Food:
I'm not sure if it was owned by the same person as the restaurant in Burnaby but they do taste similar.
Their Kimchi Hotpot is definitely my favorite. The BBQ is also pretty good choice but is it a very oily dish.
If you're looking for something with heavy taste, this is definitely the place for you!
The restaurant is pretty small and all the tables are setup pretty close to each other, too, so I wouldn't recommend dining in during peak hours.

Service:
The service is absolutely terrible. I don't think the owners have spent much time training their staff since my experience with their service was simply bad. When I was at the counter paying for my takeout food, the staff reached over my shoulder to serve the next person in line. That felt pretty disrespectful. After paying for the order, I had to step outside to wait for it to be ready since there was no place in the restaurant for me to stand and wait. I waited for about 20 minutes and decided to go in and see if it was ready. I found out my order was already ready and it was just sitting there on the back counter in front of their kitchen entrance while the staffs were doing something else. So I waited for them to finish what they were doing and asked if my order was ready. She then pointed toward the packed food at the back counter and said "yeah it is ready. You can grab it yourself." I didn't feel very comfortable with the whole experience.

• quitely located the same complex where Deer Garden signature is. Skip the long line up at Deer Garden, you'll end up waiting for 30mins to an hour! At Happy Tofu, you'll be quite satisfied with the large serving of rice, meat and veggies; it comes with a miso soup too!
• if you are a light eater, one order is good for sharing, usually $8.50 per order. It comes in a shallow dish so big eaters, this should be enough for you or order an appy to share
• serving is fast and good, although their tea is cold-warm when they refill it
• I'll come back again as I had a positive experience with this resto

Service Is MUCH better different owner. My friends and I haven't visited this restaurant for awhile already because about half a year back we went and we had a horrible experience. This time we decided to go back, we noticed the name changed from Han Ju to Han Cuan Hanppy Tofu Pot House. The menu Slightly changed, it looks nice and simple, better than it was before. I thought the Service stood out for me the best. I remembered before the service was absolutely terrible. I couldn't stand the waitresses there. We order 2 Seafood pot and 3 Korean BBQ style rice. There was no doubt that the quantity increased. We definitely got what we payed for. Overall this restaurant has improved a lot since the last owner.

Visited this place twice in Nov. On the first visit the restaurant held a one day event where they donated all the proceed to BC Cancer Society. Kudos to owner and staff. Owner and staff were very courteous and friendly. Most importantly the food was excellent. We tried various hot pot, rice combo and drink items. They were all great. First visit was so good we returned the week after and it was consistently good. They also have the best bathroom in the entire Vancouver. It was clean and fully loaded with amenities. Even dental floss (seriously). Highly recommended.

Amazing food and service. I love coming to this place! The food is great, and is always what I expect it to be. I get the Kimchi Hotpot, and I always have leftovers I can pack and save for another meal. They recently changed owners, and now it's owned by Taiwanese people. They have impeccable service. So polite, and just overall extremely good service. When I order take out, one of the waiters would walk me out with the food in his hands, and open the door for me too. It's nice that they're really going out of their way to maintain such high standards for customer service, especially when their food is priced so reasonably too. I hope the current owner stays forever :).

Better!. Tonight was my first time here in a while, and it sure was different! The interior has been completely renovated, there are new servers, and new menus as well, but all their popular items are still here. I got my usual kimchi udon, and tried some of my friend's seafood hotpot, and we could both tell that the food quality had gone up a bit, maybe new management?

Also, I wouldn't have thought to get drinks here, but I was recommended the Hokkaido Milk drink by one of the servers, and it was delicious!! I'd come back here just to get that for takeout. :P

I asked Kelvin what he wanted to have for dinner. He replied with "something Korean". I chose Hanppy Tofu Pot House which seemed Korean on the outside. We will be reviewing dishes from two separate visits.

Hanppy Tofu Pot House has large portions for their meals at low prices. Most entrees are priced at or around $7.95, which makes for an affordable dining experience. Sadly, Kelvin found the rice dishes to be a bit bland. I would suggest choosing hot pots as I found they were more hearty and had more interesting content.

Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot is one of my favourite korean places to go! I don’t especially think of it as a Korean place though, since they only offer a few types of Tofu Hot Pots, and the rice. So, basically people come here to eat these few dishes. They do offer a few snacks and bubble tea drinks, which I find a little bizarre. I love their seafood hot pot though! It’s got these clear noodles inside the hot pot along with rice, so it’s really filling. You can also choose how spicy you want it. This one is mild. I have yet to try their Korean Style BBQ with Rice though! My friends always get it and say it’s their must have here! Their prices ranger from $5.95 to $6.95, so quite reasonable for a g

When I think of winter, I think of scraping frost from my car in the morning, curling up in my blanket- burrito style (best way to sleep in my opinion), Mariah's 'All I want for Christmas is you" blasting in my car, and eating hot soupy anything to keep my insides warm. There are so many amazing restaurants in Vancity that serves up delicous hot eats, perfect for combating the nippy air and chilly wind so I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you. These restaurants are in no particular order. They are all my favourite go-to places during the winter time. 1. Burgoo - Must Get Item: Soup and Sandwich Combo Burgoo by far makes one of my favourite grilled cheese sandwiches because it's made with an obscene amount of butter and cheese. *Drool*.... and when you pair that with their hot Seafood Potage soup? It's the perfect lunch combo to warm you from inside out. 2. Dinesty - Must Get Item: Soup Pork Dumplings The last time I blogged about Dinesty was back in 2011 and I wrote about my less than stellar experience. I've returned many times since then, and they've surprised me with improvements each time. Their Xiao Long Baos (soup dumplings) are pretty spot on and if you've never had them before... You are missing out. These little soupy meat purses will change your life. Like legit. 3. Crackle Creme - Must Get Item: Honey Lavender Creme Brulee Honey. Lavender. Creme. Brulee. Need I say more?? 4. Marutama - Must Get Item: THE EGG Oh god. Their glorious egg still haunts me in my sleep and I'm constantly depressed at the fact that I live so far away from this place. Marutama serves up extremely rich, chicken broth-based ramen with an egg so delicious it'll make you sing to the heavens. Just go and try it. 5. Swiss Bakery  - Must Get Item: The Cronut (or Frissant) It's really hard to explain in words how a cronut tastes but all I can say is... if you like doughnuts, and you like croissants, you will love these cronuts from Swiss Bakery. During my hibernation in the

We were greeted and seated promptly once we entered the restaurant. The seating is quite tightly placed. You'll have to squish in between the tables in order to claim the 'booth' side of the table if you're not as skinny as a chopstick! Since we have both been at either location, we already knew what we wanted to eat We both decided to go with the Korean Style BBQ with Rice. This had bbq pork, 2 kinds of vegetables, spicy tofu and egg on rice. This is a fairly

Hanppy Tofu Hot Pot (previously known as Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot) is a small restaurant in Richmond (aren’t they all small restaurants in Richmond?) that serves Korean-style tofu hot pots. If nobody told me they were Korean-style, I honestly wouldn’t know, aside from maybe the token inclusion of kimchi in dishes and the use of those Korean crystal noodles. They just seem like hot pots and they use all the typical hot pot ingredients.

(**FORMERLY Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot**) Marinated Beef Shank (牛腱) was Buddha Boy's dish...of course, since I don't eat beef! This was a very "appetizer-sized" dish...a good price for $2.50.

The taste of food here makes people keep coming back. This place has Taiwanese style Korean food, well more specifically 'tofu hot pot' because their menu only consists of those things. Although you can also order some bubble tea here but I wouldn't expec

Quick lunch, hits the spot. Very reasonably priced at just under $13 per dish, wife and I needed a simple but tasty meal with no fuss. Service was quick and friendly. One of my favourite places for a meal.

Value is what they offer. Slot slightly above food court. Good quality, well priced, ok service (normal Chinese restaurants service). Just the special deal is a little confusing, and the server didn’t explain too well. Good place to go if you want quick and cheap

Have been going here since I was a kid and there is just a soft spot in my soul for this kimchi msg tofu soup bowls. Their beef/fried kimchi rice plates are rather nice too but is no where near as filling as a bowl of soup and meat and vegetables and noodles with rice. Sometimes I come here and eat by myself just to reminiscent about old times with my mother

TL:DR: If you know what you're getting in to, this spot provides exceptional value for money and is a sort of comfort food that hits the spot for me. Order the 11. Signature BBQ Meat (medium spice or more) if you don't know what to order, since that's what they excel at. You get lots of yummy fatty pork, a healthy helping of various veggies and mapo tofu on a gigantic bed of rice. It also comes with seaweed soup, which can be hit and miss, but is mostly a hit. Also try Taiwanese style nuggets, everything else may be hit and miss (appetizers 15-24 have been always solid). Service was hit and miss, but has improved a lot recently, which has lead me to write this review. Going to start off by saying that I've been to many of this stores "locations." They all have slightly different names, but the menu is almost exactly the same. The original location might be Han Ju at Crystal Mall and I've been a customer ever since I was a hungry teenager with no money quite a few years back. They also have had(have?) a store in Kerrisdale with probably different owners but the spirit of the restaurant was still there. I will focus on this location since it's the one I have the most experience as of late. I would say the style of this restaurant is Taiwanese-Korean fusion, the owners of the different locations have seemed to be either Taiwanese and Cantonese or both. I've seen these kinds of restaurants in China (Guangzhou) with a very similar premise and menu as well. After discovering the Han Ju location which at the time offered their aforementioned Signature BBQ Meat on rice for $8.50. As a hungry highschooler with no allowance and limited working hours, this was the spot to go after hanging out near Metrotown or Crystal mall. They also have decent milk tea, good side dishes, and great combination offerings. The Kerrisdale location offered the same great food and low prices, except it was next to my highschool(s). It's a shame it closed down. If you needed a place to fill you up, this place has you sorted. I discovered this location in Richmond after moving here a few years back. The food at this location is honestly worse than the original, except for the #11. I can attribute this to the kitchen being operated by only one person for the most part, it's forgivable as running a business in this spot is difficult and I've watched them go through a lot of changes and they have been improving. The waiter and waitress working there right now are a far step above the dude they had working there pretty often pre covid. They often get hit with big lunch/dinner rushes that they can't handle, but have improved a lot You still get some of the best value in terms of food quantity and that's where they excel. I'm glad they haven't changed this after all these years. All the side dishes are worth giving a go, 15-24 are especially good if you get a combo with a drink. The catch is they probably don't make these ones in house. I could be wrong though. This place in all of it's incarnations has provided me with many great memories and filled my stomach for many years and will continue to get my business. Times have changed, prices have gone up slightly with inflation but the core of the business is still the same. I hope they can sort out a lot of the operational problems and stay in business. I hope for the best for everyone working here. Yes, the place has it's ups and downs (bad home cooking at it's worst and great comfort food at best), but tailor your expectations and you'll have a great time eating here. edit: I've been informed the Kerrisdale one is still in operation, but is very different i'll have to give it another go sometime.

Pretty decent chinese restuarant. Interior is clean and spacious, decently maintained washrooms. Plenty of parking in the lot, which fills up quick though. Food quality is okay, but delicious, the combos are really well priced, a pretty good place to drop by for lunch if you're starving.
