The fact that this was our 2nd trip to April Point this season, and with a 3rd one booked for August, pretty much says it all: this place is heaven on Earth!
The views of Discovery Passage are breathtaking, especially around sunset. So far this season, we have been staying in April Point's Signature Suite Cabin, which offers its own private hot tub on the wraparound deck of the cabin. Depending on how late you stay in the hot tub, and the amount of noise you make, the only unexpected visitors you might get are deer that come and graze on the grass and drink by the water.
It doesn't matter what you are looking for in your vacation, be it relaxing all the day on the patio, going for a spa treatment or enjoying the astonishing views over Discovery Passage. If you like it more active, go for a hike, take out one of their new electric bicycles, take a kayak out on the water or go on one of the many organized trips.
We went out for a fishing tour this past Canada Day weekend. Even though we didn't catch anything, our guide Dwayne M. was AMAZING!
Bottom line: This place is my home away from home.
And did I mention the gorgeous views?
One tip for the Northcoast Management however: the $5 fee for each trip on the water taxi was introduced this year and you probably had your reasons for doing so, but the communication about it could be at a far superior level.
I noticed this trip that actual signs have been put up, which were not around on our first trip, so it's a start, but the fact that you can get your water taxi tickets for free if you can show them a receipt of minimum $10, is not advertised at all, and would probably be more than accommodating enough for all the people that are now complaining about it.
Also, guests who are actually staying at April Point should, in my opinion at least, be given the required water taxi tickets to be able to actually get to April Point upon arrival. Especially when arriving relatively late, and the BC Ferries service is no longer running.
Either way, to the entire April Point and Painters Lodge team: Thanks for another great stay and see you all again soon!
Stayed here just over a week ago. Beautiful rooms (we stayed in 102), friendly staff, free water taxi to Painters lodge was very good & frequent, place also has stunning views.
Painters lodge bar served good food & drink & waiter staff were very friendly!
One down side was people in room 101 were there for a wedding & had no respect for personal space taking our chairs & constantly walking on our balcony area. Hotel needs to remind others of personal areas.
One big point is I believe the website needs to have some work on it as it does not do the hotel justice.
Highly recommend taking the zodiac to see wildlife. We saw about 80 to 100 dolphins which was fantastic!!!
It's the place to be. From our balcony we saw Orcas and seals. Everywhere you looked there was a view! Accommodation brillant...
