Went here to eat dim sum with my family. While there were nine of us and two babies, we ordered whatever we wanted which came about to over ten dishes. This was my first time coming and I have no complaints what so ever. I would definitely recommend checking out their other affiliated restaurants too as they all specialize in different styles of cooking.
The family went out to dinner at the Top Gun J & C restaurant (on McKim Way, off Garden City Road). The motivation was to try someplace new (we tend to stick with our reliable favorites). This time, because Top Gun was voted Diner’s Choice Best Cantonese Restaurant in the annual Chinese Restaurant Awards.
So far Best dim sum of all Richmond. By that, I mean food quality (not too oily, not too salty, texture is right, etc) and service (yes, there's actually service, like polite and actually caring service at a very Cantonese restaurant!) the only down side is that there's not a lot of parking stalls.
Top gun upstairs on the 2nd level is decent for dim sum. and i luv how they serve salmon sashimi during dim sum hours....like, the only place in the lower mainland that does this.
Great Dim Sum. A very popular place for dim sum; reservations advised. Good, tasty food, always served nice and hot. The price is OK, but if you have their Gold card, you could get a feasible part of your bill discounted (time-sensitive - see their website). I always come here for dim sum.
This dim sum restaurant is very popular and often there is a line up during brunch, noon and dinner. I love their shrimp spring rolls, chicken thigh stuffed with fried rice and shrimp dumplings, but I'd say their dinner menu is much superior in quality than their lunch menu. The seafood there is delicious! Especially the king crabs when they are in season as well as the amazing taste of their Geoduck.
I love dim sum very much but it’s my first time to be there. Perhaps it’s because it locates on the second floor of a small square. I really appreciate their tea. Not because of their tea leaves but because of their attitude towards tea. Usually it’s one pot of tea for a whole table, but in Top Gun, people can choose their own tea and each people have their own tea pitcher and tea cup. Of course we have to pay a little extra for this but I think it is worthy. A heads up, the first brew of tea has to be thrown away. It’s like washing the tea leaves... Top Gun J&C becomes one of my favourite dim sum restaurant the very first time I have been there.
Recommended.
My family and I decided to go have brunch at Top Gun the other day and since it was on a weekend, we were already expecting the worst. We arrived there around 1:30pm and just as we predicted, it was still packed with people! Although we ended up only waiting for 30min, it still seemed quite a long time for us because it was already 1:30pm and we were starving! Located at 8766 McKim Way, on the second floor in a strip mall right across from Bubble Queen.Top Gun J&C is a very well known Chinese restaurant here in Richmond that serves one of the best Chinese foods around. If your planning to come here, this place won't be as busy as coming on a weekend but like other Chinese restaurants here, they do fill up pretty fast especially for dim sum! Since they are located in the same mall with a couple of other businesses, they only have a few parking spots allocated for customers to park in so parking might be an issue. However, you can park on the side walk (street parking) but of course it's
Overall, we enjoyed this meal. Everyone was pretty stuffed. Service was very attentive and prompt, (although there was 1 mishap that I’ll overlook) Next time I’ll have to come and try out their dim sum! :)
It's been a while since I've had dim sum with my gang, not sure why, but we definitely need to have it more. This time we checked out Top Gun J&C in Richmond. This restaurant was quiet for Chinese restaurant standards, and somewhat fancy. Our usual dim sum suspects, shrimp dumpling , sui mai , and chinese donuts in rice wrap were delicious. One item I liked a lot and never had before was the scallops and mushrooms in rice wrap dish . The scallops were in big chunks and it was very nice with the mushrooms. The chicken feet or "Phoenix claws" in fancy terms, is something I don't enjoy all the time, but they did a pretty good job with it here. The sauce were sweet with a hint of spiciness, and the meat was very soft with little effort to take it off the bones. As for the desserts, the egg tarts are the way to go here. They were nice, warm and buttery. They were better than the mochi dessert we got. This was a nice and relaxing place to go for dim sum. Like I said, it was quiet a
The Top Gun J&C Restaurant is known as BB&G’s personal canteen because they eat there all the time. I think it must be AT LEAST once a week. LOL! They had eaten here so many times that they had loaded over 200 pictures of the food they had on Urbanspoon (see link here) … on just this one restaurant alone! So no one argues with BB&G when they declare that Top Gun J&C is their personal canteen. The thing is we need to hear from them why they always go to this restaurant. They claim they don’t own
