We were in the neighbourhood around noon on Wednesday, and we decided to stop in at Cora's for lunch. We have been to this location a couple of times before. Service was a little bit slow today.
SWMBO had her Tuna Melt, and I tried something new for me: the Burrito Crepe. The crepe was stuffed with eggs, a black bean patty, red and green peppers, onions, green onions and cheddar. It was served with sour cream and salsa, and a side of roasted potatoes. It was a reasonable fusion of crepes with Mexican cuisine.
Quick, well cooked, lots of food. That's what you get at Cora's. I do like coming here. The are a few places that offer similar meals at a smaller price. None of them are near my place.
It's located in a small plaza of mostly food places just off the 404. There's a Tim's there. It's the suburbs so......lots of parking!!!
It's a chain from Quebec. It's pretty much everywhere now. I dont recall seeing any ads for them. Always seems like its word of mouth.
The decor is the same everywhere you go. There are blue plaid booth, chicken and roisters all over, cartoony text. There's also tables and chairs.
Like I said, food comes quick and there's a lot of it. Sausages wrapped in crêpes, huge pancakes, crêpes, omelettes, lots of fruit. Coffee is great. They have fruit smoothies, and fresh squeezed juice.
I love the buckwheat blessing. The sausages wrapped in buckwheat pancakes. Yum!
Opens at 6 am. Closes at 3 pm. On the weekend there's line ups about 10:30!! Note. If you are crazy like me and come before 7, you can beat the servers to the restaurant :)
Needless to say, I wasn’t very pleased. It looked nothing like the picture of the dish in the menu. The hot dogs were just plain regular hot dogs wrapped in a thin crêpe (nothing “tasty” about that) with a thin layer of processed cheese that wasn’t thoroughly melted. I couldn’t taste much of the bacon either. The potatoes were so-so and the hollandaise sauce that came as a side in a dish wasn’t even spicy — only a little bit as an aftertaste. I was very disappointed with this. I guess I should have kept my expectations low?
