After moving into a new neighbourhood, my usual MO is to try all well reviewed restaurants nearby. In North York, this was a daunting task. In Richmond Hill, the list of places to try was shorter but more planning was required, especially with Alivia in tow. One of our first stops was 3 Coins Open Kitchen, an all-day breakfast diner on Yonge north of Major Mackenzie.
This place is a haven for Sunday morning deliciousness. The wait staff is the same, as well as beautiful, with speedy service and good prices. The good is amazing I truly recommend the Benedict, or the breakfast combo. Will come here for a long time.
A staple. My dad and I have been coming here for years and will continue to. The wait staff are very friendly and pleasant- not to mention quick and good. The food is classic diner food- so if you're a snob, don't bother- it's perfect for a hot breakfast.
So Retro. I took my kids here for nostalgia. Had to try out the working table jukeboxes, which the kids thought was great. Standard diner food that is *ridiculously* inexpensive. Dinner plate sized pancakes for $5 x 3...fed all three of us. Good coffee, good service. Maybe skip the washrooms...
On this fabulous Thanksgiving Monday holiday my wife and I headed out to downtown Richmond Hill to try out the 3 Coins Open Kitchen Restaurant ( 10140 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill ). This restuaraunt is considered to be mainly "the greasy spoon" of Richmon
This was my first time at a legit brunch cafe and this place has set the standard pretty high! No more iHop for me lol Loved everything about this place! From the vintage vibes to the amazing and kind service. I would come back here if I am ever in the area again. Of course the food here was bombbbb!! Amazing price for amazing portionsđź‘Ť thanks!!
Was looking for a diner type lunch place and found this gem. Individual juke boxes for each table, Elvis Presley memorabilia, old movie posters, huge food portions and nice customer service staff.
As mentioned in other reviews, the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was citrusy and flavorful. The fried onions on the Hamburger steak were plentiful and added another flavor dimension to their Hamburger steak. A little greasy but isn't that the proper way of having this dish.
One negative is they don't have their own parking but plenty of street parking is available.
Can't wait to come back again for their roast beef plate
Classic diner in Richmond Hill. Has all the nastalgia that comes with the type of restaurant. Food is made fresh and to order and excellent pricing to go along with it. Not open for dinner so make the time to enjoy this gem
If you are looking for a simple and clean breakfast, Three Coins is great! The food is tasty and basic. It's watching the two cooks behind the counter that keeps us coming back. Their work space is amazingly small, yet they cook and plate the dishes as if it was a symphony being performed. Everything is timed perfectly with little communication. It's well worth the show but be prepared to sit at the front counter to watch and to possibly have a line up behind you. The restaurant is a favorite amongst locals.
Good prices and yummy food. The pancake was good. The old decor is really fun
3 Coins is a typical diner with only breakfast and a lunch menu. The food is quite good and cheap for brunch (compared to other chain brunch places). The portions were decent for the price (I couldn't finish my home fries and the pancakes). The reviews are mostly about their bennies (and I love bennies) so of course I got that. Also tried the Big Breakfast which includes bacon, sausage, ham, three eggs, home fries, pancake, and toast (big breakfast indeed).
1) Peameal Egg Benedict
The poached eggs were cooked in a mould so it had that perfect round shape. I asked for medium poached and it came just as I ordered it (which was great). The hollandaise was surprisingly not that bad and I did enjoy it. The home fries were regular but home fries are always good.
2) Big Breakfast
It's standard; the bacon and fries were great, the others, not so much. The eggs were cooked over easy. The pancake was okay, just regular pancake (not that fluffy though).
Overall, I think the food at the diner was good and cheap. Service was okay, the food took a bit to come but I get it, they were quite busy (it's pretty small and I think there was only one server). I would want to try their sandwiches next time (I think I saw roast beef was a popular dish too).
This is one of my favourite brunch places. It’s no nonsense. Simple ingredients cooked to perfection. I really like the balance of their Hollandaise sauce for smoked salmon egg Benedict. The 3 meat lover is amazing, crispy bacon, ham and sausages. Even comes with a pancake. I always add extra $0.75 for the blueberry pancakes. It’s worth! They are so fluffy topped with butter and maple syrup.
I definitely recommend!
Such a cute 50s style diner. My husband goes more frequently this was my first time. Food portion was good just enough. Little jukebox at each table so nice to see. Was busy when we went at 730am. But again still seats available. Nice couple who owns the place.
