Review Portofino Brasserie Italienne - Quebec City

Restaurant was very accommodating , I booked online not knowing kids were not allowed in was a bit disappointing at first but then the manager gave us a private room to dine in , great service and great food !!

Certainly not the best. We went for dinner. It looked promising from the onset, but thinks went down pretty quickly. We ordered cocktails and the barman spilled half of mine. The waiter served us the cocktails, one full one half empty. When I commented, he's just said that accidents happened and left. Following that, after waiting and hour after our starters for our mains, the waiter asked us if we would like to see the desert menu. We've told them that we didn't get our mains yet. He went to the till and ordered or mains only then. The good food wasn't even that great...

I went to this restaurant with some friends for a bachelorette party. It is also very important that I mention that this is my perspective, I cannot speak for the others. This was my worst experience at a restaurant in my whole life. I am saying this without any exaggeration. Please keep in mind that our reservation was for a bachelorette party, and we were a diverse group of women (black and hispanic). This is a very important detail to keep in mind as you read this review: Here are the reasons why: 1) I called to move our reservation from 5pm to 6:30pm as requested by the bride to be. The employee I spoke with said it was no problem. We arrive at the new reservation time at 6:30pm at the restaurant, and I am told that the reservation was never changed to 6:30pm. Clearly, they have poor communication among the staff. I could even see on the screen, that the reservation time was never changed. 2) We got there at 6:30pm, we waited over an hour to order appetizers (so after 7:30pm), and we waited over two hours (after 8:30pm) to order our main meals. We only got our main dishes at 9:30pm, so three hours later. To make things worse, among a group, a girl waited until 10pm to get her meal. Meanwhile people who arrived after us got served before us. 3) During our wait, the servers kept bringing us free rounds of shots. Many servers kept walking past our table just to stare at us. It was very strange. Servers that were not even serving us came to our table to comment on our beauty or even flirt with some of the girls of the group. I think they were purposely delaying serving us for their own pleasure? I have no idea. They even gave us a card so that we could purchase their alcohol at a wholesale price. Why would I want to purchase anything else from this restaurant considering the terrible service I received? 4) The food wasn’t that good. Nothing exceptional. At least, from my perspective. 5) When we were ready to leave and asked for our bills. They took 30 minutes to bring us our bills and before they even brought our bills, we were brought another round of shots. I don't understand why. Maybe, they didn't want us to leave? 5) We left the restaurant at 11pm. The original plan was to leave the restaurant around 9pm. Leaving so late, ruined the entire night I had planned for the bride's bachelorette party. Everything had to be cut short to give everyone the time to get home and rest because the big wedding day was the next day. The only positive thing I have to say is that the restaurant has a nice ambiance, decor, and furniture. Lastly, I felt very disrespected because my time was wasted, and for what reason? I really do not know. It felt like I was a victim of some fetishization, even though there may not have been any malicious intent. Perhaps they were trying to flatter us in some kind of way by trying to extend our stay at their restaurant? Regardless, there is no reason why anyone should wait that long to be served at a restaurant. I do think this does speak to the lack of diversity in Quebec City, because I have never experience this kind of treatment in my life. It was a very strange experience, and for this reason, I do not feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to anyone.

We were a group of 10 that went here for an adults birthday, The experiance was awesome , our waitress (Sofia) was excellent, the manager came by once in a while and always made sure everything was ok the food was excellent . We will be going back.

We were turned away because we had kids... apparently this is an 18+ resto as per the waitress.. no where on the website was that mentioned. Never heard of a resto that has no kids policy because of liquor permit.. 🤔

Not recommended to anyone not speaking French!!!! We visited Quebec City and end up eating dinner at this place. Extremely disappointed in the way we are received and treated. When asked for English menu the waitress replied with “there isn’t any and she doesn’t speak English”!!! RUDE!!! At the end she threw the receipt at us. The food is ok. Don’t expect anything really special and it is high priced. This restaurants doesn’t deserve any stars.

They seem to care more about being a bar than a restaurant.. I wanted to like the place but after waiting almost two hours to eat (*and we had a reservation) I’m just hungry and on my way to drunk

This Italian restaurant was phenomenal the food was outstanding and my seafood pasta was to die for the staff was great I really recommend this place and I'm definitely going back

We had supper in your establishment on Saturday, we came a bit eary for our reservation, but were seated right away! The atmosphere was lovely, the place was packed, but it didn't affect the service or speed of meals. The bruschettas were delicious! I do wish I could order only the goat cheese ones tho, but maybe I could, I never checked, I went for the "trio" as it was my first time in your establishment. Then the waitress recommended the "Fettuccine aux Canard Confit", it was to die for! Perfectly prepared! Afterwards, when I thought the evening couldn't get any better, the waitress recommended the "Xangos" as dessert, which after her recommendation of the duck I trusted her judgement. I pretty much had died and gone to heaven! Best dessert I have had in a long time! After this first experience, I can say that it will be a must on each of my trips from NB! And I strongly recommended this establishment to my friends traveling in at the end of the month!

Great food, great atmosphere, great experience ! When going to Quebec City and looking for a trendy place where the service, food and ambiance is top notch, Portofino Ste-Foy is the place to go!

Ambiance super et le staff est incroyable. La bouffe est délicieuse en bonus : tout pour une agréable soirée ou un snack sur la terrace en pleine canicule. Chapeau! �

Un endroit classe avec le vin au prix de la SAQ le mardi ce qui est une très bonne idée. En revanche concernant le repas ce n’est pas bon. Les pizzas ne sont pas bonnes et ils vendent ça une fortune pour de la pâte congelé. Les pâtes sont dans la moyenne mais sans plus. Un endroit pour aller prendre un verre ou mais côté nourriture à éviter absolument. Le rapport qualité prix est mauvais on a l’impression de se faire arnaquer le temps de payer la facture.

Best Italian restaurant in Quebec. Service, atmosphere and the food are fantastic. You actually get what you pay for..good Italian food. I recommend this place to anyone.

Première expérience au portofino !! J'ai adoré!! L'ambiance est superbe et le décor très original!! La nourriture est excellente et le service impeccable!! J'y retournerai c'est sur! Très belle soirée ��

� J’ai gagné un concours. Je n’ai pas eu la chance de recevoir mon prix. ‘Venez chercher votre prix’. J’y suis allée aujourd’hui pour aller chercher mon repas et ce qu’ils ne disent pas, c’est que les gagnants doivent le manger sur place accompagnés d’une personne qui devra à son tour acheter un plat. ‘’Le Portofino ne donne pas des plats gratuits comme ça’’ on me dit. Ce n’est pas ça le but d’un concours??? Très très déçue. Je n’étais jamais allée dans votre restaurant et malheureusement, je ne le conseillerai pas. Si vous ne voulez pas ‘donner des plats gratuits comme ça’ arrêtez de faire des concours ou mettez les conditions du concours visibles........

Nous n'avons même pas mangé. On voulait un repas en famille, nous venons de Montréal mais le portofino bistro est une tradition. Nous remarquons qu'il y en avait un nouveau. Nous avons voulu l'essayer. Après 40 min nous avons seulement reçu nos verres et nos commandes ne sont pas prises. La serveuse nous ignore complètement et prend des photos avec les autres clients. L'ambiance est superficiel mais bon! Après avoir payé les verres que nous avons bu, on demande la facture afin de quitter. La serveuse ne pose aucune question. Avant de quitter mon mari veut parler au gérant qui l'ignore à son tour et va se cacher dans les cuisine. Nous pensons que ce n'est pas parce qu'on va dans votre club en famille et habiller plus ordinaire que nous ne pouvons pas dépenser plusieurs $$$ dans votre restaurant.

Mon mari et moi sommes allés au Portofino et ce fut une expérience fabuleuse. L'ambiance,le vin au prix de la SAQ du mardi et le service du personnel a rendu cette soirée mémorable merci à toute l'équipe. 😊

J’ai vraiment adoré ma soirée au Porto! L’ambiance sur la terrasse était excellente, mais c’est surtout le staff qui a marqué ma soirée! La bouffe et les cocktails étaient savoureux! Qualité/prix exceptionnelle! C’est certain que j’y retourne bientôt.

Un service impeccable. Une ambiance vraiment super! Jamais ouvert le menu, on m’a géré de A à Z. C’était excellent avec de très bonnes portions! On en a pour notre argent.

Super service ! Super nourriture, un des très bon restaurant de Quebec et la carte est très varié... un choix sur pour moi !

Nous sommes ne bons clients de ce resto .... ce soir nous y sommes aller, nous n’avions pas été avisé qu’il y aurait un party de Noel qui prendrait plus que le trois quart du resto et le monde était directement où notre table .... donc aucune intimité. Déception total
