Review The Chef's Playground Eatery - Richmond

Seating is pretty limited but the food is pretty tasty and well prepared. The croissant is fluffy and the eggs are fine just right. The hash brown isn't what I prefer but it's satisfactory. Seasoning at this place for all of the items on the plate is well done.

Very unique taste of burgers. Flavourful , but a bit pricy . One guy on the kitchen and one server takes 20-30 min for order for 3 person ! The mushroom truffle burger was nice .

The parmesan onion rings and dipping sauce were delicious! My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and I ordered the Mac and cheese with short rib. Both were delicious. Excellent and fast service!

Yes. We,re Eating Again.
"Where chefs think outside of the box" is how the Chef's Playground Eatery describes itself and the menu reflects both a rather mischievous creativity and a bit of an obsession with freshness. We were excited to try this little cafe. This was to be stop number two for us, of the 2018 Vanfoodster's Burger Challenge. Located just a couple of blocks from the Steveston waterfront, the folks are friendly here and service is good! We arrived during the brunch period on the weekend and to be fair, the Vanfoodster Burger Challenge details indicate that their challenge offering is available for lunch and dinner. What followed was a brief breakdown in communication between myself and our server where I thought that I was ordering the Truffle Mushroom Cheesy Burger but what I actually got was the Bacon Cheddar V2.0 Burger. This was a nicely cooked (not overcooked) burger with all the stuff I hope for on a burger so I can't complain but no truffle mushroom ailoli ! I may have to return just to try their challenge offering...such hardship! Marie and I agreed that the fries were above average as well, being hand cut and skin on. To offset the burger and fries we shared a Chef's Healthy Salad with a citrus yogurt dressing, a nice selection of tasty greens and some bit of strawberry, apple and Mandarin sections. Very Nice! Now, I am not a fresh fruit juice guy. I don't put it into the same category as Goop products but I find that people who juice tend to believe it will solve all their problems. That was not the case at Chef's Playground where they offer a refreshing juice for brunch just as a nice way to start your day! This one was cucumber, apple and celery with a nice little mint garnish. It was very refreshing although maybe just a bit sweeter than I prefer. We enjoyed our visit to Chef' Playground and hopefully we will get back to try their burger entry in the challenge. Still no regrets as we enjoyed a tasty brunch!

I would like to introduce you all to my new favourite restaurant in Steveston, Richmond – Chef’s Playground Eatery. Since I wanted to fully enjoy the sunshine, my friend decided to drive to Steveston, and here we are concluding our night with this fabulous dinner. Steveston is full of hidden gem, and this restaurant is particularly unique. The restaurant is cozy. I love their open kitchen a lot! There are only two people running the restaurant, the chef and the server! I was very impressed that they still manage to serve the food in a timely manner. Chef told us that their menu changes seasonally, or whenever he felt like it. And more importantly, from the balsamic glaze to the syrup of the drinks, they are all made IN HOUSE!

Definitely a hidden gem in Steveston -- I've to Chef's Playground several times now and I can say that their eggs benedict is the best you'll find south of the Cambie bridge and definitely one of the best in the GVR, period (it holds its own against Medina, Yolks, and Forage). Every single time we've had it the eggs are soft poached to perfection and the hollandaise is on point. Plus their home made focaccia is a great upgrade over traditional uninspired english muffins.

Service is also very friendly and attentive and Spencer makes every visit a treat. At $9 it's a no-brainer!

Ordered the avocado mushroom eggs Benedict for brunch! It was so good; generous portion, the bread was so good and had a bit of sweetness to it; For only 9 bucks this is an awesome place for brunch!

Staff was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

This place opened up a couple of weeks ago. Tried their pulled pork sandwich. Great value and taste. The food is something I would expect from places charging much more but it's only $11.5. Highly recommended for casual lunch and dinner. Their fries is definitely a highlight

My friend recommended Chef's Playground Eatery after she sat in during their soft opening. I decided to try out their food after hearing they offer take-out, and sure enough, they didn't disappoint! I ordered the chicken and chips, and got the steak and frites for my mother. The server told me they also had a special seasonal dessert going, a sourdough bread pudding donut which was the perfect way to end off the meal. Altogether it came to less than 40 dollars! A great bite at a great deal - we will be eating here again.

Small and cozy restaurent, friendly staff and most importantly, good food. You need to try their triple garlic fries and the modern earl drinks! We also in love with the steak n frie. Will be back to try the rest of the menu for sure.

Visited Chef's Playground Eatery during lunch time. The server was friendly and informed me it was a new restaurant. I opted for the Bacon Cheddar Burger with fries. It was an above burger and the patty seemed to be larger than what they serve in other restaurants. The server stated the fries were cut from fresh potatoes. Best of all it was all for only $10.5! Great value, great food, and friendly staff. Will definitely visit again while at Steveston Village.
