Review Saveurs De L'inde - Quebec City

Jianmin Zheng
I am not Indian but always love Indian cuisine. Usually it would never go wrong even if I pick the food from the menu with my eyes closed. But this time it took me by surprise, I don’t understand why all the dishes are SWEET. I was starving and patiently waiting for the food to arrive but decided to stop eating after the first few bites. Nothing was prepared as I expected. The portion is the only upside, but I guess I’d rather be hungry than eat these low-quality dishes.

Ordered for butter chicken but they gave me chicken with sugar syrup and turmeric. Asked for butter naan and they gave plain nan. Asked for chicken biryani but they gave turmeric biryani. Absolutely annoyed with the quality of the food. They literally charge bomb for Indian food but absolutely pathetic food quality. Worst thing is when you call them to place order they say no we will not take your order because you will not come to pick up the order. These guys know that they serve pathetic food that’s why people place order and never pick it up. Lol. It’s not Indian restaurant so please do not visit thinking this is Indian restaurant.

To start with AVOID AVOID AVOID for indians....Stay hungry but don't go to this place. The manager who himself is a indian hates Indians. Didn't greet us but greeted all other white customers. Food was horrible or rather say worst both dal and sang paneer was tasteless and full of haldi. Naan is extremely sweet. Who makes the sweet Naan. I prepare 1000 times better dal for my 1 year old. After serving food no cutlery to take food or bowl to take some dal. Whiles leaving we saw white people were given papad and chutney but to us he gave only stale papad. Highly racist. Never recommending this place to anyone. Stay away from this place. Also owner or manager who is reading this review have some manners to treat everyone equal and one should never forget the roots. Namaste 🙏

This is one of the worst Indian restaurant. I ordered biryani and it looks like fried rice, the taste is horrible too. I couldn’t take a bite. Never had such biryani in my life, it’s expensive too. I would never make a mistake of ordering food from here. If you are looking for Indian food, this isn’t the place.

After going to the mall, my family was hungry and in the mood for some Indian satisfier. We chose Saveur De L'Inde to meet the need which seemed to have the best reviews in local vicinity. We noted a few bad reviews for customer service but figured we would take our chances. The first thing we noticed was no private parking; parking was public and required payment. Stepping into the restaurant was pleasant, well-lit with appropriate decor. The staff seemed friendly and prompt.  We placed our orders without issue along with a few special requests. From time of order until delivery of the food was about twenty minutes. Once the food came, we realized that the order was wrong. Two orders were placed; my order included a meal of Chicken Tikka/Shrimp with several items, along with an entree of Chicken Tikka Masala. However, the waiter must have heard wrong, because we were given an order of Chicken Tikka instead of the Chicken Tikka Masala of which I pointed to on the menu. Instead he began to argue that I indeed ordered the Chicken Tikka not the Masala dish. We asked for a side of the sauce which he obliged us with for no additional charge. In the end, it worked out and the food was tasty and fresh, but the Masala sauce was sweet with a spicy aftertaste. The bread was very good, but limited to buttered naan. The service was ok and reasonably prompt to fill our glasses. My brother ordered the Masala dish and was very disappointed though since it cost $23 and didn't come with any rice even. He ordered it mild which was not close to mild, but at least a 5 out 10 for spice level. He was unable to give any to his child. The last annoyance was the absence of the check. We waited for several minutes and finally just went to the register to pay the bill. For three entrees we paid $125. It was the worst value for the food experience we have had at an Indian eatery. There's no way that three dishes should come to that much and for a meal which was not prepared correctly. Overall, we do not recommend this place unless you're prepared to spend quite a lot for not so much. Our order was the following: Chicken/Shrimp Tikka with Pappadum, Onion Bhaji, Venerable Samosa, Vegetable Rice, Vegetable Korma, Tarka Dhal, Naan, Dessert & Chicken Tikka Masala, but received Chicken Tikka instead. Pictured below 1. Naan $4 (We ordered 2) 2. Vegetable Korma (Part of the Chicken/Shrimp Tikka Dish) 3. Chicken Tikka/Shrimp Dish ($30) 4. Chicken Tikka Masala Dish ($23) Not pictured the Pappadum, Onion Bhaji, Venerable Samosa (Included in with the Chicken Tikka/Shrimp Dish).

In terms of Indian food experience this is the best in Quebec City. It gets busy so make sure you reserve. If you want really spicy dish order Madras.

Ordered this food during our winter stay in Quebec, it was the worst Indian food I've ever had in my life. I don't how how they're in business or who is buying and dining on this food. Butter chicken is as sweet as a mango/coconut smoothie.... I wish I was exaggerating. I felt so nauseous and had to throw it out. The naan bread is also sweetened! Why?! Like the other review said, I seriously wouldn't eat this for free.

It’s literally like prison food, probably even worse. I’ve never had worse indian food in my life before. Just disgusting and completely tasteless. Why would anybody pay for this? I wouldn’t eat this for free
