I normally go here for vietnamese food when I'm in town since other places have lacked in flavour and quality in the past. This weekend I tried their broiled pork and viet rolls on vermicelli. The pork looked unappetizing but it tasted good. Full flavour. The vietnamese rolls tasted alright but the rice paper was incredibly thick because the rolls lack a decent amount of filling, especially meat! They use cheaper quality vermicelli but I actually like the harder texture (I guess I like it because its different from what we'd use at home).
My dad had pho (beef rice noodle soup) and didn't like it. He complained that they used pho seasoning rather than cooking the broth from scratch with beef bones (we're a family of cooks and bakers...and my parents worked in the food industry for over 50 years so they can definitely know what they're talking about). They definitely need to tone down on the MSG in the soup (its too much when the soup tastes too sweet, slightly slimy consistency and makes your taste buds numb). My dad agreed that there was an excess of MSG. Mind you, MSG will not stop me from eating somewhere since its in everything nowadays, especially in asian food.
I tried some of the broth in my niece's wonton soup. It had a light, smooth flavour to it. My dad wasn't fond of it because he said the vegetables that were added to the soup made the broth sweet (my dad's very particular about how food is prepared and presented). In contrast, I liked that aspect about the wonton soup because the natural flavours and sweetness from the vegetables was the focal point of the broth.
Finally, my brother had the pork chop on rice, which he absolutely loves. I tried some of it and thought the meat was strongly seasoned. The flavour wasn't bad though. But nothing compares to the pork chop on rice in Vietnam!
This is my favorite place for a good old hangover cure.
Pretty basic Vietnamese food, nothing too special, but thats why I like it. Its consistent and good.
Id suggest Combo G, the Pho or one of the Vermicelli bowls.
The people who work there are always friendly as well.
They also have a cool fish there.
As someone from Vancouver, I've definitely had my fair share of Asian food. I love Vietnamese food and let me tell you, this is by far the best place I have ever been to.. I tried the pho (Combination beef) and the broth is very tasty. It's full of flavour and didn't leave me dying for a glass of water afterwards. I could taste all the different herbs that they had used and the deep flavours in the soup. They didn't cheap out on beef either.
I ordered #86,the Vietnamese combo with salad roll to go. Upon arriving home, I was disappointed to see that there was no salad roll. I called the shop just to be sure that I didn't mix it up, and the lady told me she would credit me back next time I was in (she took down my phone number and name). Wow. Such customer service! But in terms of taste, it was phenomenon. Once again, very strong flavours and no skimping on the meat!
I've found my go to Vietnamese place in Regina for good. I won't be going anywhere else. Please do keep in mind that in many Asian styled restaurants, it is customary for you to raise your hand for service. Do not expect them to come to you automatically. It is just the way things are done. No complaints at all with the service at all.
This place is becoming a regular destination when in Regina with the family. They have all the standards (grilled chicken, pho, bun, spring rolls) that various family members seek out at Viet restaurants. Service is prompt even though they're often busy, and quality and prices are good. Not the best place in town, but reliably good. Highly recommend for a lunch or a quick dinner.
Good meals at a reasonable price. Lunch is great here. Affordable, fresh, and quick. I love the pumpkin soup with chicken, a full meal in itself, and the noodle bowls.
Not bad. This is not a bad place for an inexpensive single bowl/plate lunch, although there is a wide variety of options on the menu. For about $10-11 one can order a single plate/bowl lunch or dinner with noodles or rice topped up with plenty of meat and/or a Vietnamese spring roll. It is filling. The service is good and extremely quick. I am not sure how they pull that off but everything comes out of the kitchen amazingly fast despite the long list of menu choices. There are many restaurants in this city that would have a lot to learn from efficiencies in the Nhu y Tea Tree kitchen. The restaurant ambiance is very basic but has a clean feel to it. The restaurant is located at a strip mall.
We enjoyed #54. Pork was yummy!
Absolutely love going for the pad Thai and shredded pork fresh rolls!
Best Thai food in town. Went a few weeks ago with friends and we ordered 6 or 7 dishes and shared. The shrimp green curry was outstanding. Will definitely be back
Tea Tree GREAT!. Vietnamese combo dish with rice vermecilli is my fave here. The PHO soup is perfect.
Never disappointed. This is my regular place for a quick stop in and take-out. Pleasant staff and good food combined with cheap prices? Can it get better? Try a little bit of everything. The spring rolls are great and the beef and broccoli is really good. Cashew chicken is not my favorite but I really enjoyed it and it's now on the menu again.
Works for me. It was a breath of fresh air after the previous restaurant that was in there (2 brothers?) the food is fresh.... fresh tasting and fresh looking... service is good... i go there often now.....
Great spring rolls.. I love their spring rolls, but really anything on their menu is delicious.
Yum!. The food is amazing, a bit of a language barrier but who cares--it's delicious!
Wish I'd know about this place sooner. Stopped here en route to Saskatoon, and it's our new quick eats place. I grew up around Regina and Nhu y Tea Tree is right in the middle of the holy trifecta (for our family): the Sears Clearance Centre, the bus depot, and the Cornwall Centre.
Food was tasty and quick - I had the pho (beef chunks) and my husband had the curried veg. We also ordered the vietnamese rolls as we like to try them everywhere. These were different than what we're used to, a bit sweeter with a cornflake-y crust and a noodle inside. The pho was delicious - simple, salty, and straightforward, a real comfort food in the winter. The curried vegetable dish my husband had (can't remember the name, but was yellow, if that helps) was just fair - a lot of turmeric on it. I don't think it's their specialty. The service was great, and we'd just managed to get our coats off after ordering before the food showed up - super quick!
I vastly prefer this place over any fast-food establishment for a quick bite to eat. Definitely walking up here next time I find myself at the "Cornmall".
Pho sho. Relaxed atmosphere and good prices. Haven't found a better bowl of Pho in town yet.
We love Tea Tree. We are always happy when we visit Tea Tree. The soup is delicious and affordable, great flavours. The staff is super friendly, they always send us off with a smile and "hope to see you again soon".... and they do! Great for a no-frills lunch.. yum yum :)
It's been years since a Vietnamese restaurant has competed with gnoc van or langs. This place holds it own and then some!!! Great flavours and great service
Best Pho and Bun Bo Hue in the city.. Delicious! The Vietnamese Rice Plates are good also... But didn't enjoy their other stir fry dishes, I found that it didn't have much flavour.
Very good. The pho soup is not as oily as some other places
