service was very friendly, however the food was definitely subpar and very expensive. The cheese fondue tasted like it came from a package and was served with broccoli that seemed as though it had been microwaved from frozen. The starter soup also tasted quite 'processed'. Dinner was about $100 for two (with wine). I was looking forward to a nice dinner out, but left feeling let down and ripped off. I will not be going back.

Good dessert. I'm quite sure the restaurant does not require reservations because there is a sign outside that says "Walk-ins welcome", and we didn't have a reservation when we went.

There are several flavors of dessert fondue to hav ($12); the Turtles was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I enjoyed the dark chocolate. We got enough fruit, rice krispie squares, and pretzels, and were offered more if desired. The chocolate itself was different than fondue chocolate I've had before, as it didn't harden after cooling--it was more like a whipped chocolate dip--tasty though! Service was great. And consider going indoors if there's wind, because your tea-light might go out!

Great place for a date. The Upstairs makes for a really fun date. Go with someone special, and plan to spend 2-3 hours interactively oogling over both the fun food and each other.

Reservations required, as they are fairly small and sometimes full, and because it's way cooler to have a reservation when you are on a date :)
Sadie
Not sure.... We went there last week for supper and ordered the cheese and chocolate fondue. The cheese fondue was good, but it didn't come with all the food to accompany the cheese that it said it was going to. The chocolate was really delicious and so was the food that accompanied it, but again, they didn't bring the variety of food that the menu had said the meal came with. The service was really great, he was very friendly and attentive, but I think it was too expensive. To get some bread, broccoli, fruit, rice krispie squares and some melted cheese and chocolate (and 2 pepsis) it cost us $60. It was a little pricey. I don't think I'd go for supper again, but would definitely stop by for dessert.

Special place for two.... Not being much for fondue, I initially approached this restaurant with some trepidation. However, my date and I were pleasantly surprised by the genuineness of the wait staff (they were very personable and eager to please) and the relaxed, yet intimate atmosphere (we sat in the upper level which is more conducive to an intimate setting).

The food comes in courses. You can choose your vegetables, fruits, meats and cheeses. You can also choose your dipping sauces. (If you and your dinner partners have trouble making decisions, this is not the place for you) You can even choose your method of cooking - traditional sizzle or hot stones (we went with the hot stones and it was awesome).

The meats include beef, chicken, duck, and others and are very good quality - no fat (and I'm picky). The vegetables also include a variety that will please you and are fresh.

For dessert there are a wonderful variety of chocolate mixes and others available. You will not leave hungryll!
Prices are reasonable for the experience.

As a wine lover, I was treated to a good variety, though certainly not exceptional.

Overall, I highly recommend the experience and we will be returning soon :-)
