At the Hobbit the menu is designed for a bit of mix and matching with smaller (but still ample) portions to avoid wasted food. And it's a lot of fun to combine different options. The food is fantastic. I had the pain perdu served with delicious jam and some soft feta and I shared the tator tots with my husband who had the egg special, an innovative egg taco. The staff were very friendly and helpful and answered all of our questions about the menu. The decor is bright and sunny. Highly recommend this place for a memorable meal.

Excellent breakfast! The Eggs were so so good. The grilled bread with blueberry compote was the perfect pairing to a great morning meal. Window seating provided a pleasant view. Service was kind and efficient. Thank you!

Only reviewing the breakfast. The food come in small size so each person was recommended to order 2-3 dishes to get enough to eat. I had the egg’s Benedict and tater tots. The tater tots reminds me croquette and they are quite tasty. Overall it’s a nice cozy restaurant with friendly staff that I would want to visit again. Don’t forget your second coffee is free. ☕️

I am so pleased that I chose to have breakfast outside the hotel. We really enjoyed the breakfast, the customer service and the restaurant atmosphere. Very well managed and I will definitely come back for a super later.

The food was decent but in the end I was left wanting more. We had the soup of the day, toasted bread, burrata, and fish rillettes. The best was definitely the soup and the bread. The burrata was also quite good and the hazelnut was a nice combination to the cheese. The fish rillettes was like eating fancy canned tuna which I think you can skip. The main course was good. I had the catch of the day (red snapper) and my partner had the duck breast. Same story - pretty good but I think they could have went further. The duck was cooked well but the skin was a bit tough. The sauce and the garnish was delicious, though. The snapper was tender and cooked perfectly and the creamy sauce complemented the fish beautifully. I really liked the beet roots and the salmon roe as garnish, too. If I had to pick, I would recommend the fish. The dessert was a bit unexpected but for the better. The crème brûlée had the flavour of a squash and the garnish was two small piece of gingerbread cookies and acorn. It was very inline with the season and different from other crème brûlées that we’ve had. Overall, the food and the experience was very solid but I was wanting a bit more for the price that we paid. I would still recommend it if you are looking for a decent enough restaurant for the evening!

UPDATE AFTER OWENER'S COMMENT: You may give this information in your menu. Like when you order duck breast, other stuff in your plate is much more than breast itself as it is a free-fed duck! Regarding the diversity of the menu, you may check other restaurants to see how is theirs. Add a photo of your menu here, give correct information to customers instead of justifying what they see in reality. You can easily write to fill full order two dishes as we use super organic ingredients and cannot give you that much for 36$! You may update the info here. What I said is fully correct. If a Pizza restaurant changes its menu to sushi and people come there for pizza because their information is not update, it is the business fault. Update your page then with new owner's photos. When people order steak or duck breast, they want to eat meat not vegetables! I forgot to say that we could eat soup with fork as it was super thick! Maybe it is the way you serve soup but not others. OLDER COMMENT: They are out of meat. BRING YOUR MEAT here. The chef has 1 kg meat and uses that for whole day. So, expect your steak be 100 gram! Do you sea duck breast in my photo?? They should say small part of duck breast for 36$. The ingredients cost them nothing but they oversell it. Definitely they are not $$ restaurant. They have to fix it. They said in the comments they have change the menu and chef together. Do not rely on any old photos. They do not have any of them! Whatever I came for here didn't exist. We just order one mushroom plate (8 mushrooms!!), one duck breast (100 gram of breast not a duck breast in real), and soup which was super shallow!! We paid more 70$ and we left here to find another place to eat it. They have only 4 main meals, and few starters. Their menu is also the least diverse I had ever seen so far. The smallest portion I have ever had. Does small portion means a high class restaurant? Not really to me.

I am an absolute #tolkien #geek …so when we arrived in #quebeccity tired and hungry looking for somewhere to lunch… and #lehobbit popped up as a restaurant in the area… well you can guess what happened immediately! Ofcourse #googlemaps did not warn me of the steep stairs and hill I had to climb… but I beared it and grinned coz I was off on an unexpected journey… luckily the food was #delicious and apparently the restaurant has been around for 45 years, so obviously well established. We had the fried #smelts and #whelks appetizer then shared the #porkflank and #cavatelli mains. The only thing else I could’ve asked for was a pint and maybe some longbottom leaf

Excellent food & service. Would definitely recommend. The outside looks a little run down but it’s a whole different atmosphere once you step inside. Friendly staff.

A local hotel staff person suggested that I visit the Hobbit Bistro for breakfast. She suggested one of the omelettes along with sampling their homemade jam. I was delighted that either a latte or espresso was included with the price of the breakfast. This was the best breakfast I had while in Quebec City.

I went to many restaurants on my stay in Quebec but Hobbit was by far my favorite. I enjoyed it in every way a restaurant can be enjoyed. The staff were so great and really went the extra mile to make sure I enjoyed my experience. The food was out of this world! I had the elk flank steak. To put it Simply, from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left, I greatly enjoyed my experience. 5 stars!

Ce soir, j'ai mangé mon meilleur poisson poêlé à vie! Le flétan était savoureux et cuit à la perfection. Le dukkah et les oignons bhaji donnaient beaucoup de saveur au plat. Quel plaisir à déguster! Merci cette délicieuse soirée!

Une première visite par temps froid de janvier... Une super soirée avec le staff et une cliente tous autour du bar à discuter scotch, voyage, restaurations, etc. La bavette de wapiti était excellente et la tarte tatin divine! Mediocre food for a completely unfair price. This is the first time in my life that I return a plate the fish was uncooked, still raw and cold ( all their meats are frozen ) the steak of my wife was the kind of steaks you get for penny's at the cheapest grocery store, The greeting was sloppy, the food was really bad, the price is way too high. You are better off at Subway's or McDonalds at least their price is fair. If I WAS THAT HOBBIT, I WOULD HIDE FOREVER IN MY HOLE
