Review Cafe Buade - Quebec City

I ordered the clasic poutine - very delicious. They also have some dishes for vegetarians so everybody can choose! I recommend you to have Cheval beer(wheat beer). The waitress was nice. Favorable prices.

The waitress we had was very nice, sadly there is an older man who had no time for us. The food was mediocre at best but mostly hard to eat. We had made a large order for dinner for 6 people, and wait 57 mins for the food to come. Right away the French onion soup was frozen and cold, the chicken linguine was a spaghetti instead and had a weird chalky taste, the all dressed pizza was alright just cold too, the chicken fried rice was over cooked and the rice was too dry and hard, they messed up the veg primavera came with chicken and no sauce , the fish and chips were stale and the only thing that tasted fine was the fries. We had to send the cappuccino back 3 times and finally just decided to get a regular coffee… Honestly they might be having an off day but it was a terrible experience. :(

The food was pretty good definitely would recommend the smoked salmon bagel. However, the service was really slow and the washroom is not inside the restaurant and annoying to access (you have to ask for a token to use it).

I’ll be honest that I am usually quite persuaded by a restaurant’s online rating and if I had seen this place online prior to visiting I probably wouldn’t have planned on dining here. BUT! I am glad I didn’t make that mistake of judging a book by its cover. My company & I happened to stumble across this place randomly and saw a sign for poutine + beer special for 17.90 CAD. It was getting dark and we were hungry so we walked in without much expectations. We were greeted and were offered menu and water as soon as we were seated (you’d be surprised at how many places leave you sitting there thirsty). The waitress was amazing. She even offered to take a picture of us and was kind and accommodating. When she saw me going to the restroom she told me I’d need a coin to access it and gave me one of her own!! There was another older man working (in a red shirt) and he was also very attentive. When he saw me eating pizza on my poutine plate, he came up to me and handed me a small plate for the pizza. It was such a nice gesture. The poutine was nice and hot and delicious and so was the pizza. It was fresh and warm, with the crust flat just like we had asked. We got dark beer, and although I don’t know the name of it, it was SO GOOD that we ended up ordering another glass. We actually couldn’t finish the pizza and felt too embarrassed to ask for a take out box as we know it’s not a norm outside of the US. When asked, they gave us an aluminum container which allowed us to take the leftover back to our hotel!! My only suggestion for improvement is perhaps closing the restaurant door during the evening hours. We sat by the entrance and although the interior of the restaurant was warm the front door was left open and it caused the wind to blow inside. Overall I was satisfied by my experience, and I definitely plan on coming back one day. I recommend this restaurant !

The service was friendly. Ordered the poutine which was good but the toast came out burnt. The poutine was very flavorful. Very simple dining area.

Excellent quality ingredients. The cheeses tasted amazing. The sauces are done so well. However the soup that I got was a bit over salted and the pizza was a bit soggy in the center. Everything still tasted so delicious. With those slight adjustments I would give 5 star. The restaurant has been running for 101 years this year.

Food is good but the wait time after ordering the food was more than an 1 hour. Would recommend this place only if you can spare about 2 hours. We waited so long that we couldn’t even taste food properly.

Very friendly staff but long wait time for food. 40 minute wait and not busy by any means. We were a table of 8 and ordered mostly poutine and a duck butger. The kitchen forgot 1 poutine and by the time i received it everyone was half done eating. The cheese curd was half frozen. The duck burger was obviously cooked in a crock pot as was so greasy with little flavour. I do say the gravy is fantastic. I'd give them a second chance.

It is just as good as it was 60 years ago when I worked there as cashier. The service was fast and the food was excellent. A great place to eat in Old Quebec

Service was excellent. Food was good for a family dining. Coffee was a bit of a disappointment. I would not recommend ordering espresso coffee.

The service was awful I stopped by to have a drink and if I felt like, have lunch As I said I just wanted something to drink, staff basically ignored me They took forever to take my order and I wad quite happy to leave Lemonade was also not good

Première visite avec mes deux grandes filles... menus végé excellent! Nous y retournerons certainement à notre prochaine visite à Québec. Vaut la peine de venir de Sherbrooke pour y faire un tour et se promener dans le vieux Québec par la suite.

Ce n'était pas ma première visite au Café Buade et les autres fois c'était super bien. Cette fois=ci c'était plutôt très ordinaire. Le service était très lent et notre serveur avait l'air d'avoir une mauvaise soirée et le manifestait devant la clientèle. De plus, c'était la première fois que nous mangions au rez de chaussée alors que les autres fois (en été) nous étions à l'étage. Ca change vraiment l'ambiance. Je ne sais pas si l'étage n'est ouverte qu'en été mais chose certaine je vais m'assurer avant de retourner à cet endroit que c'est toujours bien le cas. Pour la nourriture j'ai été aussi déçu. Il n'y avait plus de soupe aux pois et le club sandwich manquait cruellement de mayonnaise. Redressez-vous les amis si vous ne voulez pas perdre votre précieuse clientèle.
