Review Imperial Court Restaurant - Richmond

Service was phenomenal! They were very attentive and made sure to change our plates often. Good wise I would say it's a little better than what I've had in the states but not that much better. The abalone sauce was a little on the salty side for me.

I notice all the staff here are very friendly. I like the fact that there are Telsa charging stations within walking distance of the restaurant. The quality of the food seems to be fresh and everything we had was tasty. My favorite was their house fried rice. A bit on the pricey side but the theme of the place seems to be an upscale Chinese restaurant( fine dining). The restaurant overall is clean, but the bathroom and hallway need some attention. I will likely dine here again if I happen to charge my car in this area.

This review is about their dinner (as opposed to their dim sum, which I have heard is great too). The food and service for dinner were both memorably great. Their baked tapioca dessert, which you have to preorder, was one of the highlights of the night along with the tender and flavorful abalone. The service was attentive and friendly as well. They put up holiday decorations for December, making the dining experience festive. This restaurant is conveniently located beside Richmond Centre as well, so transit and parking are easy to arrange.

Apparently getting a reservation is a good idea... Even on a Thursday morning at 10 am lol. There was a huge crowd of people waiting to get in. They all seemed like locals as well. That said we got lucky and were seated, and boy was it delicious! Loved everything!

We recently moved to the area from NYC, so our standards for authentic Canto dim sum are high. Food is good quality! The environs are clean and classy. We got a reservation for 10am (opening hour) a day ahead of time, and the place was already packed when we arrived. The cons: the menu is a bit smaller than usual, and prices are understandably higher than usual.

Absolutely one of the best dim sum places in Richmond. A little bit pricier than most but definitely still affordable. Make sure to make a reservation and try out the egg tart! Loved the softness of their steamed short ribs and their beef rice roll.

I have been coming to Kirin restaurant ever since I was a child and I am never ever disappointed by their dim sum. Their ingredients are always the freshest and are so tasty and flavourful. I would highly recommend their shrimp dumplings as they are so succulent and the dumpling wrap itself is not too thick. As for desserts, their durian mochi and egg tarts are always a must-have and my family always makes sure to save a plate for the end. The service is always really attentive as well, always making sure to change the plates whenever they get too full. To anyone who's looking for some of the best dim sum in Metro Vancouver, I would highly recommend Kirin. Make sure to book a reservation as well as they are always busy!

Avoid Sunday night. Toooo long wait for the dishes (>30mins) Taste fair not surprise, high price. And service depends, usually waitress are better than waiters. The fried milk & tofu worth a try 👍🏻

This is the worst restaurant in the Richmond Centre area. There are at least 10 other Chinese restaurants in the area. You don't really need to go to this one.
Most chinese restaurants in the Richmond Centre area offer a 20% discount before 11:00am. If this restaurant do not offer the same 20% discount, they would have no business before 11:00AM..
Liitle know secret, this restaurant charge more for tea per person than other restaurants but they serve the worse tea . What a rip off...
The bamboo containers for dim sum are very old and appears not washed properly.
The waitress who bring out the food from the kitchen use the same tray to bring dirty dishes back into the kitchen.. and return with food for another table using the same tray.
This restaurant is also know for Spitting.. If you sit near the Cash, you can hear restauant staff who are standing behind the bar counter spitting into the sink. The ice cubes are kept just next to the sink. It is really bad... Don't ask for ice ...
Very bad service at this restaurant. Waitresses here perfected an INSULT THE CUSTOMERS ROUTINE. If you asked why food take so long to be served (yes it could be long ..), they would put a hold on some of the dim sum items on your order. Make you wait for an hour while they laugh among themselves.. The waitress who lead in this great INSULT THE CUSTOMERS ROUTINE is Jenny. Who knows what worse things they are capable of...

This place has a lot of haters but i dont mind their dimsum coz its pretty decent and cheap. A rice bowl with spare ribs and chinese chorizo for $4.50 is my go to and the fried taro pastry is a must too. Usually with a side of xo sauce. And they are already open by 8:30 am which is good for people like me that starts work at 11am.

Surprisingly Good

Went there for an early Dim Sum Lunch on Sunday. Waited for a while to be seated. 20% off before 11:00 a.m.

Ordered Steamed Shrimp Dumplings, Pan Fried Turnip Cake, Braised Beef Tripe, Steamed Rice Rolls w. Beef, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Preserved Veggies & Beef on Rice. All of them were pretty good - tasty but not salty and hot enough. Service was attentive. Nice environment (not too noisy). Nice menu with good variety of choices.

Recommended!

After searching for a while, the only restaurant that opens as early as 8:30am is Imperial Court Beijing Cuisine at Brighouse Square. Most of the dim sum restaurants in Richmond open after 9:00am. Tea charge is $1.25 per person. Even though there is people in the party who do not drink tea (like Arkensen), we still have to pay for tea charge for 3 people.

The best part of our meal, in my opinion, was the large wooden bucket of meaty Beef Ribs. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender (which is a good thing since we were using chopsticks). Lastly, our Steamed Fish dish came out. In all other Chinese restaurants that I’ve been to, they debone the fish for you at the table. However, at Imperial Court, the fish came out cut in a strange way but with the bones still intact. We wound up having to debone the fish ourselves. Our complimentary Red Bean Soup was watery. The price for our set menu was pretty reasonable (~$200) but the quality of most of the dishes weren’t the best… neither was the service.

Bait and switch. They will show you a larger lobster than one served. Be warned! Their dim sum is not too bad but this was a very disappointing $157 lobster meal.

Horrible Services. I was meeting a friend for dim sum at 9am today. The place was more than half empty. My friend got in a few seconds earlier than I did, was arranged to a table (could sit 6 people) by the working station with all the plates and tea sets and pots on it. I figured we could be here for a while, so asked a waitress nicely to find a smaller table or somewhere quieter. She's impatient and pointed the place I was interested saying you could see yourself, there's someone there which no one was there. I challenged her attitude and she argued with me and walked way. The manage came by with the same cold attitude too.

We stood up and left. We went to another dim sum place - HML Seafood Restaurant, where the services were much better and we had very good experience there.

I know this restaurant has had bad service issues, but this time I fed up. I will never, ever go to Imperial Court again.

NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!!!!! Worst most rude service I have ever encountered. I never write reviews and always let things go but this particular experience prompted me to write one. The five of us ordered the king crab as we were having guests over for the holidays. The food arrived promptly and service was ok for the most part. However the 12 pound king crab they brought out for us was more like 8 pounds we've been to other restaurants and ordered a 9 pond king crab that was even bigger so I guess they lied a little about the weight but that's happened to us at a couple other restaurants before although not by this much! Anyways Towards the end of our meal we left a 15% tip with the bill only to have the lady and manager chase after us half way out of the restaurant saying we didn't tip enough!!!!!!! Not only that they were very rude with so much attitude!! So we told them that that was more than 10%. He have us a sour face and calculated it right in front of us not letting us leave!!! Until finally he says oh yeah it is more than 10%!! No apology either! He just left! Never been so disgusted in my life! Never been so embarrassed and insulted or have been treated that way before and we were big customers as the bill came to just under $700! The food wasn't great either! Trust me there are better places for great food and great service like sun Sui wah you're better off going else where! Do not go here!!!!

Terrible Food. Although the service was good and they made a great effort to speak English, unfortunately the food is some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I stopped by and ordered take out - it was ready in under 5 minutes which was not a good sign. The sweet & sour pork was precooked, tough and fibrous. The chow mein was the strangest I've ever tasted. The long beans were over cooked although the flavour was good. Won't be coming back here.

Dislike. Went there for a big group dinner. Food was reasonable, except for the hot & sour soup which seemed like it was all vinegar and little else in it. As well, the waiter and waitress kept bumping me as I ate when they brought dishes to the table or replaced plates - without any word of excuse or anything. The worse thing was that after the bill was paid, the waitress asked for more tip, and even the tip amount on after tax amount. Complained, but got no satisfactory response from the manager. I'm not going back.

Good food, decent pricing. Food here is decent and prices are really reasonable. Especially like the steamed pork ribs... I love this dish and this place does a good job with the right amount of seasoning :-) Also recommend the baked bbq pork buns and steamed shrimp & peatips dumplings which are both good as well.

Impertinent. If you're not going to order king crab, abalone, shark fin, or whatever expensive item, you're going to get extremely rude service. Pretty hypocritical for guys dressed in suits and black tie, trying to act elegant.
Lyp
Ripped off. I have not thought that you have to buy 2 additional dishes inorder to enjoy alaska king crap. The black suit waiter didn't tell me that I have such conditions until I have put the order in and they already started the cooking process. Without being first notify by the conditions, I am "forced" to order the addtional dish. I would not recommend this restaurant as their way of selling business is fairly not honest.

King Crab Heaven!. This is my go-to place for King Crab. I loved this place so much that we went here 2 times in one week and had 2 10+ pound King Crabs, 1 each per visit. I guess it doesnt hurt when you also have 2 family-visits from out of town and you have to entertain them!

First of all the price is VERY reasonable for King Crab. They have the big ones, and at 14.99 per pound, it is a very good deal. The only catch is, that you have to order 2 entrees, which is also not bad, because EVERYTHING I have tasted there is good, EXCEPT for the Shark's Fin soup, which was below par, and probably wont order from them again in the future unless they change their quality/recipe.

We always order it 2 ways, Garlic steam the legs, and Spicy-fried the body. We dont order the baked rice in the shell, as we like to eat other fried-rice/rice dishes, which would make it too much in the carbs section.

They use fresh garlic, and what can I say, I have tried King Crab at The Prince Seafood and Grand Honor at Oakridge this year, and I find Imperial Court to be the best in terms of taste and value.

Also, try their Sauna ribs as one of the entrees, you wont regret it. Once again, this is my go to place for King Crab Chinese style!

I really enjoy this place. The food is wonderful and the price is reasonable. Their chow mein though is a bit bland and could use some more flavours.

Imperial Court Beijing Cuisine is the restaurant J and I come to eat Peking Duck. So far, we tried more than 5 times and every time was really satisfying. I was a bit surprised when I saw such a low rating of this restaurant on Urbanspoon. It deserves at least 80% in my opinion.
Picky Diner
My mom’s favourite is the deep fried taro dumplings with duck meat: crispy outside, fluffy inside, and bursting with flavours. But it is hard for me to pick a favourite dish. All the dumpling dishes are good here. The seafood and vegetables are always fresh. I never forget to ask for a a little plate of they specialty chilli oil, it just brightens everything up on your taste buds.

Imperial Court is one of the more affordable places to go for dim sum in Central Richmond! BBQ Pork Pastry 4/5 stars These were the best thing we had that day! The skin was perfectly flakey and had notes of citrus. The char siu filling was definitely much sweeter than other BBQ Pork pastries. Fried Shrimp in Eggplant 2/5 stars These were alright. The shrimp filling lacked flavour and was rather flat toned. On the plus side, the eggplant wasn't soggy. Chicken Feet 3.5/5 stars These were standard. The skin was soft and flavourful, and had a subtle spiciness. There were also noodle bunches on the bottom. Chive & Crab Dumpling 2/5 stars The skin was ver delicate and skin, and there was an abundent amount of filling. However, these were rather lacking in flavour. Beef Rice Roll 2/5 stars The skin wasn't as soft as I would have liked and was a tad bit g

How do people look for a Chinese restaurant to try out? Asides from selecting randomly, through word of mouth or an advertisement from a newspaper, perhaps some people call Chinese restaurants regarding the prices for live seafood? Well, that was the case for me. There are a few restaurants in Richmond that I want to try such as Fisherman's Terrace, Top Gun J&C (since I have a Top Gun membership card), Dragon View and Shiang Garden. But, since Imperial Court was offering lobster at $9.99/lb, we headed here. Imperial Court is a very clean restaurant and has a bit of an European touch; theme, color and detail wise. The restaurant is fairly large and the seating arrangements are not cramped. Also, there is a private room at the back of the restaurant. As for the food, Imperial Court is a higher end restaurant that serves shark's fin, abalone and sea cucumber. Furthermore, quality abalone and sea cucumber where prices range from $45.00-$80.00 PEKING DUCK TWO COURSE MEAL. FIRST COURSE, PEKI

Imperial Court ( 王府井京川粵名菜) is located in Richmond and they serve up Beijing and Szechuan cuisine. My mom found this place in the newspaper and heard it was a good place for peking duck. M really wanted some good peking duck. We made reservations and headed down here for dinner. This place has lots of large round tables perfect for large groups. It’s a popular place for King Crab but it wasn’t the peak King Crab season yet, so we opted for a 10 person set menu for the 8 of us. The first item that arrived are the cold appetizers . It has bean curd, jelly fish, cucumbers, tomato, and pork. The next dish that arrived is the fish maw and egg soup . The big bowl of soup is poured into individual bowls. I thought the soup was good. M didn’t know what the soup was until we told him that fish maw was actually fish stomach. He was quite afraid to eat it. Mind over matter right? I thought the fish maw was quite tasteless and it’s the broth of the soup that brings out the flavour. Peking duck arri

This restaurant is pretty big. But it would be better to make reservations on the weekend for dinner time because it can get pretty packed.

Alaska King Crab (AKC) for $9.99/lb. How is that breaking news? Well, you see AKC is on sale at T&T for $10.99/lb, but you can have the exact same thing except cooked. To make the deal even sweeter, someone will also wash your dishes and take out the trash ;). The question 'where is it?', the answer 'Imperial Court restaurant in Richmond'. Well you see, Chowtimes did a post on AKC and listed a whole bunch of Chinese Newspaper ads, and Imperial Court just happens to be the cheapest one @ $10.88/lb. However we we got to the restaurant their sign read $9.99 and with the slogan "Cheapest crab in town" (of course in Chinese that is). Anyways, we were certainly happy with this surprise and ordered ourselves a
