Review Cochon Dingue Saint-jean Street - Quebec City

Love their food and atmosphere. Servers are nice and refilled our coffees continuously, but had to wait for 5 min to just get their attention to order anything. Stayed in the old Quebec city for 5 weeks and tried many different restaurants - this is one of my favorites. I went at least twice a week for brunch.

I really love this place. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. The atmosphere is cozy and make you feel very comfortable. The waiters are very welcoming and serve you with smile. Great variety of drinks and food. The food are delicious.

If you are looking for an authentic French food , then look no further , this is your place. The waitress was so helpful and explained to us about each dish . They do have good vegan options along with traditional French food. Loved their French Onion Soup and Vanilla Creme Brulee .

It was busy, but worth the wait! Due to their excellent customer service this was my favourite breakfast during my recent trip to Quebec City. I recommend the Eggs Benedict with bacon and cheese curds, paired with a glass (or 2!) of the Mimosa Passion.

Great location. Beautiful Venue. Ok food. Terrible service. Arrived without a reservation for a late Saturday morning brunch. Luckily they had a few tables open and we guided to go upstairs by the lovely door host. Once we arrived up there a blonde woman sat us at a dirty table when there were two perfectly clean ones next to it. Once seated our server took forever to even come over and say hi or to provide water. By the time she got to us (she was cleaning tables & wasn’t taking care of other customers the whole time) - we just went ahead & ordered our coffee, mimosa & meals. The coffee was terrible, tasted watered down like a diner coffee. Café au lait in a bowl was ok. Whatever espresso beans they are using are just not very flavourful. The mimosa was flat and it tasted like the OJ was old or really cheap. I had asked for no onions in my homefries as I have a sensitivity, but they arrived with onions anyway. Oh and our food arrived before we had cutlery, water, coffee or mimosas. So either the kitchen is too quick or the service staff is terrible at their jobs. Watching our server clean the other side of the restaurant while we waited over 20 minutes to even have a drink to sip on and pass the time, was torture- especially when our food arrived before. It was like she forgot about us even though she walked around and near us a few times. She never came back to check on us, I had onions in my homefries, my toast was burnt, and my eggs were cold. Keep walking down to Trois Garçons or another nearby breakfast place. Skip this place all together, it may be a convenient location & attractive but sadly I judged this book by its cover and it was a huge mistake. We will never return.

This place had amazing breakfast options. We got the eggs Benny , which tasted great especially the hollandaise sauce. Their potato hash is delicious as well. We also got their special which had scrambled eggs and waffles. Best of both worlds. Highly recommend this place

Excellent service and delicious food! There’s a large outdoor café space as well as the interior space you see here. If you want the Québécois classics - plus, other classics that generally have meat in them, you’ve come to the right place! It’s comfort food – but good quality comfort food. And the atmosphere is lively and cheerful. Love it.
