Review Hao's Lamb Restaurant Central Richmond - Richmond

The baked cake (sugar) was tasty but a bit dry; the soup was light and suitable for summer time; mix lamb pluck was a refreshing dish with a pinch of spice; the tendon was so tough that we couldn’t consume; the tongue tasted like beef and was lack of flavour but we did enjoy the texture; the highlight was definitely the rack, perfectly cooked and seasoned, will come back for it. All in all, this restaurant doesn’t season the dishes heavily but instead they bring out the odor from the lamb itself which is brilliant because lamb does have a sophisticated flavour and aroma.

We went there yesterday. The prices increased a lot, 45% for the lam soup as it used to be 19.99 the same size in early 2021. That’s inflation I get it, but the amount of soup shrink as you can see. These pictures are taken before we start eating. The size of meat in “Grill Lamb” is smaller than the spices, and there is hardly any in there, we were so disappointed. We talked to the owner / female server about this, saying we came before and we had the same dish, I made it express that we are not looking for price reduction or anything, just want to make a comment. She INSISTS my memory was wrong and we should have ordered the other dish (lamb steak), refused to listen to us. Not to mention they barely have any service. The two cakes are supposed to be served with the soup but they came last, after we ASKED!! The 6 chicken knee skewers also came last after we ASKED about it… my friends asked for 2 cup of iced water b/c the lamb dish is too spicy, and of course they never came. We paid without leaving a tip, the service doesn’t deserve one. - - - - - - - - Just want to tell everyone leaving tip is NOT IN THE LAW. They can’t tip-shame you like the few comments I read below. Feel free to leave $0 if you find their service sucks!!

Price increased a lot … average 30 to 50% more expensive than before. Inflation is coming for sure. Lamb skewers are tasty but very small portions.

We ordered lamp soup with noodles. It tastes delicious and authentic. The lamb kabobs are tender and juicy. Great restaurant.

I've been to this restaurant quite often and love the dishes very much. The young guy waiter is really nice and friendly. However, I never expected to get such rude customer service today and made me no longer wanna go there anymore. When I came in, a middle age waitress told me I could only sit outside because the inside is full. My first thought is I have to sit outside of restaurant them I realize what she said was I can’t take the 6-seats place which closes to inside window. First, I never asked to take six people seat, second, I am totally fine to sit wherever she wants me sit. Out of curiosity, I said to her that I came here a lot, I used to sit inside- has this changed? She didn’t answer me directly but said: if you three take the seats for six, what if there are more people come in and have no seats? I feel embarrassed and didn’t say anything anymore. Then she stared to make a very loud noises when she sort out the bowls, tea cup, chopsticks etc. on the table, It made me feel that she was very angry with us. Then she said she needed to check ID and left. I waited her come back to check my id and vaccine info. It took a while till I approached her and asked her to check- I said why it took so long - she replied “ I don’t have time to wait here to check yours as I am the only one for the whole restaurant”. My goodness, if that is the case, you should tell your boss but not lower down the customer service. We felt we were not welcome in restaurant so we decided to left even though we drove an hour just to come here for lunch. Never wanna go there again.

I have been visiting Shine Valley whenever in the neighborhood, for 5+ years (at the time it was a booth in Yaohan). Although the lamb soup and baked cake have always been superb (best in town IMO), it's fair to say that price has gone up and portion down, especially in the last year or two. In fact, I was quite surprised when we came over last November and December. That said, we all know this is mainly due to inflation and supply chain issues. Restaurants are hit hard, especially servers who mainly live on tips. Not trying to dismiss the other reviewers, just saying that let's have empathy and not blame each other -- it's the pandemic's fault. Also worth noting that, when I visited today, the portions have obviously increased and the new servers were quite courteous. I was barely able to finish my order and left satisfied. And no, I'm not 水军 nor do I know the owner or manager. I don't even live in Canada. Just an average customer who visited from time to time. I understand that Shine Valley might have disappointed folks. Give it another chance, maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Average everything on menu 40% more expensive than last year with smaller portion. Poor service with terrible attitude. I had ordered ice water due to spicy food, I had been waiting for almost 1hour still not get my water???? Quality of the food is POOR, we asked the waitress why the food portion changed so much, she answer back to criticizes us that we must memorized the wrong item, and randomly picked one item on the menu told us should just order that one instead ? Was it suppose to be the attitude that customer receive ? I feel my feedback was not respected at all. Should I just pay and leave even I’m not happy about the food I got ? What kind of shxt place and service customer like this ? Not even mentioned I have to wait long time for food to get service and no one cares about whether food was okay for us or not during the whole dinning experience. At the end of it, waitress even asked me to why not pay the tip after I refused to tip. I stand for myself and kindly say that the food and service does NOT deserve tip! And this would be last time I ever come to this restaurant

Hao’s Lamb Restaurant is Chinese Cuisine. My dad's friend's family invited us for the Christmas dinner at this restaurant this year. It was our first time having Chinese food for Christmas in Canada. It was such a great experience having food with a group of people during the holiday.

Location
Hao’s Lamb Restaurant is located in Richmond McKimWay and Garden City. Because of the location, there are so many Chinese people having lunch and dinner at this place every day.

Interior Design
Hao’s Lamb Restaurant is a traditional Chinese restaurant. Everything inside the restaurant looks very traditional. Tableware, decorations, table setting are all traditional Chinese style looking. Mainly blue and white ceramics. Inside the restaurant, it’s medium size. As soon as people sat down, you will feel that this place is so crowd.

Food
Hao’s lamb is famous at its nicely cooked fried lamb, lamb shanks and soup. We have ordered lots of food. For example, Sautéed Spicy Mutton: Roasted dry chili peppers, fresh scallions, Szechuan peppercorn, and the mountain of delicate, bone-in lamb meat. Mutton Soup: it has slices of lamb and vegetables inside. The lamb broth was flavourful. Hap’s Stir-Fried Cauliflower: crisp and flavored with bacon. House Special Eggplant: one of my favorite dishes. Asian eggplants cooked with chili heat and vibrant green cilantro. Besides, we also had, Pan-fried Trip, Stir-fried potato, Chile beef appetizer, Mutton and fish dumplings, and etc. We had ordered more than 15 dishes for dinner. The taste of the food was awesome.

Price
The price of food is not expensive. Mostly the dishes in this restaurant are around $15 - $20 dollars. But, some of them, such as Roasted Lamb leg or New Zealand Lamb Ribs are over $50. It’s just right for the amount of food they serve. One bad thing about this place is that the servers are not very friendly. The servers who served us is the owner of the restaurant. They are not very friendly. By 7:30 pm, you haven’t finished your food, they will let you go. So disappointed!

They said customer will be respected as god but the problem is they don’t believe in god. Booked a table for 3 for my birthday but ended up tried to asked us to wait over half hours and gave us table at the entrance crowd with people. We took off before getting a table. People there are not so polite as well.

A terribly mediocre restaurant. Menu had no variety, dishes were lackluster, and the waitress chased us down because we were short 15 cents on a 10% tip, which she calculated on the total with tax rather than the subtotal. A negligible difference, but it made for a highly unpleasant dining experience.

Roasted lamb leg
The portion is good for four people..the lamb has too much seasoning..personally I love to have a stronger taste of the lamb..but the lamb was soft enough👌 It is red ally expensive....

I suggested to try the lamb specialty restaurant which was opened about six months ago. It is located on MckKim Way and Garden City. The decoration is kind of traditional Chinese. Even the tableware looks traditionally Chinese. The server who served us is the owner of the restaurant. She is very friendly and recommended us the dishes which are the specialties of the restaurant.
