Review Wing Kee Restaurant - Richmond

My son and me we went for a quick bite and we ended ordering 4 dishes, the prices are a little bit higher but if you want to eat quality you need to pay the price, service so great and friendly I definitely will go back. We ordered Shrimp fried rice, Lemon Chicken, Beef Vegetables in black beans sauce and Seafood Chow Mein

Tried the BBQ pork on rice bento to go. The BBQ pork was lean which was good and healthier than most. The BBQ pork tasted homemade. The portion was gigantic! Lots of veggies too. Not much attention to presentation though. Kinda like the foods we're plopped into the container. Overall the taste was average and the food quality and looks was average. Not fine dining but more like food court grade meal that's filling and hearty. The rice was on the dry side. Rough hearty food vibes.

I swear they are intentionally trying to give you as LITTLE amount of meat possible in each dish. Ginger Beef and Onions had maybe 6 pieces of beef, Kung Pao Chicken was just Kung Pao veggies and they packed the soda on top of the noodles to cool the noodles down while making the soda hotter than a overheating dryer. Never ever again, avoid this place at your own wallets peril.

Ordered online for delivery... Service started out great, they called promptly after placing the order to confirm... Driver then called and asked us to go downstairs to pick up food, which is normal, except she wasn't there, and didn't arrive for another 10mins. Food was horrible, it looked good, but was super salty. Like so salty it burned the throat. We couldn't eat it. Just gross... Almost was like they'd mistaken salt for MSG... would not recommend. Plus the delivery fee was hidden, was never told a fee etc and then end up getting charged $5 on the final invoice (you have to give your CC info over the phone). No where on their website or in the phone calls were we told delivery was going to cost.

I love this place! A place where u can get good chinese food at 2am. I think this place is way better than no. 9! And prices for small plates gets cheaper after 9:30! Service is mediocre but im still happy when i go there. U can bring your own bottle too on special occasions.

The Lamb Brisket Pot ($33.80) is definitely an impressive amount of food and I give it to that. It did provide the comfort as a winter dish. But as it continues being cooked on the burner, the size of the pot makes it hard to maintain the flavours as the seasoning is lost in the overcooked vegetables that has become watery. However, it is a good deal because it could easily feed 3 – 4 people. We had so much leftovers! I’m not sure if I want to go back for it, but it is worth a try if you enjoy a warm and hearty stew in the cold weather.

Worse Chinese restaurant. Their stuffed chicken wing not only tasteless but the wing is not fully cook. Also the duck was probably cook days ago n it smell bad. Sweet and sour pork only fat n fried only no meat. And the waiter make me repeat 3 times when there is only 3 items. Never go again

Another night after work where Juju and I were trying to find another late night spot to grab a quick bite, trying to stray away from Japanese and the usual Siu Yeh places. The same friend that frequents Taste Good also comes here at times, since this place is so much closer to home, we thought it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try as well.

Horrible. So today was my husband's birthday and we decided to try Wing Kee. under much hesitation I ordered chow mein, lemon chicken and a few other things. The lady on the phone told me it would be here in 45mins. sweet! I was starving so I thought I could find a quick snack to tie me over. ..after 45 mins nothing.. had a quick nap and it still wasn't here...needless to say 2.15mins later our food arrives (after I called and was told driver was in a car accident) my self , husband and 3 kids were literally walking out the door to go somewhere else when it arrived to go eat somewhere else... ironically enough I had been on my cell phone to Wing Kee canceling the order when it arrived...it was cold and kinda gross. The driver didn't even give us an apology..or at least offer to comp part of meal. needless to say I will not be ordering from there ever again. if it was going to take over 2 hours then tell me on the phone!! trying to keep 3 hungry kids at bay was draining.

Tasteless food. Went there for dinner. tried their famous stuffed wings, I order 33 pieces ( its tasteless)they charge by piece, soya black cod ( way too salty ), salty fish chicken fried rice ( hard to find salty fish), small portion with high price, not worth for it. the lady who's owner of the restaurant, asked me with mean voice ," u come for dinner or midnight snack? if u come for midnight snack, I won't put table cloth on ur table and less serving for you". what kind of service is it ? I told her, I come for dinner and ordered 3 dishes, her black face changed to be smiling face with better services. it cost me $46 for 3 small dishes.. wont go there again.

Reasonable Service - OK Food. I have ordered food from Wing Kee for delivery once before and found it to be reasonably good. I got the Almond Chicken, Special Cantonese Style Chow Mein, and Special Fried Rice. Food was tasty. The only problem was that the Chow Mein did not arrive crispy. It had been sealed in a takeout container and not allowed to breath. It tasted good, but did not have the crunch.

This experience lead me to give the restaurant a try in person last night. I arrived about 7 PM and there were several tables in use, but the place was not overly busy. I was promptly seated by the hostess and given a menu and had a drink order taken. The can of diet Coke arrived quickly with a full glass of ice.

I ordered the only combination dinner for one on the menu: Sweet & Sour Boneless Pork, Chicken Chop Suey, and the only choice - Pork Fried Rice or Chow Mein. I ordered the rice. An egg roll comes with the dinner and was served by itself with plum sauce before the main meal arrived. It was tasty.

The main meal arrived on a large oval platter with the S&S Pork separated from the Chop Suey by the Fried Rice - excellent presentation.

The rice was as good as I remember the delivery being. The Chop Suey was an unusual mix of veggies - lots of water chestnuts, baby corn, and tiny mushrooms with a sprinkle of broccoli and what I think was Gai Lan or baby Bok Choy, and loads of chicken.

The S&S had loads of crisp onion, green peppers, and pineapple with the breaded pork. I did notice a strange taste - not bad, just different from any pork I've tasted anywhere else. Not sure if it was a spice, or something tainted the cooking oil.

All in all, and enjoyable meal, but not one I would consider special.

They are open late - til 3 AM and close by my home for late night bike trips for munchies. I'm sure I'll be back.

PS - Note to Chinese Restaurant Owners - You really need to cater to single diners with combo meals and some variety. Can we get at least 4 to 6 combos for one on the menu? I know they are a pain for the cooks, but you are losing out on an important segment of the market. - JWP

UPDATE: October 21, 2013 - Another late-night visit to the Wing Kee Restaurant. I arrived about 10 PM and was surprised to find very few people in the restaurant - one large table of about a dozen people having some type of celibration, and two tables of couples. Usually this place is full during the late hours as it is one of the few places open til 3 AM.

I ordered the Combo Dinner for One with Fried Rice. It arrived quickly, but I noticed that it was not piping hot - while some items were hot, some were noticeably cool, as was the plate. Not sure why as it arrived very quickly after placing the order. Everything was tasty. The egg roll arrived shortly after the main platter, already cut in two, with a side dish of plum sauce. It was noticeably greasy and not very crisp, but tasted good.

For $11.95 + tax & tip, it filled the spot.

It's like eating MSG. The whole night I have been drinking liters of water. Won't go again.

A great place for some Chinese food. Last week i was there with a friend for dinner. The staffs seemed nice and it didn't take long for the food to arrive. We ordered honey garlic wings, a plate of vegetables, 2 spring rolls and some rice. The chicken wings were EXTREMELY tasty!

Worst restaurant ever. My partner and I were staying at Vancouver over night, we order from this restaurant and it has been the worst Chinese food we had ever eaten. We order a pork fried rice, very little pork, lots of egg, and it was all white, we also order a lo-mein terrible no sauce either.
Fail At Delivery
TERRIBLE!! AVOID!!!. I called Wing Kee to place an order for delivery, at first all went well. They asked our method of payment and accepted interac. A couple minutes later I received a call from Wing Kee saying they did not accept debit and that we'd have to pay cash or go to the bank. We have been drinking and decided this would NOT be a good idea, so we asked to cancel our order, to which they said no problem.

However, a few minutes upon hanging up they called up to tell us that we could not cancel because the food was cooking. They demanded that we drive for pick up!! DRUNK!! When we said there was no way, they then said they would come pick us up and drive us to the bank because we had to go get money for the food. They just would not take no for an answer! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service. These people are awful!!

Thumbs Up!. I've been there a few times before already, the food quality has been quite stable. Through out the week from Mon-Sun they have different daily specials .I.e steam live scallops, oyster in the shell, live fish etc.
The price range is very reasonably, service was good and of course the food is good too!
will definitely bring some friends there and recommend to other people.
Wally
The service was awful, and the food was soggy and bland. Would never go back or order from there again.

Dont think i will go back. Hit & miss

majority of foods are below average.

This is a second review on Wing Kee that I am writing while eating left-over food from Wingkee at 1:30am LOL. J and I were kind of lazy today so that we decided getting some delivery food from Wing Kee. He wanted me to decide what to order so I ended up spending more than a half hour to choose. I definitely have a selection problem and he knows it, so he often asks me to choose something hoping to fix my problem hahaha. Anyways we got three dishes which happened to be only one of them satisfied our cravings for Chinese food.

For those of you who stay up late looking for food delivery at two in the morning (well, other than Pizza), Wing Kee can be your another option for Chinese food. Wing Kee is comparably cheaper than other Chinese restaurants and more generous in portions. The food tastes okay in general, and sometimes it can be better than you expect. Trust me, it shouldn't be thaaatttt bad (when you are starving). BBQ PORK ON RICE ($6.95) came with a large amount of steamed rice (maybe almost two bowls of rice), fair amount of BBQ pork, and the boiled bok choy. Some pieces of the meat were dry but the sauce was pretty good. It had enough sauce on top of rice to mix it together. STIR FRIED BEEF WITH FLAT RICE NOODLE ($8.50) was a bit bland, but the noodle was cooked just right with a nice chewy texture. The beef was not overcooked and the vegetables had a nice crunch. I expected that CURRIED BEEF ON RICE ($7.50) would be similar to Malaysian curry, but I guess this is what Chinese curry is... (lighter than the Indian or Malaysian curry). In terms of taste, it was just a simple curry that did not have buttery, creamy flavour or typical spiciness of the curry. It was a bit mild to me. After eating, I was so thirsty and had to drink 2 glasses of water. While eating I didn't find any of my dishes was salty or saucy, but maybe the (excessive) amount of MSG was added to the food...? Overall, the food was good enough to satisfy my hunger at 2 in the morning. I would order from Wing Kee when I crave Chinese food at night! PROS + Open til 3am + Late night delivery + Large portions at cheaper prices CONS - Food can be hit and miss RATING Food 3.0/6.0 Ambience N/A Service 3.0/6.0 Delivery time 6.0/6.0 (took 30 mins) Price $ *Minimum order fee - $20 *Just Eat says "Free delivery above $20" but you will be charged at least $3 from the restaurant regardless.

We craved for Lamb Casserole these days:P It may sound weird to have this in April but no one says you can only have it in Winter. In addition, it’s still pretty chilled for me. We had lamb casserole in Wing Kee. We have heard that the quality has gone up with the new owner. Menu. Fermented red beancurd 南乳醬 It comes with the lamb casserole. Lamb Casserole with Beancurd 枝竹羊腩煲 Ta-daaa~~~~ It’s super huge~! Smells very nice…>< Look at it>< Isn’t it beautiful and tempting?? Boneless Lung Guang Chicken with Ginger and Salt 去骨沙薑龍崗雞 It’s quite dainty and we love it boneless. However, there are many scattered bones at the bottom covered by the chicken… We didn’t order much but all we have ordered are satisfying (except the scatterd bones). I will go back:) Wing Kee Restaurant 新榮記海鮮食館 (604) 270-1825 #120- 8260 Granville Ave Richmond, BC
Every Day Is A Food Day
The parking lot is quite big already for one restaurant, but it’s completely packed! We decided to go for their Choose 5 Dishes for a set price. It also came with half an order of complimentary Free Range Chicken . When we thought half an order, we thought it wouldn’t be much, but it was basically what you would get as a whole order normally at other restaurants! The chicken itself was pretty good too. The only issue I had was I found it odd that some of the chicken was cold, and some of it was warm. Definitely microwaved this. The first dish we got was the Honey Garlic Spareribs . I thought these were just average. The sauce was flavourful, but the meat was a little tough sometimes. Pan Fried Clams with Black Bean Sauce My favourite had to be the Pan Fried Clams with Black Bean Sauce . We had to add a bit of money on top of the set price for this dish, but it was well worth it. Every shell on the plate had clams in it and they were very flavourful. A good amount for the price. Braised Deep Fried Bean Cake Next were the Braised Deep Fried Bean Cake . It was mixed with broccoli, and mushrooms. The sauce was thick and flavourful. The tofu inside was very smooth.

A dive. Cheap, but good. Open late and fresh seafood. Very casual and affordable. The owners also own Tsui Hang Village, but the food at Wing Kee is better!

Suanne and I had just sent off our boys for summer camp. They will be away for a full two weeks in Vancouver Island. While they are away, Suanne and I took the opportunity to scoot off on a vacation on our own. We did not want to go far for dinner because
