Review Pho 99 Vietnamse Noodle House - Richmond

John Wu (Bun)
I ordered a large house special pho with beef stock and iced coffee with condense milk for take out. My big complain is the soup is very flat single dimension tasting. Not much depth and layering like other Pho restaurants I tried beforey. Also, the soup is very salty... Luckily I ordered a iced coffee. I was surprised that I can order different stock to go along with the Pho. Some examples for the stock are chicken, beef and Seafood. Large Pho wise the quantity of the noodles and the meats were decent. I had more in quantity in other Pho restaurants. The Iced Coffee is decent. I had better one I can't comment on price because my co-worker paid for me. Am I satisfied? No. Would I come back? No, Unless no better place is available

Came in this afternoon with my co-worker at around 1pm to try out this place. She told me they got a good "bun bo hue" #21, i tried out, oh yeah, very tasty, i love it. My friend ordered the Lemon grass pork chop on rice. It came with a combo with a drink and 2 big pieces of juicy pork chop and a soup for around $ 14. Good price, good service and food is very delicious. They have free wifi here and free parking behind the restaurant. Will come here more often from now for sure

The place was surprisingly quiet during lunch hours on a Saturday. I love their phos, especially the soup base (hot and tasty). Parking at rear was quite easy. Highly recommend this place and will definitely go again.

Great service. The pho was very good. A different soup base that what I’ve had in the past but not bad at all. Reasonable prices. There is a kid’s meal option (small bowl of pho and a soda), which is a nice touch. Our 9 year old loved it. All in all a great experience.

Love love love! Best pho restaurant in Richmond! And i can drink too! Reasonable price, highly recommended

Every time I come here, it's deserted, not sure why. The food is ok, not the worst but definitely not the best. Fairly inexpensive. $14 you can choose a main dish, an appetizer and a drink.

This is the second time we have eaten here and both times we have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. #74 and#73 and fabulous freshmade ice-cream and deep fried banana for dessert. Can't say enough good things about the food!

First time and I loved it! The beef stew with noodles is off the chain! And Lina (waitress) was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely go back whenever I'm in YVR.

Poor service. Misleading. -Got delivery (which they charged 8 dollars for, despite their website offering free delivery).... - once received, price on the receipt was 1-2 dollars more per item than that stated on their online menu. -I was missing an item (soup that went with my rice meal). And no one competent enough on their end to address these issues with. -pho broth was not good and the rice dish was just alright. Will be telling my friends to avoid this place.

Yummy food with good combination choices and a wide variety of Vietnamese food. Their pho broth is so tasty and comes with a side dish of bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeno and limes (most places I go to now omit half of those). Also you have to try their crispy chicken wings.

Lunch alone - comforting soup and generous portions. One of those eat and leave places that you can count on for a fuss free lunch.

This is one among the authentic taste Vietnamese restaurant in the city area. Service is quick, the portions are adequate if not more than other restaurants. Price is also considerable.

We came with a group of 25 for Christmas party today. It was packed . The beef Noodle soup are really really good, BBQ grill vermicelli is very tasty. Must try the " Bun Bo Hue" and " Bo Kho" . I Couldn't find anywhere else serve good " beef stew" like them. My boss ordered the tofu. He told me yummy too. My husband got the combo comes with " pho dac biet #18" and salad roll , Ice milk tea only $13. Big portion with this deal. Can't wait to come back again.

In the interest of full disclosure, I had this meal before they closed for the night.
Pros: Meal comes with main entree of Pho, appetizer, and drink. The drink tasted alright and the salad roll was slightly above average.
Cons: The Pho's soup tasted bland, the rice noodles were overcooked, the spicy oil smelled a bit off compared to other Pho establishments. Furthermore, the restroom is even worse than Pho Hoa.

Best Vietamese Food I've tasted so far, had their soup noodle combo. Chicken pho, spring rolls and an iced milk tea. Soup was flavourful and not oily! Most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to so far the soup is somewhat sweet but not here, it is so nice and the chicken is so tender. Loved it! It is open till very late too with spacious parking lot in the back. It is now my regular go to place for pho ! Would definitely come back and recommend this place!

○poor / slow service
○family friendly
○food was mediocre similar to most Vietnamese restaurants, nothing really stood out / special pho (pho Dac biet) generally has beef balls but this place Doesn't so that's odd
○free parking in the back
○if I had to choose 1 dish : lemongrass chicken
○would I go back? Maybe

May 15, 2016

Just came back from a long day trip from Bellingham. I was starving out of my mind. I got the Pho Combo which consisted with a chosen Pho, appetizer, and drink. I got the House Special Pho (large) with spring roll and iced lemon tea. The pho was definitely lacking some meat. It was almost of if I was just eating plain noodles. My boyfriend got the Pho and Meat combo, where he chose lemon grass chicken. The chicken was super tender and juicy. Super tasty.

FYI, review not as detailed since I was so hungry I literally devoured it in 5 minutes and couldn't really remember how it tasted, LOL.

We purchased a groupon and tried out their $32 for a 5 course tasting menu for two people. The Richmond location is one of their many locations in the lower mainland franchised to different owners. You won’t miss seeing this restaurant if you frequent the Richmond eat street aka ‘Alexandra Rd’.

I ordered from just-eat.com for delivery for a certain time and I had called multiple times to see if it was on its way and multiple times they had told me that it is being made and there was issues with the driver. It came almost two hours later. The orders that stated it came with soup came with nothing. The rice was one hard ball clumped together. All-in-all, it was bad.

1st time i come to Richmond, i am searching for good vietnamese restaurant on trip advisor, yelp, urban....i decide to try dinner in Pho 99 restaurant in Richmond, food is really good, service friendly, location near my hotel Laquinta, the price is reasonable, restaurant clean,... i will recommend my family & friends come to Pho 99.

Great Pho and fantastic chicken wings. The pho here is fantastic. Love the spicy soup. Portions are generous. The owner gave me an order of chicken wings on the house. The wings were one of the best I've ever had. Will definitely be back again !! Highly recommended.

I've been craving lemongrass chicken for WEEKS. Weeks I tell ya. Ever since I got back from Vietnam a few months ago, I've been craving it like crazy. Yes, there are better Vietamese restaurants in Richmond (Green Lemongrass, Pho Han, Pho Ho for example) but I just felt like coming here because it was close by haha! I did read a few mediocre reviews about this place but I decided to go anyway LOL. What's the worst that can happen? Well, to my surprise, I actually had a pretty good meal here!! I really appreciated the fact that they had a bike rack at the front!! I always have trouble finding bike racks so I usually have to resort to locking my bike on a pole -.- During my meal one of the owners actually came out to chat with me LOL in Mandarin!! Maybe it was my camera?? He asked me where I was from...and I was like "Um...burnaby?" LOL!! I always find it confusing when people ask me where I'm from, are they referring to my ethnicity, my nationality, or where I live? He also asked if I was a student, and told me that students part of the UBC food club get a discount, and that I should join, and bring my friends! And then he asked me if it was my first time I was here, and I was like "Yes" and he was like "Ah I see, no wonder!" No wonder I was taking pictures? LOL. I didn't tell him I was a blogger though because I didn't want to receive biased/favourable treatment! I've been slowly eating my way through all the restaurants on Alexandra Road in Richmond (aka Eat St!) and Pho 99 is located right on the end of Alexandra, across from Cattle Cafe & Deer Garden!! Pho 99 is a chain (I know, I know, foodies shudder at at that word haha) with locations in Richmond, Coquiltlam, and Vancouver!! "Best Vietnamese Restaurant in North America" Woww, that's quite the claim isn't it? ;) You can check out their full menu here: http://pho99vn.com/Menu.html Happy Hour!! Free drinks!! :D Hot Salted Lemonade 3.5/5 stars This was pretty awesome!! I would imagine this would be g

Worst service ever. Staff weren't helpful. Asked for tea and water. 10minutes after no sign... Went up to the counter to ask for water.. 3'min later we got our water.. No cups.. Got our food. . Still no cups for the tea and water... Finished our food.. Still no sign .. Went back to the counter to ask for cups finally got it... Paid with no tip. The lady got mad asking for tip.. Then we left.. The guy ran after us asking for tip.. So i told him if he gave better service then i would have given him some tip.

Yummy. I've been here a few times. I usually order one of the house specials. The pho is quite tasty and the price is pretty good. I usually get my food pretty quick.

Everyday Is A Good Day !. When you come here, be sure to order this dish!

It is authentic to every taste like the capital city in North Vietnam. The veggies dish are rich and plentiful! The portion is huge so it is a very great sharing plate with someone.

Also you must order their Banh Mi Ga Nuong ! That's A Special Vietnamese Chicken Sandwich with very Crispy Skin combined with Lemon Grass Grill Chicken and a lot of Veggies, super super yummy!

Their Homemade Fresh Fruits Smoothies r also a PLUS such as Avocado MilkShake, Durian MilkShake, and StrawBerryShake...! That's So Delicious !

After writing this review, I will pay a visit again tomorrow and many more for sure !

That's What I'm Looking For !. I'm a really big fan of Vietnanese cuisines since I always go to Vietnanese restaurant around the Richmond areas almost every 2-3 days after work but I couldn't really find one that fits my picky Taste. Lol. However, till I had a chance to been to Pho 99 in Richmond invited by my friend's birthday party. I was so impressed with The Food. The Services and The Atmosphere overthere. That's really won my heart. I Love their Special Menu such as The House Special Beef Nooble Soup, The Vietnamese Sandwich. Especially, The Fresh Fruits Avocado Smoothy. I'm gonna come back for sure with my family tomorrow again. I'm So glad that I finally found A Vietnamese Restaurant that fits my needed. Thanks Pho 99 for the excellent food and services.

Delicious Broth at pho99 richmond. We live in Richmond and like pho99 richmond a lot because we find the food is less greasy than other Vietnamese restaurants.
We decided to come here especially to try their "special chicken wings", thinking whether there can be a replacement for Phnom Penh.We tried the beef noodles in soup and it was very good! We also ordered a bowl of "Bun bo hue"The broth is delicious, and banh cuon (vietnamese steam roll with meat) so delicious.
my girl friend love their seafood noodle. The meat/fish/shrimp is great. and my little sister order the deep fried house tofu with homemade sauces.
They make fresh smoothies with very fresh fruit such as Avocado, and strawberry.
I was a bit surprised to see the nice decoration of this restaurant with coconut tree around and booth seating. The interior is very clean and well lit
we came with a big group of 8 people, they place is packed up, i like their BIG FREE....parking especially in Richmond, it is hard to find a good restaurant with free parking.
we saw a big group tourist in front of the restaurant, every body leave with smile. tthis place is awesome. quick service, delicious food,

Best Vietnamese Restaurant in richmond. I come to pho 99 richmond location almost every week, I like the House Special fried chicken wings are yummy, I love their Delicious Pho, and BUN BO HUE, BO KHO –beef stew is very good too. I tried many different pho restaurants, but its not as good as Pho 99.
I liked that the broth was not too salty but was flavorful enough to drink as a soup. Friendly services.
They got a great price too, with a combo included MAIN COURSE, APPRETIZER and DRINK less than $10, big portion.
you can create your own combo, it is the best way attract me return everyweek.
Numerous awards posted on the walls. I love it!

Terrible customer service. Do not go to this restaurant. They made me the wrong dish and refused to give me a new one. Attitude is atrocious. They proceeded to charge me the same price saying "next time they'll make it for me" and "the kitchen already made it". Place is dirty. Food tasted stale. Avoid at all costs.

Good soup and very clean. I took my girlfriend and a big team of us (16 people) after work last night. She was craving some noodle soup, while I was after some saucy rice dish, and we both and friends hurry to order a lot of food.. We got exactly what we wanted, everything tasted great, (Lemon grass chicken rice, spring roll , seafood noodle, Vietnamese sub, Bon Bo Hue with a little spicy soup , chicken wings, salad rolls, of course their house special combination of beef noodle soup was extreme good, it was hot when delivered to our tables. They were awesome) and the price is perfect. They got a very good deal of Set menu; we can make our own combination of Pho, appetizer and beverage for less than $ 9. The "cafe sua da" (iced Vietnamese coffee) is excellent too, and they also have great milk tea, soda lemonade, green tea ice cream, I looked at the menu, so many choices for me to choose from???? Oh my god I need to go there every week to try all of them ... The service is usually with a smile, and the food is often prompt... We'll be dining there again soon.

Food
Service
Value
Ambiance

Below average. Unfortunately, the meat they used in their pho was not very fresh and tasted like it had been in the fridge for awhile. However, the spring roll was hot and crispy. With so many choices for pho, I likely won't be back.

Bad food! Small portion, NOT FRESH!. Quite disappointed with the food here, ingredients are not fresh, small portion even ordered Large size. Overall, I would NOT recommended and won't come back for sure!

Deceitful billing. I went to eat there with my BCDailyDeals coupon (Get $20 worth of food with $10). The food was fine but we were horrified to see an automatic 15% tip and HST charged on top of the food total and TIP. Had we not taken a closer look, we would have accidentally tipped twice! Just a warning to all future customers!

Can't get enough of their tofu and chicken wings!!. My family and I frequent this place. We just can't get enough of their tofu, the sauce is just delicious. Their chicken wings are very tasty too. The price is reasonable and it's kid friendly.
They also serve bubbletea but it's only okay. I would rather go to a real bubbletea shop. Overall great food.

The food is great, the price is right.we go to this restaurant frequently.i think the dishwasher was having an off-night the last time we visited the place. Overall,i would recommend to eat here.

When I come here, I usually order a vermicelli bowl. This is the lemongrass chicken w/ spring roll on vermicelli. 8/10. The flavour is really there, I can taste everything in one bite. Not a lot of MSG which is good. The noodle wasn’t too soggy or to hard. It was just okay. Spring rolls in the bowl was not bad. Had a lot of flavours and was very crispy! Literally my favourite.

Pho 99 boasts of receiving accolades to prove they serve the best Pho in North America. I don’t know how credible the awards are, but decided to drop by and try it out anyways. The menu offers an extensive selection of Pho, rice, appetizers and drinks. Nothing really stands out as unique compared to other Pho or Vietnamese restaurants. I went on to order the raw beef Pho with a salad roll, along with a Viet coffee. I will say (disappointingly) that the meal was at par. The food was tasty, but it wasn’t spectacular (which I would have expected from “the best pho in North America”) But overall, a nice Pho joint with decent food and fair prices, the ambiance is good and it’s still worth a visit.

I’m pleased to find that instead of baggy-clothed criminals, I’m greeted by a variety of lily-pads sitting atop a small water fountain. Coconut trees line the walls. White tiles populate the floors, and small tables are dispersed throughout the room. They have a simple economic look, with black chairs standing by them.

Will I return? Probably. Usually my place to go to for Vietnamese food. The lemongrass chicken is quite possibly the only dish I crave here!

What I first noticed when we walked in was the decorations around the booths. It was also pretty clean, so it made it a lot more comfortable to dine in. On the wall, there's a poster showing you what some of the dishes look like.

After having liege waffles and hot chocolate at Leonidas , we headed back to Richmond for dinner at Pho 99. My parents had been there before and they said the food was pretty bad, so we went there with the sole purpose of using up our remaining deal voucher. Silly me... Why did I buy so many deal vouchers? The place looked better than I had imagined with its bright and clean and new-looking sign. The interior was a different story. The tables and seats didn't look particularly clean, but I suppose I've seen worse. The menus looked like they had been dropped into the toilet, blown dry and taped back together because the pages were hopelessly wrinkly and grimy. I flipped through the pages and found that the prices were really cheap! We ordered 2 set combos to share ($8.95 each). Each combo included a choice of appetizer, an entree and a drink. After we placed our orders, the waitress brought over the typical garnish plate of bean sprouts, basil and lime wedges. As usual I left it alone.
Ed Lau
Pho 99 isn’t the best pho place in the city but it’s a solid choice for a good meal and the combo deals are very good value for money. Order the wings!

The location of this restaurant used to be a Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant called Coco Chili. Boyfriend and I liked that place, and were a bit disappointed it closed down. However there did seem to be a fly problem there before, which we didn’t like. T

So it looks like I may be taking a trip to Vietnam this winter. Not sure if this is influencing my eating experiences of late, but with two bowls of pho consumed over the past four days, I am beginning to wonder if its somehow subliminal. My latest outing

There is a new Pho in town. It's called Pho 99. We saw it on the adverts they placed on the local papers. Every now and then, when Nanzaro had one of his Pho cravings, he'll demand that the entire family go with him. He always wanted to go back to the sam
