Great Indian food at very attractive price!!!!
Shahi Paneer and Rasmalai is just heaven☺️☺️☺️☺️
This Indian restaurant in Vancouver can easily give the restaurants in India a run for their money
Awesome 😍😍😍😍
Me and my husband's favorite place for Indian food in Richmond. I am a fan of their eggplant bhartha, naan, palak paneer, and malai kofta. The service was quick and food was good. Maybe a little hot for the Canadian Palate but it was just perfect for us. Will visit again soon.
My wife hadn’t started work yet so we went for dinner nearby so she wouldn’t be late. I ordered the fish masala and was very impressed with the food. On the night in question it was very busy and service was a little slow but the wait was worth it.
Really good.
Me and friend both had the lunch special plate.
Fantastic flavours and an outstanding value.
Even the rice was perfect.
If I lived or worked nearby Id be a regular happy customer.
This place epitomizes what my "Bang4Buck" handle is all about.
In this case, the food being prepared/served is so good that every other factor is secondary.
Lesser food with an amazing local or decor could maybe match this,...but doughtful.
I work in Richmond and wanted to try a new place. I looked up places on Zomato and this is one place that came up. My husband and I walked in. Following is was an employee of a neighboring pizza joint and shoved her way through to go up to the counter (I’d imagine to order). It took a few minutes for the staff to notice us and to invite us to come sit. Once seated, staff brought us menus. I noticed that the prices were different then shown on this site. We enquirered and informed that the hire prices included naan and rice vs the other menu of lower prices which does not include naan or rice. The server left us and no one came back for quite some time. I noticed the rude pizza employee was chatting up a storm with this establishments front end staff (I was on a time crunch and needed to order ASAP). Finally someone came over and took our order. I ordered chicken tikka masala (medium) and my husband ordered fish masala (hot). 10-15 minutes later, the food came out. For being a medium in spicy, it was borderline hot. I didn’t mind. The food was good, a bit heavy on the salt, the dish could have used less of it, but good.
Best indian restaurant around for quality, value and price. We've been going for many years and the quality hasn't changed for nearly 13 years. Our favourite dishes are the Shahi Paneer and the Tandoori Chicken. The dishes are very rich but so good for a treat. We often get take out to freeze at home because they give you massive servings. The owner is wonderful and always recognizes us when we come in.
Good food, lazy staff.
Supports to clost at 2230, came at 2140 they told me kitchen was shut already.
And last time came here I waited over 40 mins for my food.
Best Indian I've found in Vancouver as far as the food goes. I don't care about ambience so 5 for me. Probably been 20+ times. Tremendous value.
One of my favorite Indian restaurants to go. Reasonable prices, perfect portions (by perfect I mean I'd be full but not like all you can eat full) I've even seen quite some peoples end up packing to go...(maybe I just have a large appetite). The only down side is the wait. Sometimes, they can take a long time like 30-40 minutes wait for food to serve. So I'd go when you're not in a rush.
First time at this restaurant, and loved the variety and the food was amazing. Staff were very nice and food was surged fast as well. Definitely a place to visit.
○good service
○small restaurant/ family friendly/lots of parking
○good food/ similar to most east Indian restaurants/ can't go wrong with butter chicken but the chicken was too dry, sauce was good though
○would I go back? Probably not since there isn't really anything memorable, but definitely worth a first try
Came here for a late lunch. We ordered the lunch plates, with additional lamb curry and fish pakora. The butter chicken lunch plate was excellent, so was the naan. Other various curries on the plate were also quite good. The fish pakora was also excellent.
Taste good, very full for our lunch. However, Chai tea pretty bad taste like just a milk tea. Price not too expensive is okay to afford. 3 person to share approx $20+tips per person for lunch.
I love this place. I'm a vegitarian so I've only had the veggie things but boy I love this place. I usually get take out and eat at home but I've also dined in. The food is amazing. I'll keep coming back.
I decided to get some Indian food after a small walk, and this restaurant appeared to be one of the more popular indian restaurants in the area. I liked the fact that they provided some complimentary "crackers" to start with, however they did not stand out to me. I also had the tandoori chicken which was fairly good but I likely would not order again. My personal favourite dish was the butter chicken with the rice and the naan, but then again ... you can NEVER go wrong with this combination! Overall, I would come back again.
this had to be the best Indian restaurant anywhere. ..we had the chicken Tikka Masada as well as the butter chicken. ..both outstanding. ..this is a small but very busy restaurant. ..once ordered it took some time for the food to arrive. ..but totally worth the wait. ..will go back here again and again. .
Great food, Terrible service. Go for the food. Dont expect much more than that. Hey, tipping isn't mandatory.
MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IN RICHMOND. Traditional indian dining and ambiance. The restaurant is small and could use an expansion, but the wait is worth it during busy hours. I like t go during the lunch hours, perhaps just after 1 as the rush dies down and they still offer their lunch specials for under $10. I am a veggie head so I normally get their paneer dishes, but anything and everything is good here! Great service, can be slow because more help is needed, but they are very friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Overall great tasting, went there for lunch had a bit of everything, and everything tasted good so far, the spices are just aromatic, and the taste are just perfect to me, not too much spice that it binds my tongue, but definitely enough spice to differentiate one from another item.
however the chicken pakora, is interesting but i'll say it's not my thing for sure, i find it a little bit too soft, would like it really crispy and tender inside, but maybe that's not how it's supposed to be anyway. but it's what it's the chicken pakora it's still good, i like the fish pakora better for sure.
the last part i guess it's their thank you mint type of thing was in a jar and there was a spoon in it, tasted like chocolateish but not really, not sure what it's but definitely interesting.
next time i'll try the samosa as well, looking forward to another great meal in this location.
will definitely recommend this place for indian food :D
We were regular customers at this place till we left Richmond. Their food is delicious and has taste too unlike other Indian restaurants in the vicinity.
The only drawback of this place is their limited menu options, which leaves you ordering same food again and again!
Anyway, loved their biryanis and lamb dishes, they have a tandoori platter which I highly recommend.
Avg. Cost per person would be around $15

The restaurant doesn’t look very nice from the outside, but I was surprised that the interior is actually pretty nice and well decorated. It’s fairly small inside and on a Saturday night, we were lucky to find seats without reservations. MW suggested we try the Lamb Vindaloo. The boneless lamb is cooked in ginger, coconut, vinegar and cream mixed with potatoes. For all the curries, they will ask you how spicy and you can choose from mild, medium, or spicy. We went with medium, but I was surprised it wasn't too spicy. MH commented that this was surprisingly very good. The lamb was tender and the sauce was a nice change from your typical masala or butter chicken.
I visit Richmond often for work. This is my go to place for the best Indian food I have found in Richmond. Looks like a little hole in the wall restaurant but appearances can be deceiving. I have only been there at lunch time, but the lunch special is amazing. Love the Naan, I always order an extra serving. Will keep going here as long as work keeps me going to Richmond.
The best butter chicken you will find in Richmond, possible the metro area! Owner is friendly and service is quick. Check out their daily lunch specials.
Outstanding food and lots of it!
Health hazard. Chewing when I found a large metal shard in my mouth. I let them know but there was no compensation. Hmm..
Best in Richmond. With a very limited selection of Indian food in Richmond, this place takes the cake. You will not be disappointed at all. Always fresh and flavourful. If you eat in, you will notice how fresh the naan are. You can't beat this place for the price. As a vegetarian, I always have options here as well.
Come hungry, leave happy as they say.
Butter Chicken is great!. I always order takeout here. Butter chicken and garlic naan is delicious. Would definitely recommend this place, and it will have you coming back for more.
Love their curry.. I come here all the time whenever I'm craving curry. Eating in is a little pricey so I only dine in once in a while. Service is a little slow but I'm a patient person. Always happy with their butter chicken, super creamy and flavourful. I like to order take out because you always get more curry than dining in. I always order the butter chicken and one order of naan for takeout and I like to make my own rice at home to save a few bucks.
This was our first time in an Indian restaurant. The food was excellent. The wait staff were helpful. Very busy, a popular spot.
Curry in no hurry. I go here once every three weeks. My favourite items are the chicken saag, the daal and the aloo gobi. Its not that clean, the service is slow and The owner seems sad. But I still love this place. You get more food if you order takeout and if you want variety, get a lunch or dinner special. You'll be served on a metal tray.
So consistent, so good. This place has been so consistent over the years, I've been going there sporadically for about 9 years and it is always the same. The service is usually slow but the place is also usually packed and the food is AMAZING. I used to get the lunch special but I haven't been able to go back during that time. I always get the butter chicken and it is so creamy, flavourful and rich. You cant ask for anything better. I would eat it everyday if the restaurant were a bit closer but then I'd be about 400lbs, it's that good. Going there for dinner in a bit tonight, can't wait! Mouth watering.
Best Indian Food !. I LOVE indian food and Tandoori Kona is so far my go to place. Great food and great service! and the best chicken tikka masala out there! definitely a must try
Visited this place on other Urban Spoon recommendations and wasn't disappointed. Initial serve time was slow, we arrived early on a friday afternoon before the evening wait staff had arrived. We noticed there were lots of people ordering and picking up take out. Usually the sign of a good curry place. We ordered mango lassi, daal, chappati, and the tandoori dinner for two. Lots of food. The meal started with poppadoms, the mango lassi were nice and thick. The daal had lentils and another bean in, was a sound vegetarian option. Two plain naan and rice came with our meal, with the chappati we had plenty for two, would be good for three people. The tandoor dinner had chicken, fish and lamb tikka and tandoori chicken with a butter sauce on the side. The butter sauce was okay, but the meat and fish didn't really need it. I was surprised at the amount of fish, and the fish tikka was very good, as was the chicken and tandoori chicken. The lamb was on the tough side, but that would be my only complaint. We walked away with leftovers and it all came to just over $40 which we thought was very reasonable. Good for your curry/tandoor fix!
Butter Chicken!!. You have to make a trip here to try their butter chicken! OMG! Never had this good butter chicken before even though I had them a lot! The Naan Bread is so soft yet nice chewy texture! You have to try the butter chicken here!
Great food. horrible service tho. its such a small place but its so busy and they only have one employee in the front of the house. you cant blame the guy for his horrible service. he has to so the work of 5 people. i would go back tho. the food is pretty good for the price.
Good food, okay service.. Came here with friends, and found that there was a large birthday party taking place in the middle of the restaurant. We had to wait about fifteen minutes, but that's not bad considering. The service was slow, though you could see people taking care of the large group.
As for the food, I found it to be pretty good. Focusing on the butter chicken, it was nicely spiced and somewhat sweet for the mild taste. Even the moderate spice wasn't too hot either. The rice and the naan served are nothing special, but overall it was good.
Great!. Go here all the time! food is great. a few things to point on.. their food seems very full of suger. the butter chicken is great but has a tomoto soup taste and on take out you get more then double as you would dining in! they use a lot of red dye in their dishes. but out of the indidn in this area this place is way above.. they have 10$ lunch spec. they are filing and yumy!!
Best food. Tandoori kona has the best food and the butter chicken is really tasty.the owner of tandoori kona is really nice.tandoori kona is really clean and it has good service.
Get the skinny guy out. The food is great, get the skinny cracked out guy out of there, this guy does not know the difference between customer service or anything, I love this place and will always come back, get the skinny dude out of there asap and tell him to stop wearing running shoes with dress pants
They have only made me sick once. As a frequenter of Indian joints this is high praise. I give them 5 out of 10. I will roll the dice with them again soon on Indian roulette.
Great and authentic food. Well-priced!. Went here a couple weeks back and it was DELICIOUS! The butter chicken is some of the best I've ever had - moist, flavourful, hot. My husband had the tandoori chicken and it came out on a sizzling plate which was kind of cool. Naan... yummmm. My friend just told me about a coupon for this place on moeji.com so I will definitely be going back soon!!

House Special Naan, $2.99!! Great service; I forgot my magazine, and my waiter chased after me to give it back! A very special place..I recommend!
Good but slow service. Delicious butter chicken with garlic naan, worth the food. The best time to go is for the lunch special. The only problem is that the restaurant is way to small and the service is soooooo slow.
Delicious. Fab, 100% coming back.
Polite and pleasant service, and my water glass was always full... Always. And the food was great, too.
I love this place! Always busy, great service and Delicious food!!!!! Yum yum!
Wow, great food and accomodates allergies. After reading the reviews I had high expectations but they were met. I would reorder every dish but the prawn curry and chicken tikka really stood out. Best of all they accommodated a dairy allergy but gave some sauces on the side for those who could eat them.
Me and my family love this place. best indian food in richmond. it's one of my regular places! the owner knows us... hahaha! it's just delicious! i've had the butter chicken and i love it but now that i don't eat meat i've explored the menu. I love the prawn curry and the bertha dish which is eggplant. i HATE eggplant but the bertha dish makes eggplant taste amazing.
Worth to try. Delicious authentic Indian food with special in house curry sauce, very tasty!
Delicious!. I've been here twice in the last two weeks for dinner. Both times we were greeted promptly and served water right away. One of the best dishes is the shrimp vindaloo. It was so full of flavour, without being too spicy. I love that it comes with naan and a side of rice pilaf. I do order their raita on the side for an extra cooling agent. It does take a little bit longer for food to arrive, but it is so worth it and I enjoy nibbling on the papadum which is given as a free appy. I can't wait to go back and try more!
Authentic taste, reasonable price. The Shahi Paneer at Tandoori Kona is the best I've tasted in Vancouver. Delicious!!
Went twice got prawns makhani and naan and rice all i have to say is amazing amazing i am indian my boyfreinds caucasian usually i reject his taste in indian because he doesnt know what ots supposed to actually taste like Well people n my dear tandoori kona is real indian food.
Arriving for a late lunch, we basically sat where we wanted. It seems that many people come for the lunch special, since we were asked if we wanted menus. We ended up getting the burtha and the special, which today was chicken tikka masala. Both main courses and all the accompaniments were fantastic, especially the naan. The service was a smidgen scattered and the chairs needed their upholstery properly cleaned or replaced, but neither really detracted from an excellent experience overall.
Good Indian Food. The restaurant is located in Richmond in a strip mall. The lunch special of 7.95 was an excellent price. You must order medium or the default is mild. The waiter never asked us what we wanted, so I had to call him back and make sure he knew we wanted at least medium hot. I must say the food was quite good. I was a little uncertain, because only anglos were in the restaurant, usually a very poor sign. But the food was definitely tasty, hot, naan was fresh and doughy. We ordered pamadum as appetizer and it never came. I finally told the waiter to forget the appetizer once he brought the lunch special and he said ok, but then brought it anyway and charged us. The pampadum were stale. Plus, the lassis and drinks were brought about 10 minutes after we had our meal. I very much liked the food but am quite certain the waiter forgot the pampadum and the lassis altogether until he was reminded. I am of the opinion that it is highly arrogant for waiters to not take orders but just allegedly memorize what you are telling them. Especially if they are the only waiter in the restaurant. This waiter did not pay attention to what we asked for and really could care less about us. I would definitely give the food an A rating and the service an F. Listen to your customers - just don't nod your head and for goodness sakes write down the orders!
Really Likes it. Like:
- Plenty of parking
- Food was prep fresh!
- Excellent curry!!!
- Great service
Will return thats for sure
Great find!. After experiencing the horrific service at La Tandoor in Steveston, we had been searching for a good Indian restaurant. After digging through Dinehere.ca and Urbanspoon, it seemed that almost everyone loved Tandoori Kona, so we decided to give it a shot. Wow. Service was fantastic, food was insanely tasty, and price was just right. Will be going back again MANY times.

Heavenly curry!! Had the Chicken Tikka Masala & Rogan Josh. The curries were wonderful & creamy. Orders come with a generous portion of naan & fragrant pilau rice. Service was slow, as the place was packed and this seems to solely be a family run restaurant - but I will definitely come to this place again!
Great place for indian!. We went here a couple of nights ago - it's a great little place if you are looking for AUTHENTIC Indian. We had lamb biriyani, shahi paneer and chicken korma - all were a bit different than what we have found elsewhere in Vancouver, but very tasty! Service was excellent - a bit slow, but it was very busy. We will definitely be back!
Tandoori Kona has an awesome lunch special, $8 for rice, salad, butter chicken, and two other types of curry.. Definitely one of the better lunch specials around town!
Great Food!!!!!. I love Indian food and this place has excellent dishes and the people are really nice. Good size portions and excellent take-out.
I don’t know why I’ve NEVER been to this place before! It is awesome! One of the best butter chicken I’ve ever had hands down. (I ordered medium, I think I should of went Hot!) We went around 6:30 and the parking lot of packed. Go figure….richmond? dinner time? sunday nite? Yep parking was a pain…and most spots are 15min, 30min and a few 60min spots. They were quite busy as well so we waited quite a while before we got our food. We were in a party of 6 so it was understandable. At first glace the bowl portion looked small to me (but my stomach was hungry so I wasn’t thinking straight.) It was actually quite filling. Butter Chicken was very rich in flavor and very creamy. If you are ever in richmond I highly recommend checking this place out. Naan bread, nothing too special but still very good =p An order of Papadums. It was like South Asian food porn crawling all over our table – inviting vibrant colours and extraordinary aromatic fragrances spread out in front of us. Let the feast begin! Tandoori Chicken, their signature dish, was incredibly moist and tender than it looked. If there were a world beauty contest of roast chicken, this dish would have made the subcontinent of India so proud. Lamb Korma reminded me a very popular Indian dish Butter Chicken. The sauce was just as rich and buttery, but the taste had more depth from the additional elements of various spices and nuts. The lamb pieces could be tenderer, but could be easily over looked as I was already seduced by the delicious sauce. Goat Biryani was Bert’s favourite dish. It was so good that we almost honored it by eating the rice with our own hands. The heat from the rice dish was somewhat intense but a hint of saffron helped pulling back a little bit. The goat pieces were a little bony for my liking – well, seemed like I had to use my hand for this dish after all. It was such a sexy and satisfying meal. We hopeless surrendered in front of a master of exotic spices and flavours.
It gets pretty busy here for lunch and that might be due to their killer Lunch Special deal. At less than $10 you get a tray full of delicious Indian cuisine. In your choice of mild, medium, and hot, you get a saucy selection of butter chicken, lentils, potatoes, salad, fish pakora, and basmati rice. Out of everything on the plate I had the best time with the butter chicken and the lentils. The potatoes were pretty dry on the inside despite all the curry surrounding it. The fish pakora is an acquired taste but I did enjoy it mixed with some rice. The salad is a pretty basic side that doesn’t add too much taste but fills up the last section of the lunch tray. Naan comes by the basket and gives you a great excuse to scoop up all the sauce leftover on the fluffy dough. Overall the lunch special is a great variety plate if you’re coming here for the first time and overwhelmed by the specialized choices on the menu.
