Review Pho 37 - Richmond

Hidden gem for Pho! One of the best Pho I have ever had. They have this lemongrass chili oil sauce on each table that you can add to your Pho and its super refreshing. Highly recommend the beef carpaccio, it was so tasty with a lemon zing. Amazing Pho!

Awesome pho place that isn't known to a lot of people but is definitely a great spot! Worth a visit

Good food, GREAT service-very fast and attentive waiters. Pho was good, but too sweet for my liking (the second time made me reduce the score to a 3). The special pho (Tuan special or something?) was smokey and interesting. Enjoyed the pork chop- tasted right. Spring rolls are expensive and small. The rest of the menu was small and stuck to basics of Viet food 101. Looks like Vietnamese owned (well, the workers there spoke it anyway). Have tried 4-5 VN restaurants around Richmond, but this one has potential to be a decent one to return to.

Ordered: Bo Tai Chanh (beef carpaccio - delicious, unique, balanced, large portions); Pho Tuan (Tuan’s special beef noodle w/ poached egg). Unique twist , liked the ginger and richer creamy taste. Ample amount of meat & noodles. Worth the price. Staff attentive and quick w/ service. Food came promptly after ordering.

Their fish sauce wings is the best I've had for Vietnamese wings in Richmond and Vancouver. Like wow! Crunchy and meat has a hint of fish sauce salty flavour, very good and just for the wings I would give it a 5 star. We also had beef Pho, the noodles is cooked well and they were long, unlike the other pho place in Main st. had cut up the noodles which is so wrong. The spring rolls taste good and cooked correctly, trust me, i had bad ones and this place does it right. Other times I had the combination - lemongrass chicken on Vermicelli, spring rolls, salad and shrimp roll. This is good for sharing.

This is my most favourite pho restaurant in the Lower Mainland. They have great broth and good portion. Their lemongrass pork chop and chicken are very flavourful too. Even the tea is very aromatic. They even have vegetarian options. The place is clean and service is good. Plenty of free parking available right outside.

Great little spot to find authentic Vietnamese food in Richmond. The value for the price is reasonable, the quality of the food is excellent. The broth for the pho was so delicious that we couldn't stop eating or drinking it. Really soul satisfying on a cold winter's day! The lemongrass chicken and BBQ pork chop dishes on rice were generous and tasty. Our only disappointment was the size and number of roll dips in the appetizer--- too small. The meat to vegetable ratio in the filling was not as packed with ground pork as some other places though. The dipping sauce was good. This is our new favourite for Vietnamese food in Richmond.

I really like all the food here and they plate up very appetizing looking dishes. The takeout is less impactful visually so I really look forward to when I feel comfortable eating inside again. Got two of the Medium Rare Beef Noodle Soup and the Charbroiled Lemongrass Chicken on Rice. The soup comes as usual and there is plenty of beef. The picture of the beef slices you see is half of what was in one order so you get a lot. Pho 37 adds a little more to the chicken as you can see from the darker colour. Like the pho, you get a lot of chicken-two large thick pieces. Both are good value and taste. Another visit for the #21 Charbroiled Lemongrass Chicken and Spring Rolls and the #40 Tuan's Special Beef Noodle Soup. As usual, both dishes looked great. Also as usual, lots of protein. Two large pieces of chicken in the vermicelli bowl. I had read that the soup was smoked but the actually toss some ingredients in a wok first to give is a smoky flavour. The soup base is the same but with the added ingredients even more delicious. Pho 37's soup is great-not too salty and not too thin. #40 just amps up all the flavours. It has rare beef, brisket, and meatballs, bit I ordered without the rare beef. There was a great amount of both brisket and meatballs and the meat on the plate is after I ate half of the meat in the bowl! The soup had pieces of ginger and sliced garlic in it as well. The poached egg was nice to mix in with everything. It is my new favourite soup here. They do not have the 'book' menu with pictures now, just the same one for take out. I did not notice if the menu was different. Daniel

Me and my wife went in for the first time today for lunch. I had the Lemongrass chicken on rice. The serving is larger by half a portion from what I've been given at other pho places, well cooked, well seasoned. The salad didn't have a dressing like I'm used to but I found with the bigger portion of chicken and rice that it was quite refreshing. My wife had the Spicy noodle soup with spring rolls. A good size portion with plenty of meat for the bowl and more veggies too. The staff were great. When we walked in I liked the way the ceiling and walls were decorated. A nice atmosphere, will go back and bring more people with me.

Absolutely love this place. Service is always fast and friendly. I have been eating here since they opened and the food quality has never let me down. A must try if you haven't already.

Best Vietnamese venue in Richmond if not the entire lower mainland. Dishes are wonderfully presented but best of all, their soup base is literally free of MSG. The ambience there is amazing as it is not your typical Vietnamese restaurant full of decor clusters, instead it is very modern and clean. But of course the food is what's most impressive, I've never been disappointed before..... And lastly, the service is top notch, servers are always tentative!!! A MUST try if you haven't gone yet.

I ordered the seafood on vermicelli noodles. The sauce was grey and the noodles were completely mushy. I told the waitress it was unappetizing, looked disgusting and I couldn't eat it. She took my order to the kitchen. When she returned, she told me I could have the same sauce on rice or she could put THIS same order in a to-go package but I would need to pay for it. I told her calmly that I was not going to eat it...now or ever, so I wasn't going to pay for it. I ordered the spring rolls instead. They brought the order to me in a huff, did not bring a utensil except for a soup spoon. When I got up to pay, I received LECTURE on how next time I would HAVE to pay for anything I ordered. She wanted to argue with me. I told her there will NEVER be a next time. I never been treated more poorly in any restaurant.

Probably the best pho place in Richmond imho. I kinda dont want to say that because I actually want to just keep this place to myself so I don’t have to wait in line too long.

Great bang for your buck! Generous portions, great taste. Be sure to be real hungry before stepping into this establishment. One thing I wasnt too keen on was the chicken on my vermicelli bowl had a lot more skin/fat than chicken....

My friend Geoff has been raving their "special pho" for a couple months now and I just had to try it out for myself see what all this hype was about. Tucked in Ironwood, mall, Pho 37 is a relatively small Vietnamese restaurant.

As we sat down, we ordered 4 bowls of #40 for the four of us. Number 40, "Chef Tuan's Special" is the pho that my friend had been talking about non-stop. When our bowls of noodles arrived, you could already smell that there's something irregular about the soup. To our surprise, there was also a yellow egg yolk sitting at the top of our broth. This is extremely unusual and I don't think I've ever gotten this at any Vietnamese restaurant I've been to before. We were intrigued.

I immediately picked up a spoon to taste this broth. The broth is really unlike any pho broth I've had. It's garlicky, it's smokey, it's full of flavour. I noticed that some of their meats are slightly charred, which explains the smokey taste to the broth. I totally understand why Geoff speaks so highly of this place. It definitely lived up to its hype for me. I can't wait to come back next already!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You can follow more of my foodie adventures on Instagram @blackholetummy (´・ω・`)

Would give it a 5 star if not for the inconsistent service. Some days you get service.. And other days you don't. We dine here at least once a month because it is one of the best pho restaurants in Richmond. Try their beef tenderloin pho, it's a bit pricier than your average pho at $14.50, but so worth it. Their spring rolls and lemongrass chicken is so so good. Better than 'Green Lemongrass' but, again, pricier. Their restaurant is always busy with lineups out the door during rush hour any day of the week.

Another Pho post? Pho noodles are one of those things we never get bored of since it satisfies many of our taste buds. This time we checked out Pho 37 in the Ironwood strip mall. We walked by here many times but never thought to try it out. It’s usually packed with people but this time it was not so busy since it was after the lunch rush on a Saturday afternoon. We happily walked in and got a nice spacious booth.

My go to Pho place in Richmond! I always end up getting the #40. The broth is so flavourful and tastes absolutely amazing! I think the meat is grilled before it’s added into the broth which gives it a smoky flavour! Super unique and tasty.
Picky Diner
I took Mom here for a quick dinner and I didn’t hesitate to order the Tuan’s Special Pho (item #40) that I really liked before. But the noodle soup looked different from what I had back then. As it looked just like a bowl of regular “everything” pho with a raw egg in it, it tasted not much different as well. The ginger flavour I could remember from back then seemed a little watered down, and there were no meatballs. Even the presentation looked a bit lacking. However, the whole dining experience was saved by the BBQ Ribs on Rice with that amazing sweet and savoury marinade with a touch of lemon grass and fish sauce. Mom loved it and so did I. She thought it was similar to Cantonese BBQ pork but with exotic flavours and I agreed.

Food is OK, price is fair. but waitresses attitude is so bad, it literally feels like I owe her money!! After I told her I was ready to order, she went to the table next to us and doing her thing. then she silently appear behind me and just stood there. after a while, I realized her is behind me and ready to take my order. I was surprised, confirm with her she was ready to take my order. again she is constantly shit faced during the order taking. Would not recommend to anyone.

I have been to Pho 37 3 times in the past week and have visited Pho Ten which is just across the parking lot recently as well.
I am extremely happy with the quality of food here. I have tried many different things on the menu and all have been delicious. The Sate Peanut noodle soup is to die for! I tried their special beef noodle as well and was very happy with the taste.

I will definitely visit Pho 37 again!

We've had it all here - the tea, the pho, the rice, the chicken, the sandwiches - and Pho 37 is consistent at delivering. Food is no less than marvellous. From their Beef Satay Peanut Soup to their Banh Mi to their Lemongrass Chicken, this place proves to be true contender for the Top Pho Joint in Richmond! Aside from their kitchen prowess, their ambience, consisted of a very polished and decorated interior and soothing music (which almost sounds live!), truly makes the most of their small and almost awkward space. While everything else is practically perfect, the only 0.5 that impedes a perfect rating is from inexperienced service from some new servers, who were kind and outgoing but came across unprofessional at times when interacting. Nonetheless, Thanks for all the consistently great meals, Pho 37!

Pho 37 is a small pho joint located at Ironwood mall. We came here for lunch on Sunday and it was packed with people already. We wait for 15 minutes so it was not bad.The broth here is MSG free, I was really looking forward to taste the real richness of the beef soup! We came here mainly for their signature Pho tuan that we have heard lots of raving reviews. And I agree that Pho Tuan is a MUST EAT at Pho 37!

I haven't eaten in this restaurant ever since it was renamed Pho 37 (formerly known as "Red Pagoda"). Red Pagoda was very good so I was hopeful that their food didn't change with the name. My friend and I had lunch here and were greeted upon entrance. I ordered chargrilled chicken with spring rolls and rice. We didn't have to wait for long before our food arrived, and as soon as it did, I was pleased because it was the same meal I used to order before. It was delicious!! Quality food! The service was great too; they're so friendly. I will definitely be back!

Pho is 37 awesome! The service is good, but the food wins the prize. The spring rolls are delicious. I'd never tried spicy peanut pho before but now that I have I don't want it any other way. My boyfriend gets the Vietnamese subs and he enjoys them a lot. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a photastic experience !

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I voted a 1 but I'd vote a 0 if that was an option. Me and my boyfriend went here for dinner 2 days ago... Got different things and BOTH got food poisoning. It's been 39 hours and we're both still unable to eat any solids. On the plus side, we've both lost 5 lbs.
Candy_foodie
The food here are so yummy, I love the spring roll. My husband love their beef stew, comparing to other restaurant, they gave a lot of beef. The curry is good, i just find their rice are dry and hard so I didn't eat the rice. The viet sub is good too. It sucks that theres no smoothie even though it's in the menu. The service are good, quite friendly.Price are good. I would recommend people to come here.

A not-so-hole in the wall place. From the outside, you can almost miss it. Nestled between quiznos and save on foods, this place is a real gem! As soon as you walk in, you realize it is much more bigger and cleaner than you had imagined. I most definatly had to try their signature dish - #40 , tuan noodle soup. It is SO good! The meat has a charred, bbqd flavour to it... giving the entire bowl a unique flavour. Out of all the places I've had pho (and believe me, I've tried quite a lot) this bowl definatly is in my top 3!

It is was a pleasant surprise to visit this restaurant and receive such a great service.
We ordered Peanut Sate Pho, Charbroiled lemongrass chicken with rice and salad and Spicy beans and tofu with rice, food was good, loved their presentation too.

Service - 5/5
Ambience - 3.5/5
Quality - 4/5
VFM (Value for money) - 4/5
CPP (Cost per person) - $10

Domo Is Craving...
The other day me and Phil were wandering around Ironwood specifically looking for either a sushi or a pho place to try out. Unfortunately one of the sushi restaurants were closed already so we ended up going to Pho 37. From the outside, you can tell it is a very small restaurant and it seems very dark, but the interior gave off a total different vibe. It is a very narrow restaurant but they utilized the space very well with booth and banquette seating and they have these big rounded light fixtures which really brightens the place up.

I noticed that there is a new Vietnamese restaurant in Ironwood Plaza while I drove by after having lunch in Pho Ten with Nanzaro. This new Pho 37 has taken over the location of Red Pagoda which was also a Vietnamese Restaurant. When we asked the server about the name of the restaurant, we were told that 37 is a lucky number for the owner according to a fortune teller.
Blue Lobster Foodie
As a semi-frequent visitor to Ironwood Mall in Richmond, I usually take notice when a new business opens up there, especially if it’s an eatery. A little over a year ago, I remarked upon a new dining establishment that had just opened after considerable construction was carried out on the inside. When I saw the banners reading, “Vietnamese Restaurant” and “Grand Opening,” my excitement grew, as I’m always keen to find new places to satisfy my Vietnamese fix.
Every Day Is A Food Day
Of course, my go to pho is always the House Special Pho , since you get everything in a bowl of noodles. There was rare beef, tendon, beef balls and tripe. The noodles were quite typical, nothing too special but it did its job. The soup didn’t have any MSG, yet it was very flavourful. S got the Lemongrass Chicken Rice , which I believe was some sort of combo since it came with a variety of sides as well. You got fried spring rolls as well as shrimp rolls and a side of salad. Perfect for those who want to try a bit of everything. We were surprised how nicely the dish was plated. Probably one of the best looking Vietnamese platings I’ve seen and not at a high price. S said this was quite good and the portion was perfect to fill you up. Overall, our experience at Pho 37 was quite good. Prices are quite reasonable and the food is great. Plus, the ambiance is definitely one of the better compared to your typical pho spots. Pros: – Nice plating and decent eats – Ambian

A New Pho in Town. It's a new place yet their food is excellent. Their lunch time is packed so we usually go there in the evening. It's calm and enjoyable. Service is great and fast. I would recommend their Spring Rolls and Beef noodle soup. The broth is so flavourful and rich. It's my favourite place for Pho now.
Miss A
I have always loved eating Pho and it all started as a child. I remember the 1st Pho place I went to back in the days was located in Chinatown where Phnom Penh is now located. My parents took us for Pho often as a bowl of Pho is considered "Asian style fast food" and it became a comfort food of mine!!! So, with that said, I'm extremely critical of the quality of Pho I eat. I've probably tried every Vietnamese Pho places across Lower Mainland and I have to say Pho 37 is by far the B.E.S.T place to have pho as well as other Pho shop classics.

In my opinion, the broth is what M.A.K.E.S a bowl of PHO!!! The pho broth is clear yet very rich in flavours and BEST of all, you can finish the entire bowl of broth and not feel thirsty at Pho 37. Their signature HOUSE SPECIAL is #40 on the menu called "Pho Tuan", it is named after the head chief. The noodles aren't overcooked, the bean spouts and herbs are extremely fresh. The food is fantastic and the best part is their generous portions at a very reasonable price!!! The food comes out very quickly and UNLIKE most Vietnamese restaurants where service is not always pleasant, you will be waited on as if you were at a 5 STAR hotel!!! Reason is simple, it is a family owned business so they value their customers more than if they were just holding down a job as a waitress (make sense doesn't it???)

They will cater to your every dining needs, and if you request for more beansprouts with your pho the servers (Linda- owner's wife) and (Jass) will N.O.T give you a stingy face!!! LOL

The interior will shock you, it is very modern and chairs/booths are very comfortable UNLIKE other typical Vietnamese restaurants where it's quite cluster with busy looking decors, the ambiance at Pho 37 is probably one of the better looking Pho restaurants in the Lower Mainland.

In summary, I can say with confidence that Pho 37 is THE Pho place to go to in Richmond if not in the entire Lower Mainland!!! Please do yourself a favor and visit this place!!! And if you say you're a FB friend of yours truly Miss A, you'll get a 10% discount off your entire bill ;)
Oh and lastly, their deep fried banana ice-cream is heavenly, a M.U.S.T try!!!

Located inside the Ironwood Plaza it is nestled right beside Quiznos at 11666 Steveston Hwy, Richmond.
