Got some takeout and ordered/paid online. Took a bit of a wait but the food was good, especially the house seafood congee!

It was our first time here and the food, service, and take-out packaging were absolutely phenomenal. We tried the Black Pepper Diced Beef Tenderloin and the Deep Fried Squid with Chili Salt – both are must-tries. You get a complimentary dessert or congee with the combination menu. The receptionist was very friendly and patient. We ordered multiple take-out dishes, and everything was carefully packaged in a box for our drive home. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the great food and experience!

Great family owned Chinese restaurant with quality food. The service was great snd I enjoyed the the dishes we ordered. I wished we had more people so we can order more variety of food.

Good food and good service, not overly salty or oily like other Chinese restaurants

Just found out about this restaurant today after we searched for late night food. The taste is on point and customer service is phenomenal. It’s very friendly environment to dine in and tbh it’s one of the best Cantonese restaurants we’ve been to!

Very reasonably priced restaurant. We came with 11 people and ordered 8 dishes and the total came to $225 after tip. Their peking duck is pretty well done. Like most Chinese restaurants, you can pick how you like your peking duck. We chose the skin wraps and lettuce wraps.

For the wraps, they give you well cut slices with a bit of meat. I like this because there are some places that don't cut it well and leave not much meat on the duck and leave you with the skin only.

The lettuce wrap dish's duck is well-seasoned and flavourful. My family said that this is one of the best they've had in a while!

Lady boss is attentive and has an eye out for details, service was not an issue. Coming from out of town, this has been a repeat dinner recommendation for the great clay pot rice dishes, marinated duck, and salt and pepper squid. Order the clay pots ahead of time while reserving a table as it is freakishly busy. The food is shocking in terms of quality and taste. Much better than the cookie cutter slop that many other places have resided to serving. The food does not seem to suffer from rush hour and judging from the number of customers that dine every day, it reinforces that this is a great restaurant.

Came for a late night Monday meal after the movies. The place was super packed for Monday night. Being so busy you would think there would be more than one staff to wait the entire restaurant. As a result, there were lots of mishaps that happened to our food and service (lack of it). . We ordered dishes from the late night menu and since it was over $20, we were given unlimited plain congee to share. The dishes that came were definitely a hit or a miss. The plain congee was quite tasty, thick and really flavourful.

After watching Trolls at Marine Drive Cineplex, I went to get a late night dinner at 9:30-ish pm. Sing Yee has a great late night menu which you can get, exclusive to diners coming in after 9 pm, and with over 20 bucks of food you get a huge free congee! They probably have the best fried rice in Richmond- each grain is not too oily and the rice doesn't stick together. Service is efficient, typical of Chinese restos. But don't expect friendly service...

My family came out for dinner on a Saturday evening. We wanted to go to Happy Tree House BBQ on Alexandra Road. But there was no parking available despite we went around the block twice. So, Ben drove to Continental Plaza which he thought parking will be slightly better. Yes, indeed. We had no trouble finding one. We walked over the Firebird Cafe but it was closed without any notice on the door. Strange.

I just found these photos which were tucked away in my folder of “to blog” which I had long forgotten. It was a weekend lunch with the family. I had the Beef Brisket and Tendon Mixed Noodles. You get sticky lips eating the tendon. For a change, Nanzaro ordered a Beef Fried Rice instead of the regular Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice.

I went a few times. It was good at first but got worse and worse. Poor service, rude waitress. When business is particular good, they give you less food. Poor value compared with lots of Chinese restaurant. It averaged $25 dollars for each of us, 8 total and I did not even eat because the food was so poorly prepared. They are always short staffed. So when they are very busy, they just rush out whatever. But I think they are still good when there are few customers or eaters.

I am just not gonna go back anymore. Not for a long while.

Chinese New Year's Eve dinner. Don't ever go to this restaurant on any Chinese holidays unless you are ok with being seated at a much later time than your reservation. We made our reservation a week ago at 730pm, and we weren't seated until 8pm. We were rushed to place our orders, and the restaurant is seated beyond suggested capacity.

Think twice before going to this restaurant on Chinese holidays. Any other day would be fine as the food is reasonably priced and of rather good quality.

We had 2 orders of pigeons (too dried & salty, not as juicy as before), steamed sea brass (bones more than meat, not cook, need to ask them cook longer), stired fried sea brass with veggie (less than 10pcs of fish on celery, not worth for $20), deep fried chicken (dried), seafood tofu chowder (1st they gave us regular soup/ 2nd they gave us seafood in wonton soup after half hour, told the boss to change to right one, because 80 yrs old aunt cannot bite, but the lady Boss black face and don't willing to change it, it's end up.. she changed it after we told her to, but with half ingredients as before, not worth $18), pea sprout with minced garlic (I ordered the one from menu $11, but they charged us $18 on bill; I asked them why? The boss's son told us, that it's bigger size, but we never ask for bigger size). We used to go this place for dinner and midnight snack. BUT WE WON'T GO THERE AGAIN. SO DISAPPOINTED. it's time to find another one.

Stay Away. I have been to many many Chines restaurants, and tonight was one of my worst experiences ever.

We ordered three dishes from their menu, Beef brisket hotpot, Gal Lan with some smoked meat, and chicken with black fungus hotpot, along with their daily soup.

First they tried to sit us at their small table next to the door, which was extra cold, we asked to sit closer inside as we had a small toddler, after some hesitation they agreed.

The soup came out quickly, as did they other dishes, I give them positive points for this. However, the food was completely tasteless. It was as if the food was precooked and just reheated. It was extremely bland to the point it couldn't be eaten. I never tasted such bland food, and the chicken was highly over cooked, and hard. If you wanted their dessert, it was extra.

One weird thing, is one of the waitresses came by, and rearranged the position of our dishes, without asking. The way she positioned it, my wife could not reach some of the food. I then moved it back to the way it was. I see these waitresses giving the bill to other customers, the just drop it on their tables with even a smile or thank you.

We ended up paying nearly $50 for this meal, we could have had a better dinner at the Food court for less than a third of this price.

By the time I got home, I had a stomach ache, and a dry taste in my mouth. The same feeling you get from too much MSG. It's weird, if they added MSG, there still wasn't any flavor to the food.

Thumbs up. Yummy stir fried beef with guy lan. They take care to flash fry the beef for extra tenderness, contrasted with crunchy guy lan.(don't like soggy)

Good choice for food. The boss lady very sociable Food has "wok hey".

Update:
Have not been there for years and decided to give it a try to dinner. Very satisfied with food; understaffed and so so service.
Had the Peking duck, this was done perfectly - no fat or meat attached to the skin. The lettuce wrap was good too.

Will visit again.

Very solid “old fashioned” Cantonese cooking. I’ve missed their take on staples like Congee so I’m glad that satisfaction of a craving is but a short commute away!
Domo Is Craving...
Overall, I thought it was a wonderful experience. The service was quick and the people who works there are very nice and friendly. Also, there are many parking spots at the front of the restaurant so finding a spot was easy-peesy. I seriously highly recommend this place if you are looking for a laid-back place to eat some really yummy Chinese food. Their interior design is nothing fancy at all, it looks just like all other typical Chinese restaurants so don't give too high of an expectation on the interior. Just enjoy the food! :)

Sing Yee is a casual family owned restaurant where you come here for congee, noodles, comfort Chinese food. The restaurant is clean, bright and simple. Their congee is creamy, smooth and velvety. It is not watery nor burnt. It always like to get their watercress with mince dace fish paste , fresh fish slices or salted pork with century egg.

This use to be on Victoria and 41st, kinda away on the side a bit but noticeable enough to its yellow banner lol. They have now moved here in richmond just for me. Just kidding. We ate here a lot back when we were still living in vancouver and haven't really been back since we moved. The food was good and the prices were decent. My dad wanted to treat me for lunch after work and he knew where to go and explained to me the whole thing about this restaurant on our way there. Inside was nothing special. Clean non the less. There are 2 things you can probably notice once you enter, the first thing you can notice is the super high pitch voice of the lady owner. Yes, you can't miss it. And second, the waitress here also works at master hung for dinner service. lol. She didn't really recognize me till I said the words "mater hung" hehe. Our lunch was simple, we picked an item each from the special lunch menu. It came with either a pop or a soup,
FOOD FOR BUDDHA
While we're not ruling this place out, it's most likely not a return for us. For the same price, there are better choices.

If you’re one of those people who get really excited about being the only non-Chinese person at a Chinese restaurant, then get ready to pee in your pants.

Sing Yee Chinese Restaurant in Richmond. I think not many of you would have heard about them. I think if I mention the name Lam Chu Kee, it might ring a bell. Lam Chu Kee closed a few months ago. It was such a sad thing because Lam Chu Kee was one of our go-to Da Lang (late night supper) places. In the same location today is Sing Yee … and Sing Yee doesn't do Da Lang like Lam Chu Kee used to. We decided to go check out Sing Yee. They have these poetic descriptions of what they serve written on the window. Other than the name change, the insides does look the same as it was when it was the previously. I asked them how long they had been opened. It was about 6 months already. Wow, time flies. I swear that Lam Chu Kee had closed just a couple of months prior. 6 months seems way too long for us not to have noticed. I thought maybe the waitress did not know and just blurted out that answer. The waitress also mentioned that Sing Yee is under a new management and does not have anything to d
