Easily my best meal in Quebec City. We attempted L'affaire Est Ketchup, but they were full and recommend we go to Patente et Machin down the street. What a great place. The servers were great, so friendly, fun. The chef was something else. We had seats at the bar, best seats in the house by far, and the chef was in the zone, and created amazing meals! The bison is absolutely spectacular, and I would definitely have it again. My friends had the steak frites and the ragout, and those are also amazing. We left full and satisfied, and smiling.
Incredible, one of my favorite food experiences. Sit at the bar and drool! I had the sweet breads and lapped the sauce up with about a pound of bread! As well the halibut. I am an island girl and have eaten fish all my life and hands down one of the best fish dishes I have ever consumed!
This place was absolutely awesome, one my my favorite meals in Quebec. Very welcoming, party atmosphere with staff and all tables chatting and drinking together.
Food was, in a word, on point. Best steak frites I’ve tasted in years. Neither my fiancé or I had ever tried sweetbreads before and it was scrumptious. I’d come again and again, and I’ll definitely tell anyone who visits Quebec to come here.
Fantastic! Best carpaccio I've ever had ... main dish was excellent (Petoncles with blood pudding) ... took some business friends here for dinner and all were very impressed. Nice atmosphere, non-rushed service; not being able to speak French was no issue.
Reviews dont lie ! Small cozy place. The menu on the board seems simple but the server explained them as if they were all fancy dishes which they were and veryyy delicious too. Better than all expectations i had and beyond.
I would definitely return and you havent tried it. Its time ;)
Great food and service in a place that doesn't seems to be a good place at first sight. Just the best meal I had in Canada. I ordered beef tartar and bison steak. My wife got veal and pork cheek. Everything was very very good. With two beers and tips it coasted ca$140. Worth every single penny.
Excellent food. The look and feel is very casual but the food is very high class. Strange mix of grungy casual dive bar feel with exceptional high quality food. Appetisers go for around 14-20. And mains for 22-36. Expensive but good quality. Good prices on drinks though?! And extensive wine list.
Delicious food and friendly service. Although their plate decorations reminds me of Mexico's all inclusive restaurants, the menu is very modern and unique. It was my first time trying the duck tartare and it was awesome! All their staffs seemed to be knowledgable and proud of what they are serving. However I'm not sure about the sanitary / hygiene of this place because they have an open kitchen at the bar and I saw the cook wearing a sleeveless shirt scratching his arm pits as he was standing around for the orders to come in - while customers including myself were sitting at the bar right infront of him. He was also drinking and was drunk. It is not a fine-dining so being casual is fine but scratching armpits was too much. I was hoping he'd wash his hands before touching the food with his hands but he didn't. Hopefully the heat from the fire killed the germs but I'm still kind of grossed out from what I saw so I probably wont return. I still give a four star because the food and service was very good and all other staffs looked put together and I would have given a 5 star if I didn't sit at the bar and did not see what I saw.
Ordered duck breast here, and it was amazing. Extremely tender! Even though we don't know how to speak French, the server explained the entire menu to us in English. We had a great time here!
We came on a Thursday night, which was still busy, so I'd suggest making reservations, regardless of which night it is. Most of the waiters speak good english, and the cook is really good, though he says it's on adequate when talking about food. They have an expansive wine and beer list. My wife and I got the accras (fish balls) and the porc (a shared main dish of pork flank). Holy smokes, it was really good. Definitely get a meat there. They really know how to cook it. The one drawback is that they take a while to make it, but I attribute that to them making it to order.
