Review Pho Han - Richmond

lammy lemon
*updated review: This is my third time trying this restaurant. It's still OK but I find the quality has changed drastically within the few months I visited. Today's broth was not hot at all. I asked for extra hot soup but still not enough to cook the beef even after I finished my bowl. The service is still good but I think I'll have to try elsewhere next time. *original review: Really good bun bo hue!! The beef was soft and the broth was red and tasty. Other places have diluted taste. I liked the extra red onion and quality of meat is higher than other places. Ask for some jalapenos to increase the spice ;)

Tiny family run restaurant that isn't bad. No were close to being the best in Richmond, but it's priced right and you get good portions. The restaurant only have 3 tables inside, plus the "bar" by the window, but the is a couple of tables outside. My Grilled Pork Vermicelli was pretty good, but the Fish Cake Soup didn't have much taste to it. The spring roll was kind of gross. I think the oil temperature was too high, because the skin was dark, but the inside wasn't fully cooked and had a mushy texture. I ordered online and found the menu was limited. Also, I put the order in at 4pm for a 4:55 pickup. I got there at 5:05, and still waited 10 mins for the order. If you like quantity over quality, then this may be the place for you.

A small family run place for Vietnamese food. I tried grilled chicken banh mi (Sub) and chicken pho. Both very delicious.Fresh ingredients, delicate flavours.Super yummy. Banh mi was a star with its pickled radish and fresh coriander.Too good.must try

8/10. Portions were great! Not your typical grilled pork, but still very great and flavourful. For the price and the portion , definitely better than other viet restaurants in the area. Will be going back to try their pho and other food.

Nice, beefy broth that isn’t heavy with spice but tastes just right, the quality of the beef itself is good, excellent value for the price.

My favorite place for pho in the lower mainland! They recently renovated the interior seating area. It looks cleaner and more modern now! Plus they have two tables outside now for safer covid19 practice. The soup for pho taste a lot fresher and clearer compared to many other competing restaurants. Fresh and tasty ingredients too! Price is also very affordable. Service can be slow when they're busy. The kitchen looks like they're constantly working hard for the dine in and take out orders. I recommend their special pho for something a little different 👍.

Great prices and huge portions. We usually get the vermicelli bowls via delivery platforms. Noodles are always warm and comes with a good helping of fresh veggies. My only wish is for more lemongrass marinade on the chicken. Looking forward to trying their pho on site.

I went to my all-time trusted restaurant today for a grilled beef Bahn Mi. They upgraded the beef steak but downplayed the marinade 😭😭😭😭😭 They are also undergoing a small renovation so they increased the price, which is fair imo because they were only charging $5 a sub, so at least now they are charging at average market pricing. I really don’t care about the cost (though $1.5 is a steep increase but overall it’s still reasonable) or the ambiance, all I want is just a good grilled beef Bahn mi 😭. I won’t order their bbq beef again but maybe I will give their cold cut Bahn mi a try next time. Overall, it's still not a bad bahn mi but it’s hard when you had a certain expectation 🥺 Price: $5.5 - $7.5 per sub Taste: 3.6 / 5 atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️ seating: ⭐️⭐️ Price Performance ratio: 4 / 5

cheap prices with plenty of choices for Vietnamese cuisines...with a small room but warm...less people...more enjoyable and comfortable for meals......it is mistaken not to give yourself a try out.

My favourite pho restaurant in Richmond. I used to live closer and went there regularly. Now that I’m further away I miss this place and still sometimes go out of my way to drive there because it’s worth it. Their house special and grilled chicken are the best. The owners are also very friendly and work hard.

All I’ve tried here is their banh mi (Vietnamese sub) and it was one of the best chicken subs I’ve ever had. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the vegetables were well pickled and fresh especially the cilantro. The bread nicely toasted and buttery. And to end on a high note my lunch was only five dollars. How amazing was that!
Domo Is Craving...
So Pho Han is a pho place that we've passed by many times on Garden City but never got around to trying it, but we finally did!. This is a very small restaurant! It doesn't look like much on the outside but the inside is not too bad. There's a TV on the wall too!. [insert menu pics]. Their tea is served in metal cups!
Every Day Is A Food Day
Overall, I guess S proved me right with Pho Han that it was dingy looking and also had poorly executed food. They also completely forgot our order of spring rolls, but we didn’t want to give it a try anyways after having our food. Service is also basically non-existent and we had to go up to pay since we weren’t able to get the attention of anyone.

Pros:
– 10% off on Mondays
– Pho is somewhat cheaper than other spots

Cons:
– Poor ambiance and service
– Pho is average and pork chop was poor

Given the price, it’s fair to say that you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t necessairly come back, as there are much better pho places around such as An Nam. However, it’s not that bad to the point that I won’t visit it if I am around due to convenience sake, or if I’m really craving for pho on a tight budget.

It is a rather small restaurant with very minimal seating but there wasn’t too many people so it was still comfortable. I ordered the: Pho Dac Biet Pho Dac Biet ($6.75) tasted like any normal vietnamese noodle soup with MSG. The weird thing is that they place the raw meat towards the side; presentation wise not that good. The soup had plenty of meats and it really had stuff me a lot when I finished it. More Jalapeños!!! (FREE OF CHARGE) we asked the server for more jalapeño peppers and he gave us a lot in a small bowl.

Sooooo good!. We eat here every chance we get. We are addicted to the grilled lemon grass pork on vermicelli. The owners are great and remember us each time we come in. The prices are very affordable as well. The only bad thing about this restaurant is that it's so far from where we live but we make the drive because it's that good. :) we highly recommend eating here!

The New Pho Champ Coming Up. Friendly staff pleased to serve you here!
Really good Pho, and best of all, you can choose exactly what you want in there!! Most pho places have set bowls.
The beef brisket, rare steak, and flank are by far the best cuts out of all the pho places that I've tried in my lifetime.

The sandwiches are also the best bar none!

Give this place a try!!

-----31 Dec, 2014-----

Cold Cut Banh Mi Sub. The best Viet sub around! Add jalepenos for that extra kick!

-----31 Dec, 2014-----

House Special Beef Noodle Soup. Awesome Pho! Come get some! Friendly and fast staff.

Absolutely TERRIBLE. We sat down here and had no service whatsoever. I actually had to get up and ask for someone to take my order. Once the order was taken, the food took way too long for a Pho restaurant. When my food did come out, we were told that my girlfriend's food was sold out so she ordered a Vietnamese sub instead. Not only did that take too long either but it came out cold and hard.

Bottom line is service was terrible and the food was subpar. I will never come back here again and am more than happy to post this on all sites so not only my circle of influence knows how had this place is but so that the general public does as well.

I actually created an account just to voice my displeasure here.. That should say enough.

Best Vietnamese I've had in a while!! And I love bun and go to many places. Amazing spring rolls and the vermicelli with pork was so delicious!! I will be going back again! Mmmmmm

Pho han is the best. I go there almost every two weeks the pho is the best. The broth is really good. Really cheap and no MSG. If I could go there every day I would. Now if you go the on Monday there is a 10% off.If you go around 6 pm I'll have to wait about 5mins to 10 mins

Good HomeMade Pho. Contrary to the other reviewer - I found this place N the food quite pleasant. Only issue is the pho bowls R smaller - so their L is like other's M. The taste of the Pho was NICE and fresh. Not oily N MSG-laden. Especially like their presentation N condiments (sprouts, fresh chilis, lime N basil)

This restaurant is by far the worst Vietnamese restaurant I have been to. In search of some good eats, some recent reviews singing the praises of this place led me to it. Yes the prices are cheap, but the portion size certainly reflects this. I ordered the grilled pork chop with rice and added extra grilled beef for $2.50. What I got was a dry, tasteless pork chop and some bones with a sliver of beef around them. The other items ordered by my dining guests also failed to impress. Perhaps they were having an off night? I won't know as I definetly will not go back to find out

Tiny place in the most obscure part of the strip mall - no wonder they need all of the sandwich boards. I've had better but this was tasty & you can't beat the price. I'll come back & the guys are pretty nice too.

Hidden gem. Went here the other week based on a friend's recommendation. I've passed by this resto many many times but was never brave enough to try it. It's a small nook and that particular spot seems to change hands ever so often. But often times, it's the unfamiliar that are the most yummy. It was typical Viet food, but the portions and price were good. I'm a fan of short ribs so was most excited to see it on the menu (not available at all Viet restos). It came with rice, shredded pork, sunny side up egg, and assorted veggies (the usuals: cucumber, tomato, lettuce, pickled carrot and daikon). Again, good portion and price. I will go back.

Finally, a Great Pho Restaurant!. Pho has become the "fast food" of Vietnamese foods so it tends to be over salted, loaded with MSG, and too oily. Pho Han does not use MSG in the broth and they even have free range chicken. You can taste the quality in their dishes because they don't overload it with additives.

My favorite is their Chicken Pho which isn't available at most Pho restaurants. The food here is tasty, yet light on the stomach. Great prices, especially if you come after 6pm because it's 15% off the already low price. This is a hidden gem because it's hard to see the restaurant from Garden City road. It's definitely worth the find though.

I love this restaurant for the price, food and service;). last week i saw their discount that is 15% off after 6p.m. I thought why not gave it a try. The food was so good. I could believe i got a big dinner with my friend and just about15 bucks. What a deal! it was crazy cheap. U should try n love this restaurant like i do.

The ice coffee is AWESOME!

Awesome restaurant + great service. I live quite close to this restaurant so I would usually come by to eat at this place - and the owners, who is a husband-wife combo, are always there to welcome me with a smile! Their deals are pretty awesome, especially since they just recently opened, you get free barbeque when you order a meal! I especially enjoy their pho and salad rolls because they're just the perfect size, and the right taste. Plus my family enjoys eating their rice meals even for take-out! The couple always just makes sure to pack everything even the sauces, tea and some freebies!

What keeps bringing me back to this place is their awesome service and just consistent good food :) I'll be back for sure!

GREAT FOOD, GREAT PRICES, NICE ATMOSHERE. I think this place has only been open for a month or so but it is well worth the visit. They have really improved on the feel of the restaraunt over the last owner. It has a very comfortable and cozy feel without feeling cramped. The big screen TV is a nice touch too, especially during the playoffs. The service is really good. Very warm and friendly without being pretentious.
But the food is the main reason I keep going back. I've tried quite a few items on the menu now and I've always been very satisfied. The food is always very fresh and tastes great. You can tell a lot of care is taken in it's preparation. Pho Han really shines in the four Vietnamese dishes most people are most familiar with. Their pho, spring rolls, salad rolls and vietnamese subs are all among the best I've tried in Vancouver. A bowl of pho is one dish that is a dime a dozen in Vancouver. Finding a really good bowl is a different story. Pho Han is a must try if for nothing else but the pho. Spring rolls are another item that you can find in every second restaraunt in Vancouver. Pho Han's spring rolls are actually hand made and are really something special. Their iced Vietnamese coffee is another one of my favourates.
Another extrordinary thing about Phon Han is thier prices. The cheapest I've found in Vancouver. Thier subs are only $3.00, pho is $6.00 and spring roll are only $1.50! They also give you your choice of free BBQ, or 10% off your meal if you spend 6 bucks. You can easily have a really good meal for under $10. That's tough to find these days.
Pho Han has definately started out on the right foot with great food and service, a good friendly atmosphere and prices that are pretty unbelievable. I hope they are able to continue this for the long run. I've seen way too many restauraunts open with a bang and and then quickly get lazy, sloppy, amd greedy. Soon the prices go up and the food goes down. Hopefully Pho Han will sidestep this trend and continue to put the customer first. Good Luck Pho Han! Two thumbs up!
Are You Gonna Eat That
Most online reviews are positive, but few mentioned how tiny this place is — enough seating for maybe 12 people. It was pretty quiet during our weekday dinner. I’m guessing it’s busier during lunch and weekends. Prices are low, low, low. Pho is $5.99 for small or $6.75 for a large, with rice dishes at $6.99. The subs, which I intend to return for, range from $2.99 to $4.50. The menu covers all your Vietnamese bun and pho basics. I got a large rare beef, tripe and meatball pho ($6.75). I really like that the beef com

Pho Han was opened in the summer of 2011, i.e. it had opened for 6 months already. I had noticed of a new Vietnamese restaurant sign on my way to Costco Richmond via Garden City Road many times but I just cant see the restaurant. Apparently, Pho Han is located on Capstan, just around the corner of the strip mall where Manzo and Prata Man is. It is obscured from view if you travel along Garden City Road. Finally, I had to look up for this new Vietnamese restaurant since Arkensen and Nanzaro is so picky. My life back here is so boring without Ben to over rule the boys. I can only have either Hong Kong style cafe food or Vietnamese food since I came back from Beijing. This place is not big. It seats 24. The service is a little slow though. When we were there, there is only a table of one that is not served yet and we waited quite a bit for the food to arrive. The condiments are as usual but we really like the chili. We like it's texture and taste which is not too spicy. It's like there is
